BitLocker key mandatory

Hi I have an Asus T100TAF that was running Windows 8 without problem and I accepted the free update of Windows 10.

First of all, I got with the wireless card driver incompatibilities, but which quickly became the blue screen failure. The system has attempted to repair self on reboot and failed. Whenever it started I liquidated to reset or troubleshoot options screen. Attempts to repair would see only the unit say that he could not complete the repair, then restart and return to the options screen. Finally I bit the bullet and decided to factory default, but he asks the bitlocker recovery key. Problem is that I have never shot bitlocker so I don't have a recovery key. How can I pass this roadblock.

Hello

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

Ideally, you will need the Bitlocker identification information that you put in place when the Bitlocker application originally. Without them, and for some reason your internal hard drive no longer exists as a usable drive, and all data on it are never locked.

    Hi Saturn,

Of the question above, you forgot the key and code of bitlocker.

Thus, there is no available way to recover files USB but I would suggest you contact a Tech shop and check if they can help you retrieve files or decrypt the data on the hard drive.

According to the policy of Microsoft technical support engineers cannot help you recover the passwords of the files and Microsoft who are lost or forgotten product features. Refer to the below the password of Microsoft strategy article.

    Hello

Each of the readers would have their own method of work with BitLocker.  In my view, individual keys would be needed, and one key is not acceptable.

  • recovery of lost bitlocker keys and unable to clean install windows 7

    Hi friends,

Two days back, I used bitlocker in my windows 7. At this point, I forgot to save the Bitlocker recovery key in an external drive and saved in the internal hard drive. The next day, when I started the laptop does not start and the key demand of bitlocker recovery which I don't own. For this reason, I am unable to boot my system. Then I tried clean install the OS with my recovery of windows 7 dvd. But at that time also he asks me to disable the Bitlocker for which I'm not having the recovery key. So I'm not able to clean install the OS also. So how could I solve this problem and make my laptop works properly.

If someone knows how to fix this please tell me.

I don't use BitLocker, so I can't confirm your request. If it is correct that I would use a third party tool to repartition the disk. Here are some candidates:

    • Acronis Disk Director (cost money)
    • Boot of Ubuntu CD (http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/use-ubuntu-live-cd-to-backup-files-from-your-dead-windows-computer/) (free)
    • Connect the drive as a slave drive to some other PC.

What happens if you following this link:

This should send the recovery key for the mobile phone to the folder number.

  • BitLocker without TPM refuses to recognize the USB key at startup.

I have a Windows 7 PC, I'd need to BitLocker, but it fails to recognize the USB key at startup. I've resorted to skip verification and now enter the recovery key every time you start (this PC has a lot of data on what should be confidential), but it's not ideal.

What is curious to me, is that the computer will start perfectly fine from a USB key, or produce a message of type "non system disk or disk error", if the USB key in question is not bootable. So it is not a matter of lack compatibility USB BIOS. When Bitlocker should read, yet there is no actifvity on the USB key. It seems to just try to read the empty floppy drive then give up.

The PC is an all-in-one RM with an Intel D915GX motherboard.

I tried two different USB, 64 megabytes cheapo player drives I usually use as a Bitlocker key and a 2 GB Cruzer Blade. I mucked with some of the BIOS settings but not in a particularly organized way. And I checked the key file is saved on the disk. Everything I did, Bitlocker will not always see the USB.

    Any suggestions?

  • BitLocker me locked on Surface Pro 3; I have never set up BitLocker and key is not stored anywhere.

    Hello

    I have a Surface Pro 3, i5 256GB, bought in July 2014.

I'm the ONLY person has ever touched my 3 Surface Pro.  Nobody else EVER used.  No administrator has already set up or tampered with it at all.  It's a personal computer (no admin would be by any company or organization in a way) and I'm the only person who used it.

A week after starting, there's my 3 Surface Pro opens a blue screen that says unexpectedly "BitLocker: enter the recovery key to go again" and under the entry field says "to get that key, go to http://windows.microsoft.com/recoverykeyfaq.

Please note: I am 10 000% CERTAIN that I have NEVER set up BitLocker on my computer.  No one else has.  I am sure of it.  Nobody has slyly had access to my computer.  I am sure of that too.

But I went on that link above, connected to my account, and he told me that the BitLocker No. key has been saved to my account.  Again... no one else has no non-existent admin not a she and none 'another user' is, because I'm the only person who has used this computer.  Never.  Period.

I called several times the support (and got hung up twice after an hour during a support call, by the way) and then to the Bank from Microsoft.  All members support confirmed that the 3 Surface Pro (unlike the Surface 2) don't automatically configures NOT BitLocker unless it is initialized by the user at any given time.  I am sure that some may be... I NEVER configure BitLocker on my drive.

But, somehow, BitLocker encrypted to my reader, and there is no key.

There is no way around it.  I can't get the key when he never existed.  I don't have not "forget" or "misplace" the BitLocker key, because I never put one in place.

Hotline helpfully told me it must be a virus (please, seriously? Support always say that just to deny ANY responsibility for anything EVER?) or claims that I have configure BitLocker and forgotten (once again, please).

I'm Livid.  I've lost the value of weeks of files.  How BitLocker can be put on my drive, and the key is not available through my account?

Apparently, there is no way to get around, but I still think there must be something I can do.

Someone at - it never had a similar problem, and if anyone has found a solution?  I need desperately to recover these files.  (Yes, I back up often, but he was still about 2 weeks, and not all received perfectly saved.)

I would really appreciate if someone knows the tricks etc.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

    Hello Dave,

Thanks for posting your query on Microsoft Community forum.

Unfortunately, my answers also support the statements you receive from Web sites or other technicians. Bit locker never ever get created and implemented by its own. Application of bitlocker on any system requires several step then only it gets implemented.

BitLocker Drive encryption, help us protect all files stored on the drive Windows is installed on (operating system drive) and on data drives (for example, internal hard drives). We can use BitLocker to protect all files stored on removable data drives (such as external hard drives or USB flash drives).

If it has been implemented and you do not know the key so there is no way to get the key and you may need to perform refresh, reset or reinstall windows.

Important: Check out this article and refer to the warning section, you can copy the section warning like warning when you provide Refresh or reset in Windows 8 or 8.1 Windows

  • BitLocker: Could not complete the requested operation because of...

Two days ago Windows 10 was running on my laptop. BitLocker has been on two disks (D and E). For some reason, I have formated Win 10 and do a new install of Windows 7 Ultimate. After installation, when I unlock the drive D, it works very well. But I can't unlock the E drive. When I enter the password, the message "Could not complete the requested operation due to a catastrophic media failure or corruption of data on the disk structure."
I'm sure that the password is correct at 100%, but I do not have any file recovery. Can someone help me?

    Hi NooriSAN,

Thanks for posting your query on the Microsoft Community.

According to the description of the problem, you cannot unlock a drive locked by Bitlocker key and get error message: "Could not complete the requested operation due to a catastrophic media failure or corruption of data on the disk structure."

This could be if defective media stored on database security, or a program in the security software error has caused corruption on disk.

For reference I suggest you to return the items mentioned below.

  • BitLocker Drive Encryption

    Hello

I started the encryption on my Win7 Ultimate. that day I locked and unlocke with my password. Afetr that I reinstalled Win7Professional. but I coudnt unlock this drive. Then, I asked the question here, in this community. They said to re install ultimate again and try to remove the encryption. Then I tried now. but tell her again the same tha the password is incorrect. The bad news is that I lost my recovery for the encryption key. Please help me with this problem. I have a lot of important things in this player.

    Thank you...

We would agree with what said that Frederik Long . BitLocker is used to encrypt your files and protects your data in case your device is lost or stolen. The only way to access your files on this disc is to enter the Bitlocker key or password. If you don't remember what is it, you must accept the fact there is no other way to access it again, unless you had the key to recovery for this drive.

Sorry, BitLocker is as good as its reputation. The person who has blocked your drive didn't want anyone to read its data without the BitLocker key. I've never heard of someone it cracking.

  • What are the risks of using BitLocker drive encrytpion?

risks of the bitlocker drive encryption

I was wondering if there was no risk associated to encrypt my records?

I have data stored on DVDs fine and have all recovery key sync on several disks of cloud.

I encrypted disks with Bitlocker, and it works very well except there is a bug you have to relock your disks by using the command prompt and have no option Shell to do this.

The main risk of using Bitlocker is if you have lost the key and you could not remember or recover it, you could not access the data at all.

The right strategy is one that you have done so, which is the regular backup of data and also the bitlocker key.

  • New T430 with Toshiba THNSNF128GCSS SSD loses Win8.1 OS after one day of use!

Hi has anyone encountered the following problem:

Brand new T430 is imaged with Win 8.1 via SCCM 2012, everything works fine for a day, you can happily install apps, copy the data and reboot etc..

Then without warning after a restart or start from scratch, the laptop cannot see all of the data on the hard drive and try to perform a PXE boot.

Test installation disk in another PC (SATA cable connect directly as 2nd drive), or USB hard drive caddy and it of like it's a new disc, ask just to initialize the disk, then doing so allows you to format the drive and everything looks ok, but not data available.

BitLocker is also used as part of construction for SCCM deployment, Bitlocker ends without problem. We tried to ride one of the task force hard readers who lost no data/operating system on another PC and you see, obvious to use the Bitlocker key entry to allow access to the data but no problem.

9 portable computers T430, we received recently, all the same configuration, 4 have failed so far.

Readers spend the fine diags, we initially got the first 2 discs replaced by Lenovo and have not seen a problem since then, but its only been a few days, the last 2 who has lost all the data, we have tried to re-imaging today and both are setup with Windows 8.1 new and no error logged in the event viewer etc.

Its very strange and hope that it's not just us having this problem?

Yes, it was a defective batch of about 20 x SSD hard drives, very poor by Lenovo and Toshiba!
