BlackBerry Smartphones BlackBerry Storm problem

HI all, I have the Blackberry storm and I'm having a lot of problems with it. An im problem is that sometimes the keyboard will not be displayed, and now when I try to play one of the games it shows at halfway.

I think that the BlackBerry 9530. I don't know if I have the latest version of the software BB storm.

Hi and welcome to the forums!

Try this:

On the storm, go to options / advanced options.

Highlight (do not click on) the game application.

Press menu, and if the compatibility mode is enabled, select Disable.

Save the option. Then do a battery pull.

No data will be lost when you do the following: remove the battery while the device is activated. Remplacer replace after one minute, let the device reboot 1-3 min, see if the problem is corrected.
Thank you

Bifocals

For your software version, go to options, about, that version will look like 4.7.0.xx

I got my storm blackberry since the date of launch (Nov 08) and I'm not impressed by it, I have suffered long enough with the variable rear light, the front burst spongy that always seems to activate the line above or below the selected one, by pressing a selection active always, (I can throw it in the sea and get a new a (joke) well that's what I feel about that) , seriously however, can I sent for inspection and possible revision or even a replacement?

    > What's closest to the storm that has a tube instead of use the fingers (guess mine are in thick for touch phones)?

    Best wishes to all.

Verizon has pretty decent customer service.  If you can call them and convince them that there is a problem on your phone, which is not a problem of standard for other phones of the storm, then they should be willing to offer you a replacement refurbished for your phone, because it is still under warranty 1 year then.

If however you don't just not like the user interface, and that your problems are just the same as the storm of all users are facing in, then it may be difficult to convince them that your device is a defective device.

If you throw in the water and have purchased insurance, so you can get a refurbished replacement, however, they charge you $50 deductible.

  • S of Smartphones Conncection blackBerry Desktop Manager and Blackberry Storm problems

Hi, Newbie question!  My storm will not connect to the Blackberry Desktop Manager (although once the reinstallation of the desktop) on my low-end pc screen to the right icon indicates the gray phone and says offline - Desktop Manager.

In the Desktop Manager I activated the USB - (the PIN code is correct) but that the setting must be activated whenever I open the Desktop Manager.

I have run the office and then place the storm in the cradle.  Windows recognizes that the device has been connected.  The storm screen becomes white and connect to the office... messages and there it remains stuck.  The only way I can get the storm to work again is to ride the battery pull (thanks for the tip, BTW).  Is there something that I should activate first on the storm?  The storm is for personal use only and is not connected with any company/server, etc.  Suggestions or a fix would be welcome.

Hi, thanks for this! I found a different solution on another forum that worked. It's OK for my Windows XP SP3 but I don't know if it will work with Vista.

    1. Download the latest BB Desktop software for your region/carrier and save to the desktop.
    2. Right click on the exe file.
    3. New box appears: right click on "Run As"... "then left click on 'run '.
    4. New dialog box is displayed.  Hold the current user radio button, but uncheck "protect my computer and data from unauthorized program activity.
    5. Install the software following all the usal prompts that may appear.

I then stopped the automatic start of programs for the Office Manager, so it does not raise upward when the pc is turned on.

Now, I first connect the BB Storm to the pc and then manually start Desktop Manager: office and the BB Storm now connect to another.  Works for me, so I hope this is helpful to someone else pulling their hair!

  • Smartphone blackBerry Storm problems international roaming

Yet another problem Storm for me. I am currently in Hong Kong and the global data feature does not work. When switch mode GSM, he says constantly only SOS calls. I tried to manually choose a network... for example, SmarTone Vodafone but it constantly just says SOS calls. What the hell is going on? It worked for about 15 minutes and then to SOS calls only. If it's really a global phone, it offers you a world of problems and grief. When 1XEV or overall I can make and receive calls, but I worry about this. I need data and Verizon has only agreements with HK companies on GSM networks. I tried to restart and everything I can think of, but nothing helped. I talked to a Verizon representative who says that someone will call back me. Someone at - it ideas?

  • BlackBerry Smartphones Blackberry Storm problems

OK, so I've had this phone for a few weeks, and the other day I noticed that the prosecution was weak, so I went and hooked up with my usb cable, lightning little came so I went away for a while, I come back about a half hour later and the bar didn't move everything, he was still on a low battery indicator and the lightning was still on. After that I tried to use the wall cord and still the same thing, I checked on it every time in a while to see if the lightning was still on and it was all the time. While yesterday that it died completely, so I tried to hook up again with a car charger, I went out and bought and all that's happened is the defiler red light came and when I hold the power button down it stops and when I hold down again he just lights once again , but the screen remains black all the time.

My second problem is that when I try to push the corners of the touchscreen in they do not really grow and I have to push a little harder for them to get them to click. My friend told me there is a way to fix as to put a business card behind the batter, I was going to try it but I can't find much info on how to do exactly.

If anyone can help please do. usually, I don't have time during the day to go back to the store for any help would be highly appreciated.

Hi and welcome to the Forums!

It seems that if you have a bad battery, charger or port inside your storm. The symptoms you describe are all on an empty battery... BB will not respond until a minimum rate, which can take a few hours to build a completely dead State. What you need to do, I think, is plugged into a wall charger and leave overnight... then see if it meets all the morning. If this isn't the case, then I suggest that you take for the evaluation of the guarantee (sorry).

For the corners of the screen - this is a known issue with some devices. There are many theories about a fix... including a Torx screwdriver inside and the lull in the tension on some of the screws. I'm not advocating that, but you never know. But do not do this until solve you the first problem though.

For the Cardinal business... just take a card and cut it to the footprint of the battery. Then, place the card between the battery and the back cover... Be gentle, you want the card to liquidate on the stack and no straddling place out of it well. You can try it before the first problem is solved, but it will not be much good if the first problem of the winds being fatal.

    Good luck!

  • BlackBerry Storm - problems with touchEvent

    Hi all

I'm porting a game of BB to the storm.

I've added a handler for the touchEvent, like this:

    protected boolean touchEvent (TouchEvent message)
    {

    regardless of the code

    Returns true;
    }

The problem is that the method is called, but GetX (1), GetY (1) always are-1 and message.getEvent always returns 0, no matter if the screen is clicked/typed.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you.

touchEvent must be replaced each time you need manage key events.

  • Problems with my Blackberry Storm blackBerry Smartphones

I just bought a new Blackberry Storm Verizon about a week and a half. I really wanted to get one when they came out first, but a lot of apps from third party that I used all the time on my Motorola Q were not available for the storm. After waiting this long I decided to go there and get one anyway and test it. Much, I love the storm and the concept, Blackberry (storm) and very in deca. I used a Motorola Q for the last 3 years and could do almost everything I needed with it. Why make things too hard and try to be an island intrinsically Blackberry?

Problems I see with Blackberry and storm:

1 JAVAScript does not work correctly. I have installation of webcams in my office and at home that runs Javascript and they work perfectly on my Q using the browser Opera Mobile, Skyfire and IE. On my Storm, I tried to search for it a Blackberry, all three modes of emulation, BB, IE and FireFox and none it will display. (Note: I also tried the bolt and Opera Mini, the cushion of numbers does not work in Opera Mini, he types lower case letters).

    2. software remote access connection is another nightmare. I could use on my Q software VNC FREE remote access to my office or home computers. For the storm, the ONLY option I can find is simply a paid for the program.

    3. the third-party apps. There are very, very small number of third-party for the Blackberry Storm applications (and seems to be the Blackberry in general). Is Blackberry so hung up on themselves that they will not be open and allow the sellers to fill the big gaps they left with their product (s).

    4. I can't access to my college email address located on Microsoft Outlook Live via a web browser or email on the BB.

Here are some of the problems that I have seem to have with the BB. Too bad I don't like Windows, I have to say it works and third party apps are lacking and simply do not work. Apart from all this, I'm really doing my job as a storm for me, because I love the technology involved with him.

A gleemer of hope, thanks goodness PDANet has finally released a beta for the storm. He was the biggest reason that I would not get a storm originally was to be able to connect my laptop to my smartphone.

It seems fitting that BB is trying to keep their technology wrapped so that no one else can fill in the gaps that they leave, because if it was easy to do, then there will be tons of other apps out there that would work.

darkcyber, sorry, but it seems that your post was missing in the middle of all the others.  If you go through the other posts, you will actually see that there is a lot of help here and there clearly are a ton of people who use it.

    1. now then, remember that BlackBerry phones are not the same as the Motorola Q (which was running on Windows Mobile, if I remember correctly).  JavaScript works, but you must make sure his tour on and you may need to change some settings other.  I can't remember where I saw it, but someone has posted a message on the use of their Storm for the display of the webcams.  They said something about having to adjust the parameters of port and udp (sorry, I have not myself this configuration and therefore do not know exactly how do).  Use the search option and you might be able to find the post.

    2. Secondly, it is once again a difference between BlackBerry and Windows Mobile software or Palm OS.  Be happy that you have found a program paying to use.

    3. This can be your impression, but believe me, there are apparently struck for BlackBerry - in thousands tons.  Try to check the new BlackBerry App World and for other programs, check BPlay, MobiHand, Handango, and various other app stores.

    4. do you have a BIS account set up?  You must configure a BIS account and set up your College email there.

I hope that some of these things will answer your questions, or at least points you in the right direction.  In the future, try to use a more descriptive than 'Problems with my Blackberry Storm' title because that will probably draw more people.  And if you get no response, it means one of two things happened - your message is simply missed, or nobody has an answer to your question.  If so, feel free to go back.  Do not react with the message you left as what makes no one want to answer at all (I did because I'm nice and felt bad that the original message had not been addressed, but I know others here who could see this answer and simply walk because of this response).

  • Problems of Smartphones Blackberry Storm 1 blackBerry with camera and clicking noise

Hi, I'm really bad with technology if I appreciate all the comments! I want to see if my problem is a simple before I send mine to fix. My blackberry storm has recently made a low clicking noise when it is not hit. Also the camera does not work. I can see the image that I am about to take, but when I take a picture all I see is a black screen with random colors forming a line on the left side of the screen so no picture don't can be taken. What can I do? Thank you!

Hi and welcome to the Forums!

Each time a random strange behavior or slow creeps, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the hood back and remove the battery. Wait a minute, then replace the battery and cover. Power on and wait patiently through the long reboot - about 5 minutes. See if things return to functioning. Like all computing devices, BB suffers from memory leaks and others... with a hard reboot is the best remedy.

    Best!

  • Options of problem-calendar blackBerry Smartphones Blackberry Storm will not save.

    Hello-

I have a Blackberry Storm, and every time I try to make sure 'free time' and 'alarms' will not appear in my calendar, it wont let me save.  When I adjust them, then click on SAVE, it does not, and if I change them and try to close the program, it says "Changes Made: save, Discard, cancel."  If I chose to save or cancel, it won't let me out of the Calendar Options, and if I click on ignore, then the changes have not been saved.  Help, please! This becomes INCREDIBLY BORING!

This work around seems to be the General fix Options - go to Calendar Options.

The value 'Show free time' to no.

    The value "Show tasks" (lower)

You may need to leave "Show alarms" yes - I would like to try first for now.

'Save' should now work on exit and you should no longer see entries free time.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones Help needed! BlackBerry storm 9500 memory problem!

    Hi all

I use blackberry storm 9500 and I discovered this video file of great sample RIM - Babylon AD (about 17 MB) on the memory (128 mb) internal rather than the storage memory (1 GB). I really need to use memory to 17 MB on demand rather than to the video. I wanted to remove this video in order to free up more memory space, given the total internal memory is 128 MB, 17 MB, it's a lot.

Is it possible that I can delete this file? I really don't need this.

    Thank you very much!

Highlight, then open the Media icon > icon of videos > scroll the title of Diquizeiko_dieu and press the Menu key again > delete.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones Blackberry Media Sync continues to display 'Please connect a Blackberry smart phone' when the Blackberry Storm is connected to the PC

About a 2 months ago when I would like to connect my (the first storm) blackberry storm to my computer via the USB cable supplied with the phone, I was able to transfer music from my computer (itunes) to the blackberry via Blackberry Media Sync with no problems (open Blackberry Media Sync, connect blackberry to the computer via the USB port and screen Media Sync would change so that I could sync to the blackberry storm music). I didn't even have to install Blackberry Media Sync in December 2009

But now after I connect my Blackberry Storm to my computer, the screen of Blackberry Media Sync does not change and continues to display "please connect a Blackberry smartphone. I tried these tips I found online:

1.) several reboots my computer (windows vista)

2.) update/reinstall Blackberry Media Sync, then by restarting my computer

3.) reconnection from blackberry to the computer, then open Media Sync

4.) Open Media Sync first and then connect the blackberry to the computer.

5.) installation BlackBerry USB and Modem drivers (even if I can't find the USB driver for it under the Universal Serial Bus Controller when I check in the Device Manager when you go to control panel – system and Maintenance – Manager of devices, but I found a v2 COM4 and COM5 RIM virtual serial Port when you select "devices by connection" under display in Device Manager) or are RIM Serial Port virtual v2 COM4 and COM5 drivers I'm looking for?

6.) go to Options (on blackberry) - memory and make sure Media Card Support, Media Transfer Protocol (MTO) and Mass Storage Mode Support are resolved on 'On', the encryption Mode is set to 'None' and mass storage Mode Auto activate when connected, it the value "Prompt" although I tried to 'Yes' as well. It says I have 785 MB of memory space of the unit out of 879 MB total memory of the device and 7.1 GB of free space on a total of 7.3 GB of Media Card Media Card.

None of the above tips and troubleshooting tips worked. I also checked the Blackberry technical solution center but I've not found anything there that has contributed to the other. I found discussions forums online, including issues of people with 'blackberry media sync cannot connect to the device' pop up, but I have not had this pop-up. The Media Sync screen remains just the same as if I never connected the blackberry storm to my computer in the first place even if my blackberry storm recharges via the computer.

Is there something that I miss or have not yet done? What should I do?

Too bad. I went to a Verizon store and they me remove the battery and turn the blackberry. Worked like a charm and I can now use Media Sync.

Also told me that I need to update the software of the phone blackberry using Blackberry Desktop software (I have version 4 and need to update to 5) and make sure to choose to back up files when you are prompted during the update or you will lose all files, the media and info saved on blackberry.

  • BlackBerry Blackberry Storm Smartphones - does not light (red light)

    Hi all

Recently, I dug my Blackberry Storm out of his box and tried to use it again. Unfortunately, it not light.

I can plug it into my computer (Mac) and the red light comes on. He will stay on until I open the Blackberry Desktop Manager how the phone starts a cycle of rebooting. Every now and then it stops on a symbol of the battery with a slash through it (are there no battery in the phone), but the second, I try to connect to it via the Blackberry software it restarts again.

I tried the JML encoder or whatever his program called and every time it tries to connect to the phone, the phone restarts.

This is as far as I know:

    Carrier: Verizon

    Phone: Blackberry Storm (to 2008)

    Computer: Mac

Program: Blackberry Desktop Software 2.4.0 (Build 17)

My phone is out of warranty and since he began to send me in trouble in 2009 I switched to Android. I've never had a problem with Android, so I forgot to go back and see what was wrong with my Blackberry. I hope someone can help out me. I can't really 'take to verizon' because their solution is swap out today just for a working one, but since it's out of contract. / warranty, they will tell you simply throw me. I live in Los Angeles, perhaps someone someone actually knows phones Blackberry of PATCHES. I know it's a new idea.

Thanks, I hope someone can help!

In your situation, a 507 is actually a good thing... 507 means that the BB has no OS installed in it, but at least it turn on now.

I don't know how do to recover it through MAC... all of the stuff I know applies to the PC. You might find some MAC-specific help in our MAC-specific forum:

    • supportforums.BlackBerry.com/T5/Desktop-Software-for-Mac/BD-p/blackberryformac

Everything what I've heard, none of the stuff to get over this is for MAC, so if you have access to a Windows PC, you can perform the following procedure, which removes as "automatic" search/download OS that fails on your MAC and replace it with what you control:

    1) uninstall all the BB OS packages from your PC,

    (2) make sure you have the BB Desktop Software already installed

    (3) download and install to your PC, the BB OS package you want:

    4) remove, on your PC, all copies of the SELLER. XML... There will be at least one and maybe 2, and they will be located in the same way or to (it changes based on your version of Windows) these files:

    • C:\Program Files (x 86) \Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    • C:\Users\(your Windows username) \AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML

    (5) run the Desktop software and connect your BB... the software should offer the operating system package you have installed on your PC. If, during the process, your BB votre BB a '507' error, simply unplug the power cord of the BB USB and reinsert it. do nothing else... This should allow the installation to continue.

I tried to update to update my Storm 2.

TELUS said there is a de.32.712 update but when I try to update it starts and then tells me to check my internet connection and try again.  Of course, retry does nothing.

I tried it on my laptop and I thought that was the problem.

I moved from Northern Ontario and I now live in Toronto.  WHAT IS THE PROBLEM?

    I changed my phone number.

I now have my desktop hooked up and the same thing is happening with an ethernet connection.   Therefore, it is not the internet.

I was able to install the latest version of Desktop Manager.

It starts to back up and then has a problem.   So the next time that I supported first.  When I went to upgrade, he wanted to back up again, but I unchecked it.  He immediately said that I had a problem with the internet connection and try again later.

I have a dictionary on my blackberry right on the device memory.  Dict. MS to execute.

I wonder if that's the problem.   I thought it was the laptop mass storage device problem, but now I see that does not work on my desktop also.

Yes BB Storm 2 Telus Canada

    Using the Desktop Manager 6

Able to backup on my computer manually.

Unable to upgrade to the latest OS

    Hi Jane,

Sorry for the delay in responding.

As web-based charger does not work, I would suggest doing the following:

    1. go to https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=02A32AD2669E6FE298E607FE7CC0E1A0

    2. download the software of the device for your BlackBerry Storm 9550 5.0.0.712

3 install the software and tap on finish once he did install.

    4. navigate to the location where Loader.exe is installed. The default location is C:\Program Files\Common Research In Motion\AppLoader.
    5. start Loader.exe. The Application Loader Wizard window opens.
    6. when the Communications Port selection window opens, select a PIN number for one of the BlackBerry smartphones connected to the personal computer. Click Next.
    7. the Application Loader Wizard opens the selection of the Application device. Select any other languages or applications in the selection window, and then click Next.
    8. click on Finish. The BlackBerry smartphone will be improved with the appropriate software.
