Boot Windows 8.1 Secure message

I have a HP Pavilion.  HP upgrade BIOS two days ago.  Today I've updated Windows 8 to 8.1.  At the bottom right of the screen, there is a message that says: "Windows 8.1 SecureBoot is not configured correctly. Build 9600 ".

How to get rid of this message and why it is happening?  I also upgraded a Surface feature and this was not the case; so I think it's a problem of HP.  Anyone, please help.

I write this so that everyone can take a look is a document of Microsoft Support about this problem. The document entitled "" Secure boot is not configured properly"watermark on desktop" is linked below.

In general, I was ignorant, but recently my PC feels like it becomes less stable.

I'm surprised that it returns no results on any search engine.

This error means that the registry is damaged.

The registry consists of the following files:

    c:\windows\system32\config\system
    c:\windows\system32\config\software
    c:\windows\system32\config\sam
    c:\windows\system32\config\security
    c:\windows\system32\config\default

You can restore these registry files in the restore folder of the system hidden on the C: drive.

  • Dual Boot windows Linux 8.1 on Pavilion 17-e157eo

Will there be a completely safe way for a dual-boot Windows 8.1 and Linux on a Pavilion 17-e157eo?

I searched the dualboot topics, but solutions do not seem to apply in this case.  Secure boot has been disabled. Quick start has been disabled. In this PC disk partitions are not dynamic but simple.

Starting from a Live Linux DVD results in a blank screen even if the DVD player is clearly read something.  Is the problem due to the fact that this PC has the INTEL 4600 graphics chip and an AMD Radeon 8670 M?

A better solution would be to use VMware or VirtualBox, set up a Linux guest operating system, the host system is of course Windows 8.1?

No problem, glad I could help. If you could mark one of my posts with an acceptable Solution and congratulations if this information was useful, it would be much appreciated and it would be useful to other institutions. Thank you and have a great day!

  • Update for Windows XP (KB2686509) security is not installed

Kb268509 update will not be installed. I get no error message #, I tried the selective startup in msconfig and disable all Microsoft services on the services tab, and I get a BIG red X saying could not check c:\windows\kb268509.log, I searched my computer, microsoft, web for failure message # and nothing. Please help summer try everything I could find for problem including microsoft fix it and no problem help. Thanks for any help. Paul * address email is removed from the privacy * .

Please open your control panel > programs feature add / remove and check that all other Windows XP updates security for may 2012 (i.e. KB2676562 + KB2695962 + KB2659262) all are listed. If only KB2686509 is missing (don't not listed as installed) you can go to your Windows directory and search for a log file named: faultykeyboard.log

You can now go to this thread (KB2686509 repeatedly fails with error 0x8007F0F4 code) where you have 3 options to resolve this problem:

    (1) glance to 2nd marked "Answer" Post (of Christian S.) and try to run its new VB Script (at your own risk - if necessary) as described in this report.

    OR...

    (2) search the marked 1st Post "Answer" (from Susan B.) and try to determine which of these scenarios you are. So far, there is - at least - three types of different errors that would make the KB2686509 update fails with error 0x8007f0f4 code,.

OR otherwise - if neither works above...

    (3) try to contact Susan Bradley (provided email in even mentioned thread) that she is wanting to offer his help in what concerns failure to comply with this update to install - as long as you have found your faultykeyboard.log file.

Hope this helps - good luck!
