BlackBerry Smartphones SMS with 160 characters...

I would like to send a text message with more than 160 characters. He used to make me type everything I wanted and it would then divide into several text messages for me.  The setting has been changed accidentally, and I can't find out how to put it back.  I went through the manual and the Web site and can not find a thing!

did you send SMS or MMS?
What is your operator?

in any case, I think you can try two things: the soft reboot, and if it does not, the hard reboot. Don't worry, you can not lose data with these two reboots.

Soft reboot:
1) struck the following three keys at the same time:
-Alt
-Left shift
-Remove
(2) wait 2 minutes for the Blackberry to wake up.

Hard reboot:
(1) your BlackBerry smart phone is on
(2) remove the battery and wait a minute
(3) replace the battery
(4) wait 5 minutes for the device to wake up.

Please tell us if it works for you.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones SMS max 70 characters

Hello world. I am new user of BB and I have a problem with the SMS length. I found a few other posts on the Web on this topic but still no real answer.

My BB is a Pearl 8120 and I can't send simple messages SMS, more than 70 characters (they would be separated more than one sms).

My language is Italian (but I tried to switch to English) and the method of encoding for SMS is set to 7bits, so it is supposed to allow up to 160chars, but no way.

I wonder if it could be something related to my Italian phone operator (TIM), although I've never had similar problems with my previous cells. The Blackberry itself is TIM brand.

I already checked my settings according to the assignment following the size of messages SMS and data coding

    Any solution?

    Thanks to everyone will help.

    UPDATE: problem solved

I write to the solution of the problem, must it be useful to someone else...

    1st:

Sending SMS was not actually separated after 70 characters: it was just a problem with the number of characters displayed on the screen that was wrong. This is definitely a bug in the firmware

    2nd:

Update the firmware to the new version 4.5 and the fault is gone. Now it correctly displays the 160 characters!

    Bye!

  • BlackBerry Smartphones SMS full Notification - help please

I'm at my wits end with my Blackberry Torch 9810.  I have very little text messages in my Inbox, I lost the lot for some reason my phone has decided to change some date & in the future and trying to resolve that, in my opinion, I wiped everything, do not know what I did a few weeks ago, but they disappeared.

Now I get notifications that my SMS Inbox is full and I need to delete messages.  Can someone help me I have a lot of messages on the handset and cannot believe it is complete unless there is an option I need to select/deselect.  The user guide is useless.

I changed a parameter in the past as text messages seem to be endangered if they were in a month or so old, but all that I did I can't and don't know how to handle all my text messages myself.  My old iphone allowed me to keep the text as long messages I wanted with what appeared to be a very large storage area, now I just want to throw this thing in the bin.  Unfortunately I have 18 months remaining on my contract (business) so I can do nothing about it.

OK, not a lot of people very little. It is in memory of the device, but you are some of the SIM card, save too much.

Then... you must change this setting according to the instructions below.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones SMS Backup-able?

Hello. I had a BB Bold 9650 for six weeks, and the 'o' key is out.  Verizon sent me a new free, but I have text messages that I really want to keep.  If I do a backup of my phone, which will exclude my texts or is it possible to save them for the transfer?

I am open to any downloadable software, with which I can save my texts.  But I checked my options in the SMS section and the inside of the text itself, and there seems to be no way to save these texts is to the card by e-mail, the PC or the media.

Would appreciate any input from anyone before I go ahead and switch phones.  I have maybe just live without "O" key and keep my existing phone.  Sounds crazy, I know, but I really want to save these.  There should be a way to save and transfer all back to the new, I hope.  Searched the web for two hours looking for it but no luck so far.  Thanks for any help you can offer.

Hi and welcome to the Forums!

If you are always two devices by hand, then you can use the switch device Wizard:

Honestly I don't positive how specifically manages the SMS, but there are sections of your user manual that discussing it... You should also check here.

Also, you can manually back up your SMS database, and then I guess that try to restore:

  • BlackBerry Smartphones SMS and missed calls shows do not in my folder of SMS and MMS

    Hello!

I have no problem with my phone so far - but this morning all of a sudden my message text and MMS folder suddenly only shows my emails.

I can send texts by going to 'compose SMS', but when I get an answer I don't see the text message... I tried to play with the menu Options and the display folder in my text and MMS Inbox, but nothing seems to work!

I assume that you must have changed some settings (I haven't touched this but anyway...) - I would like to reset?

    Help!

Thank you very much for any advice you might be able to give...

Turn on your BlackBerry and off does nothing, except to turn power on and off. Perform a simple reboot on the BlackBerry this way: with smart BlackBerry poweredphone, remove the battery for a minute and then reinsert the battery to restart. A reboot in this way is prescirbed for most the gltiches and operating system errors, and you will lose any data on the device doing so.

You can not email in your Messages folder. So, I'm confused, or is it typo?

You have the choice of where to view your SMS/MMS messages:

    • In your main folder.
    • In a folder dedicated to SMS/MMS.
  • BlackBerry Smartphones SMS msgs. logging is no longer in my msg folder.

My Blackberry resets constantly it's self to weird settings.  Last night, it is no longer recording messages sent and received sms. in my MSG folder.  In addition, it does not have a log of the active calls.  Please help, I have tried to go into the options to mess w / it but can not seem to operate.

    Thank you.

You are facing constraints of memory in your device. Perform the following steps-

    1. Give a soft reset by removing the battery for 30 sec.
    2. Check the amount of memory is free in your device to Options -> status -> free memory. To view all aspects of database go to Option -> status -> click on the Menu button and then select the database size
    3. Remove the less frequently used application. To remove go to Options -> Advanced Options -> Applications -> highlight the application you want to delete-> click Menu , and then select Remove
    4. If you stored your image in the memory of the device to move them to your media card

  • BlackBerry Smartphones SMS and MMS Inbox is empty

BB 8520; version of the device software 5.0.0.1067; carrier: ATT

I used the search option to find messages from Twitter, so I could remove them.  Delete messages took several tries, which surprised me.  Version 4 of the software of the device had no problem with this process.

Anyway, my SMS and MMS Inbox now appears to be empty.  I have to search to see my new SMS/MMS messages.

I had already backed up my camera and restored my Inbox TEXT Messages of this backup file, but it won't show any current traffic, a few items that I sent.  I have to do a search to see any current substance.

What should I do to rebuild my SMS Inbox, so I have all my messages again?  Perform a search on every time I receive a new SMS takes too long.

    Thank you.

Check this... on your device go to the main folder of Messages > press Menu > Options.

    There, choose the Inbox settings.

Don't you see the slots check and uncheck it to keep your SMS messages in the main folder, or off to create its own SMS folder? Please tell me what is your school?

I rebooted my phone from TONS of time... is there a way to reset the phone?

It comes from occurring as you face constraints of memory in your device. The low memory manager (LMM) is activated automatically when the flash available on the BlackBerry smartphone memory decreases less than 400 KB. Flash memory is used to store such as Messages, calendar, Contacts, tasks, Notepad BlackBerry smartphone applications and third-party applications.

    Perform the following steps-

    1. Give a soft reset by removing the battery for 30 sec.
    2. Check the amount of memory is free in your device to Options -> status -> free memory. To view all aspects of database go to Option -> status -> click on the Menu button and then select the database size

  • Problem with the blackBerry Smartphones SMS Inbox

I had problems with my Blackberry Torch 9860 sms Inbox.  The time and date that are on my phone are correct, but when I go to my sms Inbox, the date is showing that "May 22, 2043" and each message arrives at "12:08" no matter what time it really is.

    This is an easy fix?

    Thank you!

I ended up remove all the messages of this 'day', so he would not appear in the Inbox and now when I send or receive that he puts the messages in the right time.

I have nothing else it seemed to have settled himself.

  • Problem with blackBerry Smartphones sms text

Someone else had problems like these?  Here's what did my Bb Curve:

For awhile, it was impossible to receive text messages.  I received emails fine, but sms text messages may appear momentarily in the folder and then disappear.  Even if the folder was empty, the signal icon, I got a text message appeared on my desk and would not go away.  MMS messages appeared for a minute or two and can be open, but then disappear mysteriously.  Weird, huh?  When all this was going on, everything moved very slowly on my Bb; for example, I would try to open an e-mail and would wait 30 seconds to a minute while the hourglass icon appears.

But after a few days, the problems went away.  Just before I was about to take my Bb the ATT store, the screen turned white and the words "App Error!" and "Reset" appeared.  I clicked on Reset and after everything is back to normal.  So, a few questions:

    1. What's happening here?

    2. If this happens again, he would work to remove the battery and then replace? Or something else would work?

    Thank you very much!

It is a problem of memory to 100%.

Please mark this as resolved post so that others can find it.

    Thank you

  • BlackBerry Smartphones SMS questions

Hey I got a problem with my Blackberry bold 9700. There are some messages that end up freezing and I am not able to open. And all the other messages that open, when I send an answer that I see it through and sent, but when I go back to the Inbox my message is no longer visible. Messages are permanently in the gel, and so is my folder. I can't scroll upwards or downwards to display messages. No idea how I can solve this problem. Also, I am very new to the blackberry forum and technologically challenged, so please give advise me and directions in a version "Blackberry for Dummies." Thank you!

First of all, try a reboot simple: with the phone smart BlackBerry turned on, remove the battery for a minute and then reinsert the battery to restart.

If this does not it, open your Messages folder, press Menu > folders and access your SMS Inbox and delete the history of this user's SMS. Try to do the same thing in the SMS sending for the same user. Now, do a reboot.

    See if that helps.

Via Vodafone eForum, I was told to drop the zero of my phone contacts list.  This solves the problem.  However, the same list of contacts (with leading zeros) worked well for SMS sending on my previous Blackberry 8800.
