BSO & ASO

Why have we not maintain an ASO and OSB for Application
all calculations in a (BSO) and ASO just for reporting... What's sole purpose... I guess it will be good for 100 user... what happens if we have 9 users and data is very very less so, that we must use this

pls recommend it in what scenarios need to maintain these BSO and ASO as format

"Why do we maintain an ASO and OSB for Application.

You have not, it was a decision made by the person who designed and implemented the solution. Is it the right choice? Hard to say without a full review of the system.

You know the difference between the OSB and ASO, so you need to know if there are features in your needs can be performed in one or the other. Looks like you have a large sparse data, but some requirements for complicated Calc. The few large data will be too much for BSO and ASO can't do the calcs complex, so it sounds like one that built, he came upward with a way to load large scattered data model ASO, agg, then move some data to OSI for complex Calc and then maybe move the results to ASO, or just report at the same time I do not know. Anyway you can't get rid of a if it's going to prevent you from getting the results you need. Since ASO cannot make complex Calc you need to look and see if you can get into BSO app and see how long it will take to process. BSO may be large and before ASO he had some really large BSO apps. 64 bit OS makes it also easier to have a large BSO databases. The question comes down to how fast you need it to be. I have a big app BSO which lasts 12 hours to process. If this window is ok, then fine, if you want big data and it want agg in less than an hour you might not be a choice.

  • What is the member limit for BSO and asked ASO to 11.1.2.2?

    Hi gurus,

I need to know what is the maximum member limit requests for BSO and output 11.1.2.2 ASO (which means that the maximum number of members can we have in the outline for BSO/ASO). Also, I need to know what is the maximum limit membership to a Hyperion Planning application?

We are planning on creating a hyperion, planning an application that could be partitioned with ASO (target). Could you gurus please tell me is it possible? I know that oracle does not support and recommend this right now.

  • Cubes of financiers as ASO?

    Hello

One of my clients is planning to convert its BSO cubes to ASO to improve loading and calculation times. Cubes contain financial data and are used to generate financial statements (P & L, balance sheet, cash flow, etc.) for the current and future years. These cubes also hold forecasts given outside actual expenditures, which are responsible for the ERP system.

Now, I am aware of the fundamental differences between the structure of the ASO and BSO cubes - I worked on financial BSO cubes and of simple cubic ASO in the past.

But depending on complexity of financial forecasting applications, this idea of the conversion of BSO ASO feasible and viable? Can do the complex calculations of BSO cube in these cubes managed by MDX in ASO?

    Indications will be useful.

    Thanks in advance

    G.S.

    Hello

We have a similar requirement of our customer. Only calculations that can be converted are the member formulas. If you have a lot of scripts of calculations, it can become very difficult. Also remember that Aso, you can only enter at level 0. So if you non-niveau entries 0 members, you will lose this feature. Under x 11, ASO supports time of balance sheet accounts, so it's a good thing if you have a balance report.

  • Smartview error

    Hi all

We have essbase version 11.1.2.2.100. I have 3 essbase cubes. 2 are ASO(Test1,Test2) and 1 BSO (Test3). I have also 2 transparent wall between ASO-ASO(Test1-Test2) and BSO-ASO(Test3-Test1) (both ASO targets are the same).

I created the partition without error or warning. Now when I try to connect Test1 cube smartview, I get an error below. I copied the error in the log file.

    [Fri Jun 14:00:40 28 2013] Local/Test1/Test1/admin@Native Directory/7980/Error (1023134)

Application grid size exceeds the limit [10000000]. Increase by using the configuration in MAX_REQUEST_GRID_SIZE

Here his suggests to increase MAX_REQUEST_GRID_SIZE. I've implemented it 1 billion but I get an error.

Do any body has any idea about this error.

  • Time of calculation relative to the size of the db

    Hello

I have a database with versions and various scenarios. I have an estimate every night (not just an aggregation) that runs on a scenario and version. As other versions and scenarios have been created, the size of the database has grown up a bit, and the nightly calculation every time develops new scenario/version data sets are created. Has always been my understanding that education fix limit the number of blocks in the calculation, and in theory, existing data in other intersections not being set to should have nothing to do with the calculation time. However, this is not my experience. I even tested out in app development by erasing all the data in 8 of the other versions and scenarios and saw my time reduced by 27%. Does anyone know why this should be? It comes to me that we save more historical copies of the data, the computing time on the active data will grow and develop.

We are currently implementing a BSO/ASO solution to reduce the data in the cube of the BSO, but I do not see why it should be necessary and want all overview of this.

    Thank you

    Sabrina

You can be calculate on these blocks, but the charge of these operations increases grows the database

Whenever he has to calculate on a block, it must go in the index file - find the location of the block in the .pag file, and then open the .pag file and integrate this memory block.

I am not opposed to the segregation of historical data which is not often used and which moving a cube separated from a design perspective, and it probably would be a good idea if the cycle on your calcs time take forever.

You can try and improve performance by changing the cache settings - but that is performance tuning and is beyond the scope of your original question.

  • BSO in ASO by EPMA

    Hello

I'm looking for a way in which I can copy my plan of HPB BSO to an ESSBASE ASO by EPMA contour. I know there is a wizard in the Console of Regional service, but copied via essbase outline is reflected not in EPMA. If you are looking for a way in which I can get in EPMA made itself.

    Thank you.

No idea why you even don't manage applications of Essbase in EPMA, but couldn't convert you the BSO app to a new application of ASO in EA and then use the transformation EPMA Wizard in the workspace to convert classic EPMA.

  • BSO in ASO data push when the data is saved to the form online

    Hi all

I'm in a Situation where I need to send data from Cube BSO to ASO cube whenever a user saves data to the online form.

If the background is that the user will enter a data in a cube BSO using the online form. When registering online, data must be pushed in reporting cube ASO user which will see at the end.

BSO cube is created using the EMPA and ASO is Pure Essbase cube.

  • How to change the 'Drive' for the BSO cubes (just like we do using "alter tablespace" for ASO cubes) using MAXL etc.?

    Hello team,

I'm trying to make a backup copy of the cube by using the copy commands, BSO

but after copy, I need to change the drive letter (for the data and indexes of the files) using MAXLs.

I am able to do for cubes ASO using "Alter tablespace" i.e. for example, change "D:\" car ' to 'E:\. "for the tablespace files.

I need to do the same for the BSO cubes? any idea?

    Kind regards

    Amit

Don't forget while you can also change the drive it can't displace data. You would have to export the data, delete the database, change the disks, and then reload.

For the actual command of MaxL watch the MaxL Alter Database command. You can add, dorp or set volumes of disk for ind and pag files

  • transparent wall with BSO (src) and ASO (tgt)

    Hello

I just want to confirm if we can have a transparent wall with BSO as source and ASO as target. Both my cubes ASO and OSB have given and are essbase cubes. So I want to display the data that is already there in my cube ASO and also it is in OSB.

I went through the documentation and it is said that this configuration is supported. But I just wanted to confirm until I started my design.

    Thanks in advance!

Yes, it is a combination of supported but I think that the ASO target database should have no local data and may not contain partitions.

  • BSO to the conversion of the ASO - helps the formula of Member

We have a BSO cube and it is converted to ASO. The account dimension has the attribute SOLDETEMPS properties, and therefore the time dimension cannot assign to either dynamic or multiple hierarchies because of which I'm not able to define formulas for Member in the time dimension to ASO, this requires the dimension to be either dynamic or more hierarchies to have member formulas. MDX scripts is the way to go I'm not very familiar with the scripts, MDX and its use. Please advise and also I would like to know if there is another way to solve this problem.

do not use the properties of balance.

You will need to take the time to be dynamic, created shared hierarchy similar to

    FOR A YEAR
    Jan shared
    Feb shared
    ......

Then mark up your TB accounts with udas as TBFirst, TBLast, TBAverage.

You have two options where you can join the MDX formula of time CDA/QTD or attach the MDX formulas to members of the account saying IIF YTD then make first/last/moy.

You can choose between the two, if you have less number of accounts of TB, so I would say that set the formula to members as well as other members can obtain the value of CDA Member rolls.

  • Partition of several source BSO cubes to a single target ASO cube

    All,

I want to use Essbase 11.x to create a partition strategy which has several sources (all with the same number of dimensions) BSO cubes partitioned in a single target ASO cube, which has the extra dimensions that source BSO cubes. Is this possible?

    Thank you

Yes, you can certainly extend servers.

  • Sharing the values of substitution variables complex between ASO and BSO of databases

We ASO and Essbase BSO names of members of database with spaces in and need to store some of these member names in the substitution variables. However, this should be done differently for ASO and BSO, due to script syntax calc requiring double quotes and MDX requiring hooks. For example:

    ASO:
    & CurWeek value = 1 week
    MDX: [& CurWeek]

    ASF:
    & CurWeek value = "week 1".
    Calc script: & CurWeek

Therefore, the substitution variables can be shared between ASO and BSO, cubes because the value of the variable BSO requires double quotes because of the space in the name of the Member.

Is there a way to get the above to work with ASO and OSB? Unable to escape the quotes in the calc script syntax? Or double quotes can be removed in the MDX formula?

Yuck! I'm curious to see if someone has a really elegant solution to this. :)

I'm sure you have seen this already, but a workaround is to create an alias that is not a space (or probably better, use a name without a space Member but leave some space in the alias).

What is your specific motivation to avoid the solution two variables? If it is purely of synchronization, do not forget that even with a variable unique no guarantees of the formulas of Member ASO and BSO calc scripts will be always synchronized without a response, because the formulas (by the SER60) pick up not a new value until the application is restarted.

Not sure if I really understand your calculation for example why would you sum all the level zero members status ending if you're looking at a subset of members but whay I think that you might wish to is something like
Case When isAncestor ([(SDQ) (END)], [status ending] .currentmember) then
[End of the crude inventory] / SUM ({. currentmember.children [ending status]}, [[complete gross inventory])
    End

If you try to get the value of the current Member of the total stocks of crude end really the easier equation would be
[End of the crude inventory] / ([end status], [end of the crude inventory])
