Broken Safari address bar

I use Safari on OS X 10.11.3 9.0.3.

Just recently I noticed that my address/search in Safari bar is unusable. I don't see anything I type in. Text overlap in the address bar. hit the return does not start navigation. Suggested sites that usually appear under the address bar will be Flash for less than a second that disappear whenever you click on the address bar. I resorted to Firefox (which, fortunately, I had downloaded in the past as a backup browser) just to write this question. Someone at - he seen this before? It's new to me...

    Hi all

This morning web Safari address bar stopped working without reason. I am using El Capitan for a couple of months now and I have not installed anything new in a few days, so I can't associate this problem with any specific application.

    Here are a few screenshots:

As you can see, the address bar is not only without (I can't write and it doesn't redirect me to another site, or perform searches), but it also displays the current URL in a weird way. I noticed that in fact I can write but just, the text not displayed and overlaps the existing URL.

I tried many things proposed in this forum (disabling and uninstalling all extensions, by removing the file preferences, guest user, and safe connection...)

I'm a little confused, so I would appreciate your clues to solve this problem, because I really like safari.

    See you soon,.

I had the same problems, everything was resolved by installing the OS El Capitan X update they come out earlier. (Your computer must invites you to update, but if it is not already, you can launch App Store and click Update at the top, it must wait for you.) Good luck!

  • Bar do not use the Safari address search engine

My address bar of Safari only acts as a search engine occasionally. Usually when I type something in the address bar that is not a Safari URL by default one Google search. For example if I typed "How to feed your goldfish" in the address bar, add Safari "-google search" in the expression I would be redirected to a Google search. Sometimes, when I type a Google search in the treats Safari address bar it as a URL. 'How to feed your goldfish' would be to redirect to the how%20to%20feed%20your%20goldfish.com Web page. No idea why? My goldfish is hungry

In your Safari menu bar, click Safari > Preferences , and then select the Privacy tab.

Click on: data to remove any Web site

Quit and then restart Safari to test.

  • Safari search/address bar of copy to URL problem

This has been a problem for about a year, I think that, maybe more, even if I don't specifically remember.

I often use search/address bar of Safari for searches on the internet, probably 90% of the time.  Sometimes, I want to share these search results with others.  The problem is, when I click in the address/search bar to select and copy the URL of the site, I visited, the URL is replaced with the search parameters that I had previously placed instead of the URL of the site that I actually visit.  It is not that this all the time, but very often.  Now that I'm trying to replicate, I can't, even though it took place just 20 minutes ago.  I was finally able to recreate by opening a new Safari window.  It is perhaps connected to tabs how do I open in the window?  Here is a screenshot.  Any ideas of what could be the cause?

    Try a reboot.

Make a backup using Time Machine or a cloning program, to ensure that data files can be recovered. Two backups are better than one.

Try to set up another admin user account to see if the same problem persists. If back to my Mac is enabled in system preferences, the guest account will not work. The intention is to see if it is specific to an account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.

Isolate a problem by using a different user account

If the problem is still there, try to start safe mode using your usual account.  Disconnect all devices except those necessary for the test. Shut down the computer and then put it up after a 10 second wait. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the SHIFT key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. Startup is considerably slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a check for directory and disables all start-up and connection, among other things. When you restart normally, the initial restart may be slower than normal. If the system is operating normally, there may be 3rd party applications that pose a problem. Try to delete/disable the third-party applications after a reboot using the UN-Installer. For each disable/remove, you need to restart if you do them all at once.

  • Bar no longer works with the latest update of El Capitan of Safari address/search

Last night, I allowed my MacBook Pro was updated to the latest version of El Capitan (10.11.3).

Safari is now unusable. It is impossible to type anything in the address bar, a URL or a search term. I can click on the text field, but no cursor appears and typing not going anywhere I had to switch to the use of Google Chrome!

Is there a fix in the pipeline for this?

All of a sudden, I can't do anything type in the address/search bar in Safari. I tried everything I can think of to fix it. I searched the internet and support forums of apple, did a restore from a previous backup and finally reinstalled OS x. Nothing works. The only way I've gotten on the apple web site is because my home page has been set to Xfinity, and it has a search capability. Any ideas?

  • Safari now closes when you click on the address bar

Hey all, recently I went to a Web site with a pop - up I accidentally clicked while trying to scroll down around him. After clicking on the pop-up a new tab tried opening that I immediately closed, as well as the 1st original tab open. I have then double click the home button on the iPhone and crept up to close the application currently open safari. But then when I restarted safari, whenever I click on the URL address bar to type something, it immediately closes on my safari. Now, I'm not completely clueless when it comes to try to empty the pop ups, I have delt with the "FBI warning all ' on my and several other phones... so I tried the history of obvious and this compensation that not, but still my safari stops if I touch the address at the top of the page bar.

    So far I have tried:

    1. Double-click on the House, by sweeping up app close
    2. "Restart iPhone' holding the home button and top 10 seconds
    3. ' 'Parameters '; Safari. " 'Clear the history data and the Web site '.
    4. DIssbling JavaScript in 'advanced configuration' for safari
    5. Entered into airplane mode / click on the address bar - still farm safari down
    6. Loading of several empty tabs and clicking on their URL

And just to be more specific, if I copy and paste a link I am able to visit a Web site... but again if I go to a website and immediately click on the address bar it will close and restart safari.

OR if I load up Safari in 'Private' I'm finally able to click on the address bar and type websites like Google.com and it works perfectly fine, but if I get out of private and try to type in Google.com, it closes...

    Any ideas?
