Bios AHCI 3.28?

Computer: HP Pavilion d4181.se with revision of BIOS 3.28 23/01/06

Where can I view/edit if the SATA controller is configured to AHCI? I can't find anything in the BIOS Setup.

Thank you

Hello:

Mother/chipset of your PC card BIOS is doesn't have the capability of the AHCI.

There is therefore no AHCI setting for it.

You do not normally as parameter on Intel based desktops, unless they have the Intel 965 chipset or newer (with the exception of the chipset G31/33 who had RAID and IDE settings only).

You can try one thing, install a vanilla windows 8.1 downloaded from Microsoft, install with AHCI and UEFI BIOS, check to see if it boots.

If this is not the case, if your system must be set to RAID and you have nothing else to try.

    Hi Peter,.

The problem I encounter is due to AHCI HARD drive setting and only after WOL.

If you do not use AHCI 3, 4 & 5 will be AHCI / IDE HDD SATA not.

You can change the BIOS setting followed steps below:
    1. power on the system and press 'F1' enter the BIOS utility.
    2. go to the "Device" option, make sure that "Enable the SATA AHCI" change to "disable"(if you don't use AHCI, pls ignore this step).
    3. go to the "Start" option, select "Boot Sequence"
and ensure that the IDE HDD: is not in the section 'Excluded from the boot order' to [Primary] start sequence screen.
    4. press "2" to enter "start sequence screen [automatic],
and ensure that the IDE HDD: is not in the section 'Excluded from the boot order' to [Auto] sequence start screen.
    5. press "3" to enter "start screen for sequence [error],
and make sure that the IDE HDD: is not in the section 'Excluded from the boot order' on-screen of start sequence [error].
    6. press "F10" to save and exit the setting.

Make sure that the HARD drive is not in the list of the excluded for all 3 optios. Primary, automatice & error.

  • How can I check if the AHCI is enabled on my Pavilion dv7 1199ed?

    Hi all

I recently bought a new SSD (Samsung 830 128 GB) to replace one of the two HARD drives containing faulty sectors. To use the TRIM, I need the SATA controller that AHCI enabled. How I check that? BIOS is unfortunately limited.

If AHCI is not enabled, how can I activate it?

Some data: Pavilion dv7 1199ed (I have no product number, because I'm sending you this issue of my work (don't tell my boss), my laptop is at home), using triple boot Vista, Ubuntu 12.04 (both on the HARD drive) and Debian Wheezy (freshly installed on the SSD).

    Thank you!

  • L70 - A problem SSD - no boot device satellite upgrade

    Hi all

I decided to get any help here, after almost a week of fighting with the upgrade of my Satellite L70-A-118 with a SSD internal SiliconPower. Drive HARD conventional is installed, everything is perfect and computer starts every time. But when I connect SSD it is very reliable, which gives the "no boot device - please reboot ' message from time to time, or several times in a row. This kind of behavior is OS independent (I tried windows 7 and several Linux distributions) and after searching the Internet, I am convinced that it is the problem of BIOS. Initially, the version of the BIOS was 1.00, and I read that the upgrade to 1.20 should solve the problem. So I did, and nothing happens, I want to say that the DSS kept as unpredictable as before the start. Taking things methodically, then I upgraded for all available versions of BIOS (1.30 and 1.50 and 1.60) and Yes, since 1.50 the ssd boots correctly in 8 cases of 10, so it's an improvement, but still far from perfect.

The problem with SSDrives of many manufacturers and Satellite L50 L70 is common and have been reported (see https://forum.toshiba.eu/showthread...formance-issue ). Unfortunately, none of the solutions I found on the internet works for me. No matter what system I am running and what settings are enabled in the BIOS (AHCI/compatibility; Boot from the UEFI/CMS; Performance/Battery). It seems that the ssd drive sometimes is not recognized by the BIOS on power on or restart it, but I can't understand what is the reason for this: after «no device startup...» ', it is sometimes sufficient to press ctl-alt-del to warm restart it and it goes as it should, but sometimes you can press the dozen times and the same message. Cold start is usually better, but not always. And I have no problem with the start-up of this particular drive on other machines.

Help or the direction where pick up because it would be very appreciated. No matter what expirience with the L70 upgrade with ssd also. Thank you for your attention and your time.
    Peter.

PS. honestly, the screen "toshiba leading innovation" is the most annoying more trying to fix my problem.

Is there a boot option secure in the BIOS? If so turn it off, you can also watch the boot sequence and make sure the SSD drive starts first. Other than that, it could be something to do with the HARD drive itself. This could be a thing of tension, either caused by the SSD to ask for more than what the motherboard can provide for her or the CMOS battery itself goes flat. It is difficult to say what exactly cause your problem because it is incompatible, but to check if your card mother try running the laptop with a low battery and see how it compares to a battery full, try it plugged and plugged not able to check the behavior of the splash screen. To check if this is the CMOS battery, you can open your machine and extract it and warm a bit with your hands before you put it back in the machine and put in operation again. This will add about 0.3 volts again in the stack that can start the system again normally. If it works, then you need to replace the CMOS battery because it is at the end of his life.

  • Installing XP on Satellite P300 - 18 M - BSOD

    Hi guys,.

problematic BSOD during XP installation (you want to rid the Vista laptop of course).

BSOD 0x7B / 0034, making allusion to the missing SATA drivers I guess?

OK, so the fact that follows: dl the pack of ATI XP drivers for this laptop, found the SATA drivers in there (the Lord alone knows why these are not offered for download separate drivers, they are after all the drivers and have little to with the Ati drivers card display; made me spend an hour too on this alread!)

Slipstreamed drivers SATA in XP SP 2, using Nlite installation CD.

So far so good. But the BSOD still appears. What the world did wrong?
XP maybe really don't like the hidden partition bootmanager at the beginning of the HD?
Not really want to Fdisk everything now and discover what he still BSOD on me.

    Any suggestions?

    see you soon,
    Henk-Jan

    Hello

As far as I know, you cannot switch the BIOS AHCI to SATA after installing XP without SATA support. If you set back the SATA BIOS settings then you would get a BSOD.

Satellite P300 - 18 M supports the Chipset Mobile Intel PM45 Express and this is why you need the Intel SATA drivers. You will find the Intel Storage Manager SATA drivers! Can also be downloaded from the Intel page!

    Hello

I am trying to install Windows XP Professional SP3 and Linux Ubuntu 10.10, but these systems do not recognize my laptop HARD drive or same installation process suddenly crashes before that. The only information that I could find sources online, it's that many people have absolutely the same problem as I do, without any possible solution for her.

For example, I feel something like that while the process of installation of Ubuntu Linux:
    https://lists.Ubuntu.com/archives/kernel-bugs/2010-September/144973.html

The BIOS update does not resolve the problem at all.

What should I do? I would use the other OS, and not only Windows 7, but Windows XP, Ubuntu Linux, because the OS 2. Some sources describe that SATA drivers must be added manually to the image of the operating system, but I don't want to use all of the methods that are not supposed to be used by default.

    > I am trying to install Windows XP Professional SP3 and Linux Ubuntu 10.10, but these systems do not recognize my laptop HARD drive or same installation process suddenly crashes before that.

The point is this laptop support SATA HDD.
You must install the SATA driver before trying to install Win XP or you must set the option in the BIOS: AHCI SATA mode compatible.

Using compatibility mode no SATA driver is needed.

    Check it!

  • e9260f: recovery disks don't recover the system with the new hard drive

    Hello

I am installing a new hard drive in my desktop e9260f using the recovery discs, that I copied when I bought in 2009.

-using size hard drive 1 TB

-It will accept all 3 recovery CD then said full restoration and will ask you to restart continue.

-for the re-start, it says 'update registry settings' then "the Installer starts services" then "installing devices" to 100%, then immediately error and said... 'installation of windows could not configure windows to run on this hardware of computers', then click 'ok', then the following error starting says "windows cannot complete the installation.  To install windows on this computer, run the Setup again. »

    What I tried then...

    -Start Windows repair... no luck

-J' have changed the SATA contoller in the BIOS, DCIS of RAID and re-tried the recovery process of 3 disc set with the same negative results.

"- I also know the cyberlink disk recovery utility sp44645.exe in the section downloads hp... which States.

As you suspected him of Microsoft Support this error give AF and Windows 7 without SP1 discs.

One of the workarounds, you already tried changing BIOS AHCI RAID. In your case, it did not help.

When doing a clean install with a retail disk would give you the ability to load drivers before installing the OS. Using this method, you would be able to install the Intel RST drivers, but you will not have this option when using self created the recovery disc.

You can't convert a drive AF [4K sectors] on a non - AF [512bytes sectors] drive.

Maybe to order HP recovery disks will solve the problem.

Or worse, you would have to buy a Windows 7 SP1 retail disk.

  • Problem Win7 HPE-150ff recovery with recovery disks

Hi - I have a desktop HP HPE-150ff under Windows & Home Premium computer which had the HARD drive go bad.  Original is a 1 to Seagate - I bought a 2 TB Seagate ST2000101, 6 Gb/s, 7200 RPM HARD drive to replace it.  I removed the old drive and connected the new drive and started the recovery using recovery disks that I made when the PC was new.  Like others here, things seemed to be going well until he completed the download and tried to restart.  Next, I get the dreaded "Windows Setup could not configure Windows to run on this computer hardware.

After doing some checking, I have changed the setting to the Bios SATA to AHCI and also tried IDE.  just returned to the same installation point and is suspended.

I saw the reference to download updated Intel drivers, but I don't see a place in recovery to install.

What is the latest thinking on the best way to get this to recover?  I was thinking of doing a new 1 TB drive, but what I've read, the 2 TB should work correctly.

Any help is appreciated.  Thank you!

    Hello:

BIOS AHCI and just for fun, let's see if you make your own regular install of W7 disc works.

Use the product key on the PC to enter and do not activate.  Just to see if you do not get this error.

Here's what you need to do.

If you can read the Microsoft windows 7 25-character product key, you can download simple Windows 7 ISO files to burn on a DVD for the version of windows that is installed on your PC, and which is listed on the Microsoft COA sticker on your PC case.

Burn the ISO with the option to burn the ISO on your DVD burning program and burn it at the slowest possible speed that will allow your program. This will create a bootable DVD.

Or use the installation of Windows 7 USB/DVD tool to compile the ISO file that you download from Digital River. The link below. You need a 4 GB flash drive to use the USB compilation method.

    http://download.CNET.com/Windows-7-USB-DVD-download-tool/3000-18513_4-10972600.html

Use 25 characters on the PC product key to activate the installation.

The key will activate a 32 or 64 bit installation.

Then go to the support of the PC and driver page to install the drivers you need.

Link to downloads ISO of W7 is below.

    http://forums.mydigitallife.info/threads/14709-Windows-7-Digital-River-direct-links-multiple-languag...

If it works, I live just with that because I have no idea why do not have the recovery disks.

You have only the mouse, the keyboard and the monitor connected to the PC during the recovery, correct?

You are right, because a 2 TB HDD in your relatively modern PC should work very probably.

  • Acer Predator 17 SSD G9-792-75ZT error

Hi everyone I recently bought an acer predator 17 in one of the local stores from the Philippines last October 5, 2016. Overall, the quality is excellent and it works what is said. I have some of my favorite and need games apps installed in the computer, but after that, the system keeps on crashing. I tried to restore from the previous version until it becomes completely unaccesible.

I tried to run the reset in the system recovery but the samsung mzvpv256hdgl-00000 256 gb SSD was locked. I tried to remove the volume completely and reinstall the partition. He worked a few times, but it's really unacessible even after that. I tried to copy some files, reinstall windows, but it says incorrect function. I can't open the disc itself, because of the warranty.

I also noticed that after anything in the ssd, it will disappear causing my laptop to slow down. the news of controller and lun was also is not found even in the "diskpart" command What do you think is the cause and the solution to this?

    Symptoms:

    1. the material can be recognized in the bios (inconsistent).

2 do you have a reformat using the administrative tools

3 reset the bios AHCI, RAID and LEGACY UEFI

    4. the path of the controller is not located (value 0)

    5. currently installed windows hard disk

    6. After reformatting or copy a file, the hard drive no longer not recognized except restart.

    7. I just installed vlc, DBMS, sibelius, steam and dota 2 once it crashed.

    8. currently, SSD is completely reformatted but still can not 'normally' access'

9 used dedicated nvme samsung for SM951 driver, but still the same thing

I currently work as sailor so coming back to the manufacturer is not easy. Is it possible that they can change the right ssd if the found it defective? I mean in this day there also because given the nature of my work. We do not stay in a country long.

Thanks for all those who who' the response. Good day.

    This is a strange behavior.

I suggest that you contact Acer Center support in your area from your laptop of predator is under warranty as you said that you just bought. You must contact them to find out how long it would take to repair or where bring or send the laptop.

    Hello

I have 3 computers with XP, Vista and Win7.

I wonder if computers laptops XP and Vista (sata) will be able to get the most out of the SSD HDD?
The sine qua non of not losing a lot of performance, is that the bios ahci mode available for hard disk?
    Is there something else?
Some older computers, laptops and desktops may not use a SSD HDD?

I have an external SATA enclosure for a disk hard 2.5 "regular who was not particularly to adapt to an SSD HDD. It fit? I'm wanting to copy the contents of all of the hard drive to the hard drives(xp,vista,win7) on the new discs, including the hidden partition which has the OS on it with something like Norton ghost or acronis true image software. Are there suggestions which we use, and which cable (what is a sata to usb cable?) do I need for the migration if I use a laptop computer to copy these disks?

Does anyone have any suggestions of what SSD to use? I'm looking for a 120gig SATA 3 with faster speeds.

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

3 SSD have more fast read and write times when they are installed in PCs that use the latest SATA 3 interface. You may be able to search online by using your favorite search engine to know the different manufacturers.

SATA cables would be also faster to transfer the data.

Its probably something to deal with the UEFI.  There in BIOS, any possibility to use both UEFI and 'Legacy' or BIOS? Or maybe when you turn on the computer to select the USB boot option, there may be something classified heritage and you try to boot from USB.

Sorry I should have mentioned that I also tried both UEFI and legacy.

I managed to install Windows 7 Pro x 64 on the 8900 XPS.

Which, in my view, the problem is that the motherboard has only one USB3 controller.  The background has "USB 2" ports, but I think they're going to a USB 3 controller that is causing the problem.  I think that it can cause a kind of mode error limbo where WindowsPE is confusing because it is not purely a USB 2 port, because Windows 7 is not compatible USB 3 out of the box.  I tried to load the drivers USB 3 when he asked for the pilots, but it did not accept the drivers regardless of the reason.

The only way I could find to install was to use a DVD version.  The DVD is instantly working and I did not load additional drivers during installation.

I must point out that I had to burn a CD with the extracted versions of install it the driver for the USB ports to work properly when I was on Windows.  I couldn't get my mouse to work at all, and I had to navigate via the keyboard only.  Installing drivers Intel USB 3 solved the problem right away though and I don't seem to have problems after the installation of their.  I also had .net Framework 4.6.1 and Kernel - Mode Driver Framework 1.11 installed on there as well as some of the Intel drivers required them.
