Blue LEDs on the front too clear on Satellite Pro U300

Is it possible to lower the blue LEDs on the front of the Pro Satellite U 300 a bit? Power supply, HARD drive, etc. - I find them very distracting in a dimly lit room.
Thank you.

No, there no way to do it. But what about Sun ;)

  • When the capacity of the battery falls Satellite Pro U300 occasionally lose power

    Hello

I suspect you have a defective battery (standard installed on the laptop) on my new Satellite Pro U300 - 11 k and I wonder if someone had a similar problem.
When the power drops to 10%, my laptop occasionally loses power. In the range of less than 7% capacity always loses power, i.e. either fails to start the hibernation, or is unable to complete the process (I can always tell if power was lost during hibernation because of the characteristic of the system of protection HD sound). I did several tests, especially in the power saving mode. "High performance" mode power seems to be a little more reliable, but still fails to shut down less than 5% of the capacity. The level of Hibernate by default on the Toshiba Windows Vista pack is as low as 2%, so I can wait until it is able to work at this level.

Overall the battery capacity is about 1 h (Media Player, fashion high performance, maximum intensity) at all about 2 to 2.5 hours (slowed or text editor, mode, brightness low power saving). Charging time is about 1 hour (seems too short). They are difficult to objectively assess that Toshiba avoids quoting the specifications of the battery, but I consider the question of the reliability of the above as being a serious (do not want to take the risk of damaging the HD). I am considering visiting the service center, but leaving both the computer and the battery with them would be a nuisance for me and I would rather avoid it if I can. I wonder if I can claim the warranty on the battery alone?

    Any suggestions would be welcome.

    Background information:
-The U300 is a few weeks old.
-The battery has been fully charged and discharged (approximately 15 times since purchase).
    -Cooldown takes 1 h - 1.5hrs
    -J' using Vista Business
-J' went through the power settings to make sure they are ok and to change threshold levels
-I am an experienced business user, I use a laptop computer at work which stops always perfectly to the power level of 3%

    Thanks for help

Reading your post, I do see no battery issues! Everything you say is right and not a malfunction.
Please note that the Vista operating system needs much more computing resources and the battery is much more emphasized running Vista!

Please also note that the level and time to discharge the battery can be different! Everything depands of the use of the laptop!
All the portable devices and parts waste the power of the battery at the same time and that's why there are differences in the discharge procedure.

Don t be afraid and take advantage of your laptop but if you think you will need to contact the ASP in order to clarify this issue, then feel free to contact service technician.
They should be able to help you.

  • How can I turn on/off the blue LEDs on the Satellite A100?

    Hello

Does anyone know how to turn the blue LEDs under the touchpad? They are very nice, but when I go to sleep they light a lot and it is a small problem. Maybe someone can help me or suggest something else.
    Thanks for any answers

    Emil

    Hey Buddy,

You can't turn them off. If you really want that you would have to reprogram the BIOS. And to do this, you must be a Toshiba engineer and a lot of experience with the low level hardware programming.

You can also stick the tape on the lights. :)

    That is my suggestion.

  • Satellite Pro U300 (PSU31E) - freezes on the Welcome screen

    Hi all

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro U300 model no notebook 01900REN PSU31E purchased as new and connected to Windows XP.

It worked perfectly fine for about a year until very recently when it started freezing on blue welcome screen. I had to disconnect the battery because it has not proceeded past the blue welcome screen. I ran the antivirus avast but it nothing of the detected note. Now even when I disconnect and reconnect the battery the screen does not go beyond the Welcome screen blue even if the mouse is moved again, and occasionally the pointer arrow-pointer to sand-clock pointer initially and then rest as arrow-pointer changes. Pressing buttons, Ctrl + Alt + Delete, using the mouse or the battery are not any good.

I backed up things but not until recently. Please help me, I'm an amateur like these sorts of things, I'm English teacher from teaching professional so I really need materials and capabilities of the laptop. What should I do, please help!

    Thanking you in advance,

    Hey the view,.

Have you tried the same thing in safe mode? Go to the advanced boot menu by pressing F8, select Safe mode.
    Check it!

It of really difficult to say why this is happening but if it doesn t work I think that it s time to reinstall Windows. So take the Toshiba Recovery disk and boot from it. If you follow the instructions on the screen you get factory in minutes! :)

    > Another small problem that was Watch not remember brightness for battery mode.

Please don't be angry with me, but first I would not talk about problems if you use Linux on the Toshiba laptop. Is that Linux is not supported and that's why some features of laptops may not work properly.

    About the light battery;
The LEDs are controlled by the BIOS. As you know the laptop was running Vista and so the BIOS support for Vista.
As I said above, if you use another OS like XP or possibly Linux so some features may not work properly.

  • Re: Is my Win XP too old for Satellite Pro L20

    Hi guys

This is the first time on a forum, so please be nice.
I'm trying to re - install the OS on my toshiba Satellite Pro L20 and chipset specifications requires:

Windows * XP 5.10.2600 (original version)

I have Windows XP home 2002 which seems to be 5.1.2600.

I've never done this before and I'm trying to rebuild the laptop for my father in law to use.

My version of windows is too old for this? I have an error message asking me to check the system requirements in the readme file

    Thank you

No, it is certainly not too old ;)

Maybe your XP disk contains SP2 or other patches, but it's not really bad.
You can update everything after installing Windows.

After installing windows, you could install the Toshiba drivers that you might find on the European driver Toshiba page.
http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-> support download &-> download drivers

Please note; You should also research * Archives * area the driver page if you won't find anything in field of laptops

    Hello

In your case I would uninstall the Realtek LAN driver.
Can I visit the Realtek and download and reinstall the latest LAN driver.

In addition, in the DOS command window, you can try to run this command:

  • Satellite Pro U300 - the broken LCD screen

    Hi all

My first post please bare with me.

I have a Satellite Pro U300, who has a broken LCD screen.
I have a replacement screen, but not sure how to go abouts it change places.

Someone at - it a service manual for this model or the tricks and tips on how to disassemble the unit to swap the LCD broke with a new one?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The service manual can be downloaded. It s not for the public and it s only for Toshiba and approved providers available I think.
On the Toshiba site, you can download the user manual, but I doubt it would be useful for you.

I think the best way would be if you go to an authorized service provider. The exchange of the LCD is a little tricky and you should have experience with this.
On the Toshiba site, you can search for an ASP. I m sure that the technicians will help you. ;)

  • Can not install the latest driver from Intel on my Satellite Pro U300-10 display

    Hello

Intel has recently, a new display driver, which I think is useful to me because it won't let me play games that require:
    Pixel Shader PS1.1
    Vertex Shader VS 1.0
    "Act of war" and others.

The pilot is the revision of the pilot: 15.12.4.1666, March 5, 2009
It is supossed to be the latest driver for the video card U300: MOBILE INTEL 965 Express chipset family.

The problem is that when I try to install, I have an error that says: "not for this system, ask your provider manufacturer.

How can I install or where I could find the solution?

I have TOSHIBA Satellite Pro U300-10 with Windows Vista Business 32.

Drivers designed for laptops are changed and adapted to provide performance fairly, but not to force a graphics card to run on the limit. As you probably know there are big difference between office and mobile graphics cards.

Desktop graphics cards have no limits with cooling and drivers can be updated very often. Design of portable computers is completely different and all hardware components are placed on the square. The common problem with laptops is to design the system of cooling, small but effective.
Because of all these reasons, display drivers must be tested and adapted by the laptop manufacturers. The main point is to protect the material. The same situation is with other manufacturers of graphics card. They don't offer drivers for laptops.

If your graphics card will blow that will be responsible for this Toshiba or Intel?

By the way: Satellite Pro U300 is for me a laptop of small business and certainly not designed for games. Do you agree with me?

  • Satellite Pro U300: Cannot see the HARD drive during the installation of XP

Due to the restrictions of the network must downgrade the operating system on a new satellite Pro U300. I am unable to run the XP + sp2 cd as it says there is no hard drive installed on the machine. I guess it's because I need 3 scsi drivers or third-party raid.

Does anyone have these or know a place where I can get my hands on them? Or am I completely off the mark that you have another solution?

    Hello

You need the Intel Matrix Storage Management utility for the management of your local storage, including the RAID support.

On the European driver Toshiba page I found Robson tea for Vista package which includes the Intel Matrix Storage Management utility.

The same can be downloaded from the Intel page for the XP operating system.

I found this on the page of Intel:
    http://Downloadcenter.Intel.com/Filter_Results.aspx?strTypes=all&ProductID=2101&OS FullName = Windows * + XP + Professional & lang = eng & strOSs = 44 & submit = Go %21

  • Satellite Pro U300 PSU31E - two how to adjust the fan speed

While using the laptop the fan comes in for a few seconds and then stops again, which causes the temperature
    increase... what makes the fan?
Throttle upward rather than stay in a slow to medium status.

I'm running Vista Business, but I did ' t find the parameters in this regard.

In the ACPI BIOS is not accessible, but as already posted my problem looks a bit like this:

Re: ACPI fan on Satellite L30
    Posted the: 13-Sep-2007 22:08 reply

The fan goes in cycles like this:
    ------------------
    Less than 50, fan
When > 55, fan to full
    When< 55,="" fan="" on="">
    When< 50,="" fan="" off="">
    and it continues

    ------------------

It would be much better than when he went to more than 50 years she just spend on bass, then
It would never reach 55 and never go up.
And the laptop would be 100 x more silent.

Another thing: the Germany from Toshiba support page won't load at all or is the global page
very slow, using different locations and conections. That I can not retrieve all the information to help me.
And I do not think the University backbone or my DSL 6 Mbps at home is the problem

    Hello

The fans begin to turn only if a certain temperature point has been reached.
These fan table information is stored in the BIOS and cannot be changed.

Some computers laptops satellite supports an additional option in the Toshiba HWSetup. It allows to change the CPU dynamically switchable or always low frequency mode.
This would set the temperature to a lower level and the fans would lead occasionally.

In any case, to my knowledge, this option is not available in the Toshiba HWSetup and not in the BIOS so I guess that it s not possible to control fan behavior.

By the way; If you wish, you can test a tool like aSpeedFanfreeware.
This program can control the speed of the fans according to the temperatures of the system.
Maybe it will work on your Satellite Pro U300

  • How to remove the password of BIOS on Satellite Pro A120?

I have a Satellite Pro with a system password, when I started, I asked Mr. password I was its power off for over a year now, because the number 9 key was stuck in position, so I couldn't even try to type a password.

Two days ago, I've corrected the keyboard. Now the system will just to the point where it asks for a password but I don't know anymore, I tried more than 40 passwords I've used in my past.

So I ve open. Removed the battery during the night. no use. I've read on this forum about the keydisk, parallel dongle. Don t have a parallel port, or floppy disk. I also read another post on this forum about a brand under the RAM that needs to be grounded and I found no such thing.

can someone help me please? There must be a jumper on the motherboard as well.

The system is a Toshiba Satellite Pro A120

    Hi Rob

I know that you are so happy to pay for it. Friend of mine has paid 60 Euros for the removal of the BIOS password.
Anyway, please believe me you can not do anything alone. Sascha is right when he wrote about the different ways for the removal of the password and your model has the worst. I mean it can't be deleted so easy.

Your laptop uses a sort, I'll call him, code stimulus / response. Service must send a code specific to the seat and wait for the response code. If the code matches the code deleted challenge the BIOS password cvan.

Thus, there is no way to be removed from your own.
