Best of Windows Entertainment Pack (BOWEP)
How can I get my best of Windows Entertainment Pack (BOWEP) to operate on 64 or 32 bit Vista
Hi croysterjr,
Welcome to Microsoft Answers Forums.
The best of Windows Entertainment Pack only works on operating systems prior to Windows 95.
However as a work around you can try to run the game in compatibility mode in Windows Vista.
To change the settings for compatibility manually for a program, right-click the program icon, click Properties, and then click the compatibility tab.
For more information, see the link below.

Hope this information is useful.
Let me know if it worked.
All the best!
Thanks and greetings

Canyon.Mid and the challenge of the chip in the best of Windows Entertainment Pack
I Challenge the Chip of the Windows Entertainment Pack and try to play the third song (canyon.mid). I have it in the same directory as chips.exe, but nevertheless chips.exe will play only chip01.mid and chip02.mid, but not canyon.mid as initially in the BOWEP on my old PC.
I tried using CCHack.exe (part of the CCTools package) so he could play all 3 songs, but for some reason canyon.mid is not recognized. Do I have the file in the right place? Should it be elsewhere rather than the same directory as chips.exe?
Thank you.
Hello
I remember Challenge of Chip, it was a great game for Windows. In any case, canyon.mid should be located in the directory "Windows" for the game to recognize it-city of wikipedia:
For the Windows version, original soundtrack of the game has two called 'chip01.mid' and 'chip02.mid' looping midi tracks. If "canyon.mid" is located in the Windows directory, the game alternates between the three songs.

I have been using the following games; Taipei (Majongg tiles), Tetris, Golf (cards) and cruel (maps), which came with MS Entertainment Pack for Windows (1990) and who has worked with every version of MS Windows since 95 Windodws. I can use them with Windows Vista but I can't use them on Windows 7, I really enjoy these games and like to use them in Windows 7 and 8.
"All Microsoft Entertainment Pack games work on Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8, but this only applies to 32-bit versions. The NTVDM allows 16-bit applications run in 32-bit versions of Windows. In the 64-bit versions of these operating systems are 32-bit applications be run in a compatibility layer in the kernel and layer 16 bit must be rewraped, this is why Microsoft has removed the feature. "(from Wikipedia)
It's true. I tested the games ("Best of Windows Entertainment Pack", similar to the MEP even older) on 32-bit Windows 7, no problem. On Windows 7, 64 bit, they don't work (except if try you heavy workaround solutions like running Windows 3.1 on an emulator of BACK, then using this virtual operating system to run games).

Original title: cannot install Microsoft Entertainment pack on windows 7? Can you help me?
Have the old Microsoft Entetainment pack diskette... Bought a USB floppy drive and tried to load. Received message that the disk is not comnpatable with my Windows 7 operating system. If anyone can help?
The games were made for 16 bits and last years run natively on XP.
If you have Windows 7 Professional, you could install XP Mode and then install the games in XP Mode, the games were not heavy on graphics and should run ok.
This requires that the XP mode will recognize the floppy USB drive...

Hello
Try to re - install ZoneAlarm on laptop, BUT it tells me that I must upgrade to the Microsoft Windows Service Pack 1 (SP1) to do this... I am running Windows Vista and when I click on windows update it works for literally hours without anything happeneing.
Zone Alarm has a key valid license - but for some strange reason, he will not have, so I had to uninstall and reinstall ZoneAlarm - he tells me that I need this update - who will not come?
Note: Windows Firewall is turned on right now and when I look at 'exceptions' does not offer updates of windows as part of the selection list.
Please, any advice on this will be greatly appreciated.

Installation of Windows Service Pack 2 - spinstall.exe "Win 32 invalid app".
When trying to download Windows Service Pack 2, I get "spinstall.exe is not a valid Win32 application" which makes impossible installation. It was on the second and third effort.
The first time I tried to download and install the Windows SP2, I got "Extraction failed. amd64\update\update.exe is not a valid Win32 application.
How can I download Windows SP2 successfully. The computer is running Windows SP1?

Windows Service Pack 2 help?
Why did I get this error during the installation of service pack 2? (a component does not match the verification information present in the component manifest)
This forum handles Windows Update for Windows XP, Vista and Win7 problems, despite what you see at the top of this page or in the URL.
Why was he not SP2, not to mention SP3 installed years ago? If you still use Windows XP Gold or WinXP SP1, you cannot have a fully functional anti-virus application installed.
