BlackBerry Smartphones Multiple repeat text messages

Using a beam of v7.1 Bold 9900 1333 (v7.1.0.402) on Vodafone UK, I suddenly received tonight about 50 copies (and more) of the same message text to a friend.

Any ideas where I should look to try to stop this constant delivery?  I turned the phone off and removed the battery, nothing works.

TIA

Dave

His phone has stopped sending me texts when she ran out of credit!  Fortunately for "pay as you go".  Investigation by its service provider has shown that whenever she sent me a text, my system / phone repleid with a 120-character text which casued his supplier to send me the same text again and so on...  Unfortuantely no one can suggest why it happened.

I have since received fruther sound texts and a number of others but only of each type - long that can continue!

Hi and welcome to the Forums!

Depending on the level of the OS you have, one of the two following:

    • Home screen > Messages > > Options > General Options

In there is a parameter which controls whether TEXT Messages are separated or combined with Messages.

    -OR-

    • Home screen > Messages > Inbox settings

A checkbox it will combine with Messages (if enabled) or separate (if not checked)

  • Icons of blackBerry Smartphones do not open - Messages, text Messages and desktop - Curve 9360

Three of the icons seem to be not working do not.

Click other thing than Messages, text Messages and desktop and they open.  Click on any one of those three mentioned above and nothing.  In fact, the device seems to hang - keyboard locks, and the fact the trackpad.  The only way is to hit the end/power key, and then you have full function of the device.  I tried even one of the keys shown button until the context menu appears and then attempt to 'cast', and the same thing happens.  The only way for a message (for example) is to go to the Notification bar, click it, and then click the specific message.  I did, and I tried to come to the "side door" by pressing the button Menu, then scroll to the display folder, then Inbox (for example) as fast as you can click, you made a comeback.

    Any ideas?

have you tried a hard reset again by doing a battery pull?  the end / power key it stops, but it looks like you need to do a hard reset.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones appeal return of message text

    Good day to all,

My last BB (curve) had the nice feature to be able to place a call to someone who has sent you a message of text just by pressing on send everything by reading the text.  My new storm does not seem to have this feature.  I miss the option by pressing on send and having the phone dial the sender of the text message.  But it is meaningless for me to remove a very convenient feature of what is supposed to be a superior product.

.. where have I failed to activate a feature or something?

    Suggestions?

OK, let's go.  JSanders sent us all in the right direction with the stationary end (Kudos to you, JS) and it made me experiment...

    1. as JSanders said: with the message open stationary over the name of the sender.

    1. on the unit the "bc" on the "Abc" button lights registering that name has been recognized.

    2. then, you can call the sender directly by pressing the send key

or, you can choose to respond to any number of other ways by pressing the BB menu key.

Of course none of this will not work if you have the protective Otterbox phone on your device. I said protective

and I had to remove the phone from the case to get access to the absolute top of the screen.  Since the name of the

the sender is to the absolute top of the access to this screen is essential for this process to work.

So now someone has suggestions on the protectors of good phone?  The Otterbox for the storm is a good protector, but if it falls on the features of the phone, then I need to get a replacement.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones untrapped Exception error messages

    Hi nGuys,

I was sent an email with a large attachment with it and now I can't access my emails or send texts?

Whenever I try, I am presented with this error message: -.

"Eception exception: java.long.array Indexoutofboundsexception' and an 'OK' button."

When I click this, (in the vain hope that everything will be OK from here in, it disconnects from the app and I'm at square one!)

That's why making the phone useless.

When I contacted Blackberry support, it says that he does not know of "Eception exception: java.long.array Indexoutofboundsexception'?"

Little help would be greatly appreciated: -.

Hello and welcome to the community!

There is virtually no diagnosis of those - they are the equivalent of random errors in Windows for which trace the root cause is futile. Basically, here's the last out in the programming code - some event occurred for which there is no event handler in the code. The patch is an update of the code that handles the event... but, again, what is the event is almost impossible. So, there are a few things to try:

Sometimes, the code simply is damaged and needs to be updated - just like a reboot:

    • Each time a random strange behavior or slow creeps, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the hood back and remove the battery. Wait a minute, then replace the battery and cover. Power on and wait patiently through the long reboot - about 5 minutes. See if things return to functioning. Like all computing devices, BB suffers from memory leaks and others... with a hard reboot is the best remedy.

There may be a code updated to the value of the carrier - check out them through this Portal:

The toughest possible causes are a bad application behave. To find it, there are two options. Is to see if you can read the log file:

Go to the home screen. Hold down the "alt" key and type "lglg". (You won't see anything as you type). This will bring up the log file. Scroll down (probably a lot of pages) until you see a line that says "eception execption. Click on this line. The application name will be in the info. Alternative methods to implement the newspapers are in this KB:

    • KB05349 How to activate, view, and extract the the event logs on a BlackBerry smartphone

The other method is to remove the apps one at a time, wait a while between the two (I usually recommend a week), until the problem stops... revealing the offending application. Yet another method is to recharge the BB OS itself, leaving little time between the addition of other applications on the BB in order to be able to determine exactly what is the cause.

That's an interesting statement... exactly how did you get that? As in, who did you call? RIM offers zero support to front line for BBs... only via the escalation of a carrier can you receive free support from RIM. You go through your carrier?

Good luck and let us know!
