BlackBerry smartphones move Documents-To-Go for laptop

My BB curve has a map of press and word (attachments) documents to record on it. I have 2 questions
Maybe someone can help with. First of all, I ache to change the name of the folder (where I want to save.) The BB seems to want to save it in the directory of Blackberry and it takes several tries to get me into the documents directory. (So I never know how I did it!) 2nd question:
When I connect my laptop to the BB, I can't take away Documents that have been made to the BB. I can easily drag the documents from my laptop in the documents on the BB folder... and then I see these .doc files. But I can't see the attachments saved on my BB when I opened a file BB from my pc. (I see .jpgs, music etc. Simply not .doc files.) Thanks to anyone who can help!

great - that really helped. The docs were saved to the device, not the support card, which explains why I could not see them Windows on the pc. When I used to explore the way in which you said to do, I could see the structure of folders on the device and the media card are exactly the same thing... and that's why I didn't know where I was when recording. (the bb shows the path during the recording, but it is truncated and hard to read.) Also, I found that if I go to edit after opening an attachment, then SAVE slot, it is easier access to the media card to save. Thank you very much!

Hi and welcome to the Forums!

There are dozens of permission settings... I have no way, what said you, namely that which shows that 'Deny '...

But, if you can change that setting, then your likely BB is now or was formerly associated with a corporate BES environment, and a BES it policy is on board which is preventing access to this permission setting.

If you are currently a member of BES, then you need to talk to your admins BES to access this special permission setting.

If you are not currently associated with BES, TI latent policy was deleted not the when the BB is provided for you... and you need to remove. Please see this KB and consider very special on all the warnings about the loss of data:

  • BlackBerry Smartphones comparing memory on "BOLD" for iphone: (?)

The "BOLD" website lists: in addition to 624 MHz Intel procesor by Marvel (compared to 312 MHz), it lists flash 128 MB and 1 GB on-board memory and a slot for up to 16 GB more.

The iphone site lists: it just says 8 GB or 16 GB flash.

I do not understand the difference.  I think that the world of office in what concerns the hard drive and Ram.  I guess, but don't know, as smart phones like these use something similar to this, but given that two Web sites use exactly the same terminology I do not know how to compare.

    (1) the data above means that the iphone has much more available memory? (After all, 1 GB of flash is much more than 128 MB flash)

    (2) or maybe its apples and oranges and the 8 GB or 16 GB iphone capacity memory simply alluded without actually it indicating the location available for additional memory, so in reality is the same thing as the "BOLD"?  (But if its what so what's onboard memory iphone to compare with the 1 GB onboard memory referenced to the "BOLD"?)  And what is the comparison of the iphone for flash 128 MB?)

    (3) for the basic understanding, is the 128 MB of flash to the "BOLD" actually the RAM I think of a desktop computer, and if yes, what is the on-board memory of 1 GB?

Can someone clarify all above and in particular specify them the appropriate comparisons with the iphone and not only on the question of memory, but also what is the processor of the iphone and the speed of the processor?

Thank you.  The supposed November 4, 2008 U.S. retail release date is almost here.  I really hope that many folds referenced on this forum are addressed in this new phone.

Hello, you shouldn't think if conditions of RAM (RAM) / WORM (hard drive), but in terms of xxxx. On Blackberry devices, you have a partition for the system & applications (called "Internal memory"): it's the 128 MB on the "BOLD". On it, you hold:

    • The PIM applications: email, notes, address book, calendar, tasks and notes
    • Phone applications: SMS/MMS, browser, speech recognition
    • Third application Opera Mini, games and each application you want to download
    • the RAM as you understand it, on a computer

Then you have an additional memory card (also called Media card), 8 MB up to 32 GB, which can contain all other things: photos, videos, mp3, Office & PDF files. It is equivalent to the non-system partition.

On the iPhone, the two briefs are merged.

On the Blackberry, there is a third party application that allows to store applications on the memory card and load them onto the internal memory before using it.

It is quite difficult to compare the two:

on the iPhone, you have a powerful processor somehow, which is crippled by a lot of your operating system (it's OSX for Mobile, but always OSX). On a Blackberry, you have a CPU less powerful, but with an operating system designed for a handheld device.

On an iPhone, an application is large enough. It is very rare to find one that is less than 1 MB.

On the blackberry, it's the opposite: the applications are smaller.

On an iPhone, you can not get an application that has not been approved by Apple Inc. (unless you jailbreak your iPhone). On a blackberry, you can get any app that someone publishes. Including porn.

On an iPhone, if I want to develop an application, I have to pay a tax of $100 AppleInc; If I did not, then my application can be downloaded by jailbroken iPhones. On a Blackberry, I don't pay anything. I just publish it somewhere on the web. I'll give you a very specific example: Opera Mini is one of the most beautiful browser for mobile phones. Apple has refusedto got it publishedso no one can use it on an iPhone (except the jailbreak).

Another very concrete example: If you pay $100 and prepare your application, if Apple refuses, then you have the eyes to cry: you've lost time (and perhaps money to hire developers) and you cannot be assured that you can sell.

Another example: say, you sell an application. It is 10EUR. If the consumer is not happy with it, they can return it. In this case, he or she gets the return of 10EUR. Fine for him or her. But continues to Apple the transaction fees, which means or do not get the return 10EUR but 10EUR less standard fees from Apple (it's to a few % but I don't know how).

    the result is twofold:

on the one hand, there is a trend that everyone wants to develop for Apple

on the other side, Apple is doing everything to rot the lives of these people.

But Apple's App Store is a good idea, and Blackberry has just made an announcement about a same store for Blackberry users.

I just got a curve, so I'm not even interested in looking at the most advanced mobile devices with touch screen, but I think you should try both for real and not just look at the numbers. There are also some exclusive features to the iPhone: link to the iTunes music store and iPod it contains. and others that are exclusive to the "BOLD": stereo Bluetooth, copy/paste and total synchronization with Outlook (emails not only).

  • BlackBerry Smartphones two ripe and spoiled for choice... Help?

I finally took the plunge and bought my first blackberry (8520). I signed up for the bb data plan and all that jazz, and it has been awesome so far.

So, here's the deal... the other day my brother bought and iPhone and decided that he did not want his old blackberry (9000). Can I use my data on its "BOLD" plan if it has been activated with my 8520? I thought I would use one as a backup when the other was in charge, or whatever haha (the spoilt for choice?). I asked people in the electronics store where I bought my blackberry but they said that my plan is not used on another blackberry device? is this true? because I still have doubts and that it is difficult to understand how this could be true...

PS - the two devices are unlocked (if that makes a difference? I am such a newbie haha)

    Yes, it can be.

If the Bold 9000 is unlocked, follow the instructions in the link below.

    http://www.BlackBerry.com/BTSC/KB04322

Finally, you must ensure that the PIN of the bold has been released and is no longer on your old account of brothers. If you get an error making the change unit above which indicates the PIN code is stored on another medium, then your brother must ask his former carrier to release the AXIS of his account.

I'm changing to a 9700 for a 9790. I have a ton of contacts in the internal memory of the old phone and need to move all the way to the SIM card so I can pass the info on the new phone. Is there a way to copy all the contacts at once on the SIM card? Otherwise, I'll spend a week moving one by one.

    Hi jgazolm

Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums

Not on our smartphone BlackBerry you can not copy all Contacts from a SIM card at the same time, if you want to copy you make one because the BlackBerry address book is much more robust it will be a different arrangement with a resource person and several areas of information (phone cell phone, work phone, home phone, e-mail address, etc.) while the SIM card SIM card allows only one entry per phone number.

KB04205 : copy a Contact to your address book to the SIM phone.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones 10 problems and issues for the 8220

    Hiya,

I got to a point where I'm a little more frustrated on my new phone that actually enjoy it, my previous phone was a XDA Orbit running on WM5, as such, I guess I've come to expect much more than phone that's good for me...

I just got an upgrade of the O2, and since the "BOLD" was not in stock, I was sent this one.

    Anyway, here goes:

1 SMS Message-files: is there a way I can create folders for my messages? Say, for example: "SAVED-Bob", "SAVED-Steve", etc.? At the moment I don't have a main folder of the SMS display everything and really, I don't want to save the messages in the folder "Saved messages" under "Applications".

2 deleting multiple messages: according to the help by pressing alt while rolling on the messages of selects messages that I want to, then pressing the menu key, I would need to select 'delete selected messages '. Well, this doesn't seem to work. If I press the alt key everything I have will achieve is the trackball goes to the top or the bottom of the messages. Could someone point me in the right direction?

3 emails sent: why are there no 'sent' folder? I expect that, with a blackberry (which is supposed to be an office-e-mail-phone), I have a kind of box to send and sent?

memory card 4: How can I use it? The only reasonable explanation I got the phone I got a memory card has been when I took a picture and he told me that they would be stored on the MicroSD card. But how can I as a user accessing it? How can I create folders there? How can I save items such as notes out there? And if I set up a folder on the memory card with a number of word documents, PDF files and text notes, how do I access them?

    5. Security: how lock folders such as messages or send an email (let's say for the sake of the argument I want to use the same password for each of them) so that whenever I want to access my SMS messages, I need to enter a code?

6 editing: how can I change an image after I took it to a smaller size? I used TwitterBerry to upload a picture, I just took my twitter account, but it's just sitting there, download the image (which was a 1600 x 1200 image) for about 10 minutes (with connected WiFi) and did nothing.

7 overview of the message: I don't want to see the message on my phone! There is no way I can just display the "New Message" icon with the sender, but not preview of the message on the screen when the phone is closed?

8 Trackball problems: the trackball does not seem to be sitting at 100% in the middle of the cavity, instead of this he is squinted slightly to the right. It is not a huge problem, but if I see a white light shining through on the left, not the right I don't really think that it is a "function". It works and everything, but it does not appear correctly / right

9 hinge a little wobbly? The hinge has a little movement when closed (not opening), is a movement of 2mm normal?

10 backup complete phone: can I perform a full backup of my 8220 using any piece of software (the software that comes with it has not yet touched) completely back up my phone and contacts for a simple import into another Blackberry should I need to come back to this one for ad #8 #9?

Thank you all so much for your time and your help on this, I would really appreciate the phone, but for now I can't and I have already spent so much time import my contacts correctly I don't really want to consider changing phones...

Hi and welcome to the forums!

    (1) Sms messages. You can go to the queue, options, General, options scroll down

    (4) memory card. The media files that you can put on the media card will save the memory of your device. Most

the device memory smooth your BB will run. The easiest way to manage files and data on the media

card is to use the USB cable to access the PC and BB. Open windows 'MY Computer', will come the media card

  • BlackBerry Smartphones no update is available for Curve 9360

Hello, Im from India, I have a curve 9360 who currently heads the 7.0 version, I want to update 7.1 I checked via the BB of windows platform software, but it says "no update is avilabe" Please help me... Send me your replay valueable to my e-mail "[personal information deleted]."

Hello and welcome to the community!

Based on your description, I can only imagine that you tried only the automatic methods of obtaining an updated operating system. These methods are controlled by your operator, no BB, as to what is available to you. If, for example, BB was released at the level of the OS you want, but your carrier delays in approval, then you will be offered through these automatic methods. Fortunately, there are tricks to circumvent this (assuming that some other carrier comes to present the OS level you want, of course). The easiest way is, on a PC (you can not do on MAC):

    (1) make sure that you have a current backup and your BB complete... you can find the instructions at the link in my auto-sig below.

    2) uninstall all the BB OS packages from your PC,

    (3) make sure you have the BB Desktop Software already installed

    (4) download and install on your computer, the BB OS package you want:

    • If all you want are the levels of BONE, it is first sorted by carrier - the carrier supports, your search will be fast. However, some carriers are much slower than others to release updates. To really get the package up-to-date OS for your BB, you need to dig through and find all businesses that support your specific model BB and then compare the BONE levels they support.

    5) remove all copies of the SELLER on your PC. XML... There will be at least one and maybe 2, and they will be located in the same way or to (it changes based on your version of Windows) these files:

    • C:\Program Files (x 86) \Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    • C:\Users\(your Windows username) \AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML

6 (a) to change your level of BB OS installed (at level or lower), you can run the Desktop software and connect your BB... the software should offer the operating system package you have installed on your PC.

6 (b) or, for recharging your BB OS level installed as well to change, work around the Desktop software and use the CHARGER. EXE directly, through step 2 in this process:

If, during the process of 6a or 6 b, your BB has an error '507', simply unplug the USB of the BB cord and reinsert it. do nothing else... This should allow the installation to continue.

If you are on a MAC, you are limited to only your sanctioned carriers OS packages... but can still use any level they currently have to sanction. See this procedure:

    5. To proceed with the OS reinstall.  Note that this process can take 10 to 30 minutes (usually about 10 minutes).  Do not unplug the device.
    6. Once the process is complete, open the BlackBerry Desktop Manager.  Select backup and restore and open the restore application.  Select the file to restore (Backup-(Year-Month-Day) .ipd) and click Open.  Follow the steps to restore your device.
    7. Re-activate your connection to device by clicking on manage connections and turn on your Mobile network.  Download all the missing applications and re - connect to any device BlueTooth and you have completed.
