L70 - A problem SSD - no boot device satellite upgrade

Hi all

I decided to get any help here, after almost a week of fighting with the upgrade of my Satellite L70-A-118 with a SSD internal SiliconPower. Drive HARD conventional is installed, everything is perfect and computer starts every time. But when I connect SSD it is very reliable, which gives the "no boot device - please reboot ' message from time to time, or several times in a row. This kind of behavior is OS independent (I tried windows 7 and several Linux distributions) and after searching the Internet, I am convinced that it is the problem of BIOS. Initially, the version of the BIOS was 1.00, and I read that the upgrade to 1.20 should solve the problem. So I did, and nothing happens, I want to say that the DSS kept as unpredictable as before the start. Taking things methodically, then I upgraded for all available versions of BIOS (1.30 and 1.50 and 1.60) and Yes, since 1.50 the ssd boots correctly in 8 cases of 10, so it's an improvement, but still far from perfect.

The problem with SSDrives of many manufacturers and Satellite L50 L70 is common and have been reported (see https://forum.toshiba.eu/showthread...formance-issue ). Unfortunately, none of the solutions I found on the internet works for me. No matter what system I am running and what settings are enabled in the BIOS (AHCI/compatibility; Boot from the UEFI/CMS; Performance/Battery). It seems that the ssd drive sometimes is not recognized by the BIOS on power on or restart it, but I can't understand what is the reason for this: after «no device startup...» ', it is sometimes sufficient to press ctl-alt-del to warm restart it and it goes as it should, but sometimes you can press the dozen times and the same message. Cold start is usually better, but not always. And I have no problem with the start-up of this particular drive on other machines.

Help or the direction where pick up because it would be very appreciated. No matter what expirience with the L70 upgrade with ssd also. Thank you for your attention and your time.
Peter.

PS. honestly, the screen "toshiba leading innovation" is the most annoying more trying to fix my problem.

Is there a boot option secure in the BIOS? If so turn it off, you can also watch the boot sequence and make sure the SSD drive starts first. Other than that, it could be something to do with the HARD drive itself. This could be a thing of tension, either caused by the SSD to ask for more than what the motherboard can provide for her or the CMOS battery itself goes flat. It is difficult to say what exactly cause your problem because it is incompatible, but to check if your card mother try running the laptop with a low battery and see how it compares to a battery full, try it plugged and plugged not able to check the behavior of the splash screen. To check if this is the CMOS battery, you can open your machine and extract it and warm a bit with your hands before you put it back in the machine and put in operation again. This will add about 0.3 volts again in the stack that can start the system again normally. If it works, then you need to replace the CMOS battery because it is at the end of his life.

First of all, thanks for any help. I don't know anything about the inner workings of computers, so things, please explain to me how you would do for a baby! Here's the problem: my Satellite C660-IHK is one month. I have not much used, nor had any problem with it. Until last night. I turned it on, the logo appeared as usual, and then it went to a screen that tells me to "Reboot and select proper boot device or Insert Boot Media in selected boot device and press a key. I have no idea what that means or what I should do now.

On another chance, I pressed 'Set Up', which was located at the bottom of the screen when the logo first appeared. I went to 'Boot '. Here is the info:

You see this message every time when you start your laptop?

    It's a little strange.
Start your laptop and press F2 to enter the BIOS settings. Use F9 and set it to check and default settings, if the problem persists or not.

If Yes, restart your laptop and press F12 to get into the boot menu. Check if the HARD drive is listed there. If Yes, select it and press ENTER. Windows starts correctly?

When I insert a bootable Windows 7 DVD, the installation process runs very slowly and never ends...

How can I fixed this problem, if you have an idea, please share it with me.

    Thank you

    Hello

Message PXE is a typical sign of a malfunction of the HARD drive.
Why? Because the laptop is trying to boot from LAN.
    Why LAN?
Because other bootable devices have not been found.

I would recommend so check the first page of the BIOS. If the HARD drive is not listed, this means that the HARD drive is faulty and should be replaced.

  • Cannot start by Satellite L850 - no boot device - please reboot

    Hi, can you help me?

I have a toshiba Satellite, win 8, and when I try to start it it shows the message 'check' media (fail) and then shows "no boot device - please restart."

How can I solve this problem?

Unfortunately for these questions there is not some sort of magic bullet. Start your laptop and press F12 to get into the boot menu. If it works check if there is the option to enter setup. Choose this move down arrow and press ENTER.

If it works, you will see the BIOS settings. On the first page (HAND), check if the HARD drive is listed and recognized correctly.
In any case, use F9 and BIOS to the default settings. After doing this use F10 to save and exit.
Check again please. If the same thing happen over and over again I fear you have professional m need help with this.

What model of laptop do you have exactly?

  • No on Satellite L505 boot device

My problem is there is no boot device, but sometimes it works and start normally.
    What should I do?

    Please help me.

Try starting your laptop several times using F12 at first upward and let us know if all bootable devices are listed whenever you do this.

When I turn on my laptop, it displays the text something very similar as following:

    "Intel UNDI, PXE - 2.1 (build 082)

I read that I should try to get into the bios, however, I can't get into the bios. I tried del, esc, f2, f12 (key by default to get into the bios for my laptop) I also tried Fn f2, f12 Fn. None works.

I have tried syndicated harddrive th and th repeat same tests as indicated above, can always not in the bios.

I have also tried to take out the battery and press the Start button for 30 seconds and replace the battery. still no luck.

I also tried to plug in my external hard drive via the port usb but stillthE same messages.

    Could someone please help?

    The F2 key is good!
You have to press F2 to turn on/off the device!

As mentioned by BobRock; Press several times on the line!

In some cases, you will need to press the INS, then F2 to access the BIOS. This is required for some units when supervisor password has been set.

By the way: PXE - E61: Media test failure, check cable message appears because the laptop has attempted to boot from LAN. This usually happens in the case where the HARD disk cannot be found. Mainly because of HARD drive hardware problem

  • Reboot and select good Boot Device problem - my PC does not start!

    Hi all

Whenever I turn on my computer I get the message "Reboot and select proper boot device or Insert Boot Media in selected boot device and press a key.

I checked the diagonistics material and these are the results:

    Test CPU-

Hard drive: failure of the connection Test - Error Code: BIOHD1

    Memory - past

I don't think that the issue is a faulty connection. My reason to believe so because I think that I had a virus on my computer (I was not able to confirm) I tried to delete the last time I was able to use the computer. Then I turned off the computer to restart, but unfortunately, that's when I got this error message.

I had this problem once before (about 3 years ago) and I was not able to solve this problem, so I just stopped using the PC. Then one day my Dad turned on the computer (a few months later) and it worked all of a sudden.

Anyone know what this problem is? How can I solve this problem?

Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you very much for your time and effort!

    Additional information:

It was originally a windows 7 PC, but I have upgraded to windows 10, which is the current operating system.

    Product: HP p6620f

I managed to start my PC again.

I have unplugged all connections and left it that way for about 24 hours. Then I plugged everything back in and all of a sudden the PC worked again. I don't know if it will last, but right now it works.

I'll write another post if something changes.

Can anyone any sense of the message above?

    Hey Buddy,

This error message means that an incorrect boot order is set and the computer tries to start between LAN port to the internal HARD disk space. It should therefore go into BIOS setup and change the boot order. Put the HARD drive as the first boot device internal.

Take a look at this article from Toshiba:
