Best game API to use... I need help

I really don't care about the issue of portability as most of the APIs are fairly easy to swap from one phone to another, and since the great player outside BB is the iphone and there's no similarity, portability is really not really a problem... except perhaps for the Android... TO BE DETERMINED.

Conversations, I had on a previous question, I came to the conclusion that we should try to use the javax API and only when necessary to go with the blackberry API. However, I notice that there is no equivalent control field, with the exception of forms.

What it really seems to boil down to is that you prefer to use. I think that I have to use the approach of Blackberry Ecran and I have the choice to use the screen as a Bitmap (using getGraphics()) and draw or I can even create a Bitmap field and call Graphics.create (bitmap) to get a graphics context in which I can get, and here I can even combine my small bitmap with the fields of regular control... This seems to be the most adaptable.

So, during the passage of cmdlets midlets, I think that applications using the screens are much more flexible.

It seems that I can use a moped with lcdui and a canvas, which is OK for the games but useless if you want to use buttons gauges and stuff like that. The alternative, that's what I said above, and this seems much more flexible.

Any comments? Am I wrong?

I am at a junction point where I am about to be really productive, and I just need to know which way to go. I'll be churning of code once I know which way to go... so a little, I need to be told to go with. If I'm just above, then if I need all the controls I'll go with the blackberry app.

If it's just a game or something with a canvas, then I can just go with the approach of the midlet.

I just need someone that has produced more commercial software to let me know if I'm right or not.

I only develop with the APIs of BB. We have some experiences of hobby with j2me Polish and a few standard tests to j2me, but restrictions are just much worse and you do not have access to many features related to BB.

That said, the native BB UI is almost as ugly as j2me. Android and IPhone are miles ahead of him and you can see RIM trying to find at least with some basics, such as rounded corners, etc.
Give your first app a good part of the extra hours and think out of the box. You will need to develop some components that need to be reusable and allow you to have a beautiful generic application in a short time.
It begins with bitmap-buttonfields, color labelfields and other product managers to layout custom with some functions of border and objectlistfields with built-in logical treatment until bar framesets that use a fixed navigation and change only the part of the screen.

Usually, you want to improve the appearance of your application, the next time - make sure you have a prepared concept for your library or you end up with incompatible versions for your older projects.

    I use Flash 8 that I haven't used since ' 06, so I don't know how to do much.

    I am trying to create a shell game. I have a chart of the shell I want to load to the scene. Because now I will load 3 of them, but I want it to be variable so I can add shells more if I want to.

    So I guess I have 3 questions:

    1. how to dynamically load the graph?

    2 is it better to use them as graphics or should they be a movieclip?

    3. how to move or mix the shells? I mean, what is the best way to move the shells because I need 2 shells move at the same time.

    Place the image into a movieclip in the library and give it a link ID (right-click of the mc in the library and select link).  Then, you can use the attachMovie() function to dynamically load the shell of movieclip instances.

    For mve shells you can use the built-in Tween class, or a third party to the tweening class as TweenLite/TweenMax.  You can also use an onEnterFrame approach.  If you need help with these, try Google search using terms like "Tween AS2 tutorial" or «AS2 onEnterFrame tutorial»

So I uninstalled FSX all together and reinstalled fresh and put on FSX SP1, it was going well until I put FSX SP2, the same thing happened again, messed up graphics.

    Method 1:

    Adjust display settings

    Many recent Microsoft games require a card video and monitor that can run a resolution of at least 800 x 600 in color (16 bit). Set the resolution of Windows display on 800 x 600 in color (16 bit), and then test the game. To do this, follow these steps:

    1. in Windows XP, click Start, point to settings and then click Control Panel.
    In Windows Vista, click on start to reduce this includes personalization thtype in the Search box and then click on personalization in the programs list.

    2. in Windows XP, double-click display.
    In Windows Vista, click display settings.

    3. click on the settings tab.

    4. move the slider of the desktop area or screen area slider to 800 x 600 pixel definition.

    5. in the Color Palette box or in the color box, click colors (16 bit).

    6. click OK and then click OK again.

    Check or turn on Direct 3D

    2. on the display tab, verify that all DirectX features are enabled. If all the features are disabled, click enable next to the feature.
    Note If some DirectX features are unavailable, verify that your video card meets the minimum requirements.

  • Games Explorer opens very slowly, diagnostic, need help to heal.

    This is an old topic but, I found just what exactly is the cause it is so slow, now I need help, correct.

    Symptom: The Games Explorer menu or a window, takes a lot of time to load all the shortcuts.

    Frequency: It seems to be a cycle time, even if I have not taken the time to set it. Once the menu is allowed to load completely, it will then instantly for a certain period of time. After this time, it loads and then start again slowly once again the cycle.

    Reproducible: 100%

    Cause: AV real-time analysis is something to do with the menu scanning.

    Evidence:

    #1 using process explore * you can see MsMpEng.exe fire upwards and on my system using 25% of cpu resources, when you open the menu/window and run until finally loading shortcuts, then stop.

    #2 Si you disable real-time scanning * menu loads instantaneously, every time.

    I need to know what exactly is swept, why it is wiped out and how to stop the research of...

    I tried to add the "C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\GameExplorer" folder to the exclusion list because that's where shortcuts seem to be actually created. It made no difference.

    I tried to add the folder "C:\Games" I have install all my games there too. It made no difference.

    With the help of Games Explorer Manager , I modified each shortcut so that the AppPathExe = the real game.exe and not the file created by windows. It made no difference.

    Using the same program I also removed any url * of each shortcut. It made no difference.

    Please DO NOT suggest any action that you yourself have not personally confirmed the result of.

    Hi, I'm newer to Premiere Pro (using the new version of Pro obtained in March 2010 on a PC) and watched all the tutorials (lots of video) and read a LOT about the subject! And I have answered several questions about mine. But there is one main thing (that I'll probably have to divide it into 2 or more questions) that I just got a complete knowledge & really your expert need help on!

    Thank you very, VERY MUCH! Really...

    I have designed/product audio (music) for a while now and when you start a new session just, you select your sample rate & are locked in for the most part therefore... Pretty simple... Now with Pro, when you start your new session, you choose your Preset sequence. Now for this first project, a video clip (3 minutes), the audio is done (as I said) and for the clip, we use images from several sources including: maybe 55% compared with a mini-camera DV, 40% of the .vob files right & the remaining 5% of some mpeg files + a few YouTube videos (we only have it our preserved images of front on YouTube) + some JPEGs (still images). And we plan to export the final video on YouTube and the internet. And we want also ready to be broadcast on both television (MTV, some media, shows, etc.). And Yes, we will also use it on cell phones (even if it is the least important right now). So 3 main exports (which I believe are all made at the end through media encoder).

    Believe you choose the one that best fits to of your assets sizes & frame rate [in this case, which is a camera film regular DV; & mediainfo said the .vob file = 720 x 480 (4:3) to 29.970 fps MPEG video (NTSC), one of the shots (of our) YouTube = 480 x 270 (16:9) at 29.970 fps STROKE, a MPEG = 352 x 288 (4:3) at 25.000 fps and 2 examples of jpeg = 300 x 400 (size = 57 KB)] and another = 720 x 450 (size = 100 KB)]. So if I am wrong in my assumption on the choice of a pre-defined sequence just on the best corresponds to the your assets rates & sizes, I would choose (I think): DV-NTSC Standard 48 kHz (the 48 just to 41 over our audio sampling frequency). 

    And if all goes well, it is excellent for our export needs YouTube at the end of the process the video & tv as well!

    .. . Is this correct?

    Can I choose the predefined sequence that best matches most of the sizes/frame rate of your assets?

    * And ESPECIALLY... is CE Preset of the sequence is the BEST for this current music video (based on the sources of our assets & where it will be considered when it is finished - mainly of YouTube, & also some TV [for media and broadcasting] - probably on a DVD, I guess)?

    Or I'm wrong, & it (your Preset Sequence) depends on your final product & the output?

    My friend (who admits that he is no expert in some way) explained that I would probably go with HDV 1080 p 30 as this will give a much better value for my release. But after he saw the results in Pro with this setting for my property, he agrees with MY above conclusion instead. 

    When you use the DV - NTSC Standard 48 kHz preset, I saw the asset in the Source monitor Panel (& then dragged the clips to the timeline) & seen in the finale of "Project Monitor" (I think it is called). And they looked decent in this final screen (where I'll crop & use some shared screens sometimes). 

    And when I used his suggestion of 1080 p HDV 30, assets looked ok in the Source monitor Panel (I think), but very little in the final project monitor. 

    • And led me to another big question - when you use the jpeg format which is 1280 x 960 e.g. (largest

    as the previous ones) in the Standard DV NTSC 48 kHz preset, happening in the Source monitor. But when you drag it down to the timeline and view it in the program monitor, the head was cut off, etc. and of course, when you use instead the HDV 1080 p 30 preset, as larger jpeg even adapt very well in the in the program monitor. Now, I understand that this is because the size of the frame (dimensions) close match those of the HDV preset. I get it. What none of us got was however WHY in the DV - NTSC Standard 48 kHz preset, he looks very well in the Source monitor Panel (but not in the program monitor)? (The two were simply put to 'Fit'). We thought he not would not have looked at well & fit fine and complete source of follow-up at first - but that's the difference between this largest jpeg display when it is displayed in two different monitors that really confused us!

    • And the final main confusion on this topic lies in something, that a technician in Adobe, tell us, informing that

    We can create multiple sequences. Now, I saw How to do this in the project Panel, but it's really the full understanding of the workings that we don't get. The tech said: "each sequence MUST have the good frame rates, sizes of images." Ok, you understand - understood. And he said: we can be: convert the size of the image (of this large jpeg example, say reducing) to match the predefined video frame size. But in this way, we would lose the quality (jpeg - assets). And he says: - or - you CAN use multiple sequences for different sources & when everything is completed (the whole video), I just export it them all as a single project! And I have that a sequence may be getting the DV preset (with the heights of these assets corresponding closely to this preset) and another sequence (in the same project) can be the HDV preset (with the heights of remaining assets corresponds closely to the preset instead). , But he couldn't explain was: how you can view your entire music video (3 minutes) in its entirety in Pro. It seems that when you choose a 2nd sequence, it obviously creates on the timeline, and assets that you put in the 1st (DV) timeline is completely separate from the 2nd (HDV) timeline. And you get no display either at the same time (because they are distinct sequences). 

    So... is this true?

    Are we supposed to use multiple sequences within our project to clip one of the assets with a higher (or other) image size/rate?

    And you export sequences as a final clip?

    And if so, HOW the world watch you your video chats (in the monitor of the project with all of your changes - as you change) when you use more than one sequence?

    Sorry, it seems quite stretched out, but I want to answer your questions you can in turn have for me & be clear so I can finally receive clarity on this topic!

    I know it's much, but if you could address all of the above questions (more background or discussion - is but a handful of issues in there), you have my gratitude... we were afraid to start the part of the video of this project is NOT know what sequence preset start with (as "we don't want to be locked into the wrong choice & waste weeks of editing), let alone a good understanding of the 'why' or the ramifications!

    Rendering is done on a basis as needed. If we do a complex animation with keyframes, or if they have odd source files, they could do. For keyframe animations, I could make this section of the timeline of a dozen or more times. Otherwise, maybe not.

    Rendering is the production of AV files, just for reading. They take a lot of space and will take a while. It's one of the reasons that a Publisher must familiarize themselves with the WAB (work area bar), so that they do things like rendering for all what they might need. Tip: remember to put this back to the full timeline.

    I created an effect straight project. I want to make four 4 very specific uses.  Unfortunately, I don't know anything about these formats to be given options in AE - CS4.  One of the many 'rendering settings' and 'output module' settings 'make model '.  This seems the best option for me given my future use: 1) for the DVD; (2) for electronic mail; (3) for YouTube. (4) my web site.  I read and reread the rendering and export options in the manual of use-AE CS4 without success in understanding what each option should be used for.  I need help in the translation of pixelpicker-talk.

    Can someone help me about these accurate "rendering settings" and "output module" parameters listed in AE in the option "make and model"?

    I understand - I think the article using After Effects is a very complete resource, explaining the various features and their purposes. But the real world is full of special cases that are very difficult to address in a manual. In addition, it is a moving target. Different best options today probably the best choice, next year.

    Let's see if we can help here:

    1-. DVD: on the technical side, it is always MPEG-2. A very specific taste of MPEG-2. But while After Effects will let you export a file of this type (choosing the MPEG - 2 DVD is predefined in the output Module), it is also true that most of the applications (such as Adobe Encore DVD) DVD authoring are very friendly in terms of letting you wear one (ideally, uncompressed) Quicktime or AVI (which in no way is compatible DVD) and do the encoding in MPEG-2 for you. So it is up to you: you can encode EI using the preset DVD MPEG-2, or you can use an application of coding specialized (such as Adobe Media Encoder in stand-alone mode) or simply let the DVD authoring application do the encoding for you. This should be very simple and in this case, you can simply render a Quicktime or AVI file without loss (there is a model of output Module called "Lossless" who will take care of everything. You can use the default value, the 'best' model to make settings in most cases).

    2-. E-mail: on the one hand, you need something that is really light and as good quality as possible. In the other, you want something universal compatibility, which can be read in all or almost all computers. H264 (advanced version of MPEG-4) format is really good in terms of efficiency, but its ' adoption is perhaps not as widespread yet. Flash Video (FLV) is really good in this regard. In this case, you could choose Adobe Flash Video (FLV) as the format in the output Module and then choose preset FLV 'Flash 8 web small' for this purpose.

    3 YouTube: it's not that simple. The ideal format for YouTube is not quite exist, they insist on the re-encoding each file that you download, even if your file is technically identical in every way to their versions. So what you want here is something that looks good and it isn't huge to download. This all spells 'H264', in my opinion. The details depend on the question of if your Composition is HD or SD, 4:3 or 16:9, etc. Strange as it may seem, the big "iPod" preset for the format H264 is a good starting point. You can customize it to increase the speed of transmission a little (maybe 2 or 2.5 Mbps, against 1.5 Mbps).

    4 website: even once, you need something that most people already have in their computers. Flash Video is an excellent choice, since about 98 percent of users have the Flash plugin. But in this case, you can have more great heights and flow rates, so you can use the "Flash 8 big' defined by default as a starting point. Once the Flash 10 plugin (which now supports the H264 in addition FLV) spreads in the future, you could standardize on H264 in a delivery format, with different settings for each type of destination.

  • Need help with network home using Airport extreme

    I need help with my home network.  I'm not very aware when it comes to all things network.  Here's how my network is currently set up.

    Cable modem to Airport Extreme for Gigabit Switch.  Cables come out of the switch to all areas of the House.  I have 2 other extreme airport connected in other rooms of the House directly on the wall that dates back to the switch.  I hope I am explaining that properly.

    My problem is that this seems to have caused some of my connections cable does not work.  When everything is configured, it has worked well.  All connections in the House worked.  Then we have disconnected one of the extreme airport and moved to another location in the House to have the best wifi coverage.  Since that time, a lot of the ethernet wall plugs are not working.  For example, when I plug in my Macbook Pro in making ethernet in my kitchen, it says connected but it has an assigned ip address and cannot connect to the internet.

    Any help you can provide would be great.

    The layout is fine... but you can cause problems with the network by creating a loop.

    This can happen because the AE you moved is connected wrongly... somewhere in the network it is connected to the switch again.

    Or AE is set to expand wireless... It's FAKE... It will loop the network on the back main EI wireless.

    Unplug the two AE you have that function as extensions...

    Turning off everything else... then it works again...

    Do it in this order.

    Modem... Wait 2 min

    AE... Wait 2 min

    Switch.

    Now check that the network is working properly... power of customers in various locations and make sure everything is good.

    If so, then manually reset the two AE of factory and redo their installation.
