Do not leave the battery to fall below 10 percent, or you may not be able to recharge the battery once it falls to 0%. Never leave the computer on the charger. You need to use the battery from time to time in order to keep the electrons flowing and maintain a normal life.

Before you buy a new Mac, as a test, save your user files, erase the hard drive, install Mac OS X and then install only your most used applications. It should work like new.

  • 2012 the MacBook Air running hot and slow

After about 20 minutes using my 2012 MacBook Air gets very hot and the cooling fan starts to operate at full speed. At the same time, it slows down considerably. Is this a sign that the battery must be replaced (anyone know the approximate cost to do this?)? However, I have no problem to recharge the battery and it seems to work for a reasonable period between charges.

I got this macbook air for a few months and quite a lot of 1 day that I had to deal with a boring case of keyboard lag.  It doesn't matter what application I use.  Story is always the same.  Then in a few minutes (10-15) work (email, iMessage, browsing with safari (maybe 8 open tabs), pages or open Word) fan turns on and heat emanating from the back of this thing in pretty intense.

I tried to reduce the number of apps on my dock, reducing the number of tabs open in safari. No luck.

  • 2012 MacBook Air 13 "Service battery

I bought a 2012 refurbished MacBook Air in 2013 and through the last 2 years I have gone through approximately 484 cycles of battery. (I am a student and use the computer every day for school work). Last week, he started the "Service battery" alert. I never get more than 4 hours if I don't have Chrome open. I use Premiere Pro a lot on battery, would that be a problem?

    Thank you, Jakob.

The popup of the Service battery indicates that your battery needs replacement. You can always use the battery being, however it will not last as long as expected by Apple. You will need to make an appointment-genius bar and take the MacBook Air to your store local Apple to get the battery replaced if you do not want to do, but unless the MacBook is still under warranty, it will cost $129 + tax, as shown below. I hope this helps!

  • MacBook air trackpad crazy acting

    Hi all

the trackpad on my macbook air has been acting and acting very erratically, starting a couple of weeks and only gradually getting worse/more irritating. There are periods where it works completely fine, but less so. Basically, even with light touches and not a double-click, the trackpad selects as he wants, clicks and double-clicks on even with light movements and clicks when I'm not touch in a way that he should take this action. I reset the laptop, I fixed the disc and I am at a loss for what could be wrong. the keyboard works fine, everything works fine. It was not any spill or weird damage to material which could explain this. I checked the settings of the mouse and trackpad and everything I had put in place to be. It's become really difficult to use the mouse without undesired shutdown of windows, select and then delete text, etc.

I use a macbook air from 2012 and yosemite 10.10.1

are there troubleshooting tasks or resets system I can try to help with this? all solutions? I thought I could just buy a mouse external bluetooth or something and just disable the use of the trackpad completely, but I wanted to see if there could be something else to do before that.

    Thank you!

    Try the reset SMC

Reset the management system (SCM) controller on your Mac - Apple Support

Also, it looks like the trackpad is triggered at all? What happened on the back side of the lower case? If the battery is expanding or goes wrong, it could put pressure on the lower part of the trackpad, causing it to act strange.

You can check the status of your battery by clicking  > about this Mac > system report > food

Only other thing I can think is a dirty trackpad. If you use the lotion regularly, this can make the trackpad go wobbly. Make sure it is clean.

  • MacBook Air turns on if the charger is plugged

So I bought my Macbook Air 6 months and I love it. I got no problem with him, until today. I was on my laptop this morning and I left it charging for 2 hours, then I came back and my Macbook does not illuminate. I did a lot of research but nothing has worked. I went into a store, so they fix my laptop and see what happened to her. 3 days later, they call me and they tell me that they have set, but it didn't work if it was plugged. They said that it wasn't a battery issue because they have tried with another and it did not work. They said it was the motherboard of the laptop causing this problem. They said it would cost more than £500 to repair, so I said no. I need to my laptop as soon as POSSIBLE because I do all my school work and I have a lot of documents that I need. My question is what is there another solution for this problem? Could this something else that has caused this problem?

    Thank you.

  • MacBook Air, iMac 24 inch connection

    Hi guys,.

I have a MacBook Air c.2011 and my partner just to buy a version of 2016 - both running OS X Yosemite. I also have a 24 inch iMac c.2009 sitting on office desk at home (also in the Yosemite running). We want to be able to to connect/cradle our laptops on the iMac so we can use the larger screen as the computer of the reception, access to data and files on laptop computers.

After extensive online research, the only way I can see it working is - port thunderbolt out of Macbook to the Firewire 800 port on the iMac.

Problem is that I had trouble finding (a) a firewire cable in all good electronics stores because they are obsolete or (b) a port adapter male firewire/woman lighting.

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

Please read carefully use your iMac as a display with the target - Apple Support Display Mode. You will see that the iMac is too old to use TDM. Sorry for the bad news. You can search for software solutions however performance is very poor.

  • iCloud not synchronized completely with MacBook Air

I'm running OS X 10.11.6 El Capitan on my MacBook Air (end 2013) and the iOS9.3.5 on my iPhone 5. Have also, incidentally, Apple Watch. • Transferring files from MacBook Air on external hard drive

Regularly, I backup to an external drive.  But my MacBook air becomes full and cannot update its software. So I want to permanently delete folders from my MacBook on the external drive and then if I need these files I just access it from the external drive.   How to do this?  Help, please.

    Thank you.

In general, files that take up the most space are music, photos and videos. Those who could be moved to an external drive. But if your external drive is not saved, and it fails, then you lose these files.

One of the great benefits of owning a MacBook Air is not having it connected to external devices. Perhaps you should consider the upgrade of its internal drive for a larger model.

  • 21:9 (2560 x 1080) ultra wide screen Macbook Air does not work after macOS Sierra

I have a problem with my LG 29UM58.-p.

After the installation of macOS Sierra Switchresx (4.5.3) isn't my custom resolution 2560 x 1080 more. I already tried to uninstall Switchresx and took new custom resolutions, but it did not help... First of all, it did not save my custom resolutions and then he said no "installed" or "active - invalid? Also, someone said if you made an additional account on your mac and then define custom resolutions, you can then use it in your normal macaccount, but he also didn't work...

I tried (almost) everything... before the update of the software it was working fine.  Oh and also I use HDMI to mini displayport.

Could someone help me out here?

    Thank you very much!

Hey man, same here. That I'm going through exactly the same thing here. I have a MacBook Air from 2013 and just bought the exact same display. I'm on MacOS Sierra.
