BB vs BB 8820 8830 blackBerry smartphones

I currently have (and love!) my BB 8830. Because of poor network coverage, I seek to change service provider. The competition offers the 8820 model.

Is there one real difference between the other two that perhaps the 'language', he speaks (TDMA, CDMA, GSM, etc.)?

The only two real differences are that the 8820 will have WiFi and GPS will not be disabled (IF it's on your previous operator).

Well, to answer my own question, I now found the answer.

Unfortunately, the 8830 and some other newer BlackBerrys do not easy to get this type of technical information.

    You must:

    1. Have a login/password to https://www.blackberry.com/EngineeringScreens/ (last updated 05/30/2008)
    2. On the BlackBerry meadows ALT + CAP + H and leave it on this screen.
    3. Once connected to the # 1 link, you will be asked to enter your PIN code #, Uptime and postal code of the corresponding to your device.
    4. You will then receive an unlock code that is specific to this information (if you leave this on the blackberry help screen, the number of operating time will be different, so your code will be different.)
    5. Then enter the code for unlocking on BlackBerry, now the ALT key for numbers, the capitals are not necissary.
    6. This will give you access to the app Mode Trace Engineering
    7. 'Radio Engineering' selection screen
    8. Select screen "CDMA Engineering"
    9. Select "Operational information" (ec/io of 2nd line 3rd line rss)
    10. Scroll down to 'Neighbor set details' and get 1st line driver active, 2nd to the 20th will give nearby sites with ec/io for each.

    * Copy the following code will work for 30 days, then you will need to get a new code in the same way.

    I hope this helps everyone!

  • Update blackBerry to 4.5 8820 t - mobile Smartphones

I completed the steps to prepare for an upgrade to 4.5.

    • Upgrade to the version of desktop manager 4.7
    • Full backup of the device
    • Delete the vendor.xml file
    • Downloaded the file 8820 of Rogers. 8820M_PBr4 filename [1].5.0_rel108_PL2.7.0.78_A4.5.0.81_Rogers.exe
    • East went to the site update 4.5 blackberry and typed my PIN code.  He said - your carrier does not support 4.5 (t-mobile)
    • Went to t - mobile.com / bbupgrade no luck there, only 4.2.2 is supported.

So, that's the next step?  Double click simply on the 80 MB. EXE file that I downloaded? If t-mobile does not support 4.5 so it's a useless exercise?  What about all these cool new features of mail electronics html?  I would like to hear if anyone has done this on t-mobile specifically.

    Thank you

    John

The version of Desktop Manager shouldn't matter. I always use 4.2. Here are the steps:

Download the OS 4.5 from: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=72DA7FD6D1302C0A159F6436D01E9EB0

Run the Setup for the software Assistant, and then delete the vendor file in c:/program files/common files/research in motion/apploader.

    1. Open BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
    2. Connect the BlackBerry smartphone to the computer.
    3. If you are prompted, type your BlackBerry smartphone password and then click OK.
    4. Do one of the following steps:
      • If the Application updates available window click on update now. The Application Loader Wizard appears.
      • If the Application updates available window does not appear, double-click The Application Loader icon. The Application Loader Wizard appears.
    5. Click Next.
    6. If you are prompted, type your BlackBerry smartphone password and click Next.

Note: when the Application Loader Wizard has completed the review of the configuration on the BlackBerry smartphone, the device application selection screen appears listing the applications available for installation. The selected check boxes show the applications already installed on the BlackBerry smartphone.

    7. Select the check box for the BlackBerry Device Software.
    8. Click Next.
    9. If the screen on the device backup appears, choose to automatically back up the BlackBerry smart phone, and then click Next.
    10. Click Finish to start loading the software to the BlackBerry device.
    11. Click close when the software is finished loading.
  • Unlocking blackBerry Smartphones 8830 World Edition GSM and code provider

    Hello

I'm a guy unsavvy tech and have an 8830 World Edition phone. Bought this from Auntie Indicom (Vendor ID: 269), a CDMA operator which also provided a GSM SIM for only international roaming. Last month, number portability Mobile came into India, and I went to a GSM provider, Vodafone India. After the transfer of numbers, simply inserted the new Vodafone SIM and the phone and Blackberry services are working well with the new operator. Two questions:

    1. from the Options-> advanced-> SIM card Options, after typing MEPD, I see:

    ID: a large number

    Customization:

    Disabled SIM

    Active network

    Network subset disabled

    Service Provider disabled

    People with reduced mobility

Does this mean that my Blackberry is locked? If Yes, is it blocked by Vodafone? Given that I have moved the Auntie service provider Vodafone and does not seem to wear the same number on the same phone, aunt locked the phone.

    2. type Alt-EACE, I always see the Vendor ID 269 (Auntie). See also the logo of Auntie initially upwards. Is it possible that I can change the ID of the seller or at least stop getting the start screen for the old vendor? This ID Vendo has something to do with the above-mentioned lock?

Would be very grateful if some kind soul illuminates.

    Thank you

There must be something different on a BB WE that allows the use of other SIMs, though always stuck at home carrier. Odd, but your experience proves the theory. I seriously doubt that release will make a difference, but certainly to try I guess.

I don't know why your BB is as you describe... but, I want to propose the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried. However, you want to be careful here. I don't know how you originally got your BB running services on your current operator. All BB services are controlled by the Service books. If a carrier does not natively support a BB model on their network, there are a few things that need to be taken to get these SBs on than non-native BB. If only it had to do, don't go here... you could just wipe out all your services level of BB. But if none of these tricks are required (which would mean that your carrier supports natively your BB model), then you should be safe to go ahead.

Steps 1 and 2 each should translate into a message to your BB to come:

    (1) registry HRT

    • KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with wireless network

    (2) Service reference books

    • KB02830 Send the directories for the BlackBerry Internet Service

    (3) restart to take batt

    • Each time a random strange behavior or slow creeps, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the hood back and remove the battery. Wait a minute, then replace the battery and cover. Power on and wait patiently through the long reboot - about 5 minutes. See if things return to functioning. Like all computing devices, BB suffers from memory leaks and others... with a hard reboot is the best remedy.

Maybe it will make a difference. I really do not know about you, to be honest. It's a tricky business, and you can well serve just as well by getting a new BB you get from your carrier... which by the way, you would have at least that the formal support at your disposal channel.

    Good luck!

  • BlackBerry Smartphones Email receipts

I have a BB 8830, my frustration is that when I send an email from my BB or my account gmail online I always receive an email from myself of what I just sent.  How can I stop it?

    Cause of the problem

Webmail Gmail accounts were not separate sent items and Inbox folders. The web page of Gmail account contains a Messages link on the left side, but is not a folder separate from the Inbox. Webmail gmail messages are grouped into conversations, which leads to all messages sent and responses of others appearing as an entry of a single e-mail message in the Inbox. This allows to easily read and look on the web page of Gmail, but, when it is integrated with the BlackBerry Internet Service account, results in copies of sent e-mails on the BlackBerry smartphone as new e-mail messages.

    Resolution

To prevent messages sent back to the BlackBerry smartphone each time, create a filter in the BlackBerry Internet Service account to block sending these messages to the BlackBerry smartphone.

To create a filter, follow these steps:

    1. Connect to the BlackBerry Internet Service account. For instructions on how to connect to the BlackBerry Internet Service account, see KB03781.
    2. Click the icon of filters next to the built-in Gmail account.
    3. To create a new filter, click Add a filter .
    4. Configure the filter to ensure that messages are not sent to the BlackBerry smartphone if the message coming from the integration of webmail Gmail account:
    • Type a name for the filter in the filter name field. For example, my messages to email Gmail.
    • Assign to the field filter to apply when 'FROM' field.
    • In the contains field, type the address of the Gmail webmail. For example, @gmail.com >.
    • Select the next radio button of do not forward messages to unit.
    • Click on add filter.

Note: After you create this filter, e-mail messages will not be received on the smartphone BlackBerry if sent to the Gmail webmail account.
