BlackBerry Smartphones BlackBerry Messenger message virus string?

I just received a message from a couple of contacts via BBM who claims to be a message from RIM saying that the BBM servers are full, and if users do not send the message to all of their contacts on BBM then RIM will assume that they are inactive users their BlackBerry Internet Service will be disabled.

The message text is blue and had a link to the end 'www.blackberry.com/inactiveusers' which does not exist.

Surly this is a virus? I have deleted the message and have not sent.

Anyone else had this message? Is this a virus or is it authentic?

Thank you.

Lol it is not a virus. And it is not authentic. It is rather a separator. It identifies your contacts list people who are stupid enough to not not to spot a hoax, even if she literally screams the word.

"Hey, we're the rim. "Our servers are so damned overloaded with messages from BB we would like EVERYONE to send messages even more... Please:

You get the point?

I wonder if Blackberry Messenger Messages are saved in the phone or the SIM card somehow?

    Welcome to the forums.

No, they are not saved anywhere.  If you want to record a conversation, you can (while IN the convo), click the wheel/Menu button and click Copy history.  Then, you will also need to paste it somewhere (like an e-mail or a note of memo pad).

  • BlackBerry Messenger message

    Hello

I want to do something like the browser app where when there's a new BB Messenger message, something appears on the title bar of my application.

How do I listen to an event of BB Messenger? I see in the OS 4.2.1 API, you can do BlackBerryMessenger.registerServer (), but it is not very clear how to build a service.

Someone knows or can provide a quick snippet on how to register a listener for BB Messenger?

    Thank you.

The BlackBerry Messenger API support all incoming messages, only those for a session recorded by listening application.  For an example, take a look at the tictactoedemo provided with the BlackBerry JDE.

  • Recovery of the BB Messenger messages

    Hello

First of all, I'm new to BlackBerry, I might be using the wrong terminology or overlooking the existing features.

I am interested in the following Scenario: the user is an application that automatically accepts an invitation from user B (or C, D, etc.) to become a BlackBerry Messenger contact, add user B to BBM contacts list, accept a request of session of user B and transfers user B BBM messages to an e-mail address. Incoming messages may have attachments that are sent to e-mail as well. The application is installed on the device to the user. No intervention is required by the user, apart from the installation of the application.

For the most part, I would like to automate the process of adding user as a contact in BBM and bring texts and files to send to the user via BBM available for treatment outside the device (by sending an e-mail to it off the camera).

1 can add contacts BBM through the API? I don't see a way to do it using the class BlackBerryMessenger http://www.blackberry.com/developers/docs/6.0.0api/net/rim/blackberry/api/blackberrymessenger/packag...
This thread has said no, but he could not apply to the latest version of the OS: http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Java-Development/How-to-add-a-list-of-users-to-Blackberry-Mes...

2 can BBM contacts deleted via the API? According to this thread, not: http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Java-Development/BBM-APIs/m-p/579866

    3. If user B sends a user has a file, not a distinction between a text message and a file using net.rim.blackberry.api.blackberrymessenger.Message.getContentType ()? The data file is available in the same way as the content of a text message?

    4. what happens if user C (or D, etc.) wants to start a session while the user is in a session with user B?

    5. how the application on the device of the user listen to incoming BBM messages? If I understand correctly the following threads, we can do only if the application is installed on all devices, and then create a BBM session between devices and BBM messages to the application. The application cannot access the messages that are sent to BBM. Is this correct?

    http://supportforums.BlackBerry.com/T5/Java-development/PIN-message-API/m-p/139875

If Yes to the #5, then could one use synchronization and desktop API to get the unit off BBM messages? Messages must be analyzable on the side of the office, that is, not deliberately obscure not intentionally or not. Is there an easy way to retrieve messages BBM?

If Yes to #5 and abandon the idea completely, BBM who goes against what I'm trying to do, I guess by PIN or e-mail messaging would be the way to go (via FolderListener, FolderEvent).

Any idea would be appreciated. Thank you.

    Hi netbek,

    Welcome to the forums!

Currently, there is no API available to tie into BlackBerry Messenger. The next piece of Tracker problem was noted that explains more in detail (you can connect using the credentials of the Developer Zone):

    https://www.BlackBerry.com/jira/browse/JAVAAPI-1231

Once the new API is released there should be documentation that comes with it to explain what is possible. There is no timeline, but for when this may get rejected.

    Kind regards

  • Message from Smartphones blackBerry of RIM for the owners of Blackberry messenger

I received a forwarded BBM message to a couple of my friends today saying this:

Hello, greetings from RIM (Research In Motion) BlackBerry owners. This message is to inform all of our users, our servers have been recently really full, so we ask for your help to solve this problem. We need our active users to re - send this message to everyone on your list of contacts in a way to confirm our active users who use BlackBerry Messenger, if you do not send this message to all your BlackBerry Messenger contacts, then your account will remain inactive with result in losing all of your contacts.

We apologize for the inconvenience, but this is the only possible way to solve this problem. Sincerely from Research in Motion. For more information visit:

Is there any truth to this? I checked the link to Blackberry and got a message saying that the page was not found.

My favorite is the technical term that they use "very comprehensive."

    It is indeed a hoax.

A hoax message circulating on BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) asks users to message BBM to their contacts in order to maintain the BBM service and claims to have been sent originally by Research In Motion (RIM).

Be assured that this BBM message did not come from the RIM and that it does not affect the security of BlackBerry smartphones. It is simply a string of hoax message. Unfortunately, many social networking applications in the face of this scenario, according to which no message, including a hoax message, can be transmitted to a user of one of their contacts. We recommend that users simply ignore the message and do not convey.

  • Smartphones blackBerry - sent Messages BB Messenger still exist in the text field

    Hello.

Question: After typing and sending a message to a contact through Blackberry Messenger, the message persists in the area in which the text of the message is such that if I press back, I can continue to send the message repeatedly. I'm only able to clear the text of the message sent by pressing the ESC key.

    Notes:

    1. There is a software that my company has here (Legato) who normally archives these messages by e-mail a copy of any change via the Exchange Server.
    2. I don't have this problem until I upgraded the messenger application of which version is on the o/s by default.

This happens with any contact on my list. Anyone have any ideas on how to solve this problem?

    Blackberry: 8900

    O/s: v4.6.1.94 (Platform 4.2.0.69)

    Version of messenger: 5.0.0.33

OK, so my problem has went.

I'll tell you what I did, but I'm sure that the solution is really just in the last two steps:

    (1) I reinstalled BBM.

    (2) I pulled the battery, let it reset.

    (3) I worked with absolutely no change in functionality (always the question persistent text) for a few days.

    (4) I deleted the contact who had also "upgraded" just before all this happen has begun.

    (5) I pulled the battery, let it reset.

    (6) when I rebooted, Blackberry Messenger had entirely disappeared.

    (7) I reinstalled BBM (note - new version is now on AppWorld - 5.0.0.56).

    (8) I pulled on the dough, let it reset.

    No problem.

  • BlackBerry Messenger Blackberry Smartphones - are encrypted messages?

    Hello

I was wondering if the messages I send to another contact with Blackberry messenger are encrypted or not? I was looking for this online and all I could find is that the blackberry Messenger is a wrapper of BB-PIN messaging. PIN messages are supposed to is not encrypted from what I could find online - which would mean that BBM messages are not too... I'm just guessing?

    Thank you

Yes, BlackBerry Messenger is encrypted from end to end, because it uses the PIN messaging as its transport.

All traffic is exclusively on the RIM infrastructure and it never leaves.
All BlackBerry devices share a common encryption key that is used for this purpose.

  • BlackBerry smartphones erase the 'New Messages' icon for Blackberry Messenger

My Blackberry is configured to use Enterprise and our company does not allow access to BlackBerry Messenger (saying it is blocked by the company policy message if I try to run it). It's all right, I didn't want to hack the system, however, it seems that someone tried to send me a few messages using what I have an icon on the screen before showing 7 pending messages.

Is there a way I can delete these, or disable the icon, without being able to access the Messenger? I keep thinking that I have new messages or text messages in waiting!

    See you soon

OK, so if you are doing a new installation (use your browser to go to www.blackberry.com/messenger) and install the application again, it now appears under modules, and THEN you can click to uninstall it.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones BB Messenger disappeared

I tried the update Blackberyy Messenger by downloading and installing a later version on being invited by the Blackberry World. Later, I realized that BB Messenger is gone off my phone, but App World it says it is installed. I tried to remove and reinstall and it won't allow me. Help, please.

    Hi TroymanMartin

Welcome to the Forums of the BlackBerry Support

First try a battery pull restarts, if it is still impossible to locate and remember it's not hidden, to check that the screen is in the Panel Home screen ALL > press the Menu key and select "Show all icons" or icon to display "." It will show all of the icons that were previously hidden. If you see BlackBerry Messenger icon like grayed then highlight it and press the Menu key and select the icon to display, also search your folders as the Application of Instant Messaging folder, etc..

If it is still impossible, then try reinstalling the BBM, but first on your homescreen go to Options > device > application management > locate and delete BlackBerry Messenger from this list.

KB10040  : How to display or remove installed application on a blackberry smartphone

Once it is perform a battery pull reboot by removing the battery while your unit is powered, wait a min, then reinsert back.

Finally, after the reboot, use your BlackBerry browser and go to www.blackberry.com/bbmdownload for download the latest available for your device.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones Blackberry Messenger works do not!

My blackberry Messenger is not working...

I have the bold 9780. Today it stopped working... Ive talked to my provider and they say all right, my signal is fine... I can send and receive texts and people receive them but if I send a message from bb, so that it has a check mark next to it but not delivered... D still I will not receive messages from bb for 3/4 a bit and then come at once but mine don't always delivered.

My bb Messenger is up-to-date and therefore my system that I've updated all day

    Help, please

    Thank you

Hello and welcome to the community!

I suggest the following, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2, each should result in a message to your BB to come...) Please wait for this before moving on to the next step):

    (1) registry HRT

    • KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with wireless network

    (2) Service reference books

    • KB02830 Send the directories for the BlackBerry Internet Service

    (3) restart to take batt

    • Each time a random strange behavior or slow creeps, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the hood back and remove the battery. Wait a minute, then replace the battery and cover. Power on and wait patiently through the long reboot - about 5 minutes. See if things return to functioning. Like all computing devices, BB suffers from memory leaks and others... with a hard reboot is the best remedy.

I hope that will move things again for you! If not, then you must go back and see your provider... they are 100% responsible for the delivery of all services and support for you and you are now paying them for a service they are not a. If they can't fix it, they have the ability to climb it in RIM... you have no free path to obtain support from RIM otherwise than by escalation of your provider. It is a pity they you already brushed off like this, you may have to insist a little with them. You pay their money... they need to offer a service to you.

    Good luck!
