  Set the magic wand tool to have a tolerance of 0 and contiguous selected and click on the background. Is it as pure white then it should select it, if not then click some more or increase the tolerance value a little bit.

  It's probably very basic, but...  I am a printer and only really use Photoshop to change the RGB to CMYK, clear cut (with Vertus fluid mask) and things like that.  But many photos that I have to cut clear have been done already, but not (or which is given to me to use the record) with transparency always there.  Is there an easy way to transform all the white pixels with transparency?  Of course, you'd have to hide the white pixels in the image that you want to keep.  An example is attached.

  3. hide the selected area (layer > layer mask > hide selection)

  I have a lot of images captured with Snagit (computer screens). They will be printed in black and white.

  I usually do the following: open the png file in Photoshop, select Convert to grayscale Mode and save it as PSD.

  Generally, I get the results reasonably good in printed books (CMYK and n & W). [If I put the image I do usually only in Photoshop, but if the budget is tight, I do the scaling in Indesign]. I confess that I am not a very good "Photoshop" and I noticed that under Image-> adjustments there is a command to convert to B & W images.

  I played a bit with this two options and I have concluded that the files obtained with this IVª of different shades of gray are a little different.

  Can anyone advise me on the best method to use and the best way to do this kind of conversion in Photoshop. I'm on Windows using CS 5.5

  In fact, in Photoshop, black and white is really a neutralized RGB image - three channels balanced to have the appearance of a B & W photo. If you want the pixels that are either black or white, nothing else, a channel, you must convert it to Bitmap mode.

  In the same way, "printing in black-and-white ad" is not accurate - you print in black and leave everything else without ink. To get gray you would use a halftone screen of a certain value.  I imagine that if you print monochrome (any single color, including black) you want to convert in grayscale, bitmap not mode. You might, however, want to use black and white conversion first, which lets you play with the sliders and set the contrast of the different colors in the screenshot to make the image as readable as possible, then convert it to grayscale. I prefer to use an adjustment layer for these adjustments, such as B & W, that can be done this way because it is more flexible and does not change the underlying image.

  A consensus among users here who work a lot with screen capture is that you can scale to the ID and the results will be as good as scaling in Photoshop.

  I have a relatively simple installation of the PXI hardware require software in real time to perform data acquisition and to provide feedback to the user.  Somewhere on the order of discrete outputs 150, 55 entered discrete, some analog, etc...  My question is this: does anyone know of a white paper, etc., which describes the best way to the acquisition of configuration data?  For example, is it better to put all the discrete outputs on a single task and manage state in memory (150 items Boolean) before writing to DAQmx, or is there some advantage at the time of the execution/memory to open a task for each channel and individually each signal.  The driver even allow me to do this?

  Synchronization is not a concern, is pilot crashes, so I would like to get the best performance out of DAQmx.

  Photoshop is King - I don't have not upgraded to the fireworks (new version of old products of Macromedia Adobe)... but I believe it works basically the same thing - you want to compress as much as possible without significant loss of quality...

  Another note others have not cover are alternatives in jpg format. If you need a really transparent background (even on an irregular outline image), a .png works well in most browsers, but the file size is much larger. Another thing I noticed with the .jpg files, is that when compress you, that soften an image a bit - especially with text and graphics colors flat (i.e., logos and things of this nature.)

  That is, I find a .gif format is beneficial, you can choose how many colors to use in the palette so that the edges are usually crisper (especially text) - but you usually want to use the format .gif on a photo image or blurred, since it creates an effect of bands...

  One last note - if you have an image (for example) is 300 pixels high, with a graphic of the text along the side (perhaps a logo) is 100 pixels high by 400 pixels wide - rather that a very large image with a large amount of white space above and below the text, it is better to split it into two separate images - photography can be a (tight cropped) .jpg file and the text can optimize better as a .gif - and cropping closely with little white space around will be the total size of the two images much smaller and easier to download only the enlarged image of one piece...

  Hope that aid - a bit of reading on the web will also learn many tricks and tips for a "optimized" page I can't tell you how many times a page with an image took forever to download, and dig a little deeper, dioscovered the image is 300 DPI and reduced to 10% of it of original size...

  How do you call a large library, I've never had a corrupt Library, I think that your problems are not the result of the size of the library, but rather something else. From my experience it is recommended to maintain a local upward, I use Time machine, but also have a second to the top using a third-party backup solution.
