blank or corrupted photos after importing

Hello

I have just started taking a Lightroom Craftsy.com class. (I use Lightroom 4.4).

The instructor we traveled the best settings in the preferences. (i.e., ProRGB, 16-bit).

I then created a new catalog and imported (RAW and jpeg) photos from my memory card. Once the photos have been imported, after a minute or two, I started to notice that some of them are turning white or striped with color. My instructor said that it must be a bad card or reader. I replaced both but the problem persists. When I right click on my photos damaged in my catalog and choose Edit in Photoshop CS6, damage are also there in Photoshop.

However, when I look at the original photos on the hard drive, they are very well.

My instructor suggested to uninstall and reinstall Lightroom. I did and it does not work.

I also went back in and changed my presets to default color label. No chance here no more.

Can someone help me with this?

Here are 2 screenshots:

Thanks in advance!

Joan

Although I hope that you have indeed solved the problem, I would like to point out that I agree with what others have said.

This isn't a software problem, the cause of these issues and therefore update your software or the firmware of your camera is not just going to help.

It is a hardware problem. Somewhere between the capture of the image to the screen by Lightroom or Photoshop, a piece of hardware is defective because of these problems. It could be something from the card from camera to hard drive or memory, and you will have to troubleshoot every piece of hardware, one by one, until you can isolate the problem.

  • Missing Photos after importation of Aperture

    Hello!

I did just the opening switch to Lightroom and I use version 1.1 of the plugin import Aperture.

I have in my Aperture library, according to library-> Photos: Photos of 11105, however after import in Lightroom, I only 10967 photos. I checked the import log and there are 4 items that could import - 3 were files .mpo (panoramas of a xPeria) and 1 was a .gif file. That leaves a deficit of 133 photos that I can't explain.

Is it possible to compare the aperture library to the lightroom library to see what is missing?

Hope you find your system developed problems.

I ended up exporting from successful to referenced.  First of all, I collapsed all of my folders nested in a single folder in Aperture, and then exported using a personal file FOLDER/PROJECT format, where the record was of the year, or the YEAR in JAPAN, where I had several nested projects.  Fast forward after the conversion, I then re-nested folder structure.

After you export all the photos of successful to referenced, I then used all the normal gymnastics in the opening to make sure that all images have been exported and 'online '.  About 15 were not, then I need to resolve these differences, which included duplicate references, mainly.  Once exported, I generated previews.  You're not dealing with previews, so I'll spare you the even longer discussion about how I needed to account for them.  In light of all of the files are external, it is easier to determine which files have not been imported into Lightroom.  I didn't have an anomaly.

Make sure you don't have duplicate keywords!  I thought I had, but due to the nature of nested keywords, I had a few references duplicated as 'portrait', I had used to mark the initial orientation of the photo, as well as the keyword Aperture stock.  Made a mess of things later.

Despite the hardships, even in running through the entire library before, I found myself running out of memory AND problems with the GPS.  I ended up using HoudahGeo to create files sidecar with GPS of opening data prior to importation.  After trying everything, I used a dark suggestion to run import on a build of Mac OS X instead of 10.10.3 10.9.4.  That seemed to do the trick.

A lot of things to clean up afterwards, but I can just leave it as what.  Wish that the faces are exportable now that Lightroom supports the faces, but I won't hold my breath.  Appears opening Adobe plug-in development is concluded.  Tens of thousands of assignments in Aperture.

Also sad to lose settings, but at least I have the keyword each parameter before exporting.

Almost all of the work must be done in the opening before the transition.  You watch just how flexible and versatile opening is still today.

Always curious to know how you will manage your conversion, so please keep posting!

  • Lightroom does not display the photo after importation.

Currently, there are 3 pictures in a folder.  I saved two more in this folder with photoshop CC

at a time in tiff and psd format.  I imported as usual, but the photos are not displayed in the "library" window

If I try to import the pictures are greyed out, as if they were already listed.

I found the problem.  The photos have been duplicated and in another place where they should not have been.  I did a search all photos and thought it was them.  Once I knew it was easy to fix.  Thanks for the suggestion though.

  • How to remove photos after importing?

I am very new to Lightroom 5.  Immediately I imported all my photos of the "Images of Mu" and then taken from a tutorial that I could implement "name" to add that I imported.  How can I remove them so that I can re - import with the naming function implemented?

Nothing is physically imported. LR5 has links to the images on your hard drive.

  • After importing the photos

I have several weird questions.  Firstly, my computer unplugged and died in the middle to start editing a series of photos after importing (I import using the option 'Copy').  Once I plugged the computer back in and open to new Lightroom, I got the error message there was a problem displaying my previews.  I tried to restart the program, and that didn't help. I tried restarting the computer and that did not work. Then I checked the forums and people told to remove the preview folder.  I did and Lightroom is finally open.  I tried to re - import the photos that I needed to edit because they are no longer there, but then I get the message "there is no picture to import" even if it's picture still in my computer and the disk, they came.  I don't know why when I imported the photos once, I can't do it a second time to change again.  Help!  I need to edit these photos!

If Lightroom import them it means that really, they are already in your library. You may need to search for them. Just run a search for filename in the filter in case of «all photographs» bar If you still can't find not just imported with "don't import suspected duplicates" unchecked (in the file tab on the right of handling).

  • photos version 1.5 "delete after import" is no longer an option

Can someone tell me where the option of deleting the photos after the importation of the iphone is spent in the latest version? I can take more than 100 photos per day for work and remove them manually from the phone after import is a major pain in the *.

    Thank you

He did not go - when you connect the front phone import you can check the deletion after import box to the right of the phone in the picture source list

However it is not a workflow recommended as an inappropriate phone accident or the Mac may lose pictures - it is much better import and make sure that the photos are safe and that at least a complete backup cycle and then use Image Capture to remove

  • What is happening in the original file of the photo when I import it in Photos and I have the "Delete after import" box checked?

What is happening in the original file of the photo when I import it in Photos and I have the "Delete after import" box checked?

When organizing photos for Photos for Mac app, I find that the Photos makes "copies" of files within the library of Photos and must reference a file if your settings are such that you do not copy the original files in the Photos app.

Trying to manage the disk space for the Macbook Pro.

The delete after import is available only when you import a device - a camera, card, an iPhone, but not when you import files from a folder on the system drive.

You can delete the local image files of your system drive yourself, once you have imported the Photos and they were copied in the photo library.

I would never use the option "delete after Import. The files will be deleted until you can check if the files have been imported correctly. If you find out later, that some of the imported files are corupted and illegible, it will be repeated o toolate import, because the files have been deleted from the device. Or worse, if pictures should plant a reason any during the import, all the pictures will be lost, if you have enabled "delete after import.

  • "Remove item after importation" of Photos is activate but failed to import! Both devices (iPhone and Macbook) have no pictures!

I'm trying to import my photos iPhone Macbook pro, I activate the function "delete after import" photos.

However, the process fails, and both devices have no pictures I selected.

How could I come back all these pictures?

This is exactly why it is not recommended to never delete after import: always wait at least a backup has not completed

    What happened exactly?

Depending on what happened, you might be able to recover the photos by launching Photos while holding down command and iptin keys and repair the database - which does not then you will need recovery software as media recover http://freshcrop.com/photo-recovery/image-recovery-software-for-apple/

I have an iPhone 6 Plus. I don't sync them to iTunes library pictures, I just plug my phone from time to time and load all my photos in the Photos app and check the box to delete after import. • Deleting photos on an iPhone 6 after importing Photos

I used 6 (iOS 9.2.1) photos to import photos from my iPhone but can't seem to delete them from my phone because I'm running out of space. I can't find an option in Photos for me to do. I use iCloud library but tired of receiving messages telling me I am out of space and need to buy more. I was using the iPhone Optimize Storage option, so when I try to turn off iCloud, he tells me I'm losing photos. I guess that it space to store all of the photos uploaded to iCloud original is much more than the space I have left on my phone. So why would I back up my photos to a photo library. Yes, I could go through frame by frame making sure that they are all there, but there are more than 2500 and would prefer to delete automatically the picures copied after importation. Make sense?

Import Photos Panel has a check "Remove items after importing" below the toolbar. If you enable this, before importing items, they will be automatically deleted.

You don't see this check box, because you have activated on your iPhone photo library iCloud.  As long as you use iCloud photo library, the Mac cannot delete the photos, because they are stored in iCloud and only mirrored on your iPhone.

"Remove items after importation" is to risk anyway. I would not use this option. First, it is safer to check if the import was successful before deleting the photos from the iPhone.  Sometimes it happens that photos will be removed from the device, even if the import was not successful.

So why would I back up my photos to a photo library. Yes, I could go through frame by frame making sure that they are all there, but there are more than 2500 and would prefer to delete automatically the picures copied after importation. Make sense?

Since all the pictures are in the library of iCloud, download them by creating a new library of Photos on your Mac and enable it in your library to iCloud.  It will download all photos in iCloud.

You are you sure, that all the photos are safely on your Mac, disable iCloud photo library on your iPhone.  Then you can connect the iPhone to a USB port and use Image Capture to remove all the photos from the iPhone.

You can also download pictures from iCloud by using the web interface of your iCloud to www.icloud.com account.  Launch the Photos.app on this page and select the photos to download.

  • Remove photos from the iphone after import

Hi, I'm new on this but I can't find an answer by reading the previous posts.

I always was able to import my photos and click the button "erase after importing" and my photos would be removed from my phone, but recently it tells me there is an error during this operation and the pictures are still on my phone using a lot of memory. Anyone know why this feature no longer works? I'm really not what although it is complicated with my pc, everything is usually automatically when I plug in my phone. Can someone give advice?

    Thank you

You have iCloud library enabled on the iPhone? (in settings > iCloud > Photos & camera)?

So you can't delete photos from the iPhone, because they are actually stored in iCloud and only in reverse on the iPhone.

Disable the iCloud photo library, if you want to download the pictures manually by USB.  But be sure, that optimize storage is disabled and all the pictures were downloaded again icloud before disabling iCloud photo library.
