• Bridge CS4 crashes system

  I suddenly have a problem with Bridge CS4 causing my computer to crash (blue screen of death), whenever I try to use the bridge.  I contacted Adobe through their 'portal' several times over the past week and have received no help whatsoever.  I also called their hotline on three occasions and was assured that someone would be in touch, but heard nothing.  I'm a week on this problem and cannot use CS4 and bridge.  I uninstalled (thorough cleaning) and reinstalled CS4 four times and the problem persists.

  This seems to do it for me. I was a point where CS4 Bridge wouldn't even launch, so I first made the tour to hold Ctrl-Alt-Del at the launch and allowed me to restore preferences and she launched without problem (never uninstalled or reinstalled CS4). Immediately, I went into the preferences advanced and changed software rendering. The I tried all the movements that gave me the BSOD and it kept just to work. So I cross my fingers that at least will continue to work until the next version.

  Of course, I understand the mileage may very for others, but worth a try, it worked for me.

  Have tried to open Bridge in El Capitan of applications and also 'browse them in Bridge' of Photoshop CS4, but bridge keeps crashing. I know that CS4 is getting old, but if PhotoShop CS4 works, why not fill... suggestions welcomed.

• Recovery of the Bridge CS4 keywords

  My hard drive crashed and I replaced with a new and improved the o/s to W7 from XP MCE simultaneously.  I got my PSD, JPEG and pictures from camera raw (canon CR2) of the old drive and when I started the bridge in the new facility but most of my "custom" keywords don't appear in the list of keywords, or they don't seem to appear in the EXIF data.  Is there a way to retrieve this info from the old disk image?  (this is the boot drive).

  The keywords under XP file should be here: C:\Documents and Settings\ [user] \Application Data\Adobe\Bridge CS4\Adobe bridge Keywords.xml. You will need to copy to this folder to win7: c:\Users\[user]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Bridge CS4\

  This file contains only the list of keywords in the keywords Panel, when you apply keywords to your files, they are stored in the metadata of the files themselves, unless you're talking about in this case raw files, they must be stored in a. XMP file

  CR is not sold separately.  It is integrated into some adobe programs.

  You can use the dng converter.  they are free from adobe, but don't fit in the programs.

  CS4 software will not work under El Capitan (Mac OS X 10.11). The software is too old and will never be updated, because it is the end of life.

  You need to restore a previous version of the operating system or upgrade Adobe Creative Cloud.

  • You can get rid of Photoshop elements 11, but I think you should keep the other application where you need it.
  • Adobe Bridge is the kind of an organizer.
  • The extension manager is used to install plugins adobe or third, but 4 CS is old enough, the most recent version is CC

  I think you can get rid of them, once you make sure you don't need those for your work.

  Well, Yes and no. You can use bridge CS4, but you can not update the raw converter, then you will not be able to see the pictures or make conversions from cameras raw files that are not old enough. But the bridge file types associations should automatically update to send pictures on PES 12 for editing.

  However, although I'm not a fan of the Organizer, is, there is something in your message which can be a misunderstanding:

  The Organizer is just a database.   Your CR2 files the 60 d are not supported for your version of ACR.

  Each provider uses different kind of Raw and sadly enough they also use another type of crude oil for every new camera produces. Adobe offers a free upgrade for the cameras, about 3 or 4 times a year. In the past, that they could not get new types of Raw earlier while consumers so often that meant you had to wait a long time before the ability to ACR was there. Today, they have a better relationship and often get pre model of production for the updates are already there when new cameras are entering the market.

  However being a commercial company, they don't offer upgrades for others then the latest versions of Photoshop and ACR. Currently, CS6 and CC are both get updates but the previous version don't are not updated any longer.
