Towel makes a folder on your desktop.  In Windows Explorer, you'll find it under C:\Documents and Settings / [username] / Desktop/Briefcase.

To remove the Briefcase on your computer, right-click on the icon portfolio (on your desktop).  Then click on remove.

I was told that the use of portfolio can result in loss of data. Is this true? How?

    Hello

In aid of the Briefcase to store files does not result in data loss. However, for reasons uncertain when you perform certain actions on the files in the Briefcase on another computer data on the Briefcase cannot synchronize properly which can roll down the changes to the other computer.

  • Briefcase and not being able to open files

I created a case and sent to a public folder in the office then sent the case to another office.  Added email and document to this file, but now when I try to open it, it says the file is open on another computer and can not be open - or something like that.  No other files are open.  Notice also that in the case in short there are folders with the same name and with the same files? -How can I access this information on just this computer?

    Hi, Pat.

Go in your Briefcase and for all files that are NOT tagged orphan

Right-click on the file and select Properties.

Click on the update status tab

    Click Split from Original

Press Yes and your file is back for an orphan.

If you wish to continue using the synchronization options with the towel (on 2 or more computers) and you get this message when you try to save a file, close all folders and/or the portfolio himself and you should have access to the towel.

    http://www.computing.NET/answers/Windows-XP/Briefcase-is-in-use-by-another-comp/92485.html

Until you try to synchronize the Briefcase, make sure that all files are closed.

You can use Briefcase to keep files in sync between two different computers, even if the computers aren't on the same network. If the computers aren't on the same network, you can copy files from one computer to another by using removable media, work on those files using the other computer, and then use Briefcase to sync the changes back to the original computer only.

  • Briefcase does not

I use Microsoft cases on one for many years and am overall pretty happy with them.  I didn't have the used for several years, but he was happy to see that they have always supported in W7.  I hope that someone out there still know how to solve them!

I use several Briefcase to synchronize files to a network drive on a USB flash drive.  When I'm at work, I work with files directly, but when I'm working remotely (which is often), I just use the Briefcase because it is much faster than the work through my internet connection to the network drive.  It worked fine for 6 months and more, except for a case occasionally briefcases becomes orphaned.  That was quite rare however.  Also, I want to talk about hundreds of cases per towel, actually, I just checked and there are 300-400 MB per towel.  BTW, I have someone who works with me on this project, and that he was also using the Briefcase.

Lately, I've been a couple of strange things begin to happen.  The question, I'm looking for help is that today ' today, I tried to update the Briefcase, and each of them tells me that files that are modified in places, the original network drive and the portfolio, should be deleted.  Of course, this is meaningless.  Also, when I checked on individual files, 99% of them show up with a status of "updated", but these are the same files that Windows tells me should be deleted.

I didn't know this before behavious, or if I have, it was followed soon after by the orphan, I guess because it's a sign of corrupt Briefcase.  The problem is that I just created these binders yesterday, and everything must be up to date (and in fact appears when you check the status).

FYI, I use Citrix to connect to the network drive, and I use the version of Citrix Windows Explorer to check the status of the files (I can't use the local version of Solution Explorer, because it will not see the network drive).  At work, I'm running XP, and remotely, I use W7.  As I said, this arrangement has worked well for many months.  Also, for the record, because I had a few problems last week, I removed several folders of each towel, so the overall size of the file is less than it was before (when it was working perfectly).

Let me know if you need other information.  Thank you.

    ===========

Quick update: I have also examples where it shows the network version Unmodified, the Briefcase version changed, even though I know that's not, and the recommended action is skip - modified time.  Very strange.

  • This Briefcase requires a newer version of the software

I have a Briefcase on my portable USB. I use it to keep documents up-to-date between my work computer and my Mac computer. I recently got a new computer at work 64 bit and now when I try to open / update of the towel to work the following message to apperars: "this Briefcase requires a newer version of the software.

How can I get the latest software and open My Briefcase?

    Thank you

    Hello

I recommend to create a new Briefcase on 64-bit Windows computer and copy the content in there and then you can sync with your 32 bit and it should work perfectly.

    I hope this helps.

Accidentally removed form office "My Briefcase".

Although the "Briefcase" appears as an icon on your desktop, it's actually a folder.  You can use Windows Explorer to display the folder and all its contents.  The path is usually:

    C:\Documents and Settings\nom Name\Desktop\Briefcase

When you delete a file or folder in Windows XP, the deleted item usually moves to the basket.  Open your trash.  If that is the case, you can restore it to its normal position.

If you have emptied the Recycle Bin, then the previous Briefcase folder will not be available - and you will need to create another.

  • Briefcase synchronization

I sync files on a network drive by using the Briefcase. The network drive has been moved to a new server and now has a new path. Is there a way to change the Briefcase to synchronize with the original files that are now on the network drive with the new path?

  • Cannot open the Briefcase error: an unknown error has occurred. Some of your files were copied not

    Original title: TOWEL PROBLEM

I can't open My Briefcase. Whenever I try to open it, a message appears saying "an unknown error has occurred. Some of your files were not copied. "What to do now to open? Please help me...

I know it's probably a bit late for mate you, but for someone else the problem, the solution is quite simple.

    Location of the sample: C:\users\user\documents\briefcase

(Briefcase is replaced with the name of your Briefcase)

If your location is like this: c:\users\john smith\documents\briefcase

You need to move the Briefcase to another location that does not have spaces inside and if necessary rename your Briefcase is only a single word.

Now, create a new folder and rename it again and drag the towel she

    New example: C:\Users\User\Documents\New\Briefcase

Now, press windows + R (run...)

    Type cmd

    Click Ok

    Type the following command:

    Robocopy c:\users\user\documents\new\briefcase\ c:\users\user\documents\new\ *. * /E /XD c:\users\user\documents\new\ b

This will move the contents of your bag in the new folder that you created.

  • orphaned files in a saved Briefcase

How can I update the orphaned files in the Briefcase of vista on my laptop hard drive? I need to keep these files because they are all my photos. Am running vista & not tech talk savvy. My drinking drive is a usb kensington with ceedo on it. Thank you

    Hello

If the files are actually orphans that the only hope to recover would be to make some sort of data recovery using 3 third party software.

Note: Using third-party software, including hardware drivers can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the use of third-party software can be solved. Software using third party is at your own risk.

There is a Microsoft article that treats the orphaned files and that you can do to attempt to recover: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb457122.aspx

I suggest you consult a service of recovery of the aid.

A sandbox is a security mechanism for separating running programs. It is often used to run the code untested, or unapproved programs from third parties not verified suppliers, untrusted users and unreliable websites.

Briefcase is a special folder that supports two-way synchronization of files between himself and another folder.

Do, or you have installed Chrome? It appears that an update of Chrome, (mid April 2013), is responsible for the loss of the option new folder. Even if Chrome has not been installed, here are two patches.
