Battery tips

Am awaiting delivery of an Alienware 18.

I've seen conflicting advice from battery to extend the life of the battery, IE is the ability to hold a charge.

Is it better to leave it plugged in all the time, unless I need to run on battery (I know is limited on a robust system like Alienware, I expect over 2-4 hours depending on what I'm doing and probably less than 2 tasks intense graphics)

-or-

Is it better to unplug and let the battery run lowish and then plug

-or-

Should I leave it plugged but periodically - as every month - let the battery completely run to?

Would appreciate so many instructions maintenance orientation/battery official "manufacturer" and advice from real world to those with experience.

Thank you

What should I do to completely discharge the battery?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hey,.

Why you want to change the level of less than 3% battery? I think that s useless because need new lithium ion battery doesn t 0% of discharge in order to maximize the battery life.

  • Questions 2 Smartphones blackBerry on PRIV

Having my new PRIV for about a month now and I really like this phone. I read as much as I could on all related Articles Priv and the available forums. I have two questions:

    1. the bar notification icons. At the top right, you get the usual time, battery, WiFi, network, and icons 4G level. On the left, you get downloads and other things. For example, when I go to the driving Mode, a car icon. But a new star icon appeared next to the 4 G on the right hand. What does the star mean? I pulled dow the notification bar and could not see any reference to it. The star means I'm special?

    2. battery memory. Battery private has a 'memory '. Which means, is there a risk to leave the gauge completely drain down to zero and conversely, leaving hip after a load of 100%? I accidentally left plugged last night because I fell asleep.

    Thnk you.

    Heya @pawnkiller99, thanks for posting

Question 1 - the star indicates that the device is in priority notification mode. To learn more about the priority mode, see this section of the guide

Question 2 - when the device has reached 100%, it will stop to accept the charge to protect the battery and drain the battery completely is not a bad thing either. There is really only one thing, you should avoid that recharges in very short increments, which is less than 15 minutes. For some more battery, tips and info, check out this post.

    I hope this helps!

  • Satellite P100-188: tips on battery charges

I just bought a Satellite P100-188 and this is my first laptop, it says in the manual "once the battery is fully charged, it is recommended that you use the computer only on battery power until the battery completely discharges.» This prolongs the life of the battery and helps to ensure accurate monitoring of the battery capacity"and"leave the AC adapter plugged in will shorten battery life. At least once a week, power the computer on battery power until the battery is completely discharged and then recharge the battery."

I was wondering if I should unplug it sector whenever that appears the battery charged? I only need to use the PC on batteries for short periods of time (most of the time I can connect to a power outlet) it would completely remove the battery and running on current alternative alone (even do that?)

in these moments, I know that the batteries have a finite charge time and I am just a little worried about the procedure to follow if there is place for long battery life, because they can be quite expensive to replace. So it is wise to place the battery on charge when it displays as power by half or a quarter, or should I let it drain completely before recharging?

I would appreciate some advice from all you seasoned users of laptops out there.

    Hello

You should treat a battery as if it was in the manual.
Completely load, use it until it is empty, then charge again.

Only connect the laptop to power if necessary (means that the battery is empty).

  • TIP: How to increase the longevity of your battery IdeaPad Yoga 2 Pro

You want to increase the longevity of the battery in your Yoga 2 Pro?

Lenovo has included a battery 'Mode of Conservation', which extends the longevity of your battery in your battery to 55% ~ 60% instead of load completely.

You can activate the "Mode of Conservation as follows:

Step 1. Double-click the Lenovo Energy Manager icon in the taskbar.

    http://www.Flickr.com/photos/lead_org/11618045764/

Step 2: Click on the expand button on the windows of the Manager energy

    http://www.Flickr.com/photos/lead_org/11618047884/in/photostream/

Step 3: Click on the 'Settings' tab on the windows.

Step 4: Select battery / turn on 'Mode of Conservation' in Lenovo Power Manager.

P.S. You do not have to use this mode all the time, but if you use the laptop with the AC adapter plugged in all the time and do not really need long battery life time, then this is something you should consider allowing to reduce the wear of the battery unnecessarily.

  • Battery, specifically in the night with ios10

It happens to me all the time, when the night comes and I don my body with this sweet sleep, it's rough on my iPhone.  Really difficult.  I'll just go on my what happened to my phone last night...

I went to bed around 01:30, my phone was 93%.  Here is a list of things that together did us before going to bed.

-Set airplane mode because I get horrible service where I live, and I learned that that saves my battery

    -Closed all my apps

    -Night market

These are normal things I do every night.  Do not forget that I have the app off background refresh and I have like 3 or 4 things in my widgets.  When I woke up just 6 hours and a half later, my phone had fallen to 59 percent.  Normally when I wake up and work all day and use the phone more (not much, I'm not a heavy user), I have no problem.  It's nighttime in general just when I have these problems.

I had an iPhone before iOS 10 and 6, I had no problem with my other phone that my * service area, but I use call in wifi and FaceTime to correct this, if my phone is usually at home airplane mode.  Got a new iPhone 7 and who seemed to have no problems for 2 days, but now I'm back for the battery drain of night time making my iPhone 6.

I doubt that is it because I don't see the problem often, but I think that my router is wrong and sometimes I lose the connection, but when the phone is in standby mode and I don't use it I doubt it would be the problem.  When I go to my use of the battery and check what is using what it says Facebook is 23%, and home and lock screen is only at 2% when it is clearly more 30% has been used yesterday evening.

Any help would be appreciated, I'm fretting here!

  • drain battery MacBook or normal?

I bought a macbook 12 "retina display earlier this year. I use it only once every three weeks or more. I usually load completely before I have unplug the unit and it is sitting for three weeks and when I turn it on it has lost about 30% of its power, according to the percentage at the top battery icon. Is it normal for a fully charged battery to sink down when not in use? (I ran a diagnostic test Apple and all removed). Useful tips on this are appreciated. Thank you-

I can't speak for your machine, but the MacBook Air 11 '' works with a lithium battery much smaller than, say a 13 "MacBook Pro. Losing 30% of the load over several weeks is in the normal range.

Useful tips? I think you're doing everything right. I guess you power off your machine before unplugging; I saythat as some users choose to sleep their machines rather than turn it off.
