Black screen on boot - Toshiba Satellite M70

Hi all

I have Toshiba Satellite M70, I need help, and I will describe my problem:

-A few days my screen went black all of a sudden, I don't know how do I was away from the laptop.
-Until yesterday, when I start my laptop, it gives me the black screen all the time but when I put to sleep by closing the laptop for a few seconds and then I click the button, my screen starts showing very well until my next restart and I do it again (I usually keep my laptop running almost 18 hours) which means that there is a lot of time on my next boot)
-But today I started too many times, it gives me the black screen and the sleep mode no longer works. But several times today when I tried to start, the display shows the Toshiba screen for only 1 second then black alley again.

PS You can see almost threw the black screen just if there is a Sun facing the laptop.

Thank you in advance,
Best regards
Mr. Mher Krikorian

> You can see almost threw the black screen just if there is a Sun facing the laptop
This is very useful information
I think that the problem is related to the FL inverter
FL-converter is a small part that controls the backlight of the display.
If this part starts to malfunction so you would see everything as behind a thick fog

In my view the FL inverter must be checked and replaced if necessary
This, to get in touch with a local service technician

Welcome & happy new year!

    Hello
    I have a laptop TOSHIBA SATELLITE M70-169
I wanted to update my drivers, so I logged on the TOSHIBA site.
The problem is that my phone is not listed on the site, there are * M70-168 * and * M70-170 * but not * M70 - 169 *.
I tried the recognition by serial number, result: DO NOT RECOGNISED

I tested the autodetection, and here too, the result was: DO NOT RECOGNISED.
I am surprised that my laptop is not recognized on the official website of TOSHIBA, while I had bought in a store.

Can someone tell me if he had the same problem and give me directions to upgrade my laptop?

    Thank you

Satellite M70 is old enough laptop model, and I can imagine that auto detection tool doesn't properly work. Your laptop is the model European and part PSM70E number (very important for research).
In any case, you can find all the drivers or updates manually. Follow these steps:

Visit the download page for Toshiba under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU
    Click tracking options:
    Type of product - ARCHIVE
    Family - SATELLITE
Series of products - M SERIES SATELLITES
    Model - SATELLITE M70 (PSM70)
    Short model No. - PSM70E
    OS - operating system

And all of the available stuff appears there.

  • Satellite L300D: black screen during boot - stuck on classpnp.sys & repair

Hi I have 3 year old Toshiba L300D.
1 year back I upgraded vista to windows 7 Home premium.

3 days back I had problem - my windows start page was hanged and was not forward, also all types of safe mode was stuck on classpnp.sys.

After reading many forums, I started with USB (with windows 7) and use command prompt and all 'pcmcia' realted deleted files from drive C. Now using function F8

I can't use any option (all the safe mode option, low resolution, restarting, etc. doesn't work, even in the Bios configuration changes will not work). Also now start my PC with USB, after the start of the windows black screen page appears with the white arrow and it will not go further this black screen so I can't even use now guest & installation option.

Now, I don't know what to do :(
Any help will be appreciated :)

    Hello

The classpnp.sys seems to belong to «service Plug & Play of Windows 7»
Connect USB devices to the laptop?
Try to start the unit without the connected USB devices.

In the worst case, you have to reinstall the OS using the recovery disk if F8 and all other Repair Options would not work.

  • Satellite L850D: Black screen - no boot, no post OFFICE, no external display

I tried every remedy known that I could find on the internet for this problem, apart from try to reflow the double graphics chips that are on this machine, which in my mind is a Toshiba design flaw as the heat sink covers only one of the two graphics chips on this model of the Toshiba L850D , and it seems totally wrong because of transferrence of heat and the many problems that I met with the graphics chip overheating of other manufactureres, even if they have some heat sinks covering their graphics chips.

I studied the internet for well over a week and, so far, no one has given an answer to anyone who is / was or had this problem, which seems to relate to other models as well.

I found a thread of January 2014 detailing this particular issue, but there was no response provided to correct.
I don't know if this is allowed, but the relevant thread to this specific question is provided: -.

Model real that I have here is the Toshiba Satellite L850D, model PSKGEA-003001 number and card mother specific number H000052650 WKC - 51 revision 2.1 or 7054D2745F87.

These seem to be so hard to find (or maybe should be off) even on eBay, so wonder if it is a Toshiba FU that they no longer use Dual Graphics chips without a heatsink on the two?

Have found the same style advice on eBay, being a WKC29 H000051780 and H000050830 WKC32, but all other seem to be back to an integrated graphics card or what appears to be the embedded processor?

Marketing I tried without HDD, changed the existing RAM, switched slots, out of ODD, removed RAM and got the beep codes saying ' Hey? Where is the RAM? ', but nothing... External monitor does not work, said only: "check video cable".

This all started when the only key that worked once a young user (their son) has decided to remove the files from the laptop of his deceased father and the laptop wouldn't start, which was due to a too many deletions, which creates a file system error.

When I got the machine to fix, the only key that cost labor was F2 for BIOS (due to disk problems HARD o/s)... F8 safe mode does not work, so I changed the BIOS to ODD as the first start, but again, it went straight to the error of loading of the operating system (due to HARD drive problems).

Hirens Boot CD loads tried, but failed, along withr than any other CD/DVD placed in the ODD (which also failed even before I tried to change the BIOS settings).
Except for the replacement of the motherboard, I am totally confused, but at this point in time, I can't even check if HDD fires up on top of the replacement, when the mother less expensive I can get is around $300 - $ 350.

Has anyone found the answer to this challenge that other users have successfully?
Seems a waste if it's just a chip.

Have also tried remove BIOS/CMOS Battery and left for a day or two (or more), but no change.
Would appreciate any help you can provide.

    Appreciate any help.
    Thank you
    Daryl

    Hi Daryl,

The problem described (no boot, no post) can happen to any portable computer because this problem can be caused by faulty RAM or motherboard.

I guess in most cases, the motherboard is perhaps the troublemaker if replacement RAM has not helped get the laptop running.

But I guess that the card mother isn t the best replacement option in the case where the mandate of isn t valid because the new part is very expensive and I guess that it s not worth replacing.

But of course it s your own decision

  • Blue screen sometimes appears on Satellite M70

    Hello

I would like to express my immense frustration with my laptop satellite M70 as I have for over a year now (warranty expired) and almost as soon as the appointment was an issue in which that a blue screen appeared and restarting the computer... According to the error report that there is a problem with the graphics card or display driver.

I take my dealer for repair, but the problem remains (there went 3 TIMES! more waiting for a month for repairs every time! and they send it to the service of toshiba...)... that the problem does not occur * all the time * it seems they just didn't notice or something: (.)

I update all the drivers, but it had no effect on the problem...

So now what? Do I have to send it for repair and they finally replace the graphics card... what I pay? !!

This is all very upsetting to me as you can imagine...

And know its worse... it seems to happen more... and many times the computer won´t restart after the blue screen... there just black.

Now, almost everytime I turn it on it will not start... the fan will work only for a few seconds and that's it.

I'm almost certain that the graphics card is defective... can I replace it at home? Argh this just feels bad, the computer had this problem almost from the beginning, and I sent it for repair... they just don't fix it... I wouldn't pay to fix it as I sent it for repair 3 times while he still had the warranty...

Answer please I'm desperate and have no idea what to do

    Hi João

    > So now what? Do I have to send it for repair and they finally replace the graphics card... what I pay? !!

No! Back up all your important data and reinstall the operating system using recovery media delivered. After doing this watch carefully if the problem persists. I have the same laptop on a year, and it works perfectly. I noticed a BSOD just twice, but both times after installing stupid some shareware programs.

I have removed from the system and everything was OK again. Please make the clean OS install and post again if the BSOD occurs again.

  • Black Screen on Login on Satellite A200 on Vista

My new boots OK Satellite and takes me to the fine login screen. When I choose to connect, I get a normal screen as if it's going through my home page, and then after a few seconds the screen goes black, with just the showing white arrow cursor.

To get out of this I go , move the user to another user and repeat back to me as a user. Then it works OK but it will quickly thanks to a black screen when I change new user.

Clues as to what is happening and how to fix it?

Have you installed and configured the Toshiba picture yourself?

This is a very rare issue because there should be only one user configured (you).
I think that you need to insert the recovery CD and should recover the laptop to check if the same thing happens on the new OS installed.

    Hello

You can access the BIOS by pressing F2?
Boot from a boot as Recovery DVD disk?

If both is not possible, I'm afraid you have a serious hardware problem m.
In this case, I get just speculate on the affected parts. Maybe his problem GPU or motherboard who knows

  • BSOD - black screen of death to Satellite P20 552

    Hello

I have this laptop since 2005.

Today, after put the laptop to sleep, I picked up, and then after the system restored Windows, the screen started going black and back to normal, once again, then I noticed some artifacts on the screen, then black again, then normal, then artifacts, etc. This continued for about 2 minutes, after which I delivered to zero by pressing and holding down the power button.

When I turned on the laptop again, I got the dreaded BSOD, black version. Symptoms:

    -Black screen (blue BSOD)
    -No logo TOSHIBA
    -No test POST
-No visible inscription on the screen
-No HARD drive activity (HDD seems it does not work)
-CDROM seems to work, but cannot start with the XP CD or Bootmed Rescue CD. CD ROM glad to read the disc and then idling.

    Tried so far:

    1. with the help of the P20-552 on my Toshiba Satellite 1950 801 PSU. Works.
2 begin the Satellite P20 552 of the battery of the device. Power supply is removed. Same results. (BSOD etc.).
    3. remove the battery and start satellite P20 552, with its own power supply. Same results. (BSOD etc.).
4 remove the battery and start Satellite P20 552 upward with a PSU of Toshiba Satellite 1950 801. Same results. (BSOD etc.).
    5. remove all devices, the baterry and CDROM drive and hold down the power button / stop for 1 minute, then try to start. Same results. (BSOD etc.).
    6. start-up of exploitation and hold (key insert of your choice here). Same results.

I am an advanced PC user. I own 3 different PC, 2 Toshiba laptops and a desktop PC with a Gigabyte MOBO and processor Intel QX 9650 (Extreme Yorkfield) that I assembled from scratch. My Toshiba Satellite 1950 801 worked tirelessly and flawlessly for, uh, almost ten years now.

It seems to me that this issue is a matter of 'sudden death' MOBO. I thought to open the laptop and remove the CMOS battery, because how Satellite P20 552 lacks a "hard reset" button

What do you think guys? Some tips before you apply the Russian system on the laptop P20-552?

    Thanks in advance.

    Leon

    Hello

I don t think that remove the CMOS battery would be useful in this case
You could remove one of the memory modules and could test each module in each of the slots.
This could be useful in case one of these modules or the slots would be defective.

You said that there is no Toshiba start screen and no message (power on self-test) perceptible property, this means that a motherboard or a part on the motherboard could be defective, but the black screen with artifacts may be the result of a GPU malfunction.

    What do you think?

  • Black screen after login on Satellite L350-20 q (normal mode)

My Satellite L350-20 q running Vista Basic.
After the connection, which is normal, I'm going to the arrow then turning to a permanent black screen when I start in normal mode.
In safe mode, I have a normal behavior and I can work. No malware present a Spybot report. But my Avast antivirus is doesn't seem to work in safe mode.
Do you have an idea about this problem?

A colleague advised me to update my graphics driver which is currently version 06/12/2008 Intel Corporation 7.15.10.I502 for Mobile Intel 4 series express chipset family. What is the URL and the name of the file to download the latest driver?

On this virtual path, it is not easy to say what the problem is here. I don't know since when you have this strange problem but if possible, try to roll back the OS to an earlier time until she starts to happen. Use the System Restore tool to do this.

I don't know what is the seriousness of this problem may be but and if the display driver installation can help. To be honest I don't think. My advice to you is to back up all your important data and install OS again using recovery image installation. After doing this you will have factory again and everything will be OK.

By the way: I think that this old notebook is supported for Win7. A long time ago I ve installed Win7 32 bit on L300 and there HERE perfectly. Much better than the original Vista OS.

  • Black screen randomly on the Satellite A200-10 x

Hi, recently my laptop started giving me a black screen for like once a day. Now, the past 2 days its been quite... 4 times this morning! The symptoms are: black screen + DVD drive LED lights up and stays like that. So, I stop it manually.
Sometimes he does once again as soon as I load Vista.

There is no specific request which is the cause as it happened all through my emails. I have updated the BIOS VGA drivers and too.

I don't think that it's an overheating problem because he never gave me problems before, and compared to other laptops, it becomes not that hot.

It is still under warranty, but it is so random, I just hope that the technician will say just that its nothing. Any ideas?

    Thank you

    Hello

Have you tried an external monitor to your laptop computer? If the external monitor works properly I think that there is something wrong with your internal LCD. Maybe it's s inverter a FL issue because this part control the backlight of the LCD screen.

In the worst case, there is something wrong with the motherboard or graphics card but an ASP is able to help you. The laptop technicians can check your laptop and share the material if it of necessary.
Here, you can search an ASP:

  • Black screen netbook boots, unable to access HP recovery

I am trying to help a friend who is having problems with the HP Mini 110-3098NR. He said once he installed a game it has downloaded, Zoo Tycoon, that a day or two later would not start the computer. I tried to troubleshoot the computer and was able to reproduce the problem he feels. I tried all versions of safe mode, but all produced the same result to see just a black screen with the mouse in the Center. I let them rest on this screen for several minutes and then restarted itself and went through the same loop again.

I googled the question and found a HP support article that explains how to access the HP recovery and how to restore the netbook at default. In a first time by pressing F11 did nothing because he would go to a screen saying the computer is not close properly and asked if I wanted to start normally. I rebooted it and pressed the ESC key to stop the boot and was able to press F11. But instead goes to HP Recovery screen, as the article says, it is initialized to the screen asking which version of safe mode, I wanted to start or if I wanted to start normally.

I continued to restart and try to make it work and a notice came up saying he could say that windows had starting problems and asked if I wanted to run the Startup Wizard. He checked for issues while the HARD drive for questions, it took more than an hour. But he said that it was not able to fix it automatically.  He gave a long list of questions that he was not able to fix, I didn't take a picture of him, but I can try to get it do again, so I can take a picture if necessary.

The computer came with Windows 7 starter, but I've upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate shortly after he got him last year because he did not like the fact that you could not do many things because it is the starter version.  So my question is, is their a way to fix this netbook without losing any of its files or I'll have to reinstall windows 7 to get rid of this virus and error?

I decided to just obtained in advance and reinstall Windows 7 since no one answered. It works now.
