Booting from USB or USB-Flash on Qosmio G30?

I would like to boot from a USB key with a PE Builder built the Image on my USB key. Is this possible? I can't find an option to boot from USB Stick. Drive HARD to the CD, LAN, only.

I prefer this option to browse without risk of viruses, worms, adware...

Please help me.

Unfortunately, don t BIOS supports booting from the USB key or USB.
You can boot from USB FDD, 1st/2nd HDD, ODD, or Network (LAN)

Hay buddy, you have good sense of humor ;)
Do you really believe that someone to sit here and wait for your non-complex question? ;)
Anyway, this issue is so simple and you don't need to ask someone here. If you do not find option bootable BIOS to set USB peripheral device for me is logical that this will not work.
    Please check the BIOS settings.

  • EliteBook 840: unable to boot from usb flash

    Hello:

I'm tempted to boot from USB drive to install a new version of Windows 7. When I press F9, I have only two startup options:

    -Computer portable hard drive

    -Computer laptop Ethernet

The USB boot option do not appear.

My BIOS Version is: 01.04 worm. M71 (24/02/2015)

Note: I tested my USB key installation in the other laptop and it works very well.

    Thank you for your support.

I realized that, since the post, you did.

I suggested RUFUS and EFI create setup of windows due to the startup problem, that you have with the Elitebook 840.

It may be just what you need for this particular laptop.

  • Boot from usb pendrive on Qosmio G20

Hi, my name is Gregorio, I have a toshiba qosmio G20, and I would like to know how to start via USB pendrive which I installed a linux operating system, but I can't be able to run it. I m trying to do that, because I Don t know how to create a partition in a raid system and install linux in this partition, so my alternative is a live USB. Thank you.

Madam, Sir, I do not think that your G20 is able to boot from a USB device. This kind of shoe is supported by the qosmio G40/45 G50/55 models.
As you can see when turning on your qosmio you will see an or 2 HARD drive, a floppy disk, a cd/dvd player and LAN. In the latest qosmio model you can also see a USB... then I think that we must build another partition on your HARD drive.
Sorry for my English (I know a few)!

  • Can't boot from USB Flash Drive on Yoga 13

I had a USB bootable with linux on it live and I tested it it works on another computer but I can't get my Yoga to boot from it. I wet to settings-> General-> advanced startup and then I clicked on the option USB but the computer is restarted, he said that there is no bootable USB devices. Someone able to boot from a flash drive?

    Hello and welcome,

What linux distro do you use, and it is able to start on a UEFI system?

I'm guessing here since I don't have a machine like yours, but I guess that BIOS refuses to see the USB if it doesn't have an appropriate structure of UEFI boot on it.

You may be able to start the flash player by accessing the BIOS and setting the mode of inheritance.

  • Envy Touchsmart Ultrabook - boot from Usb Flash or optical drive

I just this envy Touchsmart Ultrabook (14 inches) with 8 win and it works very well, but one thing that I can't make it work is to be able to boot from a USB stick or a cd usb player.  This system doesn't have a built-in optical drive.

I changed the configuration Bios Boot UEFI for Legacy and also re arranged the boot order so the USB drives are before the internal hard drive.  I also tried to change setting USB 3 auto... still not able to boot from a usb device.

Both the usb flash drive and cd drive to boot on my HP desktop and I recently tried the usb flash drive on a new laptop Lenovo comes with Win 8 and it worked.

I need to do so that I could run my backup - Acronis True Image software.

I searched on the Dell support site to see if the BIOS

    Thank you

If the USB device is present when you turn it on and is bootable, it is possible to change the boot priority order.  The device must be bootable however.  I use Sandisk Cruiser readers to ADAPT because they don't stick as to be broken and are easily hidden if hooked up to the rear of the machine.

None of this is really a problem Windows/Microsoft.

A1: Ask Dell and/or consult the specifications of Dell web/FAQ pages.

A2: The BIOS is not related to the operating system you have.  Turn off the computer, turn on the computer and immediately start typing F2.

    A3: Eventually--depends on the answer to Q1.

Usually the name of the USB device does not appear in the start menu.
If you want to run rom flash USB memory key, you need to connect the USB flash first.
Press the power button, then F12 and select USB.

But note: USB flash memory stick must be ready for start-up.

We must go into the BIOS, turn on legacy mode and disable secure boot to install W7.

Then you must also run this tool to set the USB3 drivers in your W7 usb flash drive.

  • Re: Satellite NB10T-A-101 - cannot boot from USB key

    Hello

I bought a new Toshiba Satellite NB10T-A-101 and want to improve performance by changing the HDD with a SSD and install windows Pro 8.1.

However, I am unable to boot from USB, it always mention:
+ Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key. +

I already disabled secure, used 5 + usb startup different sticks (work fine on other laptops).

Can you please tell me what the approach is to change the HARD drive and then boot from a USB bootable (UEFI).

    Thank you.

    Hello

Laptop Satellite NB10T-A-101 was equipped with an Intel CPU 2810 n which is part of the new Intel Bay Trail-M platform.

This new technology Intel Bay Trail allows installation of UEFI capable systems:
    Win 8 or 8.1 Win

    Just a few questions:
Have you already changed the HARD drive to SSD drive?
If so, the new SSD is recognized in the BIOS?
Have you tried to boot from the USB flash memory stick 8.1 Win until you changed your SSD drive?

  • How can I boot from USB - Portege A200

    Hello

I have a Portege A200 which is only a couple of years, but the hard drive no longer works. Initially, I thought that this was due to corrupt the boot disk record, but after trying to replace the drive hard (with two different readers), is showing a #0 IDE error when starting. So I came to the conclusion that the IDE controller chip is dead.

In order to get labour latop, I burned a cd with the ubunto ISO. It starts off ok but due have only 512 MB of RAM, the system is somewhat limited and nothing installed is lost each time that I reboot.

Now, I bought a 2 GB flash drive and installed ubuntu on it. My other problem is that there seems to be no boot from USB HDD or USB option in the bios.

The options I can think of are:
    (1) Upgade the bios so that it supports the start of memory stick (although no HARD drive so do not know how I could reflash the BIOS or if there is even an upgrade of the BIOS that would support this feature)
    (2) create a cd that starts the boot process then tells the system to continue the initialization of the USB key (this is possible and does anyone know where I might be able to get these software)
    (3) boot from CD but the use of USB to keep any recorded information / everything installs etc (I suppose that similar to option 2 except the cd would manage the entire OS and USB would just "extra" information)

If there are other options if someone may think I am happy to give them a go. Seems a shame to have to chuck to a laptop that is not particularly old, because the IDE controller chip has failed on the mobo.

I have apppriciate any help anyone can offer.
    Thank you very much
    Mark

    Hello

First I have to say that it of not possible to boot from the external USB device as USB, CD/DVD USB drive or USB HDD.
It of only possible to boot from the external USB FDD (floppy) disk

However, no opportunities for startup are clear, but I think that you misunderstood the IDE #0 error message. According to m that the IDE controller is not defective but only the new drive HARD is not compatible and not recognized by the BIOS.

There are different reasons for this problem
For the most part this error message appears if the HARD drive master/slave/c-salt settings are not correct.
Generally these settings don t need to be changed or switched on the 2.5 hard disks but some hard drives support a rider that needs to be fixed in the correct position. But I put t if your HARD drive supports this

In addition, the size of HARD drive isn't is not compatible could be the reason for these error messages!
I would recommend so finally communicating with ASP in your country to get a new, compatible HARD drive and see if the same error still occurs.

    Good luck

  • Desktop HP ENVY 700: problems with the boot from usb in the bios

Hi I'm trying to boot from usb on a desktop HP ENVY 700. I don't know the serial number now.

I followed the instructions and have produced a bootable USB and I checked this on a work dell computer where there is an option for me to boot from my USB if I so wish, but on my HP ENVY any options choose it does not appear with my USB in question and when I try to change the boot sequence making sure the usb/floppy and drive hard usb is above the rest of the sequencers starting it always starts just to the top as usual to my windows boot 10. I've disabled secure boot and used the boot of the legacy and it still does not work.

I went through all the options I can that seem to be logic and it just does not work. I don't understand and I have to start using a usb key that I use the operating system can be very dangerous in a real environment, so it can not be downloaded to the hard drive.

I need immediate help, this becomes quite frustrating now that it should be simple to do, but HP is not the way to simplisitic to do.

Please if someone could point me in the right direction I would be so appreciative ideally if I could have a ride on the way to do

I need this to work because I can't afford to buy new systems and its for my studies so its imperative

Your PC has a motherboard of Memphis and happens to have a UEFI BIOS and the hard drive of the GPT format.

You can check the type of hard disk online order volume by using the DiskPart utility.

  • NB100 - How can I reinstall OS from USB flash drive

My laptop TOSHIBA NB 100 has no CD-DVD player.
Operating system is Windows XP Home SP2.

    Operating system won't start.

Laptop start not at all so I can't run any kind of test when I turn it on.

The thank you screen come on it says launch safe mode, the networking of safe mode, safe mode comand prompt or start windows normally. But no matter who I chose, that it does not start it only goes to Windows and looks like its starts but then shows the blue Windows screen & stays there.

So I want to reload Windows from my USB flash drive.
The BIOS boot sequence is the USB HDD - FDD - FD - CD memory.

What are the steps for loading Windows USB flash drive?

If that does not work then I want to connect another laptop with Windows CD in the CD - DVD drive laptop.
Will this work? The laptop will use the Windows CD in the drive of the laptop to load the operating system?
    How to make this connection?

    Hello

You usually have an external USB CD/DVD drive to boot from the Windows XP disc or the Toshiba recovery disc.

But there is a method that allows you to install Win XP using the 2 GB USB key.
This is possible because the NB100 BIOS supports booting from USB key.

    Pease check this Web page:

+ Installation of Windows XP using a USB Flash Drive.

    Hello

It is not possible to boot from USB because the BIOS does not support this feature.
You can boot from USB FDD, but to do this you will need a boot like Win98 boot floppy disk

The update of the BIOS will not help you because all BIOS for series A200 don t support it!
