BetaCam SP and Firewire

If I take an apron in BetaCam SP and plug in an external enclosure Conopus and take firewire from there, my computer is a loss of quality?  I think so, but I don't really know the details...  If I do this what type of sequence settings the way I use to work with?  It would be just NTSC DV?

Thank you

Phil

Technically, Yes, there will be loss of quality because you're going from a 'uncompressed' analog source a 25mbps, 5:1 compressed digital video streams intra-image. This can be minimized as much as possible by using the component on the bridge of Beta - although I'm not sure what Canopus box, you are editing, so you won't have this ability. The ADVC-100/300 have component, so you are limited to composite (ick) or S-video (a little less ick). Combine these factors and technically you will be incurring a loss of quality. In practice, though - it's for you to decide.

I capture bands SP with a map of Blackmagic DeckLink SP designs, using components. However, I use DV codec that I capture with-in my case, I am satisfied with the quality. When I'm ready to this project, I'm going to go to no compressed, but for most of what I do, DV is sufficient. The shooting game for this project uses a time-top-of-the-line Betacam camcorder, with on a piece of $24,000 of glass at the front. Even capture DV, it is better the pants out of what I've seen most of the camcorders DV - and I don't speak great full DV camcorders as DSR-570. It's amazing what makes a good glass of difference. It's just another thing to consider.

EDIT: Oh, Yes... If you capture this way, simply use a standard NTSC DV preset. The files that you find are no different from those who come from a miniDV camera.

  • Restoration of Ethernet and Firewire

On his return from holiday, I restarted my iMac G5 to find as well (my ADSL modem) connections, Ethernet and Firewire (for my laptop) missing.

The message of the network status preferences window is "Firewire/Ethernet cable is not plugged. Not true!   Connection Wi - fi to the modem and the computer laptop is still OK.

In addition, the iMac can't be put to sleep from the Apple menu or the keyboard (cmd-opt-ejection) or the Start button.  You must close it.

I reinstalled the OS from my CD "MacOSXUpdCombo10.4.11PPC" but the problem persists, and it has other side effects (logging on and in, difficulties of printing etc..).

The ADSL modem is OK because the laptop still has its Ethernet and Wi - fi Internet access.  And the modem can see the Ethernet connection to the iMac, but not vice versa.

    Where from here?

Can I drive in the wrong direction here, but have you checked the PRAM Battery? I don't know if LANDAU has nothing to do with the problems that you encounter, but if the computer was turned off and unplugged the principal while you were on vacation the LANDAU could be corrupted.

My question is - is this possible with the 6100 series? the card will act as a separate high-speed 2.0 USB while others (oem) remain at 1.1.
If it's ok does anyone know name and type to use pc card?
    I am running windows xp.

    Hello

However, I know that it of possible to use 2 x PCMCIA Type II cards and 1 x of Type III PCMCIA card. In addition, the PCMCIA port supports 16 and 32 bit cards.
You can use USB 2.0 + FireWire 1394 Combo PCMCIA Card like this:

  • Question about the vista and firewire

Hello all, I am an editor with a camcorder Panasonic GS-120. I used to have a desktop computer running Windows 7 that I used to import my videos with. The way I used to do is simply plug my camera into the firewire port and wait for the capture/import to Windows Movie Maker window to appear. Now, I can use is more than desktop because the fried CPU. So I have to use my laptop which runs Windows Vista. My laptop also has a firewire port, but a 4 port pins and I had to buy a new cable. My cable came today, I plugged it all as I would with my office, and nothing came. I tried to go into Windows Movie Maker, then click Import, but it said that my camcorder is not recognizable or something along this line. So now I have no way to import my videos. I'm pretty sure that of not the cable because it's new I went into Device Manager and uninstalled then reinstalled the driver for the firewire port, so this isn't a problem with the port, and I'm sure that's not the problem with the port on the camcorder. So my question is, what happens? Why can't I import my videos as with Windows 7? Is it possible for me to import videos? In addition, I don't have a VCR or an S-video cable, so that the method is out of the question. Thank you all very much.

  • Bluetooth and Firewire

Since then do a clean install of Windows 7 on the W520; There was some strange problems with drivers Lenovo.

First of all, the FireWire controller simply does not appear.  Make a tweak on the Device Manager indicates that the computer knows that the device is there, he saw at some point, but that the device is "not connected" (code 45).

It seem not to be any drivers for the device itself in the matrix of pilot.

Is there really a problem, or is it just by design?  Does the controller do not show to the unless you have a connected device (I don't have one to test with) as does the SD reader?

EDIT: The camera seems to just stand by itself.  Don't know if it will be persistent resets, however.

Second, there seems to be a conflict between the Intel and Lenovo (Broadcom) drivers for the Bluetooth software control.

Installing drivers Lenovo gives first Bluetooth work (he has in the past).  But, after installing the drivers Intel (for the wireless card, an Ultimate-N 6300), it no longer works.

If I try to install Bluetooth drivers after I installed the wireless card, the machine claims that there is no Bluetooth device present.

It seems that (in the installation of Intel), I can't deselect some option that seems to bypass what Lenovo drivers are supposed to accomplish, and which negates all attempts to launch the BT radio (the application of the status bar does not start).

    Any ideas?

To enable Bluetooth after installing driver intel press Fn + F5 and turn on bluetooth power.

  • USB & Firewire audio interface ports still work as input and output?

I guess everyone has to start somewhere, even if it is borne by almost everyone I would like to know the answer to my questions, perhaps with good reason, what I don't know is so if the USB ports unique connection and firewire on an audio interface function ALWAYS both as input AND output.  In other words, whenever I read the information about the product on audio interfaces, no matter where I go, it is generally accepted that most people buy their audio interface for RECORDING.  And so when most people talk about connecting their Apple computer, iMac or MacBook Pro, it is generally accepted, they turn to the USB as INPUT.  That's all very well and good.  But in my case, I want to use the USB port as output (not the taken mini) and go into an audio interface that gives me as a symmetric output signal that I can plug my amplified studio monitor (which has only a balanced XLR input). All of the examples I see with audio interfaces address registration and involve the use of the USB on the audio input interface.

So my question is: can one USB port I see on any number of audio interfaces always function both of the inputs and outputs? It takes, but if so, why does any site mention this fact and whey didn't they show in all the diagrams of the audio interface manual hook to studio monitors?  I know what may be obvious to some, but as a user with the intention not to use a piano for a scene while but rather a keyboard/MIDI controller that is attached to the iMac to be able to use the virtual instrument software, I need to go to the controller to the iMac, then the iMac in symmetrical powered monitors. Do the balanced inputs of speakers requires more than a simple adapter to give the President a balanced input.  But nobody talks about audio interfaces usually unless they talk about as a way into the computer to record.  As for my situation? Why don't they include this example?  And why should they assume that novice will automatically KNOW that the usb port, an audio interface will work as an output as if they never EVER mention this example or Setup?  I guess it is to operate in both directions!  But really, I'm crazy to wonder when no one never speaks or shows this configuration? He suggested I buy something similar to a UR22MkII of Steinberg, who has a USB port. Even the Steinberg site speaks only records and so using the USB key as input for use with the recording software. There is no mention of its use out the mac in balanced speaker entries, even in the manual. In fact, it is question is always true for every audio interface manual that I watched, even by other manufacturers! Why they all assume a novice like me (whose money is just as good as money from the experienced user) KNOW that? It's frustrating!

I know that this is not strictly a matter of logic, but I guess, in my view correctly, that a logic user community could be more appropriate to address my question for others communities. If I'm wrong, please help to re-send-the matter.  Thank you.

Sound the interface itself that determines it can send and receive Audio or Midi... not the USB or FW port which both are devices of e/s...

All USB and Midi peripheral FW are inputs and outputs

All the USB and Audio FW are inputs and outputs...

All devices USB or external hardware with a USB port... can handle Midi and Audio...  Some do... Most manipulate just Midi... or just Audio

The Steinberg UR22MkII manages Audio and Midi...

However, I do not recommend USB 2.0 audio devices... There are simply too many cases, problems and questions after the major updates for OS X with such devices especially when they are class compliant (IE without driver), even if the UR22MkII Steinberg is supposed to be compatible 10.11...

View the other may vary... because it's just a personal opinion based on my past experiences both in my studio... and based on the many issues presented here and elsewhere.

I'm sticking with Motu equipment for all my Audio devices... and I use iConnect devices for my Midi needs...

  • SL500, Windows 7: Problems with the interface audio external Firewire and Digitus USB KVM switch

    Hello

I have an audio interface, Presonus Firestudio Project, which connects via Firewire to my Lenovo SL500. On the Sl500 is Windows 7 x 86 installed. I have also 2 rudders (Akai APC20 and M-Audio UC33e), 1 Midi Interface and a kvm switch connected via USB.

Almost everytime I make music with Cubase or Ableton Live I get holes in my audio stream. Audio playback stops just freezes for 1-10 seconds and the surface of my DAW. This becomes especially annoying when I record.

Recently, I have disabled all devices in the BIOS except for Firewire and USB, but I am always running into the same problem. Then I got a look at the system information for Windows 7 and the saw - problems/sharing section - USB and Firewire to share the same IRQ. I'm almost certain that this is the problem causing the audio gaps.

Is there a way to chanmge in Lenovo Sl500 BIOS IRQ settings?

    Best regards

    belochim

After Plug and install a USB audio interface that I borrowed from a friend, I noticed that whenever I changed my KVM switch to the surface of the other PC Ableton froze for a second. The audio stream on the other hand kept and just as it was supposed to.

The KVM switch is a "Digitus Pocket 2-port USB KVM switch" model No. "DS-11402-1".» This KVM switch seem to be a kind of diffusion in the USB bus which then interrupts the audio stream running on Firewire.

I have not found information on firewire.

The documentation talking about video editing.
How to connect a camera with firewire?

    No connector, no card expresscard...

    Hello

You can also use an adapter USB to Firewire which allows you to connect device firewire to USB port of the laptop.
USB 2.0 is 480 Mbps interface and FireWire is 400 Mbps but interface so, theoretically, USB 2.0 should be faster, but that's not true. Firewire is faster according to some tests. However, there aren't big differences, so I think that the use of this card must function.
There are various one USB to Firewire adapter on the market. Simple Google.

  • Satellite M70 (PSM71E) Firewire / IEEE 1394 Device number

I recently bought an Iomega eGo 250 GB Portable Hard Drive with USB 2.0 connections and Firewire 400.

The Firewire port on the drive's type 6 pins. My Satellite M70 notebook computer has a Firewire 4 socket pins on the left side. I have an external power supply for the reader of the eGo. When I connect it to my laptop using a cable Firewire 4 pin 6 pin is not recognized. Nothing happens at all. I tried to disable the IEEE 1394 network adapter and reboot of Windows XP Home Edition with no luck. This drive connects and works very well using the USB cable, but I prefer using Firewire. The reader connects and works very well using the Firewire cable 6-pin 6-pin on my PC at home.

Is there something I need to do to make the drive work using the Firewire port? I have no other Firewire devices to test the port with.

    Any help would be appreciated!

Maybe the cable is defective? Is it the cable supplied with the HARD drive or did you buy it separately?

You can buy more 6-pin to 4-pin adapter online. Google "firewire 6-pin to 4-pin adapter.
