Black screen, no BIOS, no beeps...

I have a HP G72 laptop. A few days ago, I was thinking about install
Ubuntu. I started from the LiveUSB. For one reason or another, I claim temporary insanity, when the "Try Ubuntu" screen came, Ipressed the power button on the laptop instead of through the option restart.

Now the laptop will not boot from the hard drive. It shows no BIOS, or anything like that, just a black screen. Fan runs, the wifi light is on, the number lock lights up but the screen is totally blank. I connected an external monitor and it does not show something or the other.

However, if I put the Ubuntu Live USB in, the system starts from him and the external monitor shows Ubuntu.

Any help or insight will be greatly appreciated.

I solved the problem.  Don't know how but I ripped the system down to the basic components and put back them together and he started very well in Windows.

    Hi @ sokw,

I have read and reviewed the post. Thanks for your reply. It seems that bios is damaged, and that is why the computer does not start. As it cannot be fixed by any software troubleshooting, you will need to contact the HP support by phone for the machine.

HP technical support are available by clicking on the following link:

    (1) once the page opens, please select the country in which you are located. Then enter your model of HP on the right number.

    (2) then choose "Contact the Support" tab at the top and scroll to the bottom of the page "HP Support - contact" to fill out the form with your details.

  • No black screen, good Bios, no mode without failure, no. Cursor, no idea

I turn on the computer, it goes straight to a black screen. No beeps, no cursor, it will go to the safe mode screen but fails to proceed after all selection. It goes also to the bios screen. Any suggestions? Maybe an easy solution?

If you cannot boot to the last known good configuration, then go to another computer and find SpotMau on web and create a bootable floppy (it's a little money but I save several data of the computer, this passing - boots to a system based on linux from the CD menu). You will need an external hard drive to back up your data to-you may be able to restore the system using a recovery disk. Or replace the hard drive and reinstall using the operating disks that you created when you backed up.

However, FIRST thing to try is to remove all the devices of the system (unplug all USB drives and printers etc.) and then restart.

  • Satellite C650 - black screen after BIOS update

My Satellite C650 Windows 7 - won't start afte BIOS update / switch.

Everything worked very well until the automatic update of Toshiba asked me to download and install the new BIOS update, I did. At the same session Windows and McAfee asked updated. I agreed to all. After all updates have been installed, turns off. The next day when I walk, I see only black screen. I also tried F2, F12 and drive recovery. Nothing happens!

    Any recommendation?

    Hey,.

It seems that something was wrong during the update of the BIOS and so that you can t the computer unbootable. But I put t understand why you did the BIOS update. If everything works correctly, you can forget about this update. More if you do a BIOS update you shouldn't t run any other updates or programs that might affect the update of the BIOS.

Anyway, in this case you can do nothing and you need professional help. Please contact an authorized service provider and guys can help you update the ROM module On the Web from Toshiba site, you can find a list of all the FSA:
http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > find an authorized service provider

    Good luck! :)

If the BIOS update was not properly flashed, the ROM should generally be flashed with a disc of crisis of the BIOS.
This can be done by authorized Toshiba available in your country.
Then get in touch with the ASP to solve this problem.

  • Satellite L450 (PSLY0E) - a black screen after BIOS update

It seems I have "brick" my phone during a bios utdate that went wrong... black screen as suspect: o.

The laptop is a Toshiba satellite L450 (PSLY0E)
The new bios image is named "bwaa150a.rom".

Anyone know if it is possible to recover the bios of the flash or floppy drive, using a sort of toolfrom recovery inside the bios chip?... .or something?

Anyone know who is the manufacturer of this bios?
If I rename the bios image during a recovery, what 12xxxxx be named?

To my knowledge, it is possible to reflash the EPROM module using the special procedure of crisis of the BIOS. But this crisis BIOS disk for Toshiba computers laptops isn't available for download.
This must be done by authorized maker Toshiba.

But I also read in the forum about those who tried some discs of crisis 3rd party BIOS.
Sometimes it worked, but in most cases, you need advanced help technician.

However, to use the forum search option advanced to search for similar topics on crisis disk BIOS. Otherwise, as I said above: you last chance might be the ASP.

  • Satellite C660D (PSC1YE) black screen after BIOS update

I tried to update my Bios on my Satellite C660D portable (psc1YE) last week (big mistake).

Something went wrong during the update and now when I power on I just get a black screen (LEDS and fan).

After reviewing, the conclusion is that I damaged the BIOS that must now be blind flashed.
So I got the hand on a 512MB memory stick, formatted using FAT through windows XP and used Wincris to create a startup disk after you have added the file bios.rom (renamed Bios.wph) which I extracted the last update of the BIOS on the Toshiba site.

My memory stick has three visible files on it, Phlash16.exe, bios.wph and minidos.
I plug laptop with battery, DVD player and power disconnected to stick, and hold Fn + B re-connection cable cable, turn it on.

The fan whirs at full speed, and the USB lights up and flashes then for a minute, as if being read. No matter how long I let on, the fan will continue whirring and the USB is on and when I unplug and put in still works a black screen.

I tried different sticks, (up to 4 GB with FAT32 format), programs of different startup (for example, the HP utility) drive but still no luck.

Can someone tell me what I do wrong? I tried to look for a newer version of Phlash16 just in case that was the problem, but can not find one any where (mine is version 2008)

All advice would be greatly appreciated even if it's just to tell me that I'm wasting my time because the pc is not repairable.

I can't tell you if you waste your time or not because I n know if the motherboard ROM module is OK or not

In most cases, it should be possible to reflash the ROM module using the BIOS crisis disk but this disc is available to authorized Toshiba service technicians and as much as I know reflash this methods is not always the same

However, in some cases it might be possible that the mobo could not be fixed by disk crisis, it would be the worst case

I recommend you to contact a certified maintainer Toshiba to check guys would be able to use the crisis disk and could test whether its possible to reflash the module ROM
Is it not would be not possible well in this case you would need new motherboard :(
But lets hope do ' t you need...

    Hello!

I have laptop Satellite L40 - 14 H (PSL48E). I installed Windows XP, it worked fine, except the keypad is lit permanently so I couldn't enter a few symbols. I decided to install the special BIOS for WinXP, which downloaded from the Toshiba web site. The PSL48x model is in the support list. • Yoga 2 Pro Black Screen after Bios Update

Only, I have formatted my yoga 2 pro, downloaded the drivers and ran the update of the Bios. I followed the instructions on playing ran me the .exe, one click on next/ok until you restart the laptop and if I'm not mistaken a menu red with a progress bar appeared. At this time, I left and when I came back a few minutes later, the laptop is on, the lighting of the screen was on but the screen was black, the backlight of the keyboard was also turned on and everything else was off. Lights on/near the switch indicating if there turned on and connected to the AC are off.

It was like that for more than 30 minutes now, no sign of progress. This happened to someone else before? I'm not very keen on must turn off or unplug the laptop while flashing the BIOS, but at this point there is not much else I can do.

I found the answer to my problem to

    http://forums.Lenovo.com/T5/idea-Windows-based-tablets-and/yoga-2-BIOS-update-crash/m-p/1322487/high...

Now that I found this post, I remember the instructions telling me to turn it off manually when I've updated the bios earlier this year. However, these instructions don't mention about it, maybe they should be updated?

  • Re: Satellite L735-158 - black screen in BIOS update

    Hi all

I have not found a solution to my problem anywhere, so I'll try here.
I was going to update the Bios on a Satellite L735-158.
I went to the Toshiba´s website, downloaded and follow the instructions... but the app. 15 seconds after double-clicking on the file of orders... some sort of sign of error came.

The computer "locked" and then the screen is dead.
When I turn on and off with the switch, I can clearly hear the computer works (although strangely), but the screen is dead.

    Can anyone here help?

    Thank you
    G

Of course the EPROM module where the BIOS is stored was not flashed properly.
Something went wrong during the update of the BIOS and the module is bad.
I suppose that the update procedure using the special crisis disk BIOS help you solve the problem.

But in most cases this procedure must be done by Toshiba ASP.

Alternatively, you can search the forum for a few similar discussions on the crisis disk BIOS here.
Some users where it is able to solve this problem by using some 3rd party disk but it doesn't always work.

So is probably that you last chance to repair the ASP from Toshiba

    Hello

I am a professional (DHL Aviation)
I support a user that I advised to buy the Toshiba because of my great experience with it.
Laptop is about 3 years - W7 Ultimate.

Problem: computer laptop is not starting at all, screen remains dead, only powerlight and fan says he works. No BIOS screen options, no Toshiba welcome screen, nothing...

Laptop MOBO power. Power light is on when on the current power of light work light Central (illegible icon) is orange, no other active lighting.

Low start and keeps running fan.

    Measures taken so far:
    (1) remove all power and press the power button / stop for 30 seconds then restart
    (2) memory reinstall
    (3) replaced HARD disk
    (4) blew fans (the user is a smoker - now STINKS like HELL)
    (5) tried to start a liveDVD Fedora & Fuduntu, begins to turn, but then stops turning. No OS seems to be loaded into memory.

    No change

Any help would be appreciated - thanks in advance.

    > Problem: computer laptop is not starting at all, screen remains dead, only powerlight and fan says he works.

No BIOS screen options, no Toshiba welcome screen, nothing...
Sounds like motherboard problem if the Toshiba start screen does not appear, it means thet POST (power self test) may not the product, which means that it is a junk motherboard

I think you need to replace the mobo ;(
