Best practices of a partition of HDD on Windowes Server2008 and Windowes 2012

What is the best practice for partition of HDD on Windowes Server 2008 and 2012 Windowes

Could be interesting to ask more http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/winservergen/threads that you can get more answers.

That said I would say that very much depends on what you intend to do with the server, and of course how much space you have available.

For a general server I would probably go with two volumes, the C:\ drive for the file system and a second volume for your data, for example E:\. I recommend at LEAST 30 GB for the C:\, 40-50 GB preference, since updates, patches, etc will burn way over time and it's much easier to start big than to try to develop later.

If you are running the Terminal Services, then you will probably need a larger C:\ amount as a large part of the user profile data is stored there in order to run lack of space fairly easily.

As I said, it depends on what you do, how much space and disks you have available etc, it isn't really a one-size-fits-all answers.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. I would like to know the "best practices" for unplugging my computer permanently to the internet and other updates. I thought I would do a clean install of Windows XP, install my Microsoft Works again and nothing else. I would like to effectively transforming my computer into a word processor. He continues more and more slow. I get blue screen errors, once again. I received excellent Microsoft Support when it happened before, but since my computer is around 13 years, I think it is not worth the headache to try to remedy. I ran the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor, and my computer would not be able to upgrade. Please, can someone tell me how to make it only a word processor without updates or internet connection? Hello. I want to create a dual-boot installation, both using Win XP Pro SP3 on a large hard drive while having an extended partition available for data. • Best practices for Exchange 2003 with VMWare ESXi 3.5 and iSCSI SAN

    Hello guys,.

Here's the Q? We have 1 physical Exchange 2003, the HOST of 4 and 1 iSCSI SAN with LUN 3, 1 for data, 1 for VMWare and 1 for SQL, if we're going to virtualize it, I don't know where to put data Exchage and newspapers. I do not think that that is a good practice to put together the data but I do not have another SAN. So, what can I do?

    Thank you.

    We have 813 mailbox.

I agree with cainics, start an average size and go from there.  I know it's a production mail server and you can not exactly 'play' with the settings because this requires time, but if you do the VM too big, you would have nothing left for other virtual machines.

I would go 2 vCPU and at least 4 GB of RAM, maybe 8GB.  There must be parameters for the Exchange mailbox 813 and X users # to implement your environments in order to get an idea of the amount of RAM that will be... 4GB seems minimal to me, but 8 GB would probably be better like that.

  • Best practices - dynamic distribution of VI with LV2011

I'm the code distribution which consists of a main program that calls existing (and future) vi dynamically, but one at a time. Dynamics called vi have no input or output terminals. They run one at a time, in a subgroup of experts in the main program. The main program must maintain a reference to the vi loaded dynamically, so it can be sure that the dyn. responsible VI has stopped completely before unloading the call a replacement vi. These vi do not use shared or global variables, but may have a few vi together with the main program (it would be OK to duplicate these in the version of vi).

In this context, what are best practices these days to release dynamically load of vi (and their dependants)?

If I use a library of project (.lvlib), it seems that I have to first build an .exe that contains the top-level VI (that dynamically load), so that a separate .lvlib can be generated which includes their dependencies. The content of this .lvlib and a .lvlib containing the top-level VI can be merged to create a single .lvlib, and then a packed library can be generated for distribution with the main .exe.

This seems much too involved (but necessary)?

My goal is to have a .exe for the main program and another structure containing the VI called dynamically and their dependents. It seemed so straighforward when an .exe was really a .llb a few years ago

Thanks in advance for your comments.

Continue the conversation with me here is the solution:

Runs like a champ. All dependencies are contained in the packed library and the dynamic call works fine.

  • Connecting two 6224 separate batteries best practices LAG?

    Hello

I wonder how I should configure LAG between two powerconnect 6224 batteries (2 x powerconnect 6224 by battery) for iSCSI against 4 members EQL traffic, I intend to use the 4 ports of each stack (stack cross-possible LAG on 6224?) and equallogic documentation leaves me in two minds when it wants to run LACP or not?

I wonder what reviewed best practices in this scenario?

Cross-stack, LACP and no PLEASE or am I better of without LACP?

    Thanks in advance

    Cree

The ports connecting the two piles together will be configured differently than the ports of connection of the battery to the EQL appliance. During the connection of the control unit switch EQL is when you might want to disable STP on that specific port.

«Do not use of Spanning Tree (STP) on switch ports that connect to the terminal nodes (iSCSI initiators or storage array network interfaces).» However, if you want to use STP or Rapid STP (preferable to STP), you must enable port settings available on some switches that allow the port immediately transition to PLEASE State reference to link up. This feature can reduce network interruptions that occur when devices to restart, and should only be enabled on switch ports that connect the nodes. "

With the network cards on the EQL devices according to me, there is only one active port, and the other is pending. So on the switch ports that are plug on the EQL will be in access mode for your iSCSI VLANS. Maybe someone more about EQL can chime to confirm.

Is there for example some best practices how to modify this code to have pages and components with the same sizes in portrait and landscape? On presentation buttons size always 150 width and height 45 and wil containers have stageWidth and stageHeight.

Thank you if someone could help with this problem

    Hello

Try listening to a shift in focus screen with this code:

    stage.addEventListener(Event.RESIZE, onResizeHandler, false, 0, true);

You can only change the width/height of your components to the event based on the width/height of the floor.

I will guard against specifying specific sizes, if you want your code to work on devices BB10. I recommend using %'s.

    Kind regards

  • Best practices for the compression of the image in dps

Hello! I read up on best practices for the compression of the image in dps and I read the asset from the source of panoramas, sequences of images, Pan and zoom images and audio skins is resampled not downloading. You will need to resize them and compress them before deleting the in your article, because the dps do not do it for you. Hey can do!

So Im also read as he active source of slideshows, scrolling images, and buttons ARE resampled as PNG images. Does this mean that DPS will compress for you when you build the article? Does this say I shouldn't worth going bother to resize these images at all? I can just pop in 300 DPI files 15 MB used in the print magazine and dps will compress their construction article - and this will have no effect on the size of the file?

And this is also the case with static background images?

    Thanks for your help!

All images are automatically resampled to based on the size of the folio you do. You can put in any image resolution you want, it's not serious.

  • update of best practices of folios

    Hello

I have a couple of folios that must be updated every month.  Could someone please help me with best practices for planning the release of the new folio and you ensure that it replaces the old one in the Viewer?

To begin with, in the folio builder Panel, can I create a new folio every month or can I remove items from folio of last month, change its name and keep reusing that?

I'm also a little confused about how to plan a new available for producers of folio.

I would really appreciate hearing how the whole process must be managed, Panel builder folio to folio digitalpublishing.acrobat.com producer

    Thank you!

You're doing a completely new folio for January so that publish in Folio Producer when you want to live for your readers. It replaces the previous edition, he lives next to her. Your readers will be able to see these two questions in your viewer and can choose who they want to download and read.

You can leave the new folio not published in Folio Producer until the day you are interested in to go live and then click on publish. You can also use our new feature of advanced publication date to schedule a date up to 7 days in advance for the folio automatically go live. You will see this option when you click on the button publish on the folio.

  • Best practices: collaborate between Mac and PC

Department of development for the Web of my not-for-profit organization is expanding - me on a PC using Dreamweaver and ColdFusion, me / PC more a co-worker in Dreamweaver on Mac.

I'm looking for some advice from someone who did the development with a Mac and PC. Basically, I'm looking for "best practices" on how we work together, without spoiling each and other work. It will focus on aspects of the design of the projects: CSS, for example. I work primarily on ColdFusion coding that allows to make information in our databases .cfm pages.

I am just afraid to get into a situation where he has made changes to a single version of a file and I have make changes to another - disaster! Otherwise, I'm worried (as he's a new guy... I've known him for about two weeks!) that his work could "ruin" pages that worked very well until he got his hands on them.

Advice would be really appreciated. Because him and me have these complementary skills, this could be a great collaboration. I want to just make sure we do it as straight as possible from the get-go. -diane

  • Essbase for reporting - is this best practice?

    Hello
We have installed HFM v11 with DRM. We want to be able to plan and produce reports using Smartview. Consultant suggested that we build an Essbase cube in order to get the zoom capability of eliminations and other details. Who is considered "best practice"? Can we not use Smartview to declare and to break into the repository of HFM SQL?
    Thanks in advance

This looks like a lot of work/maintenance.

    (1) you can easily program reports to aid Financial Reporting of Hyperion and batch Scheduler in the workspace.
    (2) you can use Extended Analytics to the largest reporting requirements and query data via an ODBC connection with access, etc.
    (3) you can use the VBA of SmartView feature to auto-refresh reports 'open' and save a copy in a different location - so you can run the macros via the Windows Task Scheduler.

  • Best practices for the Vm disk partitioning

I want to create a server of Windows 2012 by c:\ and d:\ partitions what the best practice it is btw SQL database server. Should I create a hd c: and then add another hd d:\ all on the same data store. I read that the use of applications and partitioning tools is more metal applications for real and to create a virtual machine two separate readers would be too easy and better recovery or future expansion on the drive.

Yes, create a separate virtual disk (VMDK) for each partition or volume under Windows. If the workload is light - to begin with, you can leave all VMDK in working area of the virtual machine and then if you need to divide the discs in different data stores you can do it later.
What can talk you about your workload and virtual infrastructure you have - you what version of vSphere are registered for the?
  • Best practices: multiple partitions on a single vmdk or partition by vmdk

    Hello all-

I would like to get your opinions on the best practices for the vmdk file server installation program.

The drive C partition would be allotted for the operating system, while E, F... to store the data of the partitions.

    configuration 1:

vmdk1 = thick disk of provisioned by a partition of drive c.

    vmdk2 = thickness accommodation provisioned disk partitions E, f...

    Installer 2

vmdk1 = thick disk of provisioned by a C partition

vmdk2 = thick disk of provisioned by a partition E

vmdk3 = thick disk of provisioned by a partition F

    .......

Also the partitions of multiple data configured as independent + permanent virtual disks due to snapshots. My logic is that OS (C drive) is used for snapshots in test of new software for example while the data partitions act as the storage disks that need to keep the most recent files regardless of the return to an older snapshot. BTW data partitions regularly are Word, excel, photos and so on.

also, I realize that I could have a single example, E: data with several shared folders partition, but given that each folder is for another Department could cause more trouble when space more and more in the future. Great VMDK could take more time to develop. Not sure again.

    Thank you

    Hello

in general, virtualization does not change much on the disk IO.

You can use the same rules that you would use to size a physical server.

Multiple vmdk mean multiple targets for your I/o load.

Best solution if IO load/troughput high or low response time should be reached, you create multiple VMDK and spread over several data stores.
