    You start with a chkdsk/r from the XP Recovery Console.

    Here's how:

    If you have no XP bootable media (or aren't sure you have) create a bootable XP Recovery CD of Console and do not forget.

    This is not the same as recovery disks that may have come to a store to purchase the system.

    You can make a bootable Recovery Console CD by downloading an ISO file and burn it to a CD.

    The ISO bootable image file you need to download is called:

    xp_rec_con. ISO

    It would be a good idea to test your bootable CD on a computer running.

    You may need to adjust the computer BIOS settings to use the CD-ROM drive as the first device to boot instead of the hard drive.  These adjustments are made before Windows tries to load.  If you miss it, you will need to restart the system again.

    When you start on the CD, follow the instructions:

    Press any key to boot from CD...

    Installing Windows... going to pronounce.

    Press 'R' to enter the Recovery Console.

    Select the installation that you want to access (usually 1: C:\WINDOWS)

    You may be asked to enter the password (usually empty).

    You should be in the folder C:\WINDOWS.  It's the same as the

    C:\Windows folder that you see in Solution Explorer.

    A good idea before you start things must first verify the integrity of your file system by using the chkdsk command.

    In the command prompt window, run the chkdsk command on the drive where Windows is installed to try to fix any problems on the afflicted player.

    Running chkdsk is fine, even if he finds no problem.  It won't hurt anything to run it.

    Assuming your boot drive is C, run the following command:

    CHKDSK C: /r

    Let chkdsk finish to correct the problems, he could find.

This log file or minidump file is saved in the subdirectory of Windows Minidump (C:\Windows\MiniDump).     Since the MS Answers forum does not prompt for any information system when a new question is asked, we know absolutely nothing about your system.  This makes troubleshooting difficult unless you like to try things.

    All the Microsoft Engineers do sometimes (most of the time) is just use the Bing search engine to see what happens to your error message and publish the first Microsoft KB article that appears in the search engine Bing (try it yourself and you will get the article sent you the MSE - which is unlikely to help all).  Who is troubleshooting not, is it?

    Did you take a glance at this KB article?  It's a bit overwhelming, and it requires you to have an XP installation CD and if you have one, it better be the same Service Pack as your Service Pack installed or things will go back.  However, the MSE was using the word "try" and that does not sound very confident for me-, but feel free to try.

    If you sometimes get only the BSOD, you provide a us with more information about your system and use something like BlueScreenView to see if you can understand what is underway.

    If the faulty startup repair, then try to run a disk check.

    Note: When you run the disk check, there are chances of losing data if you can take a backup before starting the checkdisk.

    a. Insert the installation disc.

    b. restart your computer.

    c. click on the Start button, click the arrow next to the button lock and then click on restart. If you are prompted, press any key to start Windows from the installation disc.

    Updated drivers, BIOS and software control (if any) is a good idea.

    This is my generic how updates of appropriate driver:

    For drivers, visit manufacturer of emergency system and of the manufacturer of the device that are the most common.
    Control Panel - device - Graphics Manager - note the brand and complete model
    your video card - double - tab of the driver - write version information. Now, click on update
    Driver (this can do nothing as MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then right-click.
    Uninstall - REBOOT it will refresh the driver stack.

    Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard if 3rd party
    with their own software and drivers and all other main drivers that you have.

    Now in the system manufacturer (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) site (in a restaurant), peripheral
    Site of the manufacturer (Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get their latest versions. (Look for
    BIOS, Chipset and software updates on the site of the manufacturer of the system here.)

    Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN - reset after each
    installation.

    Always check in the Device Manager - drivers tab to be sure the version you actually install
    presents itself. This is because some restore drivers before the most recent is installed (sound card drivers
    in particular that) so to install a driver - reboot - check that it is installed and repeat as
    necessary.

    Repeat to the manufacturers - BTW on device at the DO NOT RUN THEIR SCANNER - manually check by model.

    Method 1:

    I suggest you to follow these steps and check if it works. You must insert the Windows 8 installation media disc to perform this task:

    a. boot the disk of Windows 8 Preview Release (if you haven't done one, you can find the download of the ISO file to create a disc on page of Windows 8 . You will need to use another computer to do. Make sure that you create the disc of the version appropriate, x 86 or x 64, depending on your current operating system build).

    b. click on repair your computer.

    c. click Troubleshooting , and then selectAdvanced Options.

    d. click on auto repair.

    e. follow the onscreen instructions and complete the repair.

    Method 2:

    I suggest to insert Windows 8 Preview Release installation media and then follow these instructions:

    a. click on repair your computer.

    b. click Troubleshooting , and then selectAdvanced Options.

    c. click on command prompt and type the following commands and pressenter after each command:

    Bootrec /fixmbr

    Bootrec /fixboot

    Bootrec /rebuildbcd

    d. restart the computer.

    e. check if the problem persists.

  • Windows 7 Blue - screen error Code Stop: 0x0000007f

    My name is Carl. As in the last three days, I had some breakdowns in the system. This happens almost every time when I'm either trying to surf the web, play music or movies or you try to run a game. Usually what happens is that after a few minutes (sometimes after an hour) the execution of a program, or go on the internet, the computer starts a crashdump and gives me the following stop error message:

    0x0000007f (0 x 0x00000000000406f8, 0 x 0000000000000008, 0000000080050031, 0xfffff800028d3314)

    Usually after the dump, the computer will lock up and does not restart force me to manually stop the system. I have already contacted Dell Support and we did the following in the order listed:

    Diagnosis of memory - no error found

    Replace the video drivers by Dell remote control

    Clean reinstall of Windows 7, with new partitions

    Individually checked Memory sticks (2x2gb ddr3) - twice broken computer

    Dell believes that the memory stick may be deffective but I was looking for a second opinion because the computer has run exceptionally well on Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium since on mid November when it has been upgraded. Is this a hardware problem? What do you think I should do to fix this? It is an emergency because I'm taking two online courses and I'd hate to have an accident while taking a test. Thank you very much for you time and patience.

    The error you receive a UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP (BugCheck 7F), more referencing the netio.sys is probably of ZoneAlarm.

    There can be a clash between ZoneAlarm drivers and drivers Windows such as reported in the following thread:

    If he was thrown to the ground before this problem, then it is a possibility.  You may have a repair shop, check the hardware and run provided by your manufacturer diagnostic utilities.

    Also, we often see accidents as a result of a program from loading at startup.

    I get the blue screen of death (0000008e error code) each time I restart.  I ran an analysis of the system from the command line and it has not found something wrong.  What's next?

    Don't forget on a new machine you change more they will claim that it is something that you did.

    0x00000008 may be one video (or other) driver, but it is often from memory or other hardware incompatibility
    questions. Since this is a new machine I invite you to participate in their support and not just less of
    their attachment completely. Don't just put in place with this intermittently as it will get worse.

    Here are a few ways to possibly fix the blue screen issue. If you could give the info from the blue screen that would be
    Help. Such as ITC and 4 others entered at the bottom left. And any other information such as STOP error
