Best way to set up 6 1 TB SATA disks for ESXi performance than

Hi, the ESXi server must run a large number of different virtual machines at the same time and trying to figure out the best way to install the drives.

Should I configure RAID 10 and use to install ESXI and VMs.

A mirror then the other two for the swap file.

or

RAID configuration 10 for ESXI and VMs and then use the other two as JBOD drives and distributed the files for the exchange between these two drives?

You can probably do so because of SATA for some time provided you get the hardware RAID with a BBWC map.

If you are using a sata controller not expensive or one without the same dough RAID 10 is going to be pretty useless after about 4 VM.

I build and run on the controllers to the House and it just was not worth the power used to run the commands, even in RAID 10.

Ended up buying the battery off ebay for $150 and then it was usable...

Apple Extreme, Time Capsule and Express on the same system, what is the best way to set it up so that all devices smoothly from one end of the House to another?

I'm going to assume that you plan to have wireless devices.

Let's say that the Capsule is your "main" router  If this is the case, then it must be located in the House, so that the distance between the time Capsule is the same for the outside walls of the House.

Then, on the 'left' side of the House, looking for an airport to midway between the Capsule and time of the outer wall of the House. Do the same thing the 'right' side of the House.

In other words, each of the two airports that "extend" the wireless signal are located at equal distance from the Capsule of time... but they are in opposite ends of the House.

If you intend to interconnect all the airports and Time Capsule using a permanent, Ethernet wired... which by far is the 'best' way to put in place a network in terms of performance and reliability... then you can locate one of the devices anywhere you want.

  • Best way to set up multiple iPhones within the family?

We have 3 iPhones in our family, and we always use the same Apple ID for all three devices.  I understand there was recently some changes to ios, and this strategy may not be the best way to have things to put in place now.  I started seeing a strange behavior between phones, with calls/texts appear on the phones of other people.  Doing some research, it seems that perhaps we should all have separate Apple ID and then go the family share the road, so I was hoping someone could explain clearly how can I do to set this up.

Right now I have my ID Apple we use for purchases, and it seems that we use an old account @me.com for our iCloud account... which I suppose is what has allowed us to share calendars, see all our devices to find my iPhone, etc.  My ID Apple is not the same as the address of the iCloud account.

I work in it and myself usually as a guy... pretty strong goal, I will admit that all these Apple and iCloud IDs confuse me... so any help is appreciated.  My main goals here are:

    • Be able to see the locations of all the people of my family
    • Have no other phone calls/texts/etc
    • To share and be aware of purchasing iTunes on all devices
    • I have set up, Music Match on my Apple ID (I think...), so I don't want to lose this functionality across all devices
    • Share a family calendar that we do today (and I hope not to lose what is currently implemented)

    Thanks in advance!

Add to this... I just looked at the option icloud on my phone and it shows my address @me.com as a principal and an address of @icloud.com as a verified.  My apple account is my gmail address, and my wife and daughter use their gmail as their primary e-mail accounts.

So I was wondering if I should put in place of the apple for each of them using ID addresses gmail... then we would all have an identifier associated with our gmail addresses apple.  If this is the case, how to set up the account icloud?  I can leave it like that, or should I set up with my gmail account, as my apple ID?

  • The best way to set default styles in the libraries of widget for use by the public?

I am putting together a code to go with my blog, and it will include a custom component. I would like to than the default component to use a style that I set, but I also want the user to be able to replace it easily. Anyone have any suggestions on the best way to do it?

I see that the range slider [url http://www.jidesoft.com/blog/2011/10/04/meet-our-first-javafx-component/] of JideSoft we explicitly setting the skin in code in their example. Ideally the end-user would not do that. So, what is the best practice? Should I create a skin for my component and then set the style in my code? Should I set a basic style sheet that somehow always is imported, etc.?

Essentially, I want to have my base of work styles in the same way that caspian.css is - is possible?

I gave a talk at JavaOne on creating custom controls, perhaps the slides can be useful in answering some of your questions. I blogged about my three talking:

  • Need advice on the best way to set up a 6 nic Server

I have a server with 6 cards.  Looking for some suggestions on the best way of provision.  We use the software iscsi client.

Here's what I think to do:

0/2 NIC (one onboard and a pci): VmNet

1/3 network interface cards (one on board and a pci): vmkernel: vmotion/service console

approx 4/5 (pci): vmkernel for software iscsi

Is there a better way to do it?  It's just the way I'm used to doing.  It would be nice to maximize the number of ports used for iSCSI.

    Thank you!

    -shane

    Tough call...

If you lose the management network, HA will cause a failover.

If you lose the iSCSI, all virtual machines fail, but HA will not switch.

If you lose VM network, all communications from the virtual computer fail, but HA does not tip over.

If it was me, HA failover is a better option than full scall VM failure or net VM...

But now, you will get twelve opinions on which is better.

  • What is the best way to set up EA6400 with WRT54GP2 to network home?

We must keep the WRT54GP2 router with VOIP telephone service.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks, n

Hi nikki2819. I suggest that you configure EA6400 as a secondary router via a LAN - WAN connection with your WRT54GP2. In this way, the EA6400 router can function as a router for full commitment and can have its own network, while the other router can focus on the VOIP line.

  • best way to copy backups time machine on another disk

From an article by Apple (here), it seems that the best way to copy a TM backup (since one external hard drive to another) is drag-and - drop in the Finder. The CCC does not (and not only Mac backup Guru)-due to types of file owner by Apple. My record is about 1.6 to. The Finder is still the best method to use?  TX

Yes, in accordance with article. TBS 1.6 will take much time since you will be transferred via LAN. I suggest you use Ethernet. The 2011 model is expected to support Firewire. If the other computer also supports Firewire, then use it. If she supports Thunderbolt, then get the adapter from Apple. It will probably take more than 2.5 days.

  • What is the best way to set a built-in webcam?

My phone fell recently on his side of the counter for hardwood floor. My laptop (HP Pavilion g6) survived the fall and has seemed to suffer only a minor chip on the upper left. Everything seemed to remain as it was before the fall. The next time I tried to use my webcam, however, seems to be zoomed in its entirety and not in the update. When I place my thumb on the camera, it changes the lighting for a second before returning to its original state blurred. I think that the webcam is still working but perhaps has been jumped or moved? What is the best move for me to have this problem?  I lack the idea of buying an external webcam.

    Hi krissy2314,

As mentioned by Hula_Baloo in the previous post, you need to contact the manufacturer of the computer for help because it is an built-in webcam.

  • Best way to set up a host of ESXi 4 with only 3 network cards?

Set us up an ESXi 4 Host with 3 cards.  It is a stand-alone server that will not connect to the SAN FC network.  However, we respect the vStorage VM function if necessary.

With only 3 cards on hand, there's any suggestion on the speed and the consolidation of NETWORK cards that we set up?  Our network administrator wants to give us only 1 x 1 Gbps Connection + 2 x 100 Mbit/s.

    Your suggestion is requested

    Thank you

    Post edited by: TonyJK

Since you do not connect to FC SAN I guess you have local storage or storage over IP.

In this case it is recommended to dedicated 1Gbit link for IP storage. If you can not have dedicated you will share Gbit link between the storage on IP and VMs.

100 MBit NIC cand be used only:

    (1) dedicated storage VMotion or IP management interface

    (2) relief links networks of VM and management failover

You definitely need at least 2 running on Gbit network cards

  • Best way to set the default values for the form elements

    Hello

I have a form with a lot of defaults that is mentioned below...
      Field                      value
      created by             :APPL_USER
      creation_date         SYSDATE
      last_updated_by     :APPL_USER
      last_update_date    SYSDATE
      item1                     value1
      item2                     value2
I am currently using calculation-> after presents... then when we create/update a record... these computaion takes place and the default value for the inserted values get... THIS WORKS PERFECTLY WELL.

I want to know... If this approach is fine OR we can have a better approach to achieve...?

    Thank you
    Deepak

    Hello

I think it's good if it fits your need.

But why you have these fields in the form?
    created by: APPL_USER
    CREATION_DATE SYSDATE
    last_updated_by: APPL_USER
    last_update_date SYSDATE

The user can enter the ones?
I thought that those who are to audit and I would fill those drop with trigger in the database.
So that you get the same "correct" values if you need to manipulate the data with example of sql client

  • Best way to set up a REPO?

We have therefore almost 7 TB of disk space (local) for AppAssure.

I'm not sure if I should create a repo to 7 full (less 500 GB use restorations or sys)

    OR

    Two 3.5 to rest.

Is there a recommended configuration or does anyone have advice?

    Thank you

    Hello Stephen,

Yes, you must create a repository on each DL 4000.  As you say, deduplication will be better, but you will also be optimizing the matrix disk I/O.  In the case of a repository, AppAssure will be much on reading and writing in a repository and generating the drive array not in random read/write.  If you have two repositories, you'll be dividing the Bay load of two repositories on the same I/O to disk and producing essentially random read/write i/o, which reduces the performance of the disk.

I highly recommend to never put more than one repository on a disk array.  That is why the DL 4000 Configuration Wizard recommends using any storage space for storage.
