BIOS of Windows 8 embedded product key
I just bought a new hp desktop Summit that is running a 64-bit version of windows 8, I need to change it to a 32-bit, for reasons of compatibility for a particular
program which does not work on a 64-bit... If I install a 32-bit version of a disc that I have embedded bios product key will apply for the new 32 bit OS?
Sorry, but your OEM key that came with your computer is unable to activate download the digital version or a version of Windows 8.0. Hope this helps and if you need any additional aid station and we will be happy to help you.
The above opinion is mine and mine nothing and does not necessarily reflect that of Microsoft, it's employees, or any other Member of this forum.

Product key bad for the wrong version?
Hello
Recently the computer in business inherited from a friend, very fast and very good. Regardless of the operating system no - geniue, is with Vista Business, while the thumbnail of authentication is Vista Ultimate. I took a screenshot of what it says when I put Vista Ultimate product key: (it does not appear if you are unable to use it: P)
http://S13.PostImage.org/57nfn5pqv/vistareg.jpg
He said: "the product key you entered will not work with this edition of Windows Vista. You must run the Windows Vista Setup program or enter a Windows Vista Business product key."
How would the installation of Windows Vista? My files would still be there when you need him? My drivers would still exist? No matter what to get deleted or become unusable? He would return to SP1? Any response is welcome.
You can order form of the manufacturer's recovery media.
The reason why the system as non-authentique shows currently is using a license in Volume KMS - these licenses must be re-activated at least every 6 months by connecting to the KMS user license activation server.
It will require a reformat and reinstall whatever you do, unless you can connect to the KMS - Volume media server cannot be upgraded under normal conditions.

I need to reinstall windows 7 without product key

So it seems I now need to reinstall windows 7 but I have never had a product key I need to be able to download the ISO. Is there another way to download windows 7 without product key? And is there to generate a new product key or anyway to retrieve the original?

The Windows 7 Professional product key you typed is invalid for activation?
Hi, I'm a user of Dell who recently installed Windows 8. He wouldn't let me dualboot, so I installed it on my C: drive. I then installed 7 on my D: drive (I also have an E: drive but it is for storage). Now I get the following error message 'the Windows 7 Professional product key you typed is invalid for activation' I went to the proproties system and clicked on activiate now. After that, I have 3 choices.
1 buy a new product key.
2. enter a new product key.
3. contact Microsoft to help solve this problem.
So I tried clicking on the third on. Then this help file came.

You use a Dell OEM SLP key on a hp computer. It would never work.
If your hp COST is for professional, you can change the product key to the one on your COA. If this isn't the case, you can buy professional or return to windows, your computer comes with that. -

How to tell windows to use the hardware embedded product key when it changes on Windows 8
I just did a clean install of Windows 8 on a laptop that I bought with Windows pre-installed on it. For this I used a windows key, I bought last year and that I currently use on another computer.
What I want to do is to change my product key and get Windows 8 to use the one built into the motherboard instead of the one that I had to enter during installation.Any suggestion?Thank you!The key embedded can be used only with the support of recovery of the manufacturers. You can not use with retail media.

Z240: Need Windows 7 activation product key
I am running Linux on a workstation Z240. I want to use the Windows supplied with this workstation license to run Windows 7 on a virtual machine inside my host Linux OS. I have over the content of the original hard drive. Unlike a laptop, it doesn't seem to be a sticker indicating the product key of Windows that I need for activation. I read there may be a digital product key in the BIOS, but I searched the menus without finding.
I wrote what I thought, it was the Windows product key before you erase the hard drive, but it turns out be the ID of the product instead.
Any ideas?
I'll answer my own question. It seems that with Windows 7, it can be done. Even if I take an activated Windows disk image and run it on a virtual machine, Windows 7 recognizes that the hardware has changed and that it is a non-active state.
I also tried to save the key product for the BIOS and restore it on the copy of the VM, but activation does not always work.

Z50 - 75 - Windows for Windows 10 invalid product key?
Hello
I replaced the HARD drive that came with my Lenovo Z50 - 75 with a SDS and took the opportunity to also upgrade to Windows 10.
I had read in the forum that the Windows key has been incorporated in the BIOS, so I can't needen to worry.
I wrote it down anyway, just in case, and the first two digits are 00.
Of course, when installing Windows asked me a few times for the product key, but he managed to jump. However, oe is configured everything, but my Windows is not saved.
So I went into settings to enter my (old, Windows-8) product key and it is not accepted: apparently, for 10 Windows, the product key may not start with a digit "0".
Issues related to the:
(1) is it possible to have Windows 10 get the key from the BIOS (assuming he's there)?
(2) can / should I enter in manually instead? If so, is there a way to avoid the problem I describe above?
Thank you.
Mod edit: System model added to the subject line to improve visibility / clarity
Hi product keys are different for windows 10 that is why you it
does not accept the product key, the only way is to install windows 8 after upgraded to windows 10 and after that you can do a new installation on it. It will activate it self after installation. -
Bought a HP Pavilion 500 which is installed with Windows 8. When it became available, upgraded the operating system to Windows 8.1 without problem.
I used a Software Product Key finder application to recover the product key for this machine.
Recently, when I went into Windows Update and chose the "add options to Windows 8.1", I entered the product key from the command prompt (without the dashes), and I got the message: "this key will not work." Check it out and try again, or try a different key."
The OEM product key is restricted?
Hi DuxChux,
The upgrade of Windows requires purchasing an activation key. You can't use the existing key embedded in your current installation, when you use the applet of the control panel "Add features to Windows".

EDIT: Additional information
Things to watch for.
Recently reported several cases of blocked MSDN keys packed with the media looking legitimate. I can not stress enough to save your packaging, media and reception, if you buy software such as this to appeal to the Bank, you bought it and report it to www.microsoft.com/piracy
If you bought a key, with or without DVD or packaging of EBAY, or any other person or seller and this could be a MSDN key because your key has been blocked you can check a few things yourself, if you have received your key with the physical product go to www.microsoft.com/howtotell and check your product, however some counterfeit software are thus convince you may not be able to identify it as such.
To check your PID press the key to victory and the pause at the same time, or system opened via the Control Panel, scroll to the activation section and properties related to computing PID will look something like this 12345-067-1234567-54321, the part that you are interested in is the section to three digits, if it corresponds or is included in one or two digits for the examples below You probably have a MSDN key.
065, 066, 067 for Ultimate, box 220 for Pro and the 230, 231 area of award, there are probably others, but they should be close to those that are displayed
If you have a similar PID, or your key is blocked and you want the confirmation message, a new thread with a report from the MGADIAG tool, download and run the tool, click on copy and paste it in a new post here and Darin Smith of MS can check your key for you. NEVER send your keys, the report will be sufficient.

Upgrade Vista to Windows 7, need product key
I have a computer that was originally purchased with Windows Vista on it. I am now anting upgraded to Windows 7 and have a question before doing so. I bought a disc to upgrade to 7 through my University and the disk, it says that you need a product key. When the computer was purchased, Vista is already installed and we never received a product key or disc. I read a few places when the OS is installed at the factory, they use a special key that they integrated into the BIOS of the motherboard. Will I need to somehow extract this product key or can I just proceed with the upgrade? Thank you
You would need a Windows 7 key to install the upgrade, not a Windows Vista key. The Windows 7 disc you have is useless without the key to Windows 7. It looks like you bought a copy of the education of MSDNAA and your college should have made you a key when you bought it.

How to activate Windows using my product key?
My Toshiba Satellite laptop has recently be affected which made unusable/inaccessible hard drive. The hard drive has been replaced, and the laptop is up and running again. Now I have the trial version 30 days of Windows 7 installed. I would like to get a copy of my access key to unlock the full version of Windows 7 that I paid when I bought the laptop.
There is no product key located anywhere on the laptop and it is not in the laptop computer zone he entered in any event. I have now learned that the product key is accessible directly from the hard drive, but given that the data on my hard drive are completely inaccessible is not an option. Can someone advise me please on how I can get a replacement from Toshiba product key.
I am pretty frustrated that I had not given a paper copy of the product key with the laptop.
Thank you
Unfortunately, al this doesn t work on this path. When you buy the new notebook price includes preinstalled OS and a valid license, but for the only preloaded.
With other words: you will not get a kind of own key that you can use with a preinstalled version of Windows. When you use the original operating system it will be activated. You can install it 1000 times and it will be activated any time.
So if you want to use the original installation disc from Microsoft, you must buy a valid license for this. Many people think the same thing as you but unfortunately Microsoft create the rules for the use of the licenses and how it works with the activation of the OS.
