Black screen on startup of the Satellite NB10-A-10V

Hello

I just bought a new computer toshiba laptop satellite NB10-A-10V but I hate windows 8.1 and I tried to install ubuntu 14.04.

Now when I start my laptop replaced black screen toshiba logo and any key worked (F12, delete, escape)
So, how can I manage this problem? Why, toshiba does not or blocked an OS other than windows 8.1?
I called support and they told me that it is 70 euros for it. It's almost a flight!

So I think it's a good laptop and I just want to use it with ubuntu, I don't see where is the problem.

Otherwise I'll fix it in a store of this kind of question, and I will never buy another toshiba in my future.

So, if you can find a solution (for free, 300 euros already for the laptop 4 days ago only.) it will be very cool

Thank you

Hello

Usually after the purchase of a new product, new owner should read paper textbooks s user initially. It is described that original preinstalled recovery image (original version of Windows) is saved on the HARD drive, and each new owner, before you start to do some experiments or install anything else should create recovery media. It can be DVD or USB, depending on the model of the machine.
You created the recovery media?

Very important, is that Toshiba does not support Linux, but in general, you can do with your machine all you want. No you don't have to use the version preinstalled Windows. Many people use Win7 or Linux on various models of Toshiba. Due to this Toshiba has created the separate category of Linux on this forum where you can exchange information and experience with other users of the forum.

I must also say that you are mistaken if you think that Toshiba is blocking something. That s certainly wrong. When you stop preinstalled Win8 completely, you will be able to enter the BIOS settings and change the MODE to BOOT. After doing this, you can install anything you want.

More info on what you can read on http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB2C03F80002R01.htm

For more questions on Linux on Toshiba laptops I recommend you to visit category Linux SOFTWARE and OPERATING SYSTEM.

Good luck

Sometimes, I have the problem that my laptop starts up with a black screen. The laptop will then just stay there until I have manually turn it works again.

I was not yet able to determine exactly in what circumstances sometimes, when starting, sometimes when you restart it.

After that I restart the Windows laptop then tell me he could not start properly and ask me for the etc SafeMode. That's why I first concluded that it could be a Windows problem, but after using the recovery dvd twice I think I can exclude.

    Hi robc,.

    very good and detailed describtion!

In my opinion the graphics card work properly because otherwise the Toshiba logo have not been shown.

So I think that failure is perhaps a bad connection of the IDE cable, but to know definitely you should bring a short verification to a Toshiba Service partner!

I think that your M30 Satellite Pro is still under warranty

I can tell you how to make bootable disks, but you already have a disk.

He has changed since good means of XP repair install from disk by booting from it.

I would add that info to disk Bootable repair, just in case your DVD is a factory of one computer.

It's Vista only repair installation option these days.
    It must be switched on!
    Not much use, is it!

    Good luck with it.

Download the ISO on the provided link and do a repair of the disc.

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.

When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.

NeoSmart containing the content of the Windows Vista DVD 'Recovery Centre', as we refer to him. It cannot be used to install or reinstall Windows Vista, and is just a Windows PE interface to recovering your PC. Technically, we could re-create this installation with downloadable media media freely from Microsoft (namely the Microsoft WAIK, several gigabyte download); but it is pretty darn decent of Microsoft to present Windows users who might not be able to create such a thing on their own.

Read all the info on the website on how to create and use it.

It's a very good Vista Startup Repair disk.

You can do a system restart tool, system, etc it restore.

It is NOT a disc of resettlement.

If I press the key "FN" for more function, the lobe burn, but I can do it only for a few seconds, then there reakt custom more

    thx for the help...

It is difficult to tell if it s a defective GPU or the internal laptop display.
You can try to connect an external monitor to the laptop to check if something appears on the second monitor.

If you see any picture or anything else so I guess that the graphics card is dead.
This could be the case value because the GPU is fixed on the Board and that's why the whole motherboard replacement would be necessary.

Seems you have to reach a point of service authorized in your country for the control of the laptop and the diagnosis of the error.

If the warranty is valid everything should be done for free!

    What is the problem?
    Tanks, boyfriend

    Hello

You are able to access the BIOS?
If this is while there could be a motherboard problem

Have you tried to connect the Satellite laptop for external monitor to check if something is not visible on the second screen?
I think it would be useful to get more information about the possible hardware problem
If a second screen would be too dark, then a problem of graphics card would be possible

However, I doubt that you could fix yourself. Most of the time it s a job for a technician

  • After the updates of windows, the computer stops responding with a black screen at startup of the system

Original title: Windows XP does not start after the update, no error message

Has made no changes to the system, but the last thing that happened was an update of Windows security on stop.

Now when I boot, the BIOS p.o.s.t. shows good HDs, good DVD-Rom, RAM, but Windows never starts, goes just a black screen, HDs are not accessed.

-F8 does nothing, can't use the last known good Config or Mode safe

-Change boot order in the BIOS to boot from the Windows XP DVD, hoping to get the recovery console, but the same thing: black screen, no attempt to spin-up DVD or HDs.

-Removal of mobo battery to reset the CMOS, no joy.

-Checked and re checked all connections inside.

-Stripped devices and added one at a time, no joy.

-Traded-in an old video card in case it was difficult to generate the higher res gfx, no joy.

I was construction/upgrade / repair my own PC for 3 decades and can usually solve the problem and fix it myself, but this one me completely baffled.

    Any suggestions?

    Hi Cougarific,

We recommend that you repair your Windows installation in according to method 2 of this article and check the result.
See computer stops responding with a black screen when you start Windows XP

Note: When you perform a repair installation, it restores the current installation of Windows XP to the version on the installation DVD. This requires you to reinstall all updates that do not appear in this version of Windows XP disc.

  • Black screen when I restart the Satellite M305D-S4830

    Hello

I bought my Toshiba Satellite M305D-S4830 laptop a few months ago and I had a little problem with it.
Whenever I choose to "Restart" of the computer, it normally stops and begins to restart, but the screen stays black and the DVD player seems to loop start (like if it tries to start, but it may not).

It does this, infinitely and finally, I have to hold the power button to turn off and then on again.
    There, it starts normally.

In addition, the computer stops perfectly and boots perfectly when he was the previous order.

In any case, I can fix the function 'reboot '?

    Hmm that's strange

Have you tried to recover the operating system and to check if the problem still persists after using the recovery disk?
    Select this check box.

In addition, you should check your BIOS. Maybe a newer version is available.
    If so, then update!

  • White screen on startup of the satellite C850

I bought a Toshiba Satellite C850 PSCBWA-05E001 so 18 months out of warranty now.
I bought it for a few friends, I gave him to who are in the Philippines, so it is difficult for me to check and repair. My friends lack the funds to get it checked if any help would be appreciated.

Some days he started to initiate a white screen. You can see the mouse, but that's all. They are unable to get the computer display anything. I read on several forums that it could be a video cable however I got them to hooked to an external monitor to work through the laptop's VGA output & restarted the laptop & the external monitor goes to white screen which are also seems to exclude a faulty video cable as this would affect the monitor to the laptop only I think.

I'm concerned that does not the video card is a graphics chip of integregrated I guess that means to replace the whole motherboard I guess.

Very disappointed for my friends since the machine is just out of warranty.
    Someone at - it ideas?

    > I am afraid that does not the video card is a graphics chip of integregrated I guess that means to replace the whole motherboard I guess.

Yes, I have fear of the motherboard must be replaced in case of malfunction of the graphics card of m.
It would be the worst cases because the new motherboard is very expensive and in most cases it s not worth buying a new motherboard if isn t valid warranty more.

I have no many solutions for you; It looks like a hardware problem and to resolve this problem, replace the defective part. But of course, it of a just a question of money :(

  • Black screen on startup with a Satellite U200-115

I have a U200-115, I downloaded an upgrade for the BIOS of toshiba and installed in accordance with their instructions. Since upgrading my laptop does not start, all I get is a black sreen with a sound signal and a flashing light orange.

    Any ideas?

The U200 is a new laptop. Don t think you will find diagrams for the motherboard. But why do you need them?

As mentioned above the BIOS flashing failed and you need to contact the ASP in your country. If you area lucky man that the motherboard must be not changed but the chip of the ROM BIOS flashed again. Do not hesitate to ask for the help guys!

  • Intermittent failure to detect the screen on startup on the Satellite X 200

For awhile now, my X 200 suffered intermittent problems with the screen. When turn he will deliver a long and two short beeps and then proceed to start but without the screen.

I normally feed the cycle several times and find that it sorts itself, but tonight he would not cooperate so I dug a cable for my TV and used as a monitor and of course the machine starts very well and after POST went immediately to the embedded poster again. Does anyone have an idea what is happening and why?

    A little more background.
This is slot and turned off for about a month now.
I used a variety of drivers the two latest WHQL and LV2G releases, but they all have the same problem.

Right now I'm on the default of most drivers, and I'm going through the process of sprinkled updates having rebuilt just clean the machine because of other problems (in a separate thread), but immediately before reconstruction, the problem has been all too obvious and all the drivers were later so I don't think this is a driver related issue or at least not one that seems be resolved by any of the releases.

Seems rather strange. Did you check your BIOS options? Maybe you should set this back to the default settings.
Or try and install the latest version of the BIOS.
If that's not enough, and I read that you already have a clean reinstall the latest drivers, I would say that contact local ASP, as a beep sounds are not normal.

They can tell you what mean these sounds.

  • Inspiron 9400/E1705 - lines vertical and the seeds, and then black screen on startup of the computer

I have an Inspiron 9400/E1705 with a nVidia Geforce Go 7900 GS. A few months as the computer started showing the seeds while I was game (textures does not, massive downturn, etc.) and then finally horizontal began to appear on the screen, from start-up. I was unable to get into Windows with the exception of Safe Mode. I thought that the problem was the graphics card, and some users on this forum have confirmed this suspicion. Although in May 2007, when I was still under warranty, I got the card replaced, I don't was more under warranty at the time so I started shopping around for a replacement.

Before that I bought a replacement, however, the computer just stopped starting upwards. Previously, at least I could get Safe Mode and check my e-mail or Word process; now the screen stays empty (the LCD and an external monitor) and seems not even to try to start. The power and it occupied lights turn green, however, and remain like that until I turn off the power. I tried to boot with a RAM chip, thanks to the optical drive removed, with the hard drive, removed, and combinations of these, just to see if anything would change (anything).

My question is if this can also be a symptom of the graphics card does not, or I have a bigger problem on my hands?

    Thank you.

Edit: I forgot to mention that I ran the diagnosis before the white screen began to arrive, and only errors have been associated with the video.  I can't run any diagnostic now, though, to see if there are new mistakes, which is why I want to confirm a dead card can do that until I get a new.

  • Satellite C660D 15F - black screen after startup

    Satellite C660D 15F

    Hi guys,.

I have a big problem with my laptop. When I started to-go from sleep - two days ago I heard the computer starts normally but the screen remains black. No mater how many times I tried to restart, the screen shows nothing, no message no picture. The normal operation of the side light remains on but the keyboard lights stay offshore. I can hear the computer normally (the fan etc..).

I tried to hit SHIFT F8 start buttom on the first night, and the image was on the first attempt when I started the machine and everything seemed normal again! The next few days, I got a black screen once more and the case never worked again, no matter how many times I tried.

Can someone help me please get out of this mess? Has anyone had a similar problem? How do solve you?

My machine is now exactly four years.

Thank you very much for your ideas! I really need to access some files on there!

    Hello

Disconnect the power and remove the battery. After doing this press the power for 30 seconds about and try to reset your machine. Leave it for a while and try to start with power current only.

  • Satellite A305-S6898 - half black screen at startup

I bought this laptop in early March and had to return to store due to a problem at startup when half of the screen would be black on the Windows login screen. They ordered me a new I got about 3 weeks ago and I used it for about a week before I had the same problem of a half black screen on startup.

Now he has been running really slow and there is a time, I've had it freeze on me and my screen turn into a bunch of colored lines.
I had to reboot in safe mode and run a virus scan just to make sure it wasn't my problem.

I do not download anything on this computer other than basic messengers and photo editing programs.
I have a HP MP7170N desktop computer which I use to download everything that seems to work faster than the laptop and I use photo, download torrents programs and store most of my pictures and music on this one and it has only 1 GB of memory compared to this the 4 GB.

    What is the problem?
Anyone have any ideas as to what I can do.
I can't really go back to the shop because they give only a grace period of 14 days for returns.

    > I had the same problem of a half black screen on startup.
    > Now he has been running really slow and there is a time, I've had it freeze on me and my screen turn into a bunch of colored lines.

Doesn't look good for me it sounds a bit like graphic problem.
Before contacting a professional Toshiba authorized service provider would be, it would be interesting to know if you have seen improvements after recovery procedure and BIOS updated.
I think you n t get a recovery disk because you can create it using the verification of software preinstalled Toshiba manual how to create the recovery disk

If, after installing new check usability of portable and so similar issues still persists.
If nothing will change it s is strongly recommended to communicate with an ASP.

  • Black screen on startup Satellite A80

I get a black screen at startup what is the problem and what is the solution for it? It might have something to do with the cold?

    Hi poly

Please put more details on the problem, because it s not easy to say what has happened without any detailed information. You hear the operation of the HARD disk or fans?
Switch you to other devices to display, before this problem occurs?
Unfortunately it FN + F5 key combination doesn't work if the operating system has started so it could be a malfunction of the equipment. I don t think you can solve this problem by yourself. In this case, the only way is to contact the service.

  • Satellite A100 - black screen on startup

For two days my laptop Toshiba A100-495 / model-No. PSAA9E-18F047GR / Y6065357Q with Windows XP SP3 serial shows a black screen at startup. There is still no picture Windows startup.

The laptop is all starting, but after finishing and be ready for use, the screen is always black. When I am pressing Fn + F5 keys, the desktop appears.

The black screen is only starting cold after stopping, not awareness of standby or pause.

    > When I am pressing Fn + F5 keys, the desktop appears

It seems that the display output is set to external monitor
You see the Toshiba start screen if the laptop is connected to the external monitor?
    Check it!

In addition, I am agree with Akuma BIOS should be the default value.
To access the BIOS F2 press while turning on the laptop. I hope that you can do this then press F9 for default settings and then exit the BIOS save settings.
