Best practices sessionScope setting Variable

Using JDeveloper 11.1.1.4.0

Where and how can I configure the sessionScope variable in the following situation? I developed a search criteria named on the view of the emp table object to search for EMPNO. Then I dragged the "SearchByEmpno" called criteria on my page and selected "and Table query" among the choices. When a user enters an EMPNO to search by, I want has this value of the sessionScope variable so that it can be used in the other routines in the session. Someone suggested that I put the value in the IMPL of the view object, but that violates the separation of the controller model and view. Is the appropriate place on the page of the application object or the output table or elsewhere and how not to disturb the normal functions of the query or table - if possible?

Thank you

Troy

You can intercept the query using querylistener as stated in the blog post and set the value in the session scope:

    I have Tech Com Suite 2015. I need to make a FrameMaker book .chm file. I tried to do directly from chassis, but was not happy with the results, so I will try to do a RoboHelp project instead.  Can someone help me with best practices to achieve. I would like to than my files related to RoboHelp, so that I don't have to start over if they are updated. I tried to work with it. You can fix things after you import? For example, if I have does not have difficulty cross-references (and delete page for example numbers) in FrameMaker, before the import/lining, what I have to do it again?  I have worked with FrameMaker for quite a long time, but I'm less familiar with RoboHelp. Is there a video or webinar showing how to do this? Or can someone give some tips and things that I should know about this procedure. Thank you

    Hello

    1. the table of contents at the same level:

    To create levels of navigation OCD in a table of contents in the output to publish FM, we need to change either the first indent, the property size or weight are.

    We determine the level by setting these properties by Tag:

    -First indent,

    -Font Size,

    -Font

    by example, so if you want to have titre3 appear inside Title2 like this:

    Titre3

    Title2

    In Para designer > properties updated by designer of these 2 tags (Heading2TOC, Heading3TOC):

    -First indent Heading2TOC Heading3TOC more

    - Or font of Heading2TOC less Heading3TOC

    - Or the size of the police of Heading2TOC less Heading3TOC

    2. the option Enable browse sequence allows the navigation arrows. Try to activate the option "activate browse Sequence. (apply the latest Patch, help > updates)

    3. Once you create your table of contents, you will see the title of the chapter begins to appear in the breadcrumbs.

    Main effort, you'll need to do, is to create a table of contents leveled once it made should solve the issues you face.

  • Best practices for setting up projects

    Hi people.

    I'm looking for some advice on my project management and the Installer files.

    So I have a VI with outbuildings and void / VI. I then add to a project, and then create the application and setup of files when I want to deploy the program. If I discover a bug or need to make a change when it was deployed I proceed as follows: remove the project, the application and Installer. I make the required changes to the VI and then add a new project and create the application files and the program installation, and then re - install the program.

    It's a little bit of your time. Is there a way to make changes to the VI which can then automatically update the application files and the Setup.

    Thank you

    Select this option.

    What? What you are doing seems crazy to me! Don't worry though - there's a better way! Have your files/code in a project and just re - build the executable/installer once you have updated your screws... it will automatically use the last screw, when you create the executable file. You can define the specification of generation to automatically increment the version build number.

    You only need to create project/generation specifications (exe/installer) once!

    If you want to keep track of different versions of the code, use a sort of like Subversion/Git source code control, etc.

    I suggest you have a read here (and some related articles!) to learn more about the projects and build specifications in LabVIEW! http://www.NI.com/white-paper/7197/en/

  • best practices to configure or detect the size of the screen?

    Hi all

    Try to determine a best practice for setting or the detection of the size of the screen. Playbook and iOS, I can put them. But for Android, the number of devices is too big, so I would rather to detect. My first choice is to use the stage.stageWidth, stage.stageHeight. It works fine if I put my stage with standard metadata properties:

    [SWF (height ="320"width ="480"frameRate ="64", backgroundColor = "" "#010101")]

    However, if I use the application descriptor file to set the dimensions of the stage (like the one proposed by Christian Cantrell here http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flash/articles/authoring_for_multiple_screen_sizes.html()

    <initialWindow>

    <>aspectRatiolandscape< /aspectRatio>

    <>autoOrientsfalse< /autoOrients>

    <>width320< /width>

    <>height480< /> height

    <full screen>true< /> fullscreen

    < /initialWindow>

    Then the stage.stageWidth, stage.stageHeight are not the correct numbers when my main class is added to the stage. Shortly after the main class is added to the scene, these figures are very well. Is there an event that I can wait to know the stage.stageWidth, stage.stageHeight are correct?

    Thanks in advance!

    I'm struggling to think of what the problem might be with stageWidth/height not set correctly during the test with IE, but who was a flex project, I noticed a strange behavior before (width/height is not correct until the preloader ran)

    It has intrigued me, so I can grab the google project and test, but it may be some days I'm a bit busy at the mo.

    WAG - erg is nice idea btw

  • Views - set at the database level or RPD?  Advantages/disadvantages/best practices

    General question about the use of points of view and OBIEE. I have a handful of views that I had to set for one reason or another within our mini - DW. Initially, I set all these level database and imported in my physical layer as I would a table.

    I know that OBIEE has the ability of views defined within the Phyiscal layer by specifying the SQL syntax with the VIEW type.

    I'm curious to know if anyone has any ideas on the manipulation of views one way or another? :

    -Do you prefer to define the points of view within the RPD to keep your logic in one place?
    -Are there performance benefits with the definition of the view in the database itself?
    -Are there any best practices known surrounding views with OBIEE management?

    Thanks in advance.

    K

    Yes, this select statement is called view opaque. Opaque views can lead to performance problems. If your view is huge pulling data then do not create this view in the RPD.

  • Best practice? Storage of large data sets.

    I'm programming a Client to access the customer address information. The data are delivered on a MSSQL Server by a Web service.

    What is the best practice to link these data namely ListFields? String tables? Or an XML file with is analyzed?

    Any ideas?

    Thank you, hhessel

    These debates come from time to time. The big question is how normally geet she on the phone after

    someone asks why BB does not support databases. It is there no magic here - it depends on what you do with

    the data. Regarding the General considerations, see j2me on sun.com or jvm issues more generally. We are all

    should get a reference of material BB too LOL...

    If you really have a lot of data, there are libraries of zip and I often use my own patterns of "compression".

    I personally go with simple types in the store persistent and built my own b-tree indexing system

    which is also j2se virtue persistable and even testable. For strings, we'll store me repeated prefixes

    that only once even though I finally gave up their storage as only Aspire. So if I have hundreds of channels that start "http://www.pinkcat-REC".

    I don't store this time. Before you think of overload by chaining these, who gets picked up

    the indexes that you use to find the channel anyway (so of course you have to time to concatenate pieces)

    back together, but the index needs particular airspace is low).

  • Best practices using clusters to create the queue/notifier/bundles?

    I'm in a block diagram, a queue, the notifier and several instances of cluster of bundle

    that all use the same data structure.   There is a typedef of cluster for the data structure.

    Of course, each of these objects (define the queue, set notifier, bundle)

    you want to know how do you define the cluster.

    What is considered best practices?

    (1) create a dummy instance of the cluster across data structure

    definition is necessary (and hide all on the public Service)

    (2) create only one instance and son at all places, it is necessary

    But there is no stream on this thread: it's only the cluster * definition *.

    which is used, so this seems to clutter the comic.

    (3) create only one instance of the cluster control and use local variables

    everywhere else the definition of cluster is required.  It's _value_ is never

    assigned or given read-so no problem with race conditions.

    (4) another way?

    If you were to clean up someone else's code, how do you expect

    See this Treaty?

    It occurred to me during this writing that here where I

    "unbundle...... code bundle" I could wire the original beam to the

    the two "unbundle" and "bundle" - but that would be too complicated

    and the size of the comics with useless thread?

    Thank you and best regards,

    -- J.

    Hi Jeff,

    I think that this question is about "sharing" the typedef and not how share data (?)  If the cluster control is registered as a typedef (or a strict typedef) but NOT SIMPLY as a CONTROL, then when a Diagram-constant of the typedef is created, it will be updated when you update the .ctl typedef!  (and there is no FP control to hide )  Of course if the typdef is already available "close" if necessary, you will be able to use instead - save a spacer of diagram.

    See you soon.

  • Best practices for retrieving a single value from the Oracle Table

    I'm using Oracle Database 11 g Release 11.2.0.3.0.

    I would like to know the best practice to do something like that in a PL/SQL block:

    DECLARE
        v_student_id    student.student_id%TYPE;
    BEGIN
        SELECT  student_id
        INTO    v_student_id
        FROM    student
        WHERE   last_name = 'Smith'
        AND     ROWNUM = 1;
    END;

    Of course, the problem here is that when there is no success, the NO_DATA_FOUND exception is thrown, which interrupts the execution.  So, what happens if I want to continue despite the exception?

    Yes, I could create a block nested with EXCEPTION section, etc, but it seems awkward for what seems to be a very simple task.

    I've also seen this handled like this:

    DECLARE
        v_student_id    student.student_id%TYPE;
        CURSOR c_student_id IS
            SELECT  student_id
            FROM    student
            WHERE   last_name = 'Smith'
            AND     ROWNUM = 1;
    BEGIN
        OPEN c_student_id;
        FETCH c_student_id INTO v_student_id;
        IF c_student_id%NOTFOUND THEN
            DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('not found');
        ELSE
            (do stuff)
        END IF;
        CLOSE c_student_id;
    END;

    But it still seems to kill an Ant with a hammer.

    What is the best way?

    Thanks for any help you can give.

    It depends on what you want to do.

    You expect only 0 or 1 rank. SELECT INTO waiting for exactly 1 row. In this case, SELECT INTO may not be the best solution.

    What exactly do you do if you return 0 rows?

    If you want to set a variable with a NULL value and continue the treatment, Frank's response looks good, or else use the modular Billy approach.

    If you want to "do things" when you get a line and 'status quo' when you don't get a line, then you can consider a loop FOR:

    declare
      l_empno scott.emp.empno%type := 7789;
      l_ename scott.emp.ename%type;
    begin
      for rec in (
        select ename from scott.emp
        where empno = l_empno
        and rownum = 1
      ) loop
    l_ename := rec.ename;
        dbms_output.put_line('<' || l_ename || '>');
      end loop;
    end;
    /

    Note that when no line is found, there is no output at all.

  • Where to put the java code - best practices

    Hello. I work with the Jdeveloper 11.2.2. I'm trying to understand the best practices for where to put the code. After reviewing the http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E26098_01/web.1112/e16182.pdf, it seemed that request module was the preferred location (although many examples in the pdf file reside in the main methods). After some time of coding, if, I noticed that there was a certain libraries imported and wondered if this would impact performance.

    I looked at the articles published on the forum, in particular Re: programmatically access the method of service (customer interface) . This link mentions for access to the code a bean of support - and the bulk of the recommendations seem to be using the data control to drag to the Joint Strike Fighter, or use the links to access code.

    My interest lies in where to put the java code in the first place; In the view object, entity object, and... other Am, backing bean object?

    I can describe several guess better know where to put the code and the advantages and disadvantages:

    1. in the application module
    Benefits: Central location for code makes development and support easier as there are not multiple access points. Kinda like a data control centralizes the services, the module of the application can act as a conduit for the different parts of the code you have in your model objects.
    Cons: Everything in one place means that the module of the application becomes bloated. I don't know how the memory works in java - if the app module has tons of different libraries are all called when even a method of re - run a simple query is called? Memory of pigs?

    2. write the code in the objects it affects. If you write code that accesses a view object, write it to a display object. Then make it visible for the customer.
    benefits: the code is accessible through ducts less (for example, I expect that if you call the module from the application of a JSF backing bean, then the module of the application calls the view object, you have three different pieces of code-)
    CONT: the code gets spread, more difficult to locate etc.

    I would greatly appreciate your thought on the issue.

    First point here is when you say 'where to put the code of java' and you're referring to ADF BC, the point is that you put 'code of java business logic' in the ADF business components. Of course it is very good to have the Java code in the ViewController layer that covers the user interface layer. Just don't put the business logic in the user interface layer and don't put no logical user interface in the model layer. In your 2 examples you seem to consider the ADF BC layer only, so I'll assume that you're not only serious logic java code.

    Meanwhile, I'm not keen on best practices in the term that people are following best practices without thinking, usually best practices come with conditions and forget to apply. Fortunately you do not here that you have thought through the pros and cons of each (nice work).

    Anyway, back on topic and turn off my soap box, regarding where to put your code, my thoughts:

    (1) If you have only 1 or 2 methods set in the AppModuleImpl

    (2) If you have hundreds of methods, or there is that a chance #1 above will turn into #2, divide the code between the AppModuleImpl, the ViewImpl and the ViewRowImpls. Why? Because your AM will become overloaded with hundreds of methods making it unreadable. Put the code where it should logically go instead. Methods that operate on a specific line of VO Approfondissez partner ViewRowImpl, methods that work across lines in a VO enter the ViewImpl and methods that work throughout your in the associated AppModuleImpl.

    To be honest that you never the option you choose, one thing I recommend as a best practice is to be consistent and document standard so not know your other programmers.

    BTW, it is not a question about loading a lot of libraries/imports in a class, it has no performance cost. However if your methods require a lot of class variables, then yes there will be a memory of the costs.

    On a side note, if you are interested in more ideas on how to create ADF applications properly think about joining the EMG "ADF", a forum which deals with ADF architecture, best practices (cough), deployment architectures free online and more.

  • 1 hr, 2 users - best practices project

    Hello

    I was the only writer to our company for 6 years and more. I finally have someone to help me; However, this introduces a new challenge. We're going to * two * work on the same project HR, and we will use VSS to source code control. I don't know how we "share" this single HR project.

    Someone at - it of the best practices for when you work in this kind of situation?

    I have questions such as:

    • When the other person creates the Index keywords, what happens if I removed files - how will this affect the addition of keywords?
    • When the other person creates excerpts from news or new variables defined by the user, should immediately check them and let me know so that I can do a get latest and have new clips/variables in my project?
    • How do we manage the two of us working on the same project and saw that he had to extract / archive files, create new topics, etc - what should be our "workflow"?

    Thanks in advance for ANY help/advice anyone of you can provide!

    I like rule of Care author: keep things simple and robust. This topic covers the three basic methods of sharing help authoring tasks. In order of complexity:

    1. creation series. If you do not need to have the two authors of the project at the same time, you can just take turns working on the project. Just move the files back if necessary. It is the simpler and more robust approach.

    2. merger proposals. If you need simultaneous creation, then, Yes, it's an approach simpler and more robust than the source control. However, this works only if you can partition your hardware and your clearly demarcated into two or more parts work assignments. Mergers can be a great solution, but it does fit all cases.

    3. source control. If several authors need simultaneous access to the same material, then source control is the simplest answer.

    Here are a few tips and observations, based on my experience with RoboSource Control, in no particular order:

    1. source code control works best on small projects of medium size. Largest may be unstable.

    2. set up to restrict an author file extractions only. Allowing the two authors to work simultaneously on a single topic is bad.

    3. If possible, try to work in different areas of the project that are not. Remember that a single change in a subject can ripple on many related topics. (For example, if you change the name of file to a topic, all the links in this topic must be changed.) If someone else takes care of one of these topics, you will not be able to complete your initial change.

    4. backup of your projects regularly, even if they are in the source code control.

    5. create an administrator account to use just for that purpose. Do not use this account for the creation of the ordinary. All do not give administrator privileges.

    6 appoint a person as administrator. Have at least one backup administrator. It will be the people who put up user accounts, to substitute the extractions ("I need this file, and Joe's on vacation!"), resurrect the old files, adjust source control conflicts, etc..

    7 archive files as soon as you are finished with them. Don't let them verified any longer than necessary.

    8. If you have large scale projects, your virus scan utility can really degrade performance during certain operations, such as the initials "get" of the project files. If this is the case, you may be able to configure your antivirus program to be more respectful of these activities of source control.

    9. the authors of aid must remain in close communication. The other did know what you are doing, especially if you do something drastic like move folders. Be prepared to check something in the case of someone else in need.

    10 give a lot of thought to the structure of your project. Examine the structure of files, naming conventions, etc.

    11. some actions are more intensive than others source code control. (Move, delete or rename folders are biggies.) Your project is vulnerable, even if these changes are underway. If something is wrong until the process is completed, you can end up with a mess on your hands. For example, let's say there is a network problem while you move a folder, interruption of your connection with source code control. You may find yourself with HR thinking that the folder is in one place, while control of source code it is in another. The result is broken links and missing files. Time for the administrator to intervene and fix things. It is almost never a problem for small projects. It becomes a real problem for large projects.

    12. If you get near a date limit, DO NOT choose this time to reorganize and rename files and folders.

    13 follow the appropriate procedure for adding a project to source code control. Bad really do spoil you. It is easy to add a project to RoboSource Control. I can't speak for other solutions to source control.

    14. it may be necessary to rebuild your cpd file more often than with uncontrolled sources projects.

    15. I just lately that you must back up your source files?

  • Best practices for deferred loading collection once but ensuring there?

    I'm confused on best practices for managing the "setup" of the form, where I need a remote call to occur once only once for the form, but I also need to make use of this collection for a combobox that will change when different lines in the DataGrid or clicked. Easier if I just explain...

    1. You click on a row in a datagrid control to modify an object (for this example we will say it is an "employee")
    2. The form you go must have a collection of objects 'Department' charged by a remote call. This collection of departments should only occur once, since it is not common for them to change. The departments collection is used to fill a combobox in form.
    3. You need to understand what Department of the comboBox control is the property selectedIndex by iterating over the departments and find one that fits the employee.department.id

    Individually, I know how I can do all of the above, but because of the asynchronous nature of Flex, I'm having hard time setting up things. Here are a few questions...

    My first thought was just put the loading of the departments in an init() method on the employeeForm who would load as an event on the form creationComplete(). On the component page grid when the event handler by clicking a line of fire, I then calls the setup() method on my employeeForm which stands at which selectedIndex to set to the combobox control looking at the departments.

    The problem is the resultHandler for the load of the departments could not returned (so departments could not be there when "setUp" is called), but I can't put my business logic to determine the correct combobox in the departmentResultHandler because it would mean that I would always have whenever I don't want the fire of the call to the remote server object.

    I have to miss a single best practice? Suggestions welcome.

    Hi there rickcr

    It is pretty rough and you need to make a few storage upward, but take a look below.

    http://www.Adobe.com/2006/mxml"layout ="absolute">

            Import mx.controls.Alert;
    Import mx.collections.ArrayCollection;

    private var comboData:ArrayCollection;

    private void Setup (): void {}
    If {(comboData)
    Alert.Show ("data are present")
    populateForm()
    } else {}
    Alert.Show ("data not '")
    getData();
    }
    }

    private void getData (): void {}
    comboData = new ArrayCollection();
    The result of this call, the installer again
    }

    private function populateForm (): void {}
    fill out your form
    }
    ]]>

    I think this example type of watch you want.  When you first click on tab 2 there is no data.  When you click on tab 2 once again, there is. The data for your combo will be stored in comboData.  When the component gets created first the comboData is not instansiated, just romance.  This allows you to say

    If (comboData)

    This means that if the variable contains your data, you can fill out the form.  Initially it is not so now the else condition, you can call your data and return the result of your data then you can say

    comboData = new ArrayCollection(), put the data in it and remember the installation again.  This time comboData is populayed and is so it will run the method populate the form and you can decide which selected item to affect.

    If it is on a large scale you want to look into the creation of a suitable handler class to handle this, but this simple demo shows you can test to see if the data is different.

    Hope it helps and gives you some ideas.

  • Best practices Apple ID

    I help the family members and others with their Apple products. Probably the problem number one revolves around Apple ID I saw users follow these steps:

    (1) share IDs among the members of the family, but then wonder why messages/contacts/calendar entries etc are all shared.

    (2) have several Apple IDs willy-nilly associated with seemingly random devices. The Apple ID is not used for anything.

    (3) forget passwords. They always forget passwords.

    (4) is that I don't really understand. They use an e-mail from another system (gmail.com, hotmail.com, etc) as their Apple ID. Invariably, they will use a different password for their Apple ID than the one they used for other email, so that they are constantly confused about which account to connect to.

    I have looked around for an article on best practices for creating and using Apple ID, but could not find such a position. So I thought I would throw a few suggestions. If anyone knows of a list or wants to suggest changes/additions please feel free. Here are the best practices for normal circumstances, i.e. not cooperate accounts etc.

    1. every person has exactly 1 Apple ID.

    2. do not share Apple ID - share content.

    3. do not use an email address of another counts as your Apple ID.

    4. When you create a new Apple ID, don't forget to complete the secondary information to https://appleid.apple.com/account/manage. It is EXTREMELY important questions your email of relief and security.

    5. the last step is to collect the information that you entered in a document and save to your computer AND print and store it somewhere safe.

    Suggestions?

    I agree with no. 3, it is no problem with using a addressed no iCloud as the primary ID, indeed, depending on where you set up your ID, you may have no choice but to.

  • Best practices Upgrade Path - Server 3 to 5?

    Hello

    I am trying a migration and upgrade of a server in the Profile Manager. I currently run an older mac mini Server 10.9.5 and Server 3 with a vast installation of Profile Manager. I recently successfully migrated the server itself out of the old mac mini on a Xserve end 2009 of cloning the drive. Still of double controls everything, but it seems that the transition between the mini and the Xserve was successful and everything works as it should (just with improved performance).

    My main question is now that I want to get this software-wise at day and pass to the Server 5 and 10.11. I see a lot of documentation (still officially Apple) best practices for the upgrade of the Server 3 to 4 and Yosemite, but can't find much on the Server 5 and El captain, a fortiori from 3 to 5. I understand that I'll probably have to buy.app even once and that's fine... but should I be this staging with 10.9 to 10.10 and Server 4... Make sure that all is well... and the jump off 10.11 and Server 5... Or is it 'safe' (or ok) to jump 3 to 5 Server (and 10.9.5 to 10.11.x)? Obviously, the AppStore is pleased to make the jump from 10.9 to 10.11, but once again, looking for best practices here.

    I will of course ensure that all backups are up-to-date and make another clone just before any which way that take... but I was wondering if someone has made the leap from 3-5... and had things (like the Profile Manager) still work correctly on the other side?

    Thanks for any info and/or management.

    In your post I keep the Mini running Server 3, El Capitan and Server 5 install the Xserve and walk through setting up Server 5 by hand. Things that need to be 'migrated' as Open directory must be handled by exporting the mini and reimport on Xserve.

    According to my experience, OS X Server facilities that were "migrated" always seem to end up with esoteric problems that are difficult to correct, and it's easier to adopt the procedure above that to lose one day try.

    YMMV

  • Code/sequence TestStand sharing best practices?

    I am the architect for a project that uses TestStand, Switch Executive and LabVIEW code modules to control automated on a certain number of USE that we do.

    It's my first time using TestStand and I want to adopt the best practices of software allowing sharing between my other software engineers who each will be responsible to create scripts of TestStand for one of the DUT single a lot of code.  I've identified some 'functions' which will be common across all UUT like connecting two points on our switching matrix and then take a measure of tension with our EMS to check if it meets the limits.

    The gist of my question is which is the version of TestStand to a LabVIEW library for sequence calls?

    Right now what I did is to create these sequences Commons/generic settings and placed in their own sequence called "Functions.seq" common file as a pseduo library.   This "Common Functions.seq" file is never intended to be run as a script itself, rather the sequences inside are put in by another top-level sequence that is unique to one of our DUT.

    Is this a good practice or is there a better way to compartmentalize the calls of common sequence?

    It seems that you are doing it correctly.  I always remove MainSequence out there too, it will trigger an error if they try to run it with a model.  You can also access the properties of file sequence and disassociate from any model.

    I always equate a sequence on a vi and a sequence for a lvlib file.  In this case, a step is a node in the diagram and local variables are son.

    They just need to include this library of sequence files in their construction (and all of its dependencies).

    Hope this helps,

  • Best practices for the .ini file, reading

    Hello LabViewers

    I have a pretty big application that uses a lot of communication material of various devices. I created an executable file, because the software runs on multiple sites. Some settings are currently hardcoded, others I put in a file .ini, such as the focus of the camera. The thought process was that this kind of parameters may vary from one place to another and can be defined by a user in the .ini file.

    I would now like to extend the application of the possibility of using two different versions of the device hardware key (an atomic Force Microscope). I think it makes sense to do so using two versions of the .ini file. I intend to create two different .ini files and a trained user there could still adjust settings, such as the focus of the camera, if necessary. The other settings, it can not touch. I also EMI to force the user to select an .ini to start the executable file using a dialog box file, unlike now where the ini (only) file is automatically read in. If no .ini file is specified, then the application would stop. This use of the .ini file has a meaning?

    My real question now solves on how to manage playback in the sector of .ini file. My estimate is that between 20-30 settings will be stored in the .ini file, I see two possibilities, but I don't know what the best choice or if im missing a third

    (1) (current solution) I created a vi in reading where I write all the .ini values to the global variables of the project. All other read only VI the value of global variables (no other writing) ommit competitive situations

    (2) I have pass the path to the .ini file in the subVIs and read the values in the .ini file if necessary. I can open them read-only.

    What is the best practice? What is more scalable? Advantages/disadvantages?

    Thank you very much

    1. I recommend just using a configuration file.  You have just a key to say what type of device is actually used.  This will make things easier on the user, because they will not have to keep selecting the right file.

    2. I use the globals.  There is no need to constantly open, get values and close a file when it is the same everywhere.  And since it's just a moment read at first, globals are perfect for this.
