Breakpoints in Eclipse

Hello

I just started using Eclipse (used the RIM JDE front however for this project started from scratch), I can't get the breakpoints to work in my project.

I tried to put a breakpoint on a line of system.out.println in the main method. I can see the text in the console window, but the breakpoint is not to be touched.

If I create a new project and do the same thing, it works very well (breakpoints affected), but how do I get them to work in my current project (the one with the real code that I need to debug)

Any tips?

Thank you

Joel

A solution may be to create a new project with the same name and add all the files in your newly created project.

  • Eclipse plugin not walk when not step over after the breakpoint

I run my application in the Eclipse debugger and hit a breakpoint. When I hit F5 or F6 to step over to rush in (doesn't really count) breakpoints are not executed. Sometimes I can hit ctrl-R to run a line. Code works fine when you are not debugging, or if I tap F8 CV with breakpoints, disabled or deleted. I'm under Eclipse 3.4 BB JDE plugin 1.0.0.67 and the component Pack 4.5.0.16. I can interrupt threads, see the stack traces, inspect the variables and all that stuff. My problem is that I can't get into or step over after hitting the first breakpoint.

I have only one project in my workspace. I ran clean.bat. I'm manually switch to the Debug perspective to launch the debugger.

    Ideas anyone?

Ran the app with only the main message enabled (base HellowWorld app) loop and the problems remain.

Recreated the project in JDE 4.7 and everything works great.

  • Eclipse plugin debugging with breakpoints do not work anymore!

    Hello.

I have a very strange problem. Don't know exactly when it appeared, but previously he worked. When the program in Simulator with plugin Eclipse to debug, I can't get a tune-up of the code where the breakpoint.

The application thread is suspended (but I don't see any sign of the battery for some reason any), maybe that's why when the breakpoint is reached eclipse point me to the right direction.

Environment: Vista, Eclipse 3.4.2 JDE 4.6, Plugin 1.0.0.67

This could be the cause, any ideas?

    P.S. Here's a thread similar problem (unsolved): http://supportforums.blackberry.com/rim/board/message?board.id=java_dev&message.id=38226&query.id=38...

    Looks like this has helped.

I had all of my major classes named "MainApp" equally in all projects.

After I changed the class for each project names, IE 'MainApp1', 'MainApp2' then debugger started functioning properly!

  • Breakpoints at a standstill using Java/Eclipse/9000

    Hello

I am new to Java, please bear with me if this is a silly question.  Earlier today, I was running very well the breakpoints and dandy using the Simulator.  Subsequently each time that the code hits a breakpoint when I step over it sits there for centuries and finally (apparently) falls where dispatcher.

(If I don't put a breakpoint in the code load and works very well - it also doesn't seem to matter where I put the breakpoint)

Is this a known problem, or has someone met before and found a way to fix it?

    Thank you very much

    Dave

Thanks for your reply Mark.  I ended up changing to Eclipse to use Blackberry JDE and everything works again.

I haven't used Java well before doing so the passage makes little difference to me.

  • Eclipse + Java SDK 5.0.14 - single step broken

Given that some say debugging yesterday stopped working that breakpoints would stop the execution, but Eclipse cannot display the stack display for some threads.

I fixed this particular problem by running such clean.bat suggested in response to my original post.

Breakpoints are busy once again, but step by step is not.

Now, when I click step over or step in, the thread in the debugging pane shows (Stepping), then eclipse disappears for a long time (several minutes may be 10 or more minutes), he ends by suspends the thread again, but are generally not on the planned declaration.

While he is doing this its not generating page faults or using any CPU, it's just asleep.

Output of eclipse (cancel an attempt to progress stuck), I get the following errors in the eclipse workspace log

Delete the workspace and creating a new seem to have fixed step.

If I set a breakpoint when the breakpoint is reached, eclipse will attempt to display the breakpoint, but fails

    I see:

that is the call stack is missing information.  Also the IDE does not show the line containing the breakpoint on, or he helped stop icons.  Break is grayed out and resume is enabled (as it should).

If I disable all debug THEM, it is always breaking (except perhaps) but all I see in the debug window

    Hey Rakesh.

To see the output of the console, you will need to run the Simulator in debug mode. To do that just run your application by pressing the button on the left of the normal launch with the white triangle, one that looks like a bug.

Usually, it takes a little more time to run initially, but it you will see the output of the console and click breakpoints.

    Good luck

    in JDE - Debug - attach to-Pocket
    ignore all dialog boxes

  • reset of the debugger - RIM Plugin for Eclipse

    Hello

I'm trying to debug my application using Eclipse, however, almost every time that I have run the debugger, I get multiple messages when trying to locate the files.

"... No not found for debug information '... [filename]... » "

I have to click Cancel on all these dialog boxes, then Eclipse says that the debugger cannot debug properly, and it ignores all breakpoints in the application.

Anyone know what is happening or how to reset the default debugger?

    Thank you

This means that .debug in workspace files do not match those in the directory of the Simulator.  This could be caused by applications stored in the Simulator to a different workspace directory or by an application that has been modified since it was deployed on the Simulator (can occur when switching between component packages).

You can reset the Simulator returns to its default state by running the clean.bat file located in the directory below.  Note that this will delete all data and third-party applications of Simulator.

    .\Eclipse\plugins\net.rim.Eide.componentpack4.#.#_4.#.#.##\components\simulator

  • Impossible to debug in Eclipse

    Hello

I'm trying to debug an application in a true smart phone BlackBerry. I use Eclipse for a 8703e with OS 4.2.1.110.

When I run the debug option, he tell me that I lack the net_rim_app_manager.debug file. I saw on the forum I need to navigate to the folder of the Simulator and select the correct file. I tried with all version of Simulator and Eclipse always telling me that I don't have the right file. I've read elsewhere that I need the exact os version of the Simulator, but there is no RIM Web site. I use the 4.1.0.359 version so that the Simulator for the 8703e.

If I ignore the error message, as I read in another post, debugging starts, but my breakpoints doesn't work.

What can I do? Any ideas? I really need to debug on the real device, cause all works on the Simulator, but I have problem in the actual device.

    THX

I found the problem! The version was not quite the same thing (only an IP in a change of HttpConnection) so the debugger do not stop.

For all the people who have this problem, make sure you have the exact same version of the application installed and use in Eclipse (do not add a space online!).

    Thx for the support

  • HelloWorld deploys in Eclipse under Simulator 8130 but not 9500 Simulator

I followed the steps of http://www.thinkingblackberry.com/archives/21

If I take the JDE 4.5.0 with 8130 Simulator, I can navigate to the HelloWorld icon, click on it, the application is running, I can hit breakpoints, etc.

I turn then to the JDE 4.7.0, erase the files of Simulator (Blackberry |) Delete file Simulator | Erase all) and change the simulator of default to 9500 in Debug Configurations

When I run the Simulator, get the series of messages in the window of the Console of Eclipse as the Simulator rises. If I then click on the BB button to get more icons, then click on the "Applications" button, I do not see any which HelloWorld icon and I don't see no up/down arrows that show that there are more icons. Am I missing something obvious? Here's what I see:

  • Flex app not showing any error in Eclipse, but don't be

    Hello

I am developing an application in flex/BlazeDS/Java in eclipse and my problem is since my changes in the code do not not appear while the application is running. There is no received eclipse error, when I try to clean up the project. It is deployed correctly, but it seems to work with the old code and reflecting only changes. I tried to put the breakpoint too but it says: "breakpoint cannot be placed here because there is no executable code in this line.

    Hello

Well, I never re - install the FlexBuilder (standalone, or eclipse-plugin) because any error.

Your output in Flex Build Path on your project properties is correct? Another question, can you work with Java? Several times the project to have a 'mistake' on the configuration and the deployment directory is not listening by the web server.

    Example:

If I'm working with Java and my CATALINA_HOME is: C:\tomcat\ - my webapps is localizated on: C:\tomcat\webapps\MYWEBAPP\ but my output on FlexProject folder is: C:\MyProject\Flex\bin-debug and I run the application, the application will not work...

Then. can you show your configuration? Is easier to understand your problem and help you.
