Hello

For your information, there is not a telco in Malaysia BB 9550 support. So, you can change to another model or simply use the BB as a basic phone. As confirmed by Verizon, BB9550 is supported only in the United States alone.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones use Storm 2 as PDA WiFi-Connected (without telephone service)?

    RESOLVED:
See the second post in this thread for the solution (thanks to wiggler forum member)

    ORIGINAL MESSAGE:

[I know I am a "retarded" for even bringing this place, but we'll just go beyond the part and talk about what I really want to know here ]

My wife and I went to an Android (Bionic) for me and an iPhone (4 s) for her. However, his old phone (Storm 2) has recently been replaced because his former 1 storm went wrong on her... and now, since my father thought finally get something to replace his old (not to mention, broken and unusable) Palm device, we thought we might as well give him the Storm 2 and see if it'll work out for what he wants.

Here's the deal about my father and his PDA... already has a cell phone, so he won't move up to a smart phone, because he does not want to pay the extra money every month just to get a PDA phone when he probably never really use the data service much and all that.

He wants a phone just to be a phone, and he also wants a PDA... just for the PDA part.

So, I thought, very well... If he is not willing to move completely in the modern era, then we can at least give him something he can synchronize with Outlook (it works... I already tried) to have its calendar and contacts with him all the time (which it is not able to do with his simple mobile).

So what I know is that it's possible, at least in a very limited sense... I have the Storm 2 sync with Outlook.
However, here's my problem... for a reason, even if the wifi card appears to connect to the wifi here in their home access point, it is not actually get an IP address and can't get out on the internet with the browser integrated into all.

    My question is this...
Is it because it is not possible (i.e. RIM has configured to disable the card wifi within the unit while there is no mobile phone service connected), or who should run, and I should watch more in the sense of something wrong at the level of the home network?

The reason why I think that it could be something awkward like that within the device itself, it is my new Android and iPhone of the wife are able to connect to the network wireless home here very well.

Sorry for such a long thing, goofy needs help, but I thought it is a good starting point. If anyone has ideas and is willing to help, please chime.

p.s. I am a computer scientist. So I have that aspect covered... at least you do not work with a complete * beep * if you jump here.

I thought about it. I did a search on google for the specific message I saw in 'wi - fi tools' (which was "no longer valid"ip address ") and found this thread...
    http://supportforums.BlackBerry.com/T5/other-BlackBerry-smartphones/IP-address-no-longer-valid/TD-p/...

The second post there (from wiggler), gave me the fix I need.
    Thank you!  :-)

  • BlackBerry smartphone how to use my Verizon Storm 9530 with my laptop to connect to Internet?

I have a Verizon Storm 9530 and subscribe to the $30 data plan that allows me to connect to the Internet from the device.  I also read that the device can also be used as a modem with a laptop to connect to Internet.  I don't understand this.  How does this work?  Is the work of mobile phone as a dial-up modem?  Or just connect my ISP (Time Warner Cable)?  I use a connection broadband at home, but it does not help when I am away from my home.

Can someone please explain how to use the 9530 with my Dell Notebook PC to connect to the Internet?

    How does it work?

    What hardware do I need?

    What software do I need?

How do I put in place?

Do I need to purchase any additional VZN service?

    Do I need VZ access?

Please explain in detail.  Thank you.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones 1 storm on 10 we got has all standard applications - how to?

Our small company has obtained 10 storms - but one of them (mine!) had no installs it standard app - like the docstogo and GPS app.  What is the way the most "effective" to get installed them on my BB?  (And I got the display-it didn't hide that I am not - they do not appear in the Options - Advanced - Applications applications either)

I advanced and got kit/whatever from the link below, and I do a revised installation.  How this has happened, I don't know but I don't know that it will be fixed after a reboot...

  • BlackBerry Smartphones BB Storm OS

Hi all. I was wondering, I recently got a storm, and out of the box OS was v4.7.0.75. I was wondering, is there a newer version? One that will perhaps reduce the lag I have experience here and there? Thank you for your future responses.

The version you have is the most recent/latest 'official' version of Verizon.  There are a multitude of other versions out there, but with a Verizon phone - nothing else that de.75 is not supported at this time

For many versions of OS that are currently out there, it is also about the same number of threads on these maps, discuss the pros and cons of all the versions.  I would suggest a search fast to familiarize yourself with what is available and if you feel particularly comfortable using a non official OS on your phone.

  • BlackBerry smartphones 'Advanced settings' missing! (Verizon Wireless)

The "Advanced settings" option in BIS is missing... I don't know if there is a problem with just Verizon or what? It is absent from the version of regular desktop browser and mobile version. Verizon didn't know what was happening and referred me to BlackBerry.

Note: I have the $29.99 "Email and Web for BlackBerry."

    Thanks for the help!

I deleted my email account and new reset and now the 'Advanced Options' is there once again. I don't know why they disappeared in the first place, but oh well.

Connect the Blackberry to your PC and do not start the Desktop Manager.

On the PC, run Windows Update. The Blackberry will be recognized as a new device and the correct drivers

Press Menu > wipe Handheld and follow the instructions from there.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones support Storm battery

My question is how many times you charge the battery of the storm? I know the lithium battery has no memory, and there is no need to drain until it is completely dead. 2 bars, or 1 bar? Common sense? My concern on prior batteries, it usually inflates upward when it is fresh too.

I have me load every night, even when he didn't need it.  Like that, it's always good to go the next day.  Also, I have the Dock of synchronization for the storm and use my storm as a secondary clock when connected (in the case where there is never a power failure).
