Box of Baldur Gate PC DVD/rom works on Vista?

I want to buy a PC DVD/Rom of 4-in-1 box of Baldur Gate on Amazon. The game tells the platform is Windows XP. I use Vista 32. I'm not really familiar with the game on pc. Will it work? Thank you.

Yes

I bought the same 4-in-1 Amazon box, installed and played in the series on Vista x 64.
So, I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work for Vista 32.

Have fun!

  • Handset video / DVD - ROM works with the output directly to disk

    Hi all

I have produced a combined video / DVD-ROM and have many problems with the release:

    1. when I write the project directly to a DVD, everything is ok

But in my current project, I wanted to write the project to a folder on the hard drive (just to send a master copy online)...

    2. when I write the project to a folder on the hard disk, the video_ts is ok, but data (html with 8 related videos) will not play correct: on the start page, there is a video-slider with preview-pictures, which are related to the videos. The cursor does not show the preview images...

Question: Which again in my data? I thought, still only Copy files. But oviously, yet transmitted data by writing on the hard disk in a different way, just by writing on the DVD. Someone at - it experience with this situation?

3 another problem: when I replaced the section of incorrect data on the folder on the hard drive with the accurate data of the correct output of DVD - ROM section, everything is ok - when I open the files in the folder on the hard drive. But when I burn a DVD with this mixture, my DVD Player cannot play this DVD. I compared this DVD with the correct DVD and didn't recognize any difference. In particular, there is a folder video_ts correct on two DVDs

Again, the question is: which again with the data? Respectively, which makes it a readable DVD / not readable by DVD players.

Someone at - it an idea, what's not here?

    Best regards

    Hi Markus,.

Exactly HOW you burn the file to the hard drive on a DVD? So simply burn the VIDEO_TS folder on disk in the form of DATA, that's why it does not work in the DVD player. To be a legal-spec DVD compatible with set-top players, DVD must be burned as 'DVD Video'. The files are arranged in a certain way on the drive, there is maybe a flag on the disc, which indicates that it is 'DVD Video', etc.

Add any DVD-Rom content in yet, then try to build an IMAGE file (.iso) of reminder rather than a 'folder' on the hard drive. Use any burning software that allows a .iso as a source and will create a good DVD. Or use a free program like "ImageBurn" and select "Video DVD" when you save the file on the disk if you want to continue using the method of the folder. But I don't think you can add more data in the VIDEO_TS folder where it is saved on the hard drive, only add content in yet.

I think VLC Media Player will play DVD file .iso if my memory is

    BIOS (2.20)

    Hello

You can check your BIOS settings? Start your laptop and immediately press ESC. Then load the default settings and save it!

You can check if the recovery CD is loaded when you press 'C' immediately after starting the laptop! (CD-ROM must be set up for primary boot device!)

If it doesn't, it would be possible that your drive is damaged! Then, you must contact a Service partner.

  • No driver CD/DVD-ROM don't readers for VGN-AR170?

We have recently reformatted hard drives in our Sony Vaio VGN AR170, due to a hard drive error. Having done this today, we have not been able to find the drivers needed for the CD/DVD-ROM works correctly. We searched the Web and found nothing will load and allow read drives in "MY COMPUTER".

Are there drivers that we can do online that will solve this problem?

    Hi beverlyrogers,

The CD/DVD driver is the generic operating system and can be reinstalled from the Device Manager.

Click on the start menu and type: devmgmt.msc in the start search box and press the Enter key to open the Device Manager window.

Expand and then right-click on the category of CD/DVD drive in Device Manager and select the uninstall option.

Then, restart the computer to install the driver for CD/DVD by default operating system.

You can also try the steps below to resolve this issue.

Press the Windows key + R to open the order run, type regedit and press ENTER.

In the navigation pane, find and then click the following registry subkey:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

In the right pane, click UpperFilters/lower filters.

On the Edit menu, click on delete.

When you are prompted to confirm the deletion, click Yes.

Exit the registry editor and restart the computer.

If the problem persists, perform the steps in the Sub page to fix the problem.

    http://www.KB.Sony.com/selfservice/documentLink.do?externalId=C502466

If the problem persists, perform a recovery system to factory settings.

Note: Perform a system recovery will erase all data on the computer. It is necessary to create a backup.

If you use the factory-installed operating system, you can perform system recovery using the below page:

    http://www.KB.Sony.com/selfservice/documentLink.do?externalId=C498118

You can also use recovery media to perform a system recovery.

I have my daughters old Satellite 4090 & installed me o/s and improved for max 192 MB of Ram. I can't upgrade HDD as this is incorporated.
I've cleaned inside & it runs good considering the age & the whole package.

It is for my granddaughter to use as a computer 1 learning.
I also tried to upgrade the CD for Toshiba SD - C2202 DVD-ROM.
I have this installed and I can read the CD ok but can not read the DVD.

I was unable to locate a driver that can help.
I would like suggestions, I'm assuming that the dvd - rom works well.
This is a used unit bought on ebay.

First of all the CD/DVD drive little matter if this player s only a CD or DVD, doesn t need no 3rd party driver!
Windows Microsoft own driver controls the CD/DVD drive and I think that the disc is properly recognized in Device Manager.

    > I have this installed and I can read the CD ok but can not read the DVD.
I guess you want to play a DVD for a movie. Am I wrong?
Well, you need a DVD playback software to play a DVD movie.
I use WinDVD program. It was already installed on my Toshiba laptop
But there are a lot of freeware apps that are able to play DVD movies too.

Google has just a little bit.

    Hello

What type of DVD you are using?
There are different models of Satellite A40, but I guess that all use the same drive.
I checked the properties of the DVD player and according to this information, the Player supports these media:
    (Read/write) CD - R, CD - RW (read/re-write), CD-ROM, DVD - ROM, DVD-R (read only), DVD - RW (read only), DVD - RAM (read-only)

If you use the+ DVD so there could be a problem with reading.

  • Satellite A200 - 23P - mechanic of DVD - rom does not

I'm sorry for my English in advance this topic! -Thank you

I have a very big problem with my engraver of DVD (RM).
    I bought SAT A200 - 23P three weeks ago.
The Win VISTA operating system has been installed. DVD - rom worked well.

If I have installed Win XP to the second partition on my HARD drive (to install the disk with driver for sata drive in nlite) and installed all the drivers and utilities for Toshiba laptop, I found that my DVD-rom is not working while I press eject button.

Mechanic of DVD is not responding to eject in XP and not even in the BIOS!
It is interesting, mechanic DVD is the detection in BIOS, detects in XP, XP operating system votes - mechanic to the DVD works properly - its fable.

However, if I have installed XP on the second partition, Win Vista does not load :(
I don't have a second chance for second selection (Vista and XP).
I now have XP only, even if Vista is on the first partition - I didn't delete it.

Do you think that the DVD-rom is HW or SW problem?
I think that, given that the DVD-rom does not in the BIOS - HW error.

But is very strange, if I install XP from mechanic to the DVD and then close is, DVD - rom does not...:)

If I manually open and insert the CD, the DVD does not (diode led no blink, just if I turn off the computer, led blinked once).

    PLS help me someone-

    Thank you!

    Hi Michal

Your question is very strange, I mean the number of CD/DVD drive

The fact is that the readers of CD/DVD eject function functions should any operating system has been installed on your laptop. It has nothing to do with your software on the HARD drive.

So I wonder why the eject button works with Vista and not XP preinstalled OS?  :|

My only plausible explanation is that sometimes there is a bad connection between the laptop and the drive. However the problem could be related to the hardware problem too

As you see it s not easy to say what's wrong exactly, we can only speculate.

Now some details about your installation of OS double.

You cannot choose between Windows XP and Vista because Vista boot manager was obliterated during the installation of Win XP.
This happened to me also. I installed Win XP on my Satellite and could not start Vista.

The solution was simple; I used another original DVD of Vista (from my friend) and booted from this DVD. Vista has renewed the Boot Manager, and then I was able to boot Vista.

Then I downloaded the tool called Easy BCD.
This tool can change the Vista Boot Manager settings. I've edited and inserted a new Windwos XP OS entry.

    That s it!

    Hello Stephen,

What version of Windows operating system is installed on your computer?

This problem can occur for the following reasons.

    a. drive updated.

    (b) latest version of DirectX is not installed.

    (c) third party software conflicts.

    d. anti-virus

Refer to the steps in the following Microsoft article and check if that helps.

    Game hangs or quits unexpectedly

    Notes:

Clean boot once you are finished troubleshooting, re-enable all services to reset the computer as usual.

Virus Scan data files that are infected can be cleaned by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

If all goes well it s not a malfunction of the equipment.
    We should be optimistic ;)

    Kind regards

You have cd/dvd utilities in the system tray? Maybe they are causing a problem.

Try to remove the CD/DVD filters in the registry.
When the associated CD/DVD (such as iTunes, Nero, virtual CD software), the software is installed, they install filters in the registry, which can cause compatibility problems.

    (1) run Regedit (start-> Run-> Regedit)
    2) navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
    (3) in the right pane, delete the "UpperFilters" key and delete the key "LowerFilters".
    (4) restart.

If your CD/DVD programs stop working, you will need to reinstall them (preferably with an updated version).

This utility can remove the filters for you:
