"boot configuration data store could not be opened" when starting bcdedit. Boot config-dual PREV XP Pro x 64 1st disk; XP Pro 32 on the 2nd disk. Nuked 1st disk and installed Win 7. It seems that Windows 7 has not identified the 2nd OS because it wasn't on a partition on the same drive? All I can find is info on editing an existing data store. I don't see any information on how to create one from scratch, except there is a Create option and the different option, but not how to decide what the values should be. Any help is greatly appreciated.

the windows boot configuration data file does not contain a valid entry os
Hello
I got this message when recovery... I can't get the windows... I have the CD recovery, but when I boot it... It gives me this message
the windows boot configuration data file does not contain a valid entry os
How do I solve this problemHello
Assuming that it's just a problem with the recovery media, here's another solution, you can try.
Before you try the following, make sure that you can always read the character product activation key 25 on your label Windows COA (5 blocks of 5 alphanumeric games).
An example of a COA label can be seen here.
You can create a Windows 7 installation disc yourself using another PC - just download the good Disk Image ( it must be the same version that originally shipped with your laptop - IE if your laptop comes with Windows 7 Home Premium, that is the file you need to download ) from the link below and use an app like ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly file on a blank DVD - a guide on the use of ImgBurn to write an ISO on a disc is here. The source of the Image is - Digital River.
Use the disk to perform the installation, enter the activation key of Windows on the label of the COA at the request and once the installation is complete, use ' 'phone Method' described in detail in the link below to activate the operating system -this made method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who want to just have a new installation of Windows 7 without additional software load normally comes with OEM installations.

All pilots additional and the software you may need are located by entering your full model number or Nr here.

Error "Installation package could not be opened" when tried to install Age of Empires 3
Original title: installation package could not be opened
Due to problems with Age of Empires 1, 2 and 3, I recently uninstalled using Advanced Uninstaller. I then reinstalled AOE 1 and 2 but when I tried to install AOE 3 I got the message "the installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it. \Age of Empires III.msi"
I assumed that the installation disc (which must be loaded when reading) was struck and he was polite. The warning message still appears. I'm afraid I might have deleted something that I should not have when you uninstall the game. Any suggestions?

Media Center "new configuration data TV could not be downloaded.
When initially implemented in Vista Media Center worked perfectly, then after about 3 months or so he left the information download guide. I couldn't find a solution at this time. Then I udated for Windows 7. Now, he will even not be passed the original installation of the region. Comes back with the error "Failed to download" new TV configuration data could not be downloaded. Existing data, if any, will be used as you continue through Setup TV signal. That would be perfect, but there is no data available. Have you tried a lot a lot of difficulties on this and other sites, nothing seems to work. Really frustrated. Help, please.
If you have double NAT. I don't know why you're using TWO routers.
Here's what to try:
start by writing down all of the current settings in the router DLink for SSID
name, password for wifi and the admin password security.1. unplug the cable modem. Shut down all computers.
2. unplug the USR8004 and remove it from your network
3. disconnect the DLink router and then plug this DLink WAN port in the
cable modem. Plug any computers wired on the on the DLink LAN ports4. plug the DLink router and make a DLink router factory reset. I think
There is a hole reset at the back where the ports are, use a folded paper
clip.5. when the router comes back to the top (you'll know by the lights), turn on a wired
computer and you connect and configure the wireless, exactly as you had before and
reset the admin password on what you did.6. the router should reboot. When that happens, reconnect the cable modem
7. with the computer cable that is already in place, check the connectivity
8. turn the touchsmart and nothing else
This should solve the double NAT problem.

Receives the Message "the specified domain does not exist or could not be contacted" when starting
I was working on my machine, normally the day before and I shut it down properly - everything was fine. I'm confused as to what happened between the stopping and starting of the next day!
After you receive this message, he asks me my password for the account of one on my machine. I've never set up a password.
I have tried rebooting several times and it gives me the same message.
I started to run diagnostics, but he appeared to get hooked on a memory test.
Any ideas on how to pass this message/fix, it would be appreciated!
Your system appears to have been related to a field. After that, it requires a reboot to take effect. Once you restarted so he invites to connect to the domain.
There are always local accounts on your computer that allows you to open a session, but they will have a password for all accounts if your system is connected to a domain (as it is a requirement). To log on by using a local account, choose the name of your computer in the ' log on: "drop-down at the login prompt. You will need to know the valid username and password for this computer. If you or someone you know has an account in the domain that is joined to your system, allow you to logon to the domain by providing the valid domain user name and password.
Once logged on you can undo your computer from the domain (right click on the computer in the start menu, properties, advanced system settings, change the computer name, select workgroup and type workgroup name. Click Ok.) You will need the necessary permissions to perform this task.
If you are unable to go further, because you don't have a valid login, you can reinstall Windows. If you format your drive when you re-install you will lose all data on this disc. So if you need all the files from the drive, and you go this route, make a backup first!

Yesterday, I downloaded Windows 8, and although using it was confusing I got the hang of it. Today, I used the computer again and everything was fine but then I stopped him and a few hours later, when I turned it on a blue screen appeared and he says:
RecoveryYour PC needs to be repairedThe Boot Configuration data file is missing some information required.Leader: \Boot\0xc000000dOT: After victory. Download 8 it won't launchI have no idea what is happening or how to fix it. Any help to help me understand and solve this problem would be appreciated.Met the same question from one day to the other - re install Win 8< week="" old="" decided="" to="" misbehave="" on="" a="" reboot.="" nothing="" untoward="">
In any case discovered that the automatic startup repair is less useless for me. He could not fix anything whatsoever after the diagnosis and just gave up.
However, resort to repair (start your windows installation CD) command line prompt, I managed to solve it with the command of the ffg on the command line.
Bootrec /rebuildbcd
More info about bootrec available using your favorite search engine.
for example, this site was useful for me
http://superuser.com/questions/451277/missing-boot-files-in-Windows-8
For users in previous posts with problems and have only a version downloaded to Win 8 - well I'd say that you yourself create a DVD of the version uploaded to win 8 - the installation program ask you if you want to create media - that will create a 4.x GB. ISO file that you can burn to DVD. There is enough information on how to do this just search online.
With regard to creating a way to initiate Win8 installer from USB Eh well I heard the ffg tool works with Win 8 too but cannot vouch for her since have never tried so its at your own risk.

Satellite P200 Vista Ultimate - boot configuration data read error
I have a Toshiba Satellite P200 running Vista Ultimate.
Recently I started having a problem after restarting after the installation of vista updates. In fact, it will not start at all and gives me the following message on a black screen.
Windows could not start. A recent change in hardware or software can cause of bethe. To solve the problem:
1. Insert your windows installation disc, and then restart your computer
2. choose your language settings, and then click Next.
3. click on "repair your computer".If you do not have this disc contact your manufacturer aministrator or the computer of the help system.
File: \Boot\BCD
Status: 0xc00014c
Info: An error occurred trying to read the boot configuration data.
The only way I can fix it to insert the recovery dvd and click on repair. This levonorgestrol only when the computer restarts after an update. If I manually turn off the computer, then on start up fine.
I don't want to put automatic offf to update more because I think they are important from the safety point of view, however, this situation is not acceptable.
Can someone please help.
I have a screenshot of the error, but have reproduced the information above.Hello
In my opinion, there is something wrong with your mater boot (MBR) of the drive and therefore the bootloader causes an error.
Usually, you might be able to fix it using the original disk of Vista but it s really strange that this problem still occurs after the update to vista.
In my eyes, you should really check if the same problem would happen using the Toshiba factory settings and configuration.
Good luck

Corrupt Windows Vista boot configuration data?
Hey there.
So, my Acer Aspire 5570 actually running Vista for a while now. I tried to have it dual boot a Linux OS, worked well, then, I received a message "corrupt boot configuration data" when I tried to boot to Vista. I googled for answers, and I was not able to find any help. The only way I can get into Vista is via a command prompt any. I did everything that he restore points, and I've never had the OS installation discs. ZORIN, the Linux OS partition works very well. Any help?
UPDATE: I think I can find something. You are not sure if it will work, but worth it, right? BTW, it starts at the Startup Repair, and I go into the advanced options or something.
UPDATE (again): looks like Zorin has replaced ALL my files in Vista, even if it was SAID NOT TO DO THAT (yes I yell at computers, problem?) I tried these links: http://www.troublefixers.com/unable-to-boot-in-windows-vista-windows-boot-configuration-data-file-is-missing-required-information/, http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/ht/rebuild-bcd-store-windows.htm, http://pcsupport.about.com/od/termsl/p/logon.htm, http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/tp/recovery_console_commands.htm and http://pcsupport.about.com/od/termss/p/system-recovery-options.htm, but nothing worked. I have to buy a new version of Vista and install it? My Acer is a bit too old to upgrade, I think.
Hello
You do not need to buy a new version of Vista, you can reinstall the version you have as often you want on this machine.
Something has gone wrong with your Dual Boot with Linux; but there is a special way to set that up, which is often mentioned in the Linux/Ubuntu Forums.
If you want to reinstall Vista again, IF this option is still available, you press LEFT Alt + F10 keys at startup and Vista is re-installed normally Acer 'hidden' partition recovery.
http://Acer.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/A_ID/2631
If the dual-boot ruined who, you might ask Acer to send you recovery disks, which they used to do for a small fee.
But Acer has ceased to provide the recovery disc Vista for most, if not all of its models.
If this happens, you may need to try this instead:
You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.
Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.
And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs
Here's how to do a clean install of Vista using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft:
"How to do a clean install and configure with a full Version of Vista '
http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/117366-clean-install-full-version-Vista.html
And once the operating system is installed, go to your computer manufacturer's website and get the latest drivers for your particular model or laptop computer.
And phone Activation may be necessary when you use the above installation method.
"How to activate Vista normally and by Activation of the phone '
http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/84488-activate-Vista-phone.html
See you soon.

Windows Boot Configuration data file is missing required information
Hello
I am trying to boot up my laptop and the Windows Boot Manager appears saying that Windows could not start.
File: \boot\bcd
Status 0xc000000d
Info: The windows boot configuration data file is missing required information.
I have a laptop Dell Inspiron notebook, which came with Windows 7 pre-installed so I didn't have an installation disc, nor do I have a CD player. How can I solve this problem and is it simple? I tried to turn on my new laptop and pressing F8 but nothing happens and the windows Boot Manager appears again. Can someone help me please, or I'll have to return someone to solve this problem for me?
Thank you

Hello Daniel,.
Thanks for posting your query on Microsoft Community forum.
According to the description you get the error Boot Configuration data (BCD). I totally agree with you that, in order, to rebuild the Boot Configuration data (BCD) we need the installation media.
If you do not have any other computer to create the installation media, then it is best to contact the manufacturer of your computer instead to buy Windows from outside. If your computer is under warranty, they can provide you with the ERD free of charge or at minimal cost.
If you manage to organize other computers or repair disk, try the steps below. You can try to create installation media by following the steps described in the article mentioned below.
To create installation media Windows 8.1
- Boot from the DVD of Windows 8.
- Click repair your computer.
- Click Troubleshooting , and then select Advanced Options.
- Click on command prompt and type the following commands and press enter after each command:
Bootrec /fixmbr
Bootrec /fixboot
Bootrec /rebuildbcd
- Restart the computer.
- Check if the problem persists.
Get back to us with your question was last updated. We will be more than happy to help you.
