Brightness contol HP Pavilion 17 '' screen

New Pavilion 17 "came with Win OS 8.1.   After extreme frustration 2 weeks with OS 8.1, with the advice of the part 3ed professional tech, had him rub off 8.1 and install Win 7 Pro OS.   This caused a loss of functionality of screen brightness, the display is very bright and washed out.  I tried to reload just the driver of keyboard OEM for brightness control & contract rather but that did not work because of the incompatibility between the OEM 8.1 driver and Pro 7, OS.  Then I went to some old drivers of HP keyboard for 7 Pro 64 bit OS systems.  That did not work.  I spend a lot of time in front of the screen so it is for me to get it working well. Either I get a good suggestion or HP goes back to the seller and I buy an Apple.   (lesson learned: Microsoft screwed PC manufacturers and the flight to the continuous Apple, HP, Dell and ohters loss.)  BUY NOT win 8 machines is my advice).

Well, if you want confirmation, you can be 100% certain what I say is correct just you go to Device Manager and clicking to expand the category of display cards.

If the driver has been installed, you would see an adapter graphics AMD Radeon (TM) R5 that are listed there.

But I'm willing to bet that you will see only a VGA Standard listed adapter.

It is a generic driver load Windows so you can see the screen.  That's all.  You can not adjust the resolution of the screen.

You cannot adjust the brightness and if you put any kind of load on the graphics, you would get a graph of acceleration is not enabled error.

If for some reason that this driver does not work then use this one instead.  It is more recent, and it worked for another Member of the forum with a similar model with the exact same processor and graphics card has your model.

    Hi @Sherzad1,

    Please try the alternative below:

    • Go to Start Menu > search and type "Device Manager", and then launch Device Manager
    • Scroll down to the entry of graphics cards in the list of devices and expand the option. Right-click on the display drivers and choose Update driver software from the context menu.
    • In the menu of the interface that ensued, choose Browse my computer for driver software.
    • Then choose the option "Let Me pick from a list of drivers on my computer"
    • In the next screen, select Microsoft Basic graphics card in the list under the section Show compatible hardware . Then click Next to continue.
    • Windows must now install the selected driver and the display driver problem should no longer affect your screen brightness function. You should now be able to increase or decrease the brightness of the display without hassle.

    Hi there @antonio55,

That the Forums are with you!  I understand that you are looking for advice on how to clean your screen.  I'm happy to give you a helping hand with this.

Please see: HP monitors - Safety and Maintenance Guidelines, under the heading "Cleaning the monitor" for details of cleaning, but be sure to read both safety related information.  Depending on what you mean by "halos" try following the instructions for the materials to be used. If you have in the past used something on the list of cleaning products do not turn out to serve, you may have already damaged a part of the screen.

Please let me know if it works for you and if it does not solve your problem, please mark this message as a solution. Bravo would be appreciated as well.

    I offer this suggestion.

If you ask a help, it is best to register the exact model number or product number.  Probably your G6 is unable to do as you want, because it's a laptop with limited capabilities. Then, without your model number exact number/product, it is difficult to know.

    You said:

The screen changes alone, I noticed when I'm in power saving mode.

    Hello

Here are a few things to check.

1 right-click the battery in the taskbar icon, and select Power Options.  Click on change settings for the plan alongside your selected power plan, and in the next window, click on change advanced power settings.  In the advanced settings window, expand display, and then expand Enable Adaptive brightness - make sure it is set to Off for on battery and sector.  Click apply then Ok to save the configuration changes.

    2. open windows control panel and on the top right, next to the display by: select "large icons".  In the new page layout, select Intel HD Graphics.  Click the power and in the next screen, select on battery in the left pane - under the Display Power Saving Technology option, put on Disable.  Click on apply and then OK to save any setting changes.

  • Backlight HP Pavilion g6 screen flickers

    Hello

my laptop computer screen backlight turns off, when I rest my hand on the left side of the touch pad. The darkening of the screen can also reproduce when a little pressure is applied on the case just above the ethernet port or the helmet.

When the screen goes black, I can see that everything is working normally, if I shine on it with a lamp or strong light. The resulting effect seems to be the same as if I would have lowered the minimum brightness.

When I do not press the region described above, the screen is fine. I don't know that this problem is not associated with software or operating system. I googled a lot and I think it is lose connection on the inverter?

One last thing - if associated idk - sometimes, when I start the laptop, the backlight is turned off and I have to change it by pressing F3.

    Thanks for the suggestions.

    Václav

    Too bad

I found the solution myself. The laptop has not been properly isolated between the upper part of the casing (where keyboard and touchpad are) and the part of the motherboard from the case, particularly above the VGA port and ethernet port. This caused a problem of conductivity and probably also the question of the brightness when you press the case down on his left side. I solved it by placing small pieces of tape for insulation under the keyboard and especially the two ports.

    Hi there @mikie69

I understand that you are looking for a method adjust the laptop lid to be tighter. I'm happy to help you with this.

As it is an older model, it is not very likely that spare parts are more readily available, but I still think you might find this operating manual.

HP Pavilion zx5000 Notebook PC, HP Pavilion zv5000 PC notebook, Compaq Presario R3000 Notebook PC, HP Compaq nx9100 Notebook PC - Maintenance and Service of Guide

Page 146 of 272 in the manual, you will find instructions on how to replace the entire screen. If you use that you can find a way to adjust the hinges to make what you need. Just be careful, because as I mentioned before, if something is broken, pieces will probably not an option, although, if necessary, you can try the parts store.

    I hope this helps.

  • 550-153no Pavilion: four screens on a HP Pavilion 550-153no

I just bought a HP Pavilion 153no 550, and I want to connect four screens. (Not necessary for the use of heavy graphics, just for business applications).

Can I remove the supplied AMD Radeon R5 330 and install a cheap graphics card which can drive two screens? For example, the edge AMD Radeon R7 will continue to work and be capable of driving two screens, despite the withdrawal of the AMD Radeon R5 330 and her feeling that there is an another graphics card installed?

Or do I have to install a graphics card that can drive four monitors? I think the AMD over-pants W4100. There is need for power is "less than 50 W", like the AMD Radeon R5 330, which should be possible without having to upgrade the power supply?

    Hey there @RenniePet,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support! It's a good place to find the help you need, other users, the HP experts and other members of the support staff. I understand that you want to connect 4 screens on your computer and I am happy to help you with this.

Looking desktop HP Pavilion 550 - 153no product specifications, in the section on the integrated graphics card, it says "integrated graphics card does not work if a graphics card is installed.

So no, the integrated graphics card will not work with another installed graphics card. So if you try to use four screens, you will need to put in a graphics card that provides for this. The jury has only available following expansion slots:

We went to the HP support website and went through several diagnotics.  When you restart the laptop the screen on the laptop starts flashing images of my top of counter, but once the machine starts the screen remains empty.  You can see the glow on the edges, but that's all.  I have another connected currently monitor and the system works fine except for that.  We also have the following, hard reset, Test for memory modual problems, test the hard drive.  I also tried to update the video drivers, but the system tells me that the drivers do not work properly.

It's very frustrating because I'm a student and really need my laptop.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thank you in advance,

    ACameli

    Hi ACameli,

Thank you for visiting the Forums HP's Support and welcome. I read your thread on your HP Pavilion Notebook g7 and get a blank screen or black at startup. Try perform a reset. When you perform a hard reset note remove all USB devices and remove cards memory card reader location. Disconnect all non-essential devices. If that doesn't help try to turn on the computer, on which you begin to press F11 repeatedly until the menu opens. You can do a System Restore. System Restore will restore the computer to a time when it worked correctly. If you are able to see the book then connect to a monitor, it is not the graphics card or HARD drive. It could be the LED. The only way to find out is to check with a repair shop. LED can be tested in the DMM and they would have to this device. I'd be happy to help you to give you a number if necessary. How can I find my model number or product number?

    Please let me know.

    Thank you.

  • Re: Brightness control for Pavilion dv6

I can't adjust the brightness of my screen using the Fn keys or the control panel... I had to replace my battery once...  I need to be able to adjust the brightness in order to save the life of my battery!

    Thank you.

    SHE FOUND!

All are still unable to solve the problem, try the following:

Start > Control Panel > hardware and sound > Device Manager

Once the Device Manager opens, expand the tab 'monitors '.

Left click and uninstall the monitor listed.  Make sure you also check the box that says remove drivers.

Then select the scan for hardware change icon

Sounds weird, but the setting screen brightness should reappear.
