BKF files

Hi people, I think remember that some time ago, possibly using Windows XP I created a Zip disk backup files, which have an extension of BKF.

I would like to reused these files but have no idea at this time as to the best way around the situation.

I currently use Windows 7 Pro version.

Your help would be much appreciated.

David

Hi David,

Is there a good guide (including the link to restore Windows NT Backup for Win 7) on the article below.

    Have you tried?

I know that Vista has replaced NTBackup with Windows Backup and Restore Center, who did not read *.bkf files in Windows XP, and there was an outcry until Microsoft made the available restore NTBackup utility.

I did a partial file backup using backup/restore XP. My hard drive was damaged by a power surge. I am now trying to restore these files to another XP computer but restore not read cd? I do not have the *.bkf file she asks. How to restore these files?

I have several cd with backup files, but I can't access either one of them.

for none of them, he asks that *.bkf that the cd do not appear.

    Hello

Are you able to browse the disc and see the files after you insert the disc in the drive?

    (a) Insert the CD in the computer.

    (b) double click on computer and select the CD/DVD drive.

If you are able to see the files, you can copy and paste the files.

If you can't see the files, then there is no other options left to fix the problem.

  • Corrupted BKF files?

MS (or someone) provide a free utility to repair BKF files? Mine seem to go quite often corrupt.

The best solution is to abandon NTBackup (which is what you use) and get a disk cloning or the disk imaging application.  If you have a Western Digital hard drive, you can get a free version of Acronis True Image WD's (http://support.wdc.com/product/downloaddetail.asp?swid=119) or you can get the software separately (this is not an exhaustive list and is in no particular order):

    Acronis True Image Home 11
    EASEUS ToDo Backup
Paragon Drive Copy or Partition Manager Personal
    Casper
    Norton Ghost

    Hi David Lado.

Welcome to the Microsoft answers community site.

You can restore a backup created on a previous version of Windows (the backup file will have a .bkf file name extension) by using Windows NT Backup Restore Utility. For more information on system requirements and how to download and run this program, go to the Microsoft Windows NT Backup Restore Utility website.

To run Windows NT Backup Restore utility, you need to turn on removable storage management.

To turn on removable storage management

    1. open programs and features by clicking on the Start button , by clicking on the Control Panel, click programs, and then click programs and features.
    2. in the left pane, click Windows turn features on or off. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    3. Select the check box next to removable storage management to enable the feature, and then click OK.

  • Reading of .bkf files on xp pro with windows vista or windows 7.

It comes to clarify my previous post. How can I open the files in .bkf created with xp pro backup tool with my windows vista machine? I have similar problems with windows 7 to use these saved files with my new computer?

Here is a free software that opens and retrieves the BKF files (and repairs corrupt files): .  Once loaded, you'll be able to read BKF files using the program (and repair those that are corrupt).  This program is compatible with Vista (according to information posted on the site).  If it installs like normal programs, it creates an association between itself and the BKF files so you won't have to go through the process every time that you want to open/recover a BKF file (if it doesn't, go to Start/Default / programs / associate a file or Protocol with a program / and find the BKF files and changing the association to the program (if it isn't already there).)  You may need to search for the executable file of the program manually make the association (but I doubt it).

Here is another option that may better suit your needs (I'm not sure what you have in mind): .  The same notes on file associations apply to this program (although I would not install both of them at the same time to avoid a situation of conflict of associations - although the more likely scenario is that the last installed program will be the one with the association).

I don't know how these files (or others) will work with Windows7 - please post this question in the Forums Windows7: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/category/windows7 where people who specialize in issues of Windows7 will be more than happy to help you with your question.

    I hope this helps.

  • How to FORMAT my hard drive with a RECOVERY PARTITION and my system restore from. BKF files

History made as short as possible.

I inherited a gateway with XP Media Center 2004. I transferred all my old files to the new computer, and it worked fine. I did a full backup of the system (.) BKF). Later, I installed a disc for my Vivitar camera I used before with my old system and my computer crashed.

I tried everything I know to do a restore. F8, F10 and F11 during start-up and the best I could come up with was the safe MODE, but it would fail to any ENTRY.

I really feel like the hard disk must be formatted and start over. I can not access the recovery partition and no XP CD was provided.

My question is: How can I reformat the hard drive with a petition of recovery and reinstall my operating system of BKF files?

    Hello

Please refer to the suggestion provided by "Ronnie Vernon" on the following thread:

    http://answers.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/Forum/Windows_7-files/i-want-to-open-a-bkf-file-in-Windows-7-that-was/8fdff751-623b-401F-A254-af3d1e99d7b0?msgId=1ce8b341-EEBD-4D5E-916c-a5a8c90d8c09

In case of failure the backup to the top folder may be corrupted, do third party software to retrieve.

    Note:

Using third-party software, including hardware drivers can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the use of third-party software can be solved. Software using third party is at your own risk.

    It will be useful.
