Best practices of size font

When determining the size of the basic content in a web page fonts, what is now considered best practices with regard to the definition of the font sizes in the CSS stylesheet?    Wouldn't be a specific size (e.g. 12 pt), or a percentage or em?  Just curious as to what is a common practice today because I remodel a previous website.  TKS.

You can set pretty much your policy as you seem. If it is too small, your viewer increases just the size in their browser.

For this reason, make sure that you stay away from the heights of css layout text containers. That can quickly cause enlarged extend beyond the container and blow out the design of the text (text goes out of its container) and the readability (text fields overlap) of your site.

PT is a measure of printing, do not use it. Online you should use em (default is usually 16 pixels per 1 EM) or rem (although DW cannot support as currently in Design view). CSS units

    Hello. I want to create a dual-boot installation, both using Win XP Pro SP3 on a large hard drive while having an extended partition available for data. I expect in the next two years, going to upgrade to Windows 7 Pro. Put the two primary partitions to 20 GB enough or should I go ahead and do 40-50GB each in preparation for a future upgrade. Thank you!

    20 GB is too small to install and run Windows 7 well.  I'd go with 40 to 50 GB. Boulder computer Maven

  • What is the best practice to block through several layers sizes: hardware and hypervisor VM OS?

    The example below is not a real Setup, I work with, but should get the message. Here's my example of what I'm doing as a reference layer:

    (LAYER1) Hardware: The hardware RAID controller

    • -1 TB Volume configured in the 4K block size. (RAW)?

    (Layer2) Hypervisor: Data store ESXi

    • -1 TB of Raid Controller formatted with VMFS5 @ block size of 1 MB.

    Layer (3) the VM OS: Server 2008 R2 w/SQL

    • -100 GB virtual HD using NTFS @ 4 K for the OS block size.
    • -900 GB virtual HD set up using NTFS @ 64 K block size to store the SQL database.

    It seems that vmfs5 is limited to only having a block size of 1 MB. It would be preferable that all or part of the size of the blocks matched on different layers and why or why not? What are the different block sizes on other layers and performance? Could you suggest better alternative or best practices for the sample configuration above?

    If a San participated instead of a hardware on the host computer RAID controller, it would be better to store the vmdk of OS on the VMFS5 data store and create an iSCSI separated THAT LUN formatted to a block size of 64 K, then fix it with the initiator iSCSI in the operating system and which size to 64 K. The corresponding block sizes through layers increase performance or is it advisable? Any help answer and/or explaining best practices is greatly appreciated.

    itsolution,

    Thanks for the helpful response points.  I wrote a blog about this which I hope will help:

    Alignment of partition and blocks of size VMware 5 | blog.jgriffiths.org

    To answer your questions here, will:

    I have 1 TB of space (around) and create two Virutal Drives.

    Virtual Drive 1-10GB - to use for OS Hyper-visiere files

    Virtual Drive 2 - 990 GB - used for the storage of data/VM VMFS store

    The element size of default allocation on the Perc6 / i is 64 KB, but can be 8,16,32,64,128,256,512 or 1024 KB.

    What size block would you use table 1, which is where the real hyper-visiere will be installed?

    -> If you have two tables I would set the size of the block on the table of the hypervisor to 8 KB

    What block size that you use in table 2, which will be used as the VM data store in ESXi?

    ->, I'd go with 1024KO on VMFS 5 size

    -Do you want 1024KO to match the VMFS size which will be finally formatted on top he block?

    -> Yes

    * Consider that this database would eventually contain several virtual hard drives for each OS, database SQL, SQL logs formatted to NTFS to the recommended block, 4K, 8K, 64K size.

    -> The problem here is THAT VMFS will go with 1 MB, no matter what you're doing so sculpture located lower in the RAID will cause no problems but does not help either.  You have 4 k sectors on the disk.  RAID 1 MB, 1 MB invited VMFS, 4 k, 8K, 64 K.   Really, 64K gains are lost a little when the back-end storage is 1 MB.

    If the RAID stripe element size is set to 1 024 Ko so that it matches the VMFS 1 MB size of block, which would be better practice or is it indifferent?

    -> So that's 1024KB, or 4 KB chucks it doesn't really matter.

    What effect this has on the OS/Virtual HD and their sizes respective block installed on top of the tape and the size of block VMFS element?

    -> The effect is minimal on the performance but that exists.   It would be a lie to say that he didn't.

    I could be completely on the overall situation of the thought, but for me it seems that this must be some kind of correlation between the three different "layers" as I call it and a best practice in service.

    Hope that helps.  I'll tell you I ran block size SQL and Exchange time virtualized without any problem and without changing the operating system.  I just stuck with the standard size of microsoft.  I'd be much more concerned by the performance of the raid on your server controller.  They continue to do these things cheaper and cheaper with cache less and less.  If performance is the primary concern then I would consider a matrix or a RAID5/6 solution, or at least look at the amount of cache on your raid controller (reading is normally essential to the database)

    Just my two cents.

    Let me know if you have any additional questions.

  • Size of the file - best practices

    I am putting together my first iPad app DPS and looking for a few tips to keep the manageable file size.

    I did a quick project about 6 pages and it came as a huge 28 MB. My document end will be about 100 pages (x 2 for directions)

    I really did nothing to try to reduce the size of the files in the project, I used PSD images with layers and not a not resize to 1024 x 768. Same thing with any jpg I used. I should do? Also, I did not bother to check if the image was CMYK or RGB. Basicially, I was working on the assumption that the images would be optimized in the process.

    I created the files using JPG because I wanted to use the content viewer Desktop and I get PDF's will help with the size of the file. But that will make a big difference?

    Is the largest part of this DPS overload just 28Mo or will it increase proportionally I've added pages?

    You are looking for just best practices.

    Thank you

    Brian

    A few tips:

    (1) we will be re-sample images to the right size, so don't worry if your sourc eimages are bigger they must do.

    2) publish as PDF. This will make a big difference if you have a lot of text content.

    (3) not to publish two orientations. While we do support the feature, this means you have to do twice the work of layout and the size of the file is quite a bit larger. Choose an orientation that works best for your content, and stick with that. The vast majority of our publishers only portrait or landscape, not both.

  • More file size small .swf - best practices?

    I make the flash banner for a website of the College and the CBS guidelines require that all size of the file is less than 40 k.  How the hell can you do something with it?

    (A) unused library items don't effect the .swf file size?

    (B) I use a lower res .jpg for a background that is about 10 k, and each line of text that I use to only 40 images looks like 20 k! (3 sets of text = 60 k)  Why plain text is so great?

    Interpolations and clips video creation C) really seems to influence the size of the file, which is essentially correct?

    (D) all considered, is the main thing that affects the final size .swf, the size of each file used on the timeline? Is there a best practice for converting graphics graphics clips, clips video, symbols, etc. ?

    Answers to one of them would be much appreciated, this is driving me crazy. 40 k is so small!

    Thank you

    Damon

    (A) No, it does not affect the SWF file

    (B) create textfields and load image execution of external source

    (C) It will have an impact on the size to the minimum level, you can also use the tween class to animate

    (D) load bitmap from an external source

    Consider at least a level of Kbs.

  • best practices to configure or detect the size of the screen?

    Hi all

    Try to determine a best practice for setting or the detection of the size of the screen. Playbook and iOS, I can put them. But for Android, the number of devices is too big, so I would rather to detect. My first choice is to use the stage.stageWidth, stage.stageHeight. It works fine if I put my stage with standard metadata properties:

    [SWF (height ="320"width ="480"frameRate ="64", backgroundColor = "" "#010101")]

    However, if I use the application descriptor file to set the dimensions of the stage (like the one proposed by Christian Cantrell here http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flash/articles/authoring_for_multiple_screen_sizes.html()

    <initialWindow>

    <>aspectRatiolandscape< /aspectRatio>

    <>autoOrientsfalse< /autoOrients>

    <>width320< /width>

    <>height480< /> height

    <full screen>true< /> fullscreen

    < /initialWindow>

    Then the stage.stageWidth, stage.stageHeight are not the correct numbers when my main class is added to the stage. Shortly after the main class is added to the scene, these figures are very well. Is there an event that I can wait to know the stage.stageWidth, stage.stageHeight are correct?

    Thanks in advance!

    I'm struggling to think of what the problem might be with stageWidth/height not set correctly during the test with IE, but who was a flex project, I noticed a strange behavior before (width/height is not correct until the preloader ran)

    It has intrigued me, so I can grab the google project and test, but it may be some days I'm a bit busy at the mo.

    WAG - erg is nice idea btw

  • Best practices for setting in RoboHelp to create .chm?

    I have Tech Com Suite 2015. I need to make a FrameMaker book .chm file. I tried to do directly from chassis, but was not happy with the results, so I will try to do a RoboHelp project instead.  Can someone help me with best practices to achieve. I would like to than my files related to RoboHelp, so that I don't have to start over if they are updated. I tried to work with it. You can fix things after you import? For example, if I have does not have difficulty cross-references (and delete page for example numbers) in FrameMaker, before the import/lining, what I have to do it again?  I have worked with FrameMaker for quite a long time, but I'm less familiar with RoboHelp. Is there a video or webinar showing how to do this? Or can someone give some tips and things that I should know about this procedure. Thank you

    Hello

    1. the table of contents at the same level:

    To create levels of navigation OCD in a table of contents in the output to publish FM, we need to change either the first indent, the property size or weight are.

    We determine the level by setting these properties by Tag:

    -First indent,

    -Font Size,

    -Font

    by example, so if you want to have titre3 appear inside Title2 like this:

    Titre3

    Title2

    In Para designer > properties updated by designer of these 2 tags (Heading2TOC, Heading3TOC):

    -First indent Heading2TOC Heading3TOC more

    - Or font of Heading2TOC less Heading3TOC

    - Or the size of the police of Heading2TOC less Heading3TOC

    2. the option Enable browse sequence allows the navigation arrows. Try to activate the option "activate browse Sequence. (apply the latest Patch, help > updates)

    3. Once you create your table of contents, you will see the title of the chapter begins to appear in the breadcrumbs.

    Main effort, you'll need to do, is to create a table of contents leveled once it made should solve the issues you face.

  • TDMS &amp; Diadem best practices: what happens if my mark has breaks/cuts?

    I created a LV2011 datalogging application that stores a lot of data to TDMS files.  The basic architecture is like this:

    Each channel has these properties:

    To = start time

    DT = sampling interval

    Channel values:

    Table 1 d of the DBL values

    After the start of datalogging, I still just by adding the string values.  And if the size of the file the PDM goes beyond 1 GB, I create a new file and try again.  The application runs continuously for days/weeks, so I get a lot of TDMS files.

    It works very well.  But now I need to change my system to allow the acquisition of data for pause/resume.  In other words, there will be breaks in the signal (probably from 30 seconds to 10 minutes).  I had originally considered two values for each point of registration as a XY Chart (value & timestamp) data.  But I am opposed to this principal in because according to me, it fills your hard drive unnecessarily (twice us much disk footprint for the same data?).

    Also, I've never used a tiara, but I want to ensure that my data can be easily opened and analyzed using DIAdem.

    My question: are there some best practices for the storage of signals that break/break like that?  I would just start a new record with a new time of departure (To) and tiara somehow "bind" these signals... for example, I know that it is a continuation of the same signal.

    Of course, I should install Diadem and play with him.  But I thought I would ask the experts on best practices, first of all, as I have no knowledge of DIAdem.

    Hi josborne;

    Do you plan to create a new PDM file whenever the acquisition stops and starts, or you were missing fewer sections store multiple power the same TDMS file?  The best way to manage the shift of date / time is to store a waveform per channel per section of power and use the channel property who hails from waveform TDMS data - if you are wiring table of orange floating point or a waveform Brown to the TDMS Write.vi "wf_start_time".  Tiara 2011 has the ability to easily access the time offset when it is stored in this property of channel (assuming that it is stored as a date/time and not as a DBL or a string).  If you have only one section of power by PDM file, I would certainly also add a 'DateTime' property at the file level.  If you want to store several sections of power in a single file, PDM, I would recommend using a separate group for each section of power.  Make sure that you store the following properties of the string in the TDMS file if you want information to flow naturally to DIAdem:

    'wf_xname '.
    'wf_xunit_string '.
    'wf_start_time '.
    'wf_start_offset '.
    'wf_increment '.

  • Best practices of a partition of HDD on Windowes Server2008 and Windowes 2012

    What is the best practice for partition of HDD on Windowes Server 2008 and 2012 Windowes

    Could be interesting to ask more http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/winservergen/threads that you can get more answers.

    That said I would say that very much depends on what you intend to do with the server, and of course how much space you have available.

    For a general server I would probably go with two volumes, the C:\ drive for the file system and a second volume for your data, for example E:\. I recommend at LEAST 30 GB for the C:\, 40-50 GB preference, since updates, patches, etc will burn way over time and it's much easier to start big than to try to develop later.

    If you are running the Terminal Services, then you will probably need a larger C:\ amount as a large part of the user profile data is stored there in order to run lack of space fairly easily.

    As I said, it depends on what you do, how much space and disks you have available etc, it isn't really a one-size-fits-all answers.

  • Best practices using clusters to create the queue/notifier/bundles?

    I'm in a block diagram, a queue, the notifier and several instances of cluster of bundle

    that all use the same data structure.   There is a typedef of cluster for the data structure.

    Of course, each of these objects (define the queue, set notifier, bundle)

    you want to know how do you define the cluster.

    What is considered best practices?

    (1) create a dummy instance of the cluster across data structure

    definition is necessary (and hide all on the public Service)

    (2) create only one instance and son at all places, it is necessary

    But there is no stream on this thread: it's only the cluster * definition *.

    which is used, so this seems to clutter the comic.

    (3) create only one instance of the cluster control and use local variables

    everywhere else the definition of cluster is required.  It's _value_ is never

    assigned or given read-so no problem with race conditions.

    (4) another way?

    If you were to clean up someone else's code, how do you expect

    See this Treaty?

    It occurred to me during this writing that here where I

    "unbundle...... code bundle" I could wire the original beam to the

    the two "unbundle" and "bundle" - but that would be too complicated

    and the size of the comics with useless thread?

    Thank you and best regards,

    -- J.

    Hi Jeff,

    I think that this question is about "sharing" the typedef and not how share data (?)  If the cluster control is registered as a typedef (or a strict typedef) but NOT SIMPLY as a CONTROL, then when a Diagram-constant of the typedef is created, it will be updated when you update the .ctl typedef!  (and there is no FP control to hide )  Of course if the typdef is already available "close" if necessary, you will be able to use instead - save a spacer of diagram.

    See you soon.

    Is there a best practice recommended by Cisco on this?

    Thank you.

    Hi Stephane,

    That's right, internal interface means SM1/0.

    The best way is to have traffic at the start of the internal interface module so that we are sure, it hits the redirect exclude statement and that we do not have the crest of the loops because WCCP.

  • Best practices for the application of page multi Landscape/Portrait

    Hello

    Is there for example some best practices how to modify this code to have pages and components with the same sizes in portrait and landscape? On presentation buttons size always 150 width and height 45 and wil containers have stageWidth and stageHeight.

    Thank you if someone could help with this problem

    Hello

    Try listening to a shift in focus screen with this code:

    stage.addEventListener(Event.RESIZE, onResizeHandler, false, 0, true);

    You can only change the width/height of your components to the event based on the width/height of the floor.

    I will guard against specifying specific sizes, if you want your code to work on devices BB10. I recommend using %'s.

  • Sliders - best practices

    Hi all

    This question is based on the thread: Re: best practices with the sliders with curls

    Here I've created the same script with different methods.

    1 CURSOR

    ------------------

    DECLARE

    CURSOR table_count

    IS

    SELECT table_name

    From user_tables

    ORDER BY 1;

    sqlstr VARCHAR2 (1000);

    numrow NUMBER;

    BEGIN

    Dbms_output.put_line ('Start time' | to_char (sysdate,' dd-mon-yyyy hh24:mi:ss'));))

    I'm IN table_count

    LOOP

    sqlstr: = 'SELECT COUNT (*) FROM "| i.table_name;

    EXECUTE IMMEDIATE sqlstr INTO numrow;

    If numrow > 0 then

    Dbms_output.put_line (RPAD (i.table_name, 30, '.') |) ' = ' || numrow);

    end if;

    END LOOP;

    Dbms_output.put_line ('End time' | to_char (sysdate,' dd-mon-yyyy hh24:mi:ss'));))

    END;

    My understanding:

    He's going to line-by-line treatment generally slow performance

    2. BULK COLLECT

    -----------------------------

    DECLARE

    sqlstr VARCHAR2 (1000);

    numrow NUMBER;

    Table-name TYPE is table of the varchar2 (30);

    tNom table_name;

    BEGIN

    Dbms_output.put_line ('Start time' | to_char (sysdate,' dd-mon-yyyy hh24:mi:ss'));))

    SELECT table_name

    TNom LOOSE COLLECTION

    From user_tables

    ORDER BY 1;

    BECAUSE me IN tNom. FIRST... tNom. COUNTY

    LOOP

    sqlstr: = 'SELECT COUNT (*) FROM "| tname (i);

    EXECUTE IMMEDIATE sqlstr INTO numrow;

    If numrow > 0 then

    Dbms_output.put_line (RPAD (tname (i), 30, '.') |) ' = ' || numrow);

    end if;

    END LOOP;

    Dbms_output.put_line ('End time' | to_char (sysdate,' dd-mon-yyyy hh24:mi:ss'));))

    END;

    My understanding:

    1 avoid context switching

    2 uses more PGA

    3. THE CURSOR AND IN BULK AT COST VIRES

    --------------------------------------------------

    DECLARE

    CURSOR table_count

    IS

    SELECT table_name

    From user_tables

    ORDER BY 1;

    sqlstr VARCHAR2 (1000);

    numrow NUMBER;

    Table-name TYPE is table of the varchar2 (30);

    tNom table_name;

    BEGIN

    OPEN table_count;

    Pick up the LOOSE COLLECT tNom table_count;

    Dbms_output.put_line ('Start time' | to_char (sysdate,' dd-mon-yyyy hh24:mi:ss'));))

    BECAUSE me IN tNom. FIRST... tNom. COUNTY

    LOOP

    sqlstr: = 'SELECT COUNT (*) FROM "| tname (i);

    EXECUTE IMMEDIATE sqlstr INTO numrow;

    If numrow > 0 then

    Dbms_output.put_line (RPAD (tname (i), 30, '.') |) ' = ' || numrow);

    end if;

    END LOOP;

    Dbms_output.put_line ('End time' | to_char (sysdate,' dd-mon-yyyy hh24:mi:ss'));))

    END;

    My understanding:

    I really don't understand why some people prefer this method is to have the two SLIDER and COLLECT in BULK

    4. IMPLICIT CURSOR

    ----------------------------------

    DECLARE

    sqlstr VARCHAR2 (1000);

    numrow NUMBER;

    BEGIN

    Dbms_output.put_line ('Start time' | to_char (sysdate,' dd-mon-yyyy hh24:mi:ss'));))

    FOR I IN (SELECT table_name

    From user_tables

    ORDER BY 1)

    LOOP

    sqlstr: = 'SELECT COUNT (*) FROM "| i.table_name;

    EXECUTE IMMEDIATE sqlstr INTO numrow;

    If numrow > 0 then

    Dbms_output.put_line (RPAD (i.table_name, 30, '.') |) ' = ' || numrow);

    end if;

    END LOOP;

    Dbms_output.put_line ('End time' | to_char (sysdate,' dd-mon-yyyy hh24:mi:ss'));))

    END;

    My understanding:

    It will also gives better performance compare that loops of CURSOR

    Given that the 4 methods above do the same work, please explain how to choose the correct methods for different scenarios. That is what we have to consider before choosing a method.

    I asked this question on asktom a few years ago Tom Kyte. He recommended that the implicit cursors:

    • they have a size of 100 (not 500) extraction;
    • PL/SQL manages the opening and closing of the cursor automatically.

    He mentioned one important exception: If you need to change data and not just read it, you need in "bulk" so much read as write operations - and that is to use the FORALL.

    To use FORALL for writing, you must use the COLLECTION in BULK for reads - and you should almost always use LIMIT with the COLLECTION in BULK.

    So, to make it "in bulk the Scriptures ', use FORALL. For the ' readings in bulk "preparing the ' written in bulk ', use BULK COLLECT with LIMIT. For the ' readings in bulk "when you change all the data, implicit cursors are more simple.

  • Best practices for the integration of the Master Data Management (MDM)

    I work on the integration of MDM with Eloqua and are looking for the best approach to sync data lead/Contact changes of Eloqua in our internal MDM Hub (output only). Ideally, we would like that integration practically in real time but my findings to date suggest that there is no option. Any integration will result in a kind of calendar.

    Here are the options that we had:

    1. "Exotic" CRM integration: using internal events to capture and queue in the queue changes internal (QIP) and allows access to the queue from outside Eloqua SOAP/REST API
    2. Data export: set up a Data Export that is "expected" to run on request and exteernally annex survey via the API SOAP/REST/in bulk
    3. API in bulk: changes in voting that has happened since the previous survey through the API in bulk from Eloqua outside (not sure how this is different from the previous option)

    Two other options which may not work at all and who are potentially antimodel:

    • Cloud connector: create a campaign questioning changes to schedule and configure a connector of cloud (if possible at all) to notify MDM endpoint to query contact/lead "record" of Eloqua.
    • "Native" integration CRM (crazy): fake of a native CRM endpoint (for example, Salesforce) and use internal events and external calls to Eloqua push data into our MDM

    Issues related to the:

    1. What is the best practice for this integration?
    2. Give us an option that would give us the close integration in real-time (technically asynchronous but always / event-based reminder)? (something like the outgoing in Salesforce e-mail)
    3. What limits should consider these options? (for example API daily call, size response SOAP/REST)

    If you can, I would try to talk to Informatica...

    To imitate the integrations of native type, you use the QIP and control what activities it validated by internal events as you would with a native integration.

    You will also use the cloud api connector to allow you to set up an integration CRM (or MDM) program.

    You have fields of identification is added objects contact and account in Eloqua for their respective IDs in the MDM system and keep track of the last update of MDM with a date field.

    A task scheduled outside of Eloqua would go to a certain interval and extract the QAP changes send to MDM and pull the contacts waiting to be sent in place of the cloud connector.

    It isn't really much of anything as outgoing unfortunately use Messaging.  You can send form data shall immediately submit data to Server (it would be a bit like from collections of rule of integration running of the steps in processing of forms).

    See you soon,.

  • Receptive - best practices

    In the process of creating a sensitive site, I would also have a better training on the use of new tools and BEST PRACTICES for resizing images and objects to work best on all devices.

    For example, how large a slider should be?
    What happens if I want her to be up to 30%, then the image, the size must be created in?
    Same thing with text, Logos, Menus, etc...

    Another thing, how will this affect the new resolutions superior phones vs tablets and desktop computers? Clear teaching is necessary as well. Sony has a new phone with a resolution of 4K, which is higher than my main desktop computer! Meanwhile Muse used 380px wide to provide phone and they recommend even the same breakpoint in the "Muse of Beta reactive" too. Of course, I might just do all huge but I try to keep my fast loading sites.

    Just a few details about these things please...

    Found a few links that might help
