BlackBerry Smartphones Low memory question... urgent!

I'm having some trouble with little memory. Earlier this evening, I tried to download an mp3 file which, it turned out, was too big to download. An hour later, I noticed that my memory was a little less 18KBs just around 13KBs - and now I get the little hourglass icon a LOT. My BB becomes very slow.

The file I have tried to download, obviously, do not get downloaded. What is eaten up as much memory? Where at - it go? How can I get that back? I tried pulling the battery - twice.

Any suggestions? Thank you.

Check the device memory by going to the media, then click your Menu button and choose explore. Check under

/ Device memory/home/user of the files Foreach (Documents, music, etc.) to see if you can find one that has been downloaded.

When I run the listing via the office of accreditation, the total memory used (added by me) is 66.1 MB more 3693 KB.  This is based on the memory that the listing of the ap said that picks up every application.  So about 70 MB total.

Says memory device total ap is 124 MB.  This means that I should have about 54 MB of available space?  Unless I'm missing something?

But the device lists available ap as only 19 MB memory (immediately upon restart after pressing the battery)

I could not install the last update (or rather the last one I tried updating, perhaps there was more since, I do not know) because it says that I need 33 MB to do.

I tried to download the update once, but he wouldn't let me finish... it's somehow possible that the update takes place without actually be completely installed?  Which would bring the numbers more closely to what they should be - if 33 MB is used by the update... If Yes, how can I delete and start over?

When I run registration ap via the desktop software - the update is listed on the access point main list, with a status of "available".  And confess to 33.8 mb.  He appears again at the bottom under "consolidated request" - it is the only element that there are listed.  Under the column "pending action", it says "update".

When I select/hilight an item in the list of the main application, when I select 'BB 5.0.0 core applications', the 'updated' appears just below, and they are hilighted together, not separate the elements.  Although they each have their own amount of memory use (14.1 MB for basic applications) and 33.8 MB for the update

Yes, I sometimes forget to close the correct way - but I don't go as battery pull - and the available memory info above was immediately after a battery pull...

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

First of all, don't try to do the math of memory on the device - used application space, because the math won't never worked that you think he could. Extra space is used by the application data third ECT is not counted in your totals, as well the browser cache and the media map caches and other things.

You can do your upgrade in this way:

See the link below for download and simple installation instructions.

First find your operator and the system operating file that you want to use.
    http://NA.BlackBerry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp

Make a backup of your device first, using Desktop Manager > backup. Close the office at the end Manager.

    1. download the OS files to the PC then install on the PC by running (double click) the downloaded file.
    2. go in c:\program files Research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
    3. plug in the BB and double-click on "Loader.exe." It is located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

    Good luck.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones low memory with OS 6

OS 6 seems to use a much larger portion of the allocation of phone memory. With a modest set of applications and the removal of the games not used, etc. I have a basic level of about 40 MB, even if use. Daily use which rediced to 10-16 MB and less I get shows low memory and need to reboot to recover the memory available. The memory consumed is in the other category. This has never been a problem with the OS 5, which I think has a smaller BONE. Any content that I store is on the map.

Is there a way to allocate memory differently, to address your operational cache or buffer to the media card, or any other action to reconcile consumption or lack of memory available?

Your best bet is to look at the applications over time. Install an application will take the memory of the initial (42 MB, you said), because this initial memory is running and storage.

Some applications, but unfortunately not very many, allow you to configure the storage of application data. If you do, move the storage of application for storage of device (which is separate from the application memory) or a media card.

    Good luck!

Silly question maybe, but... when I open an audio file (such as a song or a clip radio or something similar) online to listen to it, but I didn't save it on my BB, I used no memory just by doing this? Does this question make sense?

When you open the file attachment, it goes into the "attachment data" database and cannot be removed unless you remove the message that contains the attachment.

When you open the file from the browser, just in the browser's cache until it is cleared

    Hi josh2tyte

Know the memory application available from your device on your home screen to go to Options > device > storage > under the title of storage of applications please check free space =?

If you get this message as you said on your message, try removing some applications options > device > application > locate and remove any unused application or not that you rarely use. It can help improve your memory of the application.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones Low Application memory

Hey, I have 9000 "BOLD" and my memory of the application has never been more far than 20 MB... the only third-party applications, I installed are whatsapp copter and the module bbm. I have read several topics on it, solutions never made me over 20 MB. This is my camera go really slow, and I asked for help on this subject. So it would be a lot of help, if you could tell me how to solve this problem... friends have more than 5 applications and their device works fine...

A miracle that I can recommend is to restart from time to time! This clears up a lot of used storage space!

Another thing you can do, if any on the 9000, is to clear the event log, which makes your device visibly smoother.

    Hellko Forum.

For two weeks, I use a Blackberry Bold 9900 with OS7.1 and I am very satisfied with the device.

But there are some questions for which I have found no solution:

(*) Looking back at my old Siemens S10D or SK65, they had an option to synchronize the internal clock with time of the GSM network information. Will there be a similar option in the Bold 9900? What I found was an option in the date and time settings. But when I put "Government aktualisieren" (setting the time) on 'automatic' then time switches to October 5, 2013, 12:20 and nothing happens. Is it possible to connect to an NTP server? If so, where to enter the address?

(*) On this Web page http://de.blackberry.com/software/smartphones/update/blackberry7-os.html?LID=de:bb:support:update - of... Describes how to upgrade the software of the smartphone "over the air". But I can't find this option. Where the developer has hidden this feature?

  • BlackBerry Smartphones Application memory depletes the Torch 9810, OS 7.1

    Hello

For a few weeks with in a day or two, the free Application reaches 10 MB memory. Rebooting frees memory, but just for a day. I have questions-
    1. is there a way to increase the memory of the Application? Other messages it does not seem possible, but thought I'd ask.
    2. How can I find what is stored in the memory of the App? I have more than 120 MB that says: "Other" in "Application Management" (about 80 MB for app). This 120Mo continues to grow over time. Do not know if I have accidentally stored anythinh here, but not there at - there a way to know what is this 'other '?
    3. is there a tool that can find what app or anything else is causing the memory increase?
    4. is it possible that some app has led to this problem or I recorded a video, etc. to the memory of the App?

I always had more than 100 MB of free space in the memory application in recent weeks. I removed all of the apps I have installed in the past weeks, but nothing helped.

Any help is appreciated... Sorry for the long post, wanted to be more descriptive as possible ;-)

    See you soon,.
    Vikram

You have two questions.  First of all, 65 MB of free space of the Application memory is not much.  Something is to take memory.  Load any new request when it started?  Do you use a card multimedia for pictures and videos?

Second, OS earlier than I posted have problems with the 'leak' free memory down to 0 over a period of time.  At how fast depends on how much is free to start.  I would like to update your operating system with the version in the instructions below:

    1. first download the OS for the 9810 here: https://swdownloads.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=BE1DF9A5D08724971F64A511E24FC904

2 make a manual backup of your device first, using Desktop Manager > backup. Close at the end Office Manager and disconnect it from BlackBerry. You can get the BlackBerry Desktop Software here http://us.blackberry.com/apps-software/desktop/

    3. download the OS from step 1 of the file on the PC then install on the PC by running (double click) the downloaded file.

    4. go into c:\program files Research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml." Also, check the following locations for the vendor.xml file and delete all instances of the file:

On Windows Vista/7, go to C:\Users\YOUR_USER\AppData\Roaming\Research in XML Motion\BlackBerry\Loader (where 'YOUR_USER' is your user name)

On Windows XP, go to C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR_USER\Application is In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML (where 'YOUR_USER' is your user name)

    5. connect the BlackBerry and double-click on "Loader.exe." It is located in c:\program files\common research in motion\apploader.  Follow the prompts to update the operating system to the new version you downloaded.

Once this is done take a look at the free memory space.  What is - what now?

  • BlackBerry Smartphones has the question about GPS

I have a BB 8800 device. It is connected to a mobile phone service provider that does not support BES or BIS. In other words, I use this device as a mobile phone.

When I open Options-> Advanced Options-GPS and run the menu: "Refresh" GPS "didn't get no information from GPS (inside and outside).

There are zeros in Latitude and Longitude.

My question is: the GPS on BB8800 depends on mobile provider and my data plan?

I understand that to display the cards that I have at least GPRS-internet service enabled to access and download blackberry maps.

But I don't get any results when I simply run the GPS Options and launch refresh GPS info.

Could you please explain. Maybe I am doing something wrong.

    Thank you.

I don't know if the GPS works at all the or not depends on whether the carrier allows him. But even if they do, it can be quite risky. I have Verizon in the United States and subscribe to the GPS service. I think it's pretty good - when it works. The biggest problem is that every four or five days about it does connect to GPS in the service of Verizon GPS signals, nothing else that the error messages "can not connect", and I do the reset drill "remove the battery and let it sit for a very long time" in order to resume service. Oddly, it's going to walk very well on Google Maps in this condition, but not on the traditional GPS. Would like to know the cause, since it seems that I am still an urgent need for GPS when he chooses to do not. Four or five days everything works well, then I'm in a strange city and the need to go from the airport to the hotel - and it won't work, so I find myself in some of Mall parking lot looking at my phone and the battery if displayed on the seat next to me, waiting for some kind of magic back to happen. The good news is that the reset still seem to work. The bad news is that I thought there is no alternative to lose 20 minutes to get a good discount to zero. I'm probably two resets far from cancelling the GPS service, it's just unpredictable as to when it's going to fail. Google Maps is not really very accurate in showing you where you are, but it has its uses. We are house hunting and I find that using Google Maps, while we are looking at a beautiful House we prevented them from making a few mistakes - found some really nasty industrial plants just across a line of trees, for example. I also use it to find restaurants that are pretty close to my hotel (so the total precision is not serious) of the Decree.

  • BlackBerry smartphones send your questions from a novice

I just got my curve 8320.  I have BES and also an internet email on blackberry account.  I have 2 questions:

    1. is there a way to keep the 2 accounts of integration.  I like to keep my personal emails separated by business email

    2. I would like to have the choice to delete my internet email from only the blackberry or the server of my ISP.

I was flipping around this thing for 2 days to understand these.  Anyone has any ideas.

Oh one more thing.  How do you know when you need a memory card, and the blackberry can support micro SDHC?

    1. Yes, with empower BES Email Inbox. Google it. It will go your BES mail to its own folder.

    2. messages > Options > Email reconciliation > delete = set as desired for each e-mail address on the device.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones comparing memory on "BOLD" for iphone: (?)

The "BOLD" website lists: in addition to 624 MHz Intel procesor by Marvel (compared to 312 MHz), it lists flash 128 MB and 1 GB on-board memory and a slot for up to 16 GB more.

The iphone site lists: it just says 8 GB or 16 GB flash.

I do not understand the difference.  I think that the world of office in what concerns the hard drive and Ram.  I guess, but don't know, as smart phones like these use something similar to this, but given that two Web sites use exactly the same terminology I do not know how to compare.

    (1) the data above means that the iphone has much more available memory? (After all, 1 GB of flash is much more than 128 MB flash)

    (2) or maybe its apples and oranges and the 8 GB or 16 GB iphone capacity memory simply alluded without actually it indicating the location available for additional memory, so in reality is the same thing as the "BOLD"?  (But if its what so what's onboard memory iphone to compare with the 1 GB onboard memory referenced to the "BOLD"?)  And what is the comparison of the iphone for flash 128 MB?)

    (3) for the basic understanding, is the 128 MB of flash to the "BOLD" actually the RAM I think of a desktop computer, and if yes, what is the on-board memory of 1 GB?

Can someone clarify all above and in particular specify them the appropriate comparisons with the iphone and not only on the question of memory, but also what is the processor of the iphone and the speed of the processor?

Thank you.  The supposed November 4, 2008 U.S. retail release date is almost here.  I really hope that many folds referenced on this forum are addressed in this new phone.

Hello, you shouldn't think if conditions of RAM (RAM) / WORM (hard drive), but in terms of xxxx. On Blackberry devices, you have a partition for the system & applications (called "Internal memory"): it's the 128 MB on the "BOLD". On it, you hold:

    • The PIM applications: email, notes, address book, calendar, tasks and notes
    • Phone applications: SMS/MMS, browser, speech recognition
    • Third application Opera Mini, games and each application you want to download
    • the RAM as you understand it, on a computer

Then you have an additional memory card (also called Media card), 8 MB up to 32 GB, which can contain all other things: photos, videos, mp3, Office & PDF files. It is equivalent to the non-system partition.

On the iPhone, the two briefs are merged.

On the Blackberry, there is a third party application that allows to store applications on the memory card and load them onto the internal memory before using it.

    ncg61 wrote:

It is quite difficult to compare the two:

on the iPhone, you have a powerful processor somehow, which is crippled by a lot of your operating system (it's OSX for Mobile, but always OSX). On a Blackberry, you have a CPU less powerful, but with an operating system designed for a handheld device.

On an iPhone, an application is large enough. It is very rare to find one that is less than 1 MB.

On the blackberry, it's the opposite: the applications are smaller.

On an iPhone, you can not get an application that has not been approved by Apple Inc. (unless you jailbreak your iPhone). On a blackberry, you can get any app that someone publishes. Including porn.

On an iPhone, if I want to develop an application, I have to pay a tax of $100 AppleInc; If I did not, then my application can be downloaded by jailbroken iPhones. On a Blackberry, I don't pay anything. I just publish it somewhere on the web. I'll give you a very specific example: Opera Mini is one of the most beautiful browser for mobile phones. Apple has refusedto got it publishedso no one can use it on an iPhone (except the jailbreak).

Another very concrete example: If you pay $100 and prepare your application, if Apple refuses, then you have the eyes to cry: you've lost time (and perhaps money to hire developers) and you cannot be assured that you can sell.

Another example: say, you sell an application. It is 10EUR. If the consumer is not happy with it, they can return it. In this case, he or she gets the return of 10EUR. Fine for him or her. But continues to Apple the transaction fees, which means or do not get the return 10EUR but 10EUR less standard fees from Apple (it's to a few % but I don't know how).

    the result is twofold:

on the one hand, there is a trend that everyone wants to develop for Apple

on the other side, Apple is doing everything to rot the lives of these people.

But Apple's App Store is a good idea, and Blackberry has just made an announcement about a same store for Blackberry users.

I just got a curve, so I'm not even interested in looking at the most advanced mobile devices with touch screen, but I think you should try both for real and not just look at the numbers. There are also some exclusive features to the iPhone: link to the iTunes music store and iPod it contains. and others that are exclusive to the "BOLD": stereo Bluetooth, copy/paste and total synchronization with Outlook (emails not only).
