BlackBerry Smartphones stuck on the home screen

The system seems to be stuck on the "Home Screen" (the screen with the background image). You can hold down the blackberry button and it will bring up a menu where I can read my email and make calls (the trackball works here), but I can't choose anything on the home screen or the great list of icons.

Hi and welcome to the Forums!

Each time a random strange behavior or slow creeps, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the hood back and remove the battery. Wait a minute, then replace the battery and cover. Power on and wait patiently through the long reboot - about 5 minutes. See if things return to functioning. Like all computing devices, BB suffers from memory leaks and others... with a hard reboot is the best remedy.

Best!

  • BlackBerry Smartphones icon on the home screen, what is it?

    Have been using my "BOLD" for 4 days now, after the App error reset the problem and "BOLD" magically setting three hours later, I have now this icon to the left of the time indicator on the home screen. The icon is two small circles attached with a small line, looks a bit like this O_O. He appeared and is not in the manual Blackbeery, nobody knows what it is or means. Thank you.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones calendar on the home screen

    I just replaced my curve with the new tour.  Love my curve and now I like the Tour.  On my curve, my menu from the home screen showed:

    Messages

    Calendar

    Call log

    Applications

    Is there a way to show my calendar on the home screen of my turn?  I was not able to find it if there is.  I really like to see my next appts/tasks in the order that they are coming.  As it is, my calendar appts just sound off that something is coming.

    Thanks for any input!

    Dave

    I think it was probably specific to the theme you were using on your curve.  You can check out some of the themes available for the tour as they will provide this feature.  On my tour, I use the standard 'Précision' theme that came with it and it doesn't have this ability... I found for the moment.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones symbol on the home screen

    Hi people

    I have a symbol on my home screen that bears the number 1 next to it and something that looks like the icon of web browser, anyone have an idea how I can remove it. Help, please.

    Missbee

    It's a message to push browser it is yellow.
    If it's blue, it's a WAP push message.

    1. open your main message folder.
    2. press the Menu button (on the left of the trackball).
    3. click on view files.
    4. click on browser Push (or WAP Push Messages) messages.
    5. read or remove the messsage.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones stuck on the loading screen

    Hoping someone can help me solve this problem.  When I turn on my Blackberry (Bold 9700), you get the screen where it shows the whitebar where the phone does... I get about 3/4 of the way through and it just stalls.  I tried to take out the battery for a few minutes and then put everything back with no luck... screen charge again that about 3/4 of the way.  Any idea why this might happen & how do I fix this?  Thank you!!!

    If your BlackBerry is still under tension turned off with a black screen, follow the instructions below. The only indication of life may be the flashing red indicator light in the upper corner. Nothing seems to wake and Desktop Manager does not recognize that a device is connected.

    (1) make sure that you have Blackberry Desktop Manager installed.
    http://NA.BlackBerry.com/eng/services/desktop/
    (2) on your PC, go to start > run and copy and paste the following line exactly (i.e. with quotation marks):

    'c:\program files\common research in motion\apploader\loader.exe' /nojvm

    (3) the Application Loader Wizard will appear - click on "next".
    (4) in the ' connection: ' drop-down menu, you should see "USB - PIN: UNKNOWN". Click on the button "next".
    (5) you should see a list of applications ready to be installed for your Blackberry. Press Next and finish, and that you are well on your way to get your Blackberry to life. Just unplug and let the process finish completely.

    NOTE: If you do not display the list of applications mentioned in step 5 and instead to see the message "the Blackberry Desktop Software has no Blackberry Device Software for the device you have connected to the computer. Contact your wireless service provider or system administrator', then you must download the Blackberry operating system for your support and your device.
    http://www.BlackBerryFAQ.com/index.php/BlackBerry_Operating_System_Downloads
    Just select the appropriate type of carrier and network, select your Blackberry model from the list and download the latest version. Install this download and follow the steps above again and you should be on the right track.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones can set the home screen to display all icons and don't go into the Favorites, Media, downloads etc.?

    I just got a Bold 9780 and that's fine except that when I try to access the icon I want, I keep accidentally swipe the screen in a different position, he's going to 'All' in 'Favorites', 'Media', "downloads,"Frequent"then back to 'All'. My only previous, 9700, just had all the icons on the screen and did not have these alternative schemes. I find it quite disconcerting and want to fix to display ALL icons of all time. Cannot find how to do this.

    I know what you mean.  You can do this in OS7, but I think not only its available with OS6

  • Vista stuck on the home screen, impossible to connect

    The problem came from last night after that my computer had a blue screen and proceeded to do some sort of system dump or something like that. Subsequently, I have been unable to connect to one of the five accounts on the computer because it stuck to the home screen after clicking on the account. The little blue circle would continue forever. The computer works fine in safe mode, but I tried a clean boot with MSCONFIG and it still doesn't work. Any ideas? In addition, CTRL + ALT + DELETE DO NOT solve the problem.

    Follow these steps to try to solve your problems of boot.

    Restore point:

    http://www.howtogeek.com/HOWTO/Windows-Vista/using-Windows-Vista-system-restore/

    Do the restore of the system in Safe Mode, you cannot do it in Normal Mode.

    Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.

    Try a restore of the system once, to choose a Restore Point prior to your problem...

    Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore > choose another time > next > etc.

    http://www.windowsvistauserguide.com/system_restore.htm

    Read the above for a very good graph shows how backward more than 5 days in the System Restore Points by checking the correct box.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    If restore work not and you do not have a Vista DVD from Microsoft, do a repair disc to do a Startup Repair:
    Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.
    When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.
    Link above shows what the process looks like and a manual, it load the repair options.
It cannot be used to install or reinstall Windows Vista, and is just a Windows PE interface to recovering your PC. Technically, we could re-create this installation with downloadable media media freely from Microsoft (namely the Microsoft WAIK, several gigabyte download); but it is pretty darn decent of Microsoft to present Windows users who might not be able to create such a thing on their own.
    It's a very good Vista startup repair disk.
    You can do a system restart tool, system, etc it restore.
    It is NOT a disc of resettlement.
  • BlackBerry smartphones how get torch home screen just show no apps when the menu bar is closed?
    Please bear with me, I'm struggling with how to explain cela ha ha!
    On the homescreen torch, you tap the 'all' downstairs bar to view the full menu. When you touch the bar once again it closes the application menu.
    When I got the torch the menu, when closed, displays only a row of 4 applications (SMS, browser, etc.) but I must have pressed something without knowing or changed a setting if it showed no apps at all, when I closed the menu. I preferred this as I love the home screen just show the background on the phone and not cluttered.
    However, it has changed back recently and is now showing TWO rows of apps now not even one! and cannot for the life of figure me out how to change it back?
    Thanks to all who help!
    Simply touch and drag down to the bottom of the screen. You will then see just the arrow ^ (you can change this way of 0 to 3 lines of icons). Then, when you tap on the bar with the arrow, you will get your full screen, the icons back.
  • BlackBerry Z10 save on the home screen does not not after restoring
    Hello
    My Z10 was stolen last week, fortunately I did a backup of a few days before. I bought an other Z10 now restored my backup for it and everything seemed to go very smoothly. Until I tried to save a url from the browser to the home screen.
    The process seems to go normally, except that the icon never appears on the home screen. Savings in the form of bookmarks URL works, but I want to save some to the homescreen lke I used to be able to do.
    I met other Z10 owners who have the same problem after doing a restore and have not been able to find a solution.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you
    It works!
    Do you have a factory reset, restored my backup again and this time it worked. The only thing that was different was a new (released some time this afternoon) update link to BB.
    I don't know if re-restoration has fixed the problem or update link BB before the re - restore the fixed. Although my "instinct" is that the link BB update has solved, because all my "home screen" shortcuts also reappear (they were absent after the first attempt).
  • BlackBerry Smartphones SMS on the main screen
    Hello. Is it possible I can get sms messages to show in the messages on the main screen please
    Do you hear an overview of the SMS as on the old theme today found at a little mature Pluss? Or simply move the SMS folder so its on the home screen?
    If the latest - press the menu button and select the SMS folder - press the menu button again and select move then use the trackpad to move the icon so its on the top row of icons.
  • BlackBerry Smartphones and five icons home screen - I am very confused
    Just got a 8520 on AT & T. My "home screen" is made up of the intensity of the signal icon, icon of Wi - Fi, time and Date in the upper part, the SSID of the network I can be connected to, indicator battery and profile - this is at the top of the screen.
    At the bottom of the screen are 6 icons and somehow they all ended up to be the message profile that I put in place, so it's ok. IF I hit the Menu button, I get the rest of the icons/folders in a 6 X by matrix. That's ok too; I can easily move icons in this area, em file within the application files, replace ONE of the 6 icons at the bottom of the screen.
    IF I press THE MENU BUTTON AND hold pressed JUST a MORE HAIR THAN NORMAL - and this is the background of my question - between the icons on the top screen and the low screen (6) icons, I get a 'bar' with 5 icons random orientation, that is, I don't know how or why they are there.
    I've seen posts here and elsewhere - I assume "crackberry" is a term of Endearment between users? -people having problems with their "darlings" and I wonder if this could be what I see, a favorite bar. IF this is the case, can someone please tell me how I can or IF I can place the icons I want in this bar of the home screen mysterious (to me)?
    And just FYI, it is up-to-date in its software revision. As soon as I got the Desktop installed software he wanted until the software so...
    Thanks in advance.
    These icons you see are the applications running on your phone. There are 5 that are always on and running in background: browser, phone, home screen, Messenger of BB and Messages.
    If you have other applications running, they will automatically appear here.
    As for the 6 icons at the botom of your home screen, here 1 6 icons you see when you hit the key BB (not pressed, simply by pressing once). You can move any icons you want in these 1st 6 positions so that these applications can be reached easily from your home screen.
    Hi abucci1990
    Do you have a previous backup of your device, because to recover your device from this current situation you lose data within your device, try the steps to recover your device from this current situation:
    (Credit JSanders)
    There are two methods for recovering for you to try:
    One:
    • Open Blackberry Desktop Software & connect your device with the PC using the USB cable, without inserting the battery.
    • You have three Retry option, update or cancel, and then click Update.
    • Once it is at the stage of the "initialization of pocket" update, then insert the batteries.
    • If this does not work, and you get stuck on the safeguarding of social data feeds, go to the second method below.
    Second:
    • Start your BlackBerry in safe mode.  Article ID: KB17877 how to start a mode BlackBerry smartphone without failurehttp://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB17877
    • Connect to the BlackBerry Desktop Software and allow handheld to connect. If you are prompted to update, cancel the upgrade for later.
    • IF you can not connect or your desktop software does not recognize your device in Mode safe, please follow the instructions here to force detection: Article ID: KB10144 how to force detect the BlackBerry smartphone using the Application Loader
    • Go to device > delete > SELECT DATA > select this option to remove the Social flow and smart card data bases and follow the rest invites you to complete.
    • Now, you can go back and click to update the device through the Desktop Manager, or restart the BlackBerry in normal mode and continue on the upgrade of the air.
