BlackBerry smartphones download old Emails on BlackBerry with IMAP

I just got a BB Curve 8330 Sprint and set up my IMAP e-mail account. I'm on a Mac, and PocketMac is not a useful way to get my email from Mail.app on my BlackBerry. My BB works fine when I get a new email: it is visible on the BB before it appears on the computer. My problem, however, is that I want all of my old emails and files downloaded on my BB. Because of my previous experiences with IMAP, I thought that when they were connected the BB would automatically download all of these emails and folders, but I could not do make or find answers online. So I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and how you solved. Nothing don't that seems to be working.

Thank you.

not possible unless you transfer all your emails to yourself

BB will capture only whats new from the time that you integrate the e-mail account to your BB

  • BlackBerry Smartphone Sync old emails to a 8830

I tried to search through old posts on this subject but nothing of what I found seemed to work for me again.  I saw a post on changes to the registry, but I don't know who's going to work for me and I'm a bit wary of doing this.  We have BES 4.1.0.38 running on an Exchange server 2003.  The end user has a worldphone 8830.  Its prospects, the user has a few thousand messages in his Inbox.  He wants to be able to see these messages on the BB.  I saw something about a new code PIN sent so I had him wipe his computer pocket, removed from the BES, added on him and through him re-company activating.  Activation passes by and says completed successfully.  After this activation, he had return emails the day.  What is the limit of 200 messages on activation that I saw?  (Yes, we get that many messages in 2 days)  Is there a way to get out the old emails that are in their Inbox for BB?  He can see all these old messages in her outlook and OWA.

An upgrade to SP5 will help?  We planning on it, but wait until the maintenance window.

I called RIM on this subject today.  The short answer is that there is no way to do it.  You can change the limits of the populations on the BES, but the limit is 7 days and 350 messages (at least on the SP we are running).  The tech that I talked to said the only way to get a backup of the current BB with all your emails on it and give it a new or return these emails to yourself to get out the old emails for a BB, so they appear as new messages.  The only way to do that right now is with pre-population of the, or a backup of an existing BB, or return messages to yourself.

  • Why TB keep download old emails

I'm running win7 and 38.3 TH. Every now and then, TB upload old emails that I have. How to avoid this?

There are three cases I know, not the fault of Thunderbird.

    1. the email provider reindexes the mail on the server. (You can do anything, but becomes more common with Yahoo mail and those who use it as BT and AAT)
    2. your anti-virus interferes with the download of the Thunderbird point can't seem to save the State of POP downloads information. (Turn off email scanning in Anti virus)
    3. hard drive corruption that allows access to the State stored file impossible. (Run a disk repair utility)

  • BlackBerry smartphones download old Version of BB Desktop Software

    Hi all!

I just downloaded MagicBerry so that I can get my SMS on my PC. It works well for backups, I did a long time ago, in the IPD format, but fails with most recent backups. So I want to use an older version of the desktop software so that I can get an RPI update to open with MagicBerry.

Can anywhere tell me a download of the installer for a version of the desktop software that can do it (I think the version I used was version 5)?

You can press menu and delete or simply press the delete key.

  • I want to save an IMAP via POP3 account in Thunderbird, but it will not download old emails that are still on the server. How can I do this?

I start using Thunderbird to save and purge old e-mails from an account via POP3. This account is accessible by other users using IMAP on their computers and mobile phones.

I want to archive and purge old messages from the server using Thunderbird. But it will not download messages that apparently are marked as read on the server via IMAP.

POP mail accounts must be configured to "leave messages on server".
    Check this box before use.

    • Tools > account settings > server for the e-mail account settings

    or

    • menu icon > Options > account settings > server for the e-mail account settings

Select: 'leave messages on the server.

Optional: select: "during the more than xx days" this will remove something more that select the specified number of days "until I have delete" when you delete an email it will be deleted from the server.

Click Ok to save the settings.

POP mail accounts are only looking at the Inbox and download everything that has not been previously downloaded regardless of whether it has been read or not. They cannot access or download from any other folder on the server.

If you want to download the e-mail messages in other directories, you must move the emails in the Inbox to upload and it's may not be practical in your situation.

What you can do is to synchronize your IMAP folders to a copy downloaded to your IMAP e-mail account.
Then switch mode 'offline' to stop any additional synchronization synchronized files update.
MozBackup tool could now be used to save the profile synchronization created mbox files that contain emails.

You can also do the following to get a copy outside the IMAP e-mail account:
Create the same folders in the "local folders".
Then right click on the email and "copy to" and select local folders and the folder you need.
Put a copy in the local files means these e-mails are also on your computer and they are not influenced by what you do in the IMAP folder.
You need backup emails in these folders.
    See info:

    MozBackup:

    ImportExporttool:

  • Difficulty download old emails after having been on vacation

Recently, I've been away on vacation (from August 26 to September 9). Moving, I was following my emails from Thunderbird to my MacBook Air. When I got home on 9 September, I wanted to download all e-mails from August 26 from e-mail from September 3 downloaded my computer desktop iMac, but only last week so I missed the emails of the week. How can I stop what happens when I leave in Australia for 6 weeks next year?

Connect to your Firefox or your MacBook Air e-mail account. If they're still there, it should be possible to save them. I don't think they are. My ISP only allows 600 megabytes. Once it is full, the system begins to remove the oldest. If they come from people known to them to be able to send back them. To work around this create a Gmail account and "cc" (carbon copy) a copy of this account. If I remember correctly, I have about 1000 emails in my Gmail account and I always register full 0%. You can retrieve it from there when you get back. You can join your provider and ask him what happened. They can help. Also check your settings in TB. I myself have been guilty of crazy moments. Changes made and forgotten to my system. Or there was a troll under my bed. Previous post: the results. Good luck

  • Outlook express download old emails read like new unread emails whenever it is open

I turned on my PC and re-opened Outlook express after a 2 week break. Under send/receive I get ALL my emails stored as new unread emails as well as new unread then emails that I was absent. It is about 3000 emails everytime I open Outlook express. How can I limit the send/receive to receive only the emails sent to me from OE last opened?

What Steve said, but I'll elaborate on that a bit.

Tools | Accounts | Mail | Properties | Advanced. Uncheck: Leave a copy of messages on the server. Then, remove the Pop3uidl.dbx file. You will get the messages once more, but it should be.

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.

With OE closed, find the Pop3uidl.dbx file and delete it.  Another will be created automatically when you open OE.

    General precautions for Outlook Express:

Do not archive mail in the receipt or sent items box. Create your own user-defined folders and move messages you want to put in them. Empty the deleted items folder daily. Although the dbx files have a theoretical capacity of 2 GB, I recommend all a 300 MB max for less risk of corruption.

Information on the maximum size of the .dbx files that are used by Outlook Express:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/?kbid=903095

After you're done, followed by compacting your folders manually while working * off * and do it often.

Click Outlook Express at the top of the the folder tree so no folders are open. Then: File | Work offline (or double-click on work online in the status bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until the compacting is completed.

Disable analysis in your e-mail anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that devours the processors and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs and account setting changes. Your up-to-date A / V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For more information, see:

  • Windows mail - mail incoming download old emails and duplication

Initially I could not receive my emails in mail windows for 4 days and then when he started again I got thousands of old e-mails reproduced several times in 2008 (I have now 30 000 mails in my Inbox) why what is happening and what do you propose, I do.

If it is a POP3 account, follow these steps:

1: tools | Options | In general. Disable temporarily: send receive & when starting and check for messages every X minutes.

2: tools | Accounts | Mail | Properties | Advanced - uncheck: leave a copy of messages on the server.

Now, do a manual transmission? Receive and don't touch anything until it's done. Remove the message, you do not want to and check #1 again, but not of #2. Perhaps it would be easier to move the messages that you want to a different folder and then delete everything else suddenly. The message header a culmination and Ctrl + A will highlight the Delete all.

  • What happened to my old emails? Today thought Tbird that I was a new user and have been asked to set up a new account

When I started today Tbird, I got a prompt telling me to set up my account. It was as if Tbird never had seen me before. There is no Inbox! So I created my account using my settings, I had recorded in a text file. When I retried my email, only 3 messages have been downloaded and none of my old emails were there, nor any of my files when I save e-mails depending on the subject.

Then I went to Mozilla to see what was wrong. Apparently others have had it also. But the solution is incredibly complex and I think that I crushed my old preferences file when I recreated my profile. Is there a way to recover my old emails?

I followed all your instructions, but I don't have my old emails back. With the folder 'see' troubleshooting information, I see Inbox.sbd and 3 files with the extension *.sbd and subfolders with names and those names with an extension *.msf. But I can't get Tbird to see these files. What I am doing wrong?

EDIT: I've rechecked and my pointing to the right folder badly shot. Instead of going to 'mail.gte.net', Tbird watched a subfolder. I stressed in the correct folder and all reappeared, including my message filters.

Now, how can I avoid this happening again? Should I just update this profile I made a copy of this morning?

Thanks for your help! I was almost caught panicking at the thought of a lot of information get lost!

  • Smartphones blackBerry deleting old emails

    Hello!

Someone out there will know the answer to this.

I recently had to remove an e-mail address, and then reinstall it. Unfortunately, before I removed it, I forgot to highlight all my email as 'read '.

After removing and reninstalled the email address, rather than to have an empty Inbox and 0 unread emails, I have an empty Inbox and 41 emails not read. It is of course always store the old email somewhere or pick up the unread number somewhere but I can't work where.

Could someone post or PIN me with a solution to this. I know someone out there has done this at some point!

    Thank you

    Dominic

Hello and welcome to the Forums of Support BlackBerry.com.

We can answer here, in this forum.

Tips to clear the message unread... try them in the order.

If you have a new icon rogue Message on your home screen, or a negative number (-1), one of these solutions could erase or reset:

    Try these options:
    * Hard Reset BlackBerry now ALT CAP (right Shift key) and DEL (or with the BlackBerry power, remove the battery and reinsert the battery)
    Messages > saved Messages
Messages > view folders, check each folder (calls, SMS and MMS, and boxes, saved missed boxes, browser, phone logs etc.)
    * Scroll at the top of the folder, on the title menu, click or tap to MARK PRIOR OPEN date
Change your theme and see if it persists and return to your desired theme. (Options > theme > select.)
    * Clean and reload your OS.

You can update your profile here to provide your name and model carrier of BlackBerry device, so that when you have a question, what information should be asked from the start. Click my settings > personal information and then SAVE at the bottom of the page.

  • Smartphones blackBerry with Blackberry ID problems

I deleted my Blackberry ID by clicking on the link provided in the confirmation email that I received when I first created it. Now when I want to check my account or put in another SIM, he still asks me to connect, but I don't know my password longer (am now at 6 out of 10 attempts). At the same time, when I click on the option 'forgot password' it tells me to make sure that my BlackBerry ID enabled one I typed the right e-mail address? !!!

How I can ged rid of it all? I don't need a Blackberry ID and want to just my phone as it was before I created this account in the first place. Help, please

Yes, a wipe will delete all user data and perhaps all the 3rd party apps... see these for reference:

    • KB26694 How to change the ID BlackBerry PlayBook, BlackBerry tablet or a smartphone BlackBerry with BlackBerry 7
    • KB16307 Actions performed by the BlackBerry smartphone during the removal of the user stored and application data

If you use your BB (I'm not on this point), you can make a backup of your data first with Desktop software and then restore after completing the BB ID wipe and other things..., it would be better to wait the restoration before know of things work well, just in case where:

You should also probably do a selective restore rather than a wholesale restoration... just to be sure restore you only the data items that are important (e.g., contacts, calendar, etc.) and not on the databases that could be problematic if restored:

    • KB03974 List of database for the blackBerry smartphone

In addition, it would be a good idea to use a desktop app Organizer for your data, rather than having your BB as the "main source". With a compatible organiser, you can synchronize between your PC and your BB all these data, which then allows you to forward to your full size PC monitor/keyboard/mouse to actually work with the data:

    • KB12268 BlackBerry Desktop Software for Windows supported for synchronization applications
    • KB03315 How to synchronize Organizer data (calendar, to-do list, memo list and list of contacts) using the BlackBerry Desktop Software
    • KB19148 How to synchronize Organizer data in Microsoft Office for Mac between the phone smart BlackBerry and your Mac using BlackBerry Desktop Software

I know I'm throwing a lot to you, but, well... I want to make sure that you are getting the most out of your BB you can, as well as the protection of your data at the same time. Oh Yes... which reminds me... don't forget to activate the app BB Protect free once you have everything... He's going to save your data in the cloud as an extra measure of data protection. It will also help in the case of loss or theft.

    • KB25061 What is BlackBerry Protect?

    Good luck!
