Computers to the Windows 7 workgroup permissions

I have two machines (Professional) of windows 7 on the same workgroup. I need permissions to access a computer fom file 'a' and 'b' of the computer. It keeps saying that I have not permissions. I read somewhere that you must have an account on both computers. How can you add a computer user 'a' computer 'b '?

Easy. Just go to computer B and add the account NAMED EVEN being in A computer. If the accounts are protected by and then you must add the same password as well.

I deal with the other response with a pinch of salt - while the residential groups are good in theory there are many many posts here and on other forums of people where they don't work...

  • Adding network XP Pro via the Windows 7 workgroup printers

    Hello

I have a Windows 7 Pro task force put in place.  I would add a XP Pro machine on the working group.
I think I have the CPU of the XP Pro as a member of the working group.
If I want to add a network printer must stand alone for XP Pro, be shared on the task force 7 Pro?
I don't see any of my network printers stand alone on XP Pro.  I currently do not them marked as shared in Windows 7, as they then appear with multiple variations of their name on the network.
    Thank you
    AS

If by a "network printer stand alone ', you hear a printer connected directly to your network or cable or wireless Ethernet is not uncommon that he would not find while browsing the network.  AND the pilot didn't need (and in general should not) be shared through another computer.   Possible but causes a slower printing and less reliable work is been put on hold through this machine and not sent directly to the printer.
You need to install the XP driver on the XP machine.  Most of the OEM installation programs will search the network printer at that time here.   I generally prefer to use a static address for Ethernet printers that can be seized if necessary and tends to be more reliable.

  • Installation of construction LabVIEW application disables the Windows Device Manager? Help on how to diagnose the problem?

Please can anyone shed light on this, or suggest where to look?

I built an application using the Application Builder of LV2014 (32 bit).

On a Win7 X 64 PC at work, it installs and runs ok.

On Win7 X 64 PC at the customer, it installs ok, but then after Windows restarts on demand 'device manager' no longer works and there are some unchangeable registry entries associated with nipalu. The client runs Symantec security software. A client COMPUTER technician is suggesting that LabVIEW is interacting with device drivers and this is the origin of the problem, but we do not know how to go further. It is not really acceptable to deploy computers where the Windows Device Manager no longer works. Surprisingly, the application itself works always - it's just Windows which messed up.

    Thank you

Thanks for the suggestions. The company IT guy has not been able to talk to a person in NI UK support (no one was available), but he managed to keep it down to a problem with Dell Data Protection encryption Enterprise Edition. Delete first, then install the LabVIEW application, then reinsert DDPE gave a system where everything worked.

We just installed a new Netgear Prosafe 16 port switch.  We use a wired Linksys router.

With 10 computers on the network, XP can't see XP or 7.  And sees only 7 other 7 computers.

We are able to ping to all computers.  All computers have access to the Internet.

  • Windows sharing does not host and guests, but between physical and host computers and the guests.

    Hi, I have a bit of a

a bizarre with windows shared folders network, I am about to format and rebuild the host, but I figure why not ask you chaps, cos I would lov to see why it does not work.

So I have a 64-bit Windows XP workstation host 7 but I also uninstalled and tried vm player 3.

My many comments from winxp ops, vista32 and even a win7 can do all of the windows network shares but cannot share with the host country, they see the host in the "mshome" workgroup and can even ping, but when I try to connect to share on the host I get "host is not reachable. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have permissions.  The specified network name is no longer available. »

My laptop (win7) and two other physical computers desktop (Windows XP & vista home) can see the host and can use the shared windows resources.

The host can see the guest in the working group operating systems and I can ping, but once again impossible to use actions.

I connect to the host, all comments and physical workstations with the same user name and password

All guests are running in bridge. All firewalls and virus progs are disabled.

    If quick recap

    • You can take and provide each other actions and physical work stations, but not the host

    • The host can take and give shares with physical computers, but not guests

    • Physical computers can give and take action with guests and the host.

If anyone has an idea about it, I would lov to hear it.

I use an executable program of labview which write Boolean arrays on multiple computers in a network and their bed on a computer 'server '.  All the client computers are running windows 2000 with the labview run time engine 8.6.  The server computer is running windows 2000 with the labview 8.6 developers edition.  I can only contact between a client computer and the server computer.  Communication will work either way between these two computers.  Either the computer can sucessfully read or write data datasocket.  Other computers cannot communicate in both directions.  All the computers are on the same network in the same workgroup and can see through the network.  It doesn't seem to be a firewall on all computers.  Suggestions?

It seems he needs the installation standard/full engine runtime 8.6 with decision-making data.  I had the engine smaller run time file installed on the computers that did not work.

  • Can't see the computers in the workgroup

I'm trying to network a Windows XP Pro and a Windows XP Home Edition.  I have logged in using the same account on two, task force is the same, guest is enabled, Netbios over TCP/IP is enabled.  When the XP Home machine is the first to start, I can see all of the computers in the group to work on this, but I get the error "you might not have permission to use network resources" when I try to browse the workgroup on the XP Pro machine.  If I start the first XP Pro machine, the error moves to the XP Home machine.  No one knows what might happen?

Thanks JW!  My problem is solved.  When I used the command net use to connect error '67 system error has occurred.  The network name was not found"came.  I quickly found KB875441 indicating I needed to increase the registry setting for the LmhostsTimeout entry.  In fact, I needed to add the entry, and it worked like a charm.  Thanks for the tip!

  • CAN´t find other computers on the home network Windows.

I have a home network windows already defined with two desktop with Windows XP and a laptop with Windows 2000. The computers are connected to a router with ethernet cables and the lap top wireless (WiFi) to the same router. Now, I'm trying to connect a fourth computer (a desk top) with Windows Vista. It works fine to connect to Internet, but I can't reach the other computers on the network. On other computers, I can see a 'new', but I don't see the others of a "new". Can someone help me with the configuration of the computer "Vista"?  Thanks in advance.  / Thomas

    Hello

To home network computers running different versions of Windows, we need to make sure that what follows.
    a. ensure that all computers are in the same workgroup.
    (b) the value of the private network location type.
    c. open ports in your firewall to allow file and printer sharing.
d. turn on additional file and printer sharing options.
    e. consider using password protected sharing.
    5 using the network card.

The NIC in the network and sharing Center is a graphical view of the computers and devices on your network, showing how they are connected and including problem areas. A computer running Windows XP can be detected and appear on the network map, you may need to install the Protocol Link-Layer Topology Discovery (LLTD) on this computer.

To install LLTD, visit the following link and download: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/922120

  • Machine of Windows 7 cannot see itself or other computers on the network.

I work with a volunteer organization, is attempting to add a new computer to their network. Add the new computer is a laptop running Windows 7 Professional (32-bit, 6.1 build 7601).

It is one of the three computers that connect via a wireless network, with the remaining three computers connected by Ethernet.
One of the laptop is running Windows 7 Home Premium (64 - bit, 6.1 build 7601) and the laptop rest and three desktop computers running XP Professional (5.1, build 2600).
The laptop running Home Premium has no problem with connectivity. He can see himself and all the computers on the network (with the exception of the new Windows 7 Professional machine). The XP machines can all be seen and also the machine Windows 7 Home Premium.
The Windows 7 Professional machine, however, cannot see itself, or one of the machines running on XP. It may, for some reason, see the Windows 7 Home Premium machine.
I can ping each computer on the network from him and he can ping other computers. I can even connect using his IP address and access the folders and files shared like this, but nothing I have seems to change him will appear.
I tried to disable the Windows Firewall and Microsoft Security Essentials, neither of which has an effect any. The computers are all in the same workgroup and network machines Win 7 is set to work on both.
I can't understand why this new computer should have these problems, I'm not a professional so there is probably something basic, I missed, but if anyone has any ideas I would be much obliged.
    Thank you very much.

  • The desire to have identical screens 'connect' for both computers, both running Windows XP, SP3.

I have two desktop computers, one running Windows XP Professional, SP3 and the other running Windows XP Home Edition, SP3. When I connect the computer professional, it passes through the boot info, then on the screen of Microsoft Windows XP with horizontally lights flashing and then having to display all users who said "to begin, click your user name." However, on the computer of the publishing house, he crosses the start screen, the screen of Microsoft Windows XP with horizontally lights flashing, but goes to a screen titled "Windows Journal" and asks for my username and password.

What should I do to get the computer to the Publishing House to display the same "to begin, click your user name" with user names like the professional instead of the "newspapers Windows screen?"

First, go to control panel > user accounts, and then make sure the "Use the home screen" checkbox is checked. OK your way out.  See http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/ua_logon_at_welcome_page_w.mspx?mfr=true

  • One of the computers on the local network Windows XP cannot access a http site.

I ping to the alpha-numeric address (on this computer) and ping uses a private IP address: 198.168.88.68 (all packages are lost).

All computers on the LAN access correctly.

When I ping at the same alphanumeric address on other computers

They ping 204.38.19.76 and I successfully received all return packages.

I connect using my Internet provider ADSL router. I know it does NAT and all my LAN computers get their IP addresses dynamically.

I thought it was a problem of Internet Explorer, but after I discovered the computer resolves the ip address for the external address as a private IP address. I force the PC to get another IP address and also I had used: ipconfig/release, ipconfig / renew. And even by configuring it with a static ip address does not work.
