  I don't have the recovery CD anymore but I am trying to boot from the CD with a CD of Windows XP and I changed the priority to boot from CD first in the BIOS and it always displays this message... Help, please!

  Enter the BIOS settings and set its default value. Then try to boot up your laptop and check what happens. Also try to boot from CD/DVD installations. If the problem continues, I'm afraid there is a hardware problem devices such as HDD and ODD are not visible to the BIOS settings.

  I assume it can be due to faulty hardware or faulty controller on the motherboard.

• Sectors defective HARD drive on the Qosmio F60 series

  For about the last 6 months, I struggled to determine what was causing crashes repeated on slowdown on my Qosmio F60, which was aged under 2 months.

  Unfortunately I am currently not in the country of purchase and don't have an international warranty. I had to reinstall the entire operating system and all the software used (think the or not!) more than 6 times.

  Finally, I installed Norton Ghost 15.0 to be able to avoid reinstalling again and back up important data. When you use Norton Ghost I had to run chkdsk /r on the hard drive and now the real problem surfaced.

  This machine had a hard drive which behaved as if it was very old. Continous bad sectors where being generated. Which means that I had to replace the so-called new hard drive.

  What I want now is the specifications for the internal hard drive. for Qosmio F60 14 R machines. Because I don't have a domestic guarantees, I would rather replace the drive myself, than to hire a service charge.

• Pink vertical line in the center of the screen on the Qosmio G series

  Seems to be the LCD hardware problem as line is not there if the external monitor used. It's the second LCD for this device that is 2.5 years, and that the heat sink problem inherent in the original design of this PC has reportedly been fixed. Speakers begin to produce comments if the volume at least halfway or more, probably because of earlier heat sink problem. In any case, the position of Toshiba is they fixed twice for 'free', and my position is that a cell phone $3,800 2.5 - year-old, should have not yet set.

  My question is (and I couldn't get a straight answer from the Toshiba customer support person I just spoke with): how to order a new LCD screen for a Qosmio G15 - Toshiba R, and how much it will cost?   I'm sorry that you had so bad experience with your machine, I had a lot of probs with my tecra S4 also, but they fixed no problem. I think it has something with the repair center to do, where you´re, giving your machine for repair.

  My machine was in 3 service centers (!), and only the last two have been able to solve my problem. (They were two separate probs, one of them was my fault--> chianti on my keyboard :()

  So, if you need a new panel you must not place your order to toshiba. You can also order a new Panel or used in some onlineshops spare parts.

  I Don t know if you've ever watched, it seems you didn t, otherwise won´t you write here.
  It would be interesting what machine you have exactly, maybe I can help you find a new Panel for a specific price ;)

• Impossible to get bluetooth to work on the satellite a series

  When I bought my laptop it stated on the box that it is compatible bluetooth. I tried since to know how to use it but can't find anything on the menu, even through the search tool. Bluetooth does not appear in Device Manager (menu assistance took me by that), but after looking in the menu programs and features, it shows "Bluetooth stack for windows by toshiba"!

  Does that mean that my laptop IS bluetooth enabled and if so anyone know how to use it?

  BT is quite simple to use. The WLAN switch on IT (the WLAN led should be lit). After you do this using FN + F9 key combination and activate the BT device.
  I guess that laptop will install some components and all components of BT will be displayed in the Device Manager.

  Hi all

  Just address my new G40 10 s - one single machine hell! On playing a DVD through WMP or HD Toshiba player the playback volume is not so great when the ramp up to the max...

  Anyone know if there is a way to overridding the settings and get more volume? MP3 playback is fine and has punch, its just DVD that are the problem.

  I use a M Series DAQ card (6229) multichannel and multipoint make reading and writing of waveforms, all synced to a clock generated on the 6229.  Now I need to extend that to a "remote" (10 m) location and I was planning to use the Ethernet (9188 or 9184) CompactDAQ chassis or maybe 9144 Ethercat slave.  Before I have buy and learn the hard way, I thought I would ask some advice:

  My questions are:

  (1) using the DAQmx can I access the IO on 9184 or transparent 9144 using a multichannel multipoint DAQmx task as I do for the PCI 6299 card?

  (2) are all of these chassis supported if I use RT on the host?

  (3) is the best way to synchronize and trigger the remote system to the host using a digital line between the 6229 plug-in and the chassis from a distance, and if so, how can I connect it to the chassis and set it as a sample clock?

  Any help would be appreciated.

  You make perfect sense.  And, I am pleased to report that you can program your analog output task CompactDAQ to use a clock timed by material, like your M Series device.  In fact, it is possible (and perhaps even likely) that the same code of OR-DAQmx you use for M-series can be used directly on CompactDAQ also long that the AO, relaxation and sources of timing and similar channels can be updated to point to your CompactDAQ chassis.

  As I've mentioned before, please note that only the CompactDAQ USB chassis (except the cDAQ-9172) are compatible with the PharLap LabVIEW RT objectives.  I don't know if this will meet your needs for a > extension of 10 m from the host system.

• Bluetooth and audio of the speaker at the same time

  I run vacation watch I want to be able to provide an audio feature on both an FM transmitter connected to the headphone jack AND Bluetooth speaker at the same time. This way people walking as well as those in their car would be able to hear the music. As it is, I have a system that works, but not both at the same time. With the level of technology that is in the computers in the House these days, that shouldn't be too difficult to configure the software to allow the two outputs. Is it possible to make this work?

  I tried to clean the LCD screen using hardware screen cleaner, but this place will not simply disappear. It's like it's the other side of the glass...

  Second, I assume you are talking about dead pixel.

  These pixels can be eliminated!
  In this case only the replacement of the screen could contribute to solving the problem you but there are some restrictions and not every screen can be replaced.

• Update BIOS on the Qosmio F30 - ACPI problem

  I've updated the BIOS on my Toshiba Qosmio F30 - 140 and I have issues with the management of ACPI.

  When I try to run Ubuntu 9.04 or 9.10, I see constantly typed characters - "^ [[B ', which cancel all important processes.
  When I add "acpi = off" option to GRUB the problem seems not apear, but I do not have access to important features (like changing the brightness of the display). How to solve this problem?

  first: "never touch a running system", but you already know...

  with this new bios, you have enabled some features of the motherboard...
  Try this:
  -turn off acpi in the bios mode, if possible
  -patch your kernel to use the acpi features
  - or disable the use of the features of acpi by boot-cheats

  as you say the problem doesn't exist when starting with "acpi = off".
  display brightness and the cooling of the processor are the main features of acpi to save energy, if your kernel can not handle
  check_acpi_ignore = 1 might be a way to make it work

  way the easiest way is to reinstall the system...
