BlackBerry Smartphones BB Protect: what can fail?

My bb was stolen.  I was able to activate BB Protect before and I ordered it to wipe.  Is there something that the thief can do to derail the command?

Berrier says:

given the unit can was deleted, reinstalled the operating system, has obtained the new card/new sim number and used by someone out there)

If none of these actions took place you indicated, your message via Protect or wipe will not work.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones Content Protection enabled

I chose to use this feature and went through the procedure in the Councils of BB. He said "initially, it can take some time."

It's three days now with the BB closed the night for at least 8 hours each night. I have 1.8 GB on press card.

    What is a normal period?

    Thanks in advance.

First of all, if protection is all that worry you, then set a password on the device.  If you are really interested, set the timeout for a minute or two at the most.  Unless you filed - not your email - FILES on a SD card, encryption does nothing but slow the device down - but you know that already.  If you lose your device and it is locked, enter the wrong password 10 times (you can set less than attempts), the BlackBerry will erase all data on it and get back to its factory settings.  This may NOT, however, all the data on your SD card.

In addition, the encryption key is generated and available only on your BlackBerry.  You cannot open a file on your SD card with your computer.  The key is generated when you enable encryption.  If your device fails or wiped clean, the key went forever - and so is EVERYTHING on your SD card.  It is still there, but nothing can decipher it.  If this is the kind of security you really need, then be my guest.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones Media Card: What would my settings?

I'm afraid I might have changed the setting 'factory' by accident.  Can someone tell me what they should be?

Under the Support of the map, it has options such as the cipher Mode, mass storage Mode support... How should it be defined? Thank you.

I recommend that you set the mass storage Support Yes

It will allow you to access your blackberry when connected via USB as a usb flash drive.

If you set the encryption mode WE will encrypt all the files on your memory card.

If you don't store confidential data on micro-sd card - disable encryption.

  • BlackBerry smartphones oh no what do I do?

New to the BB world - so far love it!  I bought the 8310 a month ago.  Finally got the nerve to update sync with my office to get all my contact details of customers in the phone (I'm not very good with new technologies, so I asked a colleague to help implement-, they do).  No problems.  Got all the information in the phone and life was good until the end of last week.  I went into the office for a few hours.  First thing I did was sync my phone to get some new contact in info.  I wasn't paying attention at first (now that I have synced it many times), but I remember by clicking on 'OK or Yes' on a pop-up that I said something about the reconciliation of my email?  Since then, I get thousands, YES thousands of emails to update the network throughout the day.  This morning I went in the office and had 2660 new emails from network update on my desk.  I did a little research on the web and found this forum.  Quickly, I found my problem - I need to go into the Options - Advanced - service book - then delete Desktop [CICAL] and Desktop [CMIME].  Just like that email has stopped, but now I can't access my calendar - the info is there but when I click on it it does not open it?  I have remove the Blackberry Desktop Manager and tried to go through all the steps again, but as soon as I finished the pesky emails started?  Not sure what's more annoying emails or the possibility of do not enter my calendar.  I play with my phone now in the hope that I will receive emails from network but my luck nothing.  So, my questions.  How to stop email and allow me to enter my calendar.  Another thing I've noticed in the past 2 days it is when I add a new item to my calendar, I can't invite participants.  Assuming that these questions are related together some how.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I think I might need to clear all the phone but hate having to do this cause, I have a TON of stuff about what I don't want to put it all back manually.  Another thing I did before leaving the office tonight is back it up to my office.  If I don't delete it simply restore the backup file for the phone - could be that easy?  I'm sorry for the beginner questions starting dumb - I did some searching but not finding my answers--would be delighted if someone could point me in the right direction and or come to my house and help me - my wife is one heck of a Cook!  Thanks for your time.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones that know what to do

I went on the website of blackberry because I received a text message to update my phone software. The web site, I've been giving has been http://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/devices/ . After that I went on the site, I clicked on the button update now to get the update to v4.5 software. If I remember correctly, I got 11 of the 12 steps before that something was wrong. The phone and the computer both seemed completely stop doing nothing at all. I finished by ending the process before it ended. He told me that my phone has been saved on my pc and I could download the files from here. My phone has been whipped clean of all the files and applications that I had. I'm not able to open the file saved on my computer. Please help me to recover what was lost.

To restore your backup files, you must use the backup and restore in the Desktop Manager. Click on restore and browse to the backup file and go through the wizard. That should restore all your settings on the phone. For applications, you will need to go to the temporary folder on your computer (I think it should be there) and find a folder with the name that is the same as your PIN code. Located here in Win XP: C:\Documents andSettings\Temp Settings\

If you find this file, then open Desktop Manager to the top and go to Application Loader > Add/Remove Applications. Here, you can navigate to the folder that you found and select the files .alx file. This should load your applications stored on the phone. In the case where you do not find the folder, search for files .alx files on your computer.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones Please help - I can't hear anything...

Dropped the phone, which is normally fine.  Now I can't hear anything and it is not a sound when a text arrives - but people can hear me when I call.

I've heard that I can reinstall the software to see if it works?  How to do this, or other ideas?

Thank you for your help.  I miss my phone!

    Hello

The following help to reload the software, but if its broken internally, it will not provide the solution.

What I was doing to completely wipe my BB. I wrote this before and it printed.

If your device does not work, perform a backup now if you have not already done save the file to a place and a name that you can easily locate it on computer.

I then uninstalled DTM and then deleted all the other references to BB/Rim in Windows Explorer, thus eliminating the operating system for the BB to the computer in order to ensure that the version I want to reinstall a new version uploaded.

Get the latest Desk Top software DTS)
    http://us.BlackBerry.com/apps-software/desktop/?CPID=OTC-DSKTPSW&CP=OTC-DSKTPSW

and install it on the computer.

Get the latest version of the operating system

    http://us.BlackBerry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp

    and save it on computer.

If the PC does not recognize the BB, you connect via the USB cable. Then remove the battery from the BB.
With the battery pulled, connect the BlackBerry to the USB connector, and as SOON as you see USB - PIN: UNKNOWN, click Next. You must be quick. From there, you can put the battery in (make sure that you install the battery or else when completed the update of the OS and the device disconnects from the computer to restart, it will lose the power supplied by the USB connection and you will get an error and have to start all over again!).

If you don't get it right the first time, try again (debrancher unplug the USB, remove battery, connect and click next while USB - PIN: unknown shows). You must be quick and the timing is key, so it may take you three or four attempts.

To erase all data on your BlackBerry device, follow these steps.

    (1) download JL_Cmder http://www.4shared.com/get/oqP9V-2Q/JL_Cmder_v19.html

    (2) install JL_Cmder to the computer.

    (3) double check you have already saved the BB. If you DO NOT, you will lose all data.

    (4) make sure that DTS is closed and plug in the BB to the computer via USB

    (5) to reach the JL_Cmder on your computer and double-click it to start. Now, it may take a few tries to connect, so persevering until he does.

    (6) on the first screen, press a key to continue.

    (7) now, if your device uses a password, enter it now. If not, press "N".

    8) press 4 to start CLEANING

    (9) press on 'Y' to continue

    (10) now type "blackberry" to continue

    (11) on the BB, you see a white screen with an error "507". Don't worry, that's what you want! You are now ready to install the operating system.

Launch the new Desk Top software on the computer

    (1) on the homescreen of the BlackBerry® Desktop Software, click Device > update my device.

    (2) click on view the other Versions. Click the version of the new OS you previously downloaded.

    (3) click on install. The DTM will install the OS and then provide you with a list of applications to install. If you have had problems with an application, do not install it.

Do not disconnect the device until the whole process is finished and restarted the device.

After 10 minutes, restart again by removing the battery slot while tension and leave for a few minutes.

Leave it again for 10 minutes. You should now have a fully functional BB!
