BlackBerry OS future

Hi all

I'm a leader of a team of mobile development, and currently, we have a lot of Blackberry development, but not yet BB Tablet OS.

I would like to understand the position of the RIM on the future of RIM OS 4.x. 5.0, 6.0 and Tablet OS. RIM will target completely all future devices to Tablet OS or the future is still called RIM OS?

It would be great to learn these plans based on the exercises. Should we rely on the current RIM OS to say 1, 2, 3, etc. years.

I think all the leaders of a mobile team would understand my concerns. I understand that RIM must move to more modern platforms, so I need to learn and to align our business strategy accordingly. What neither wants to have is a situation like have developers Nokia: Symbian, Maemo, WinPhone7? Everyone extends the existing team of Symbian? If someone plan new product development for Symbian or Maemo?

Thank you!

Understandable, it's just remember this is a community forum, so it is unlikely to find someone of RIM to answer your question. As the Tablet OS has mentioned that it will get finally phones but no date or time has been granted.

Based on various rumors, leaks, etc.

6.1 the OS will be released roughly around the time of the PlayBook (so I think they'll announce phones for her BlackBerry World Conference in May).

RIM said it would be a major OS, it seems to be a stop gap because an another 'leak' a OS7 (which is supposed to be [AKA Tablet OS] QNX based) come around early December 2011.

The QNX operating system has BlackBerry Java supports, so I wouldn't worry made apps now does not not on phones later but I also expect that they will have a new Java API or updates for the QNX OS.

  • BlackBerry smartphones a few suggestions for future releases blackberry OS

    Hello

I hope that it reaches the right developers. I just had some suggestions for the future blackberry phone software (OS).

It should be an option to use the memory card to save data such as messages, e-mail, telephone directory, applications etc. This would prevent the messages are automatically deleted. At least the user should be warned etc. messages are deleted instead of remove them automatically!

Blackberry desktop software should also be able to back up third-party software.

There should be an option by which we can password protect applications/inbox/etc. individual according to our prefrance rather than to have just a password to lock the entire phone. In this way we can let someone use our phone, playing games, but do not have access to private data or personal information.

In the address book, we should be able to create a custome as Mobile 2, Home 3, etc. These days have several mobile phones, and it's boring store the secondary number in the pager, or other category. It is a basic solution and I am surprised blackberry doesn't have this option.

BlackBerry should also support youtube and also reording video.

Another feature that I suggest is related to the contact filter option. At present, we can select only a single filter to contact both. Now, it would be great if we have a mechanism by which we can select several filters in this way:

If I want to select all the people that are in the filter of the USA and who work for company X, I can choose the filter "and" in which the two categories are adapted (2 or more categories).

If I want to select people who are either in the United States or work for company X (I choose the filter 'or' for this).

You can have a function special directory where we choose to display only the phone numbers frequently and can put all the numbers that we use that often in a master directory. It would be convenient to so many people!

When sending SMS to multiple people, please select each individually. It would be nice if we could quickly select using checkmarks next to the person as a whole rather than separately.

We should be able to add the email as 'spam' of the handheld is.

We include a reminder of birthday for contacts, which is separate from the calendar option.

There is no weather app that comes with the blackberry! This a must and should be included.

Better and more realistic, as the navigation in the iphone. Web sites display in a way very non-eco-friendly and most of the pages are not available easily.

We should have a shortcut button to compose text messages just as we can press 'c' as quick make up for email.

These are just some thoughts I had on the way to improve the phone. Of course, applications are somewhat biased based on my needs but I really hope that some key developers fall on this post and implement these ideas in future versions of blackberry OS.

    Kind regards

    Ishan.

Good ideas. You must submit to [email protected].

  • BlackBerry smartphones I synced my calendar and now I have two appts for all future dates! Help!

I used this blackberry without the data plan, and this is the first time that I jived with my computer since the development of the data plan.  Now, I got two of all future appts.  Someone at - it thoughts or ideas on how I missed this?

    Welcome to the JodeeS forums

I don't see why this has happened: as you do not use a data plan, the calendar was not associated with an e-mail account on the phone. When you have added a data plan, it has created a new timetable for the e-mail account and you now 2 sets of appointments. Don't worry, it can be fixed pretty easily.

    1. make a backup of the data on the phone and schedule by using Desktop Manager (just in case)

    2. go into the Desktop Manager > Backup and Restore > advanced

    3. in the right window, all of the databases on your phone is required. Select the calendar and click on "Cancel". This erases all calendar entries so that you can return to synchronize again.

4 synchronize the calendar now... If all goes well, you should have your calendar to return.

Note: I suppose you use Outlook for your correct calendar?

  • BlackBerry future Blackberry Smartphones for users of the retail

I myself remember a Blackberry around mid-2012 ad that said basically the company could focus on corporate customers and not the retail market.  Have recently considered switching to the BB 9930 to an Android phone, I prefer staying with BB and wait for BB 10 in a few months.  Now, I understand that Verizon no longer selling Blackberry phones, so I'll be stuck buying it elsewhere (full price instead of delivery of Verizon).

If a small guy like me not even consider staying with BB?

    I called that one!

Sales in stores are not reliable sources for anything whatsoever.   One of them even told me that RIM was bankrupt and that it would not include the BBM in BB10.  The two statements are completely false.

  • Out with the old blackBerry Smartphones, turned to the future.

So I recently expressed interest semi drooling over a "BOLD" of customers, and they looked like, you want my old one, so on that day, I entered the a 8700 Chantal.

And I love it. Wow. The moment I got my hands on one of these bad boys, life changing I can't wait to get a "BOLD". Wow they are so awesome.

in any case, if the phone is saturated from the previous addresses of owners and contacts and text messages.

I have downloaded the software ABC Berry beautiful, made a backup of the blackberry, flat, backup, exported all the old owners info and emailed them to him.

So I jumped my sim in my W810i, found the copy all contacts to sim card option, did.

Took my sim card, threw my w810i in the trash can and popped the SIM in the blackberry. (I'm kidding I gave the phone to a friend)

So now, I have a blackberry that is nicely backed up and a sim card with all my contacts.

How to do a master reset/clean slate/lobotomy to the blackberry and then load all contacts on the sim card.

I have to be delayed, cause, this shouldn't be so hard, but can't find the charge or reset options anywhere.

Thanks for any help. see you soon

OK, then the wheel button in the address book, phone book sim, wheel button copy all.

    Wooo wooo wooo.

  • BlackBerry BlackBerry Storm Smartphones - 4G in the future?

    Hi all

I've been a BlackBerry user for over 2 years now.

I upgraded my Storm for the Storm2 for WiFi and the command buttons tight.

I'm ready for an exchange of phone/upgrade with Verizon Wireless and I would like to know if Research in Motion/BlackBerry will present a storm (3) like a Smartphone 4gG?

    Anyone know?

    Thank you!

    Clarke

    Hello

At this point, we don't know anything for some, but if I had to guess based on the recent announcement of Bold 9900/9930, I would expect that any new any touchscreen BlackBerry would probably offer HSPA + compatibility and/or 1XEV compatibility. But I don't think even as a LTE compatible phone (which will probably come in another year, once some of the kinks were developed and once the life of the battery on the LTE network has been improved).

As an another heads-up, do not expect to see it called a Storm3. Based on my experience in the BlackBerry World, it seems that the name storm may now do.

  • Suggestions of blackBerry Smartphones for the future updates for the priv

    Hello

I have a suggestion about the lock screen:

I'm used to hitting the lock button to check the time on my other android phones.

I love my PRIVATE but only annoying thing is when I push the release button, I see only a field of patteren of unlocking, but not the clock. It's REALLY annoying to press the arrow to the left to be able to see the clock.

Could you please merge the screen unlock patterns with the clock and date?

It would be awesome to be able to pull down on the clock and see notifications. I love acess quick buttons for the camera and the microphone, please keep on this screen too.

    Thank you!

    Hi @nastyna

Go to settings > display, tap the screen wakes up toand place it to the lock screen notifications

Let me know if it helps

    Hello

None of the volunteers here can speak for BB as to what they will be or will not happen in the future. But you are correct in your observation that the setting 'reply to' does not exist in the configuration of e-mail BB10 screens.
