• How to register ActiveX exe server for all users

  I'm aware that with newer versions of the CVI and Windows when you generate an ActiveX exe server, it records only the server for the user profile.  I read one white papers OR who said that computer administrator may register the server for all users.  I am an administrator for the development of PC we use.  I went to the command and he ran as the administrator of the PC.  I then navigate to the path of the exe.  I published the regserver command.  Unfortunately, I am unable to distinguish if the server exe was registered for all users or if it combined again to my user profile.  Our server exe is called by another program of the CVI.  To validate if the server exe had been registered for all users, I had a user who had not built server exe on the development PC connection and try to start the server within its own CVI program exe.  When this has been attempted, the user receives an error "class not registered".  The user was not able to successfully launch the exe of the server until it has built on the PC itself.  It does not appear that the administrator regserver command worked to save the exe file of the server for all users.  Is anyone aware of any steps that I may have missed?

  I'm working on a Windows 7 with Service Pack 2 for LabWindows/CVI 2013.

• Separate RDBMS server for high load applications

  Hi all

  I have 2 requests below

  1 Apps1 with 10 TB expected data and 400 concurrent users

  2 applications 2 with 20 TB of expected data and 800 concurrent users.

  our management thinks we should have servers of RDBMS oracle separate for each of the above to reduce the load.

  I told them that this isn't the right approach, tomorrow we will need another Apps3 application and we will assign a new server? additional license?

  I tried to convenced that load balancing should not be adopting the same, which is dedicating a separate server for each application.

  They asked me to motivate good why we should have a single database server.

  I have a few points, but I need your ideas, maybe something I don't know or maybe I missed something.

  Please guide me with this.

  Size of the database does not dictate the overhead on the database.

  In the database environment, performance boils down to I/o. The more necessary e/s, the processing load factor.

  For example, the 20 TB database are accessible by 10,000 users primarily use unique indexes and especially the small range scans index. In which case the processing load will be nearly identical if this database was 500 GB in size - as the I/O load is compatible.

  And then we can get a 500GB database where most queries are either full, index table full, analyses the nature of the data and business questions - which will be the factor of 20 minor look to database processing load.

  Size of database so only, is a poor metric to use to determine the necessary type of RDBMS environment.

  As you have a network using large enough storage (30 + TB by the sounds of it), I would start with that as the basis to decide what kind of infrastructure and architecture are necessary.

  What is a SAN? What is NAS? To use fiber, iSER FCoE, Ethernet or Infinband or RPS? RAID is done at the server storage layer, or is it a JBOD which are abnd scratched in the opposite direction to the ASM? Etc.

  As I/O plays the major role in the performance, I can't be sure that it is optimal.  Because the storage layer contains critical business data, I would support HA and redundancy. As volumes of data increase forever, I would make sure to evolve.

  I see three basic options. Keep the existing storage layer and infrastructure development. Replace the layer of storage with something else. Download Exadata Database Machine.

  Given the userbase sizes and volumes you mentioned, I would seriously consider Exadata. And no, RDBMS licenses should be identical, if not cheaper (less expensive that db servers off-load processing to storage nodes, which requires less db server processor cores).

  No, the session of the APEX is a dedicated connection to the database. Session of the APEX is independent of Session data, for each new request a database connection is created and abandoned when finished.

  What standalone mode are you talking about? Oracle remains Data Services (formerly APEX Listener) as a web server in standalone mode?

  If Yes, then it is not recommended to Oracle:

  Reference: running in stand-alone Mode that says:

  "Stand-alone mode is suitable only for development purposes and is not supported for use in production deployments. Use a taken J2EE application server supported for production deployments.

  You should always go for ADR deployed to one of the recommended Java EE application server. (Oracle Weblogic Server/Oracle Glassfish Server/Apache Tomcat)

  How much RAM we required for such a charge?

  The answer to this question is arbitrary. It is not only the RAM you should be concerned. It is on what architecture (hardware and software), you must go.

• Easy VMware vCenter Server for Essentials Question

  We are looking to buy VMware vSphere Essentials for use in our Test/development environment and had a question about vCenter Server for Essentials. I know this is a light version of the 'standard' vCenter, but is there any reason that I could not run this version in a VM to manage the node 3 environment "Essentials" like I do in my "regular vSphere cluster?"

  I see no problem at all with your server vCenter Server running as a virtual machine. In addition, it is fully supported.

• Staging server? Development? The screening? Arghhh!

  First, let me preface this announcement letting you know that I was a front-end developer for many years with only a basic knowledge of what is happening on the server level. I have a server administrator (read boss) who charged me conclusion meets the situation I will (try) to describe below. I have used Adobe products, including DW, for more than 10 years and currently employs DW CS5.

  I'm unable to understand the differences between, and the different uses, Director, development and test servers. I know what local and distance/production servers are, but (with the exception of a test server) I know not if 'staged' and 'development' is different terms which can be substituted for one (or both) of them.

  Currently and since many years ago, I only had websites the and remote set up for my various sites. However, I now turn to a setup where I can do my local job and then push my files to a test location - BTW, using the word "test", I do not mean that, in my view, it should necessarily be a 'test' used server, and then finally, after pages coup look/function correctly, place the files on a production server.

  Now, if I Ctrl-Shift-U (or put) my files, they go straight to my remote server. How can I do a stage intermediary that sends files to a test site and then will push files higher in the chain once approved the additions/changes?

  I've also heard the term WAMP bantied talk, but do not know if it would apply to me. And what about Subversion? Can I use that in conjunction with the lens that I am trying to achieve? (Well, my head start really turning now.)

  If the servers in your network can be used to writing scripts that you use, then it really doesn't matter where you have placed the site "intermediary".

  -You must define TWO sites in DW:

  1. your place of work - local site is located on your computer, remote site on the staging (staging) server - where others can browse files and examine them.  You create / edit files on your local system and push them on the staging server for review.

  2. your staging site - local site is the staging server (i.e., the first server in the remote site), the remote site is the production server.  The files would be reviewed here, and when you are ready to publish, you connect to this site and push the files on the production server.

  Developer 6i is no longer available for download (at least not that I can find: it is not available in the usual places [e-Delivery, OTN, My Oracle Support]). The only way I can think of that you can get the version you need for Red Hat is to contact the Oracle Support and submit a special request to the software or if you know someone who has a copy of the software - ask them to make you a copy.

  We are starting a new project on 11.5.10.2 which includes some developing a framework of OA. I understand some powerpoint I've seen, in the case of development of the extension, you must duplicate the server JAVA_TOP for the developer PC resources and after that duplicate it.
  
  In our society, we have complex security rules and it is difficult to transfer and copy files from servers. In addition, we have also some other constraints. So I wonder if I can install my Jdeveloper on the application server (on Solaris SPARC) directly and do the update it.
  Is there anyone who have tried this? are there any limitations or constraints?
  
  For example, we are unable to do this type of architecture for the generator of forms/States because it is not supported with UTF8 character. Is there some kind of limitations also like this for developer J?

  HI, I'm migrating to use another contacts (Daylite) back to iCloud and mac Contacts Manager. My main contacts are in Mac OS x Server and are configured for synchronization between Daylite and mac Contacts, so my iCloud is not my correct contact list. Can anyone help or point me to an article or a message describing exactly how to:

  -delete the contacts that I have currently in iCloud

  -import all my contacts of CardDav in iCloud and start again?

  I guess after that, to synchronize contacts between iCloud and mac Contacts, all I do is iCloud account active Contact "accounts"?

  I understand that you're looking to remove all existing contacts from iCloud, and then import contacts from another service of Mac OS x Server to iCloud.   Hello!

  The reason this not prevail as a fail-safe in the EAS Protocol feature.  From a point of view of corporate security, companies do not want the chance to sensitive business data being extract/put in one or more different servers that could very well not be themselves.  Any device using EAS must remove the Acct. and add a new.  Need help with data migrations that isn't the new server.

  I need a solution to print server for a large organization. Need your help in evaluating Windows print management for this purpose.

  The case:

  A centralized system correspondence generation will produce a "zip of PDF files" to print in various branches around the world. I expect to send the zipOfPDF to a centralized, Windows print server. From there on, it should be forwarded to respective branch local windows print server. I expect the following system:

  1. the centralized windows print server must be able to read zipOfPDFs and associated metadata.

  2 centralized windows print server must be able to route (spool) the zipOfPDF to respective branches (metadata will include details of the branch). (Indicate if the custom coding is necessary for her or can be supported out of the box?)

  3. local windows print server receive the zipOfPdf and extract the metadata.

  4. extract the zip file and extract the files PDF.

  5 read the metadata and move to designated PDF printer files (metadata will be printer details)

  6 set the priority of print according to the metadata set. (The metadata will be priority printing details).

  7. create a record/report after printing the zipOfPDF.

  Indicate if

  1. it can be supported by the Windows print server instead of first? What operating system/printing system will be necessary?
