Hello

What do you mean if it has a bluetooth connection? Ask yourself if your laptop is equipped with a bluetooth device or cannot establish a connection?

    Hello

Can someone tell me if I can speed up the opening of the internet connection on my laptop.

I have a Satellite L40 - 12K, with 2 GB of memory, operating system vista Home premium.
When you enter my user space after 30 seconds the system tray has not all symbols yet, but the drive slows down. At this point, I have the 2-screen symbol with a red cross. Then after 50 seconds, the hard drive shows some activity and then more certain symbols are placed in the system tray.
Then after about 80 s finally Red Cross disappears.
I don't know if this is a common problem with vista, or is there something I can do to speed this time.

    pls help me

    Hello

the problem with Vista is that many things are 'wobbly' which causes the system to do things slower then you're accustomed to XP or other systems.
The best would be to update ALL your drivers and install each update of Windows available. You can also speed up until your departure by removing unnecessary Autostart entries.
I recommend reading this extremetech article that describes how to speed up Vista system startup:

  • Satellite L40 - 12K - BIOS update failure

    Hi people,

It is the second Toshiba laptop, I've managed to screw up. I don't know why, but it seems that Toshiba is especially prone to spectacular failure of BIOS.

This laptop (Satellite L40 - 12K, short model PSL40E) has a bios made by FRIEND and Toshiba has an update on its Web site for windows that uses the tool of WinFlash.exe made by ASUS.

The tool only works for 32-bit operating systems, and I had installed a 64-bit version of Windows, I could not pass the laptop.

Then I thought: we will try to update the bios from MS-DOS, using a bootable flash drive!

I went to the ASUS ftp site and downloaded the latest AFUDOS (2.41). This is a special version of the afudos FRIEND tool, specially designed for ASUS.

I ran the tool under MS-DOS, and it will make sure the BIOS automatically confirmed that the binary file was compatible with the laptop model and automatically starts the process of flashing.

But it crash in the phase of "flash erase". He was stuck there for HOURS, so I turned off the computer and tried to turn it back on.

Not at all, the laptop won't turn. It does not even ANY SOUND. NO LIGHTS, NO NOISE, NO FAN, NOTHING.

    ABSOLUTELY AND COMPLETELY DEAD.

So, there you have it. I have flashed dozens of computers (servers, laptops, workstations, etc.) in my life, and I've only had TWO failures.

TWO of them were with Toshiba laptops. Geez, Toshiba is really the King of the failures of BIOS flashing!

    Hello

I would never try update the Toshiba BIOS with a BIOS from other support pages for computer laptop manufacturer
What to say; I found one from Toshiba victory of the BIOS and traditional BIOS Toshiba U.S. driver page:

    http://www.CSD.Toshiba.com

Maybe you could try to Flash the BIOS using this version of BIOS
If this is not possible, then only a service provider authorized Toshiba would be able to help you.

By the way: I've had three different Toshiba notebooks: A210, U400, and now Tecra A11.
The BIOS update has worked perfect for all series...

  • Satellite L40 - 12K - larger capacity of HDD

What is the capacity of a hard disk, which is supported by the Toshiba Satellite L40 - 12K? Now I have a 120 GB MK1237GSX TOSHIBA, but I want to change it because it's probably has a problem.

    Hello

According to the specifications of your laptop supports hard disks up to 200 GB. I believe that a 200 GB HARD drive isn't bad and it will be sufficient for you.
    Do you agree with me?

  • Microphone suddenly stopped working on Satellite L40 - 12K

    Hello world

I have a problem: yesterday when I tried to make a call using Skype, I discovered that my voice is not audible. I tried to use another headset, however, it did not work either. I tried to use sort of Win XP built-in utility to test its equipment in the sound Manager, but he has not responded to.

I installed the package Sound Forge to check on a certain advanced registration system - but no result to.

I reinstalled sound and then driver chipset - no result. I reinstalled Windows, but I am facing the same problem again. What can be the possible problem? And are there ways that can help withour solution of hardware engineers.
    PS My laptop is Toshiba L40 - 12K, OS - Win XP 12 K.

P.P.S. I haven't tryied USB headset, I used to use those usual for micro-audio jacks.

Before contacting the service recovery original image with Vista install and test it.
If everything works well, it's a configuration problem.
    Check it out!

What operating system do you use?

  • Satellite L40 - 12K - unreliable internet connection

My laptop sometimes connects with my local wireless network and sometimes is not (so the other pc's in the House do, then there is nothing wrong with the internet connection).

Sometimes it stops even while I work. Sometimes the little orange light indicating that I have a connection is on, sometimes I can't get on with the slide switch backward. Perhaps the slide is broken? I tried to restart a couple of times: it sometimes works, and sometimes it doesn't. It's a gamble whether or not I have a connection.

    Someone had this problem?

    Hello!

Normally the WiFi led should always light if the switch is set on you and that you have enabled using FN + F8.
    Did you check that?

But you should try to update the driver WLAN and BIOS before going to an ASP. Two updates that you can find on the Toshiba site:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-online decision-making supported Downloads & => Download drivers

You use internet security with firewall software? If so, you should try to remove it and use only Windows Firewall and another program like AntiVir AntiVirus (Freeware and very nice). Then test it again.

    Good luck! :)

  • Re: Satellite L40 - good need driver for FN keys for volume up/down

    Toshiba Satellite L40 - 12K

Provided with Windows Vista. I installed Windows 7 Professional 32-bit (clean install, not an update).

Virtually everything (including the top row of keys Fn, for example to change the brightness of the screen) works fine with only Windows installed. Do not work only the Fn arrow up/down keys to change the volume of the speaker.
What driver Toshiba should I install this? It available for Windows 7 32 - bit are:
    -Card Reader Controller
    -Chipset utility
    -Free Config
    -DVD Player update checking tool
    -Display driver
    -Modem Driver
    -Registry Patch (2 different ones)
    -TEMPRO
    -Value Added Package
    -Driver LAN wireless
None of them seem to apply in particular

    TIA

    Kees

In general the FN feature is controlled by utility flash card and this utility is part of the additional package of Toshiba.

One last thing: offered Win7 drivers for upgrade are so when you upgrade Vista to Win7.
If you clean Win7 OS installed on your machine, I can imagine that some features will not be there so try to install Vista stuff like hotkey utility.

You have to play with this and hope that everything will work properly.

  • PXE - E61 and PXE - M0F errors when starting on Satellite L40 - 12 K

I have satellite L40 - 12K, with vista home premium.
After a while, I saw two in the start screen error messages.
PXE - E61: Media test failure, check cable of
PXE - M0F: Exit PXE ROM

After contacting the helpline to a? ¬0, 50 per minute, they advised me to restore the PC hole. !!! @@$$%^^^&^%
So I google on these errors and found to change the boot order.
    My default setting is:
    1 network (LAN)
    2 HARD DRIVE

    I changed it to:
    1 HARD DRIVE

    3 CD/DVD

Now my error messages disappeared and see my screen to the user directly.

Google so first of all, before you listen to paid helpdesk.

  • Satellite L40 - B - security certificate error - all Broswers

    Hello

I just reset my computer (he was running more slowly than usual).

    * Toshiba Satellite L40 - Part B: PSKQ8A-00E001 serial No.: 4E141609S *.

And reinstalled Windows 8.1 and updated all the drivers:

However, I am currently getting the following error messages in my browsers:

Google Chrome: Your connection is not private. Attackers might be trying to steal your information of www.google.com.au (for example, passwords, messages, etc.) NET: ERR_CERT_DATE_INVALID

Internet Explorer: There is a problem with the security certificate of the website the secutiry certificate presented by this website (google) has expired or is not yet valid.*

    I JUST FINISHED TROUBLESHOOTING:

    1. date and time > I have synced the date & time of time.nist.gov
    2. scanned for the broswer addons > using Avast Antivirus I scanned for any Add - ons that may have been placed on my computer - found nothing.
3 uninstall all programs on computer > I uninstalled all the programs I don't know download.
4 reset all the settings of the browser.
5 broswer update to the latest version.
    6. for Google Chrome - tried to use Incognito - has continued to receive the error message.
7 browsers uninstalled and reinstalled on the computer.
8 restart the computer once the previous steps.

I tried all the possible troubleshooting found on the Internet - if you can let me know if there is any more I can take - there seems to be a problem with my laptop because I have reset > I've never had this problem before.

I'll write the programs currently installed on my computer below if you know if these are the original SSL problems

    Alcor Micro PCIE card reader
    Setup driver Atheros
    Avast free AntiVirus
Bluetooth Stack for Windows by Toshiba
    Classic interface
    Dropbox
    Google Chrome
    Intel Graphics Driver
    Microsoft Office 365
    Microsoft OneDrive
    Qyalcomm Atheros Bluetooth Suite (64)
    Realtek Ethernet Controller Driver
    Realtek High Definition Audio Driver
    Synaptics Pointing Device Driver
    Toshiba Service Station
    Toshiba system driver
    VLC Media Player
    YTD Video Downloader 4.8.9

I found some details on this error notification ERR_CERT_DATE_INVALID
The reason has been discussed in the Microsoft forum.

It seems that Avast antivirus somehow involved in this error.
Try disabling all the parameters that may affect the https sites.

Of course, you can also try to uninstall Avast Antivir and could test other software like Avira Antivir.

    Hello

is there anyway to get another copy of the original disc supplied with my Satellite L40 - 18Z driver and OS? apparently the last time I used it, it has not installed properly and I have problems trying to install .net or windows update

    Please visit https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx
On this page, you should be able to order the original recovery media. Your laptop is quite old so I really hope that your phone model will be on the list. Check it out.

Otherway, you can install your own version of the OS. All the necessary drivers, tolls and the utilities that you can download from the Toshiba support page - http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp

  • Satellite L40 - changing RAID SATA to IDE SATA

    Hello

I tried to change the option on my SATA RAID bios (that I think I have by default) to SATA IDE, but when I go into my bios, I find no option to change this aspect.
I have a Toshiba Satellite L40 and only Linux UBUNTU 8.10 installed on my computer. I saw messages in the other Foruns where I told me to update my bios but I don't know how to do it under Ubuntu.

Can someone help me with this solution OR give me better to change that?
    Thank you

As far as I know, this option does not exist and update of the BIOS will not help at all. The BIOS update does not any additional installation.
BIOS update is only possible under Windows.

Can you please tell me why you want to change this option?
