BUG: Cursor JTextArea leaves trails while scrolling

Editing of large text files (1000 + lines) in a JTextArea when you scroll up/down with the keyboard sometimes the cursor leaves a trail (intermittently).

I've attached an example of screen shot to show the problem. It only seems to happen in Windows. In the picture, I hold in the arrow key down.

This bug seems to begin around Java 6 Update 14. I posted a prior bug report but never got any attention.

Any ideas?

Thank you.

Works fine on my machines (recompiled for java 6u32 Windows 7 laptop and presented as-is on the windows desktop 7u17 Java 7). I have blocked a lot of lines in there and I scrolled aimlessly with mouse and keyboard, no problems.

So yes... it shows the bug on your computer. Have you tried on others? He finds that since Java 6 update 10, Swing has a way of drawing accelerated by Direct3D which is enabled by default. If you run the application with - Dsun.java2d.d3d = false, the problem then disappears? If so your video drivers must suck - really.

  • Cursor duplicate in Word while scrolling on Satellite A100-159

I have a satellite A100-159. I have the following problem: in Word the cursor happens sometimes while scrolling. This means that during the scrolling I see two sliders that is 'left behind' and a real cursor (when I use PG. prev or PAGE down or box that disappears the cursor "left behind"). I already reinstalled Word and in other applications it doesn't seem to be a problem (but I have to say that I use the Word most, with large documents).

Any ideas to solve the problem?

    Best regards, Eddy

I think that happens because of fast scrolling of large, long word documents.
Unfortunately, I think it's a matter of Word and there is nothing to do.
But you suggested that happens sometimes, and only in Word so I think that it s a big problem.

  • Firefox hangs for a short second while scrolling.

Very well. I will do my best to explain this and the steps I tried in vain to resolve the issue.

Normal use (even without any addons at all) after a short time, 5-10 minutes, sometimes faster my Firefox stutters for a second, my mouse stops during stuttering and then it thaws. Once that starts happening, it happens VERY frequently, like all the other seconds, when I scroll to the top and to the bottom of a page is when it is more sensitive, the mouse cursor stops while firefox is 'frozen' and he returned after a short second.

I tried many things: I completely deleted firefox to my system, most of the registry entries, all linked files, deleted and I tried a fresh install again. That seemed to help for a second, but after a few minutes of browsing the symptoms return.

I have concluded that it is not addon for, as I began cool and does not have everything on my last attempt to reboot, that she was having the same problem with or without addons

I have tried this fix sessionstore.js, increasing the interval, disable it completely, that doesn't seem to help either.

This does not happen on Chrome, is that firefox does it. It is not even a serious if it's a website, if I scroll to the top and down on the troubleshooting page in firefox it stutters even while scrolling.

I tried everything I know to do, and I can't fix it myself. Please, if you can help I would appreciate it.

I solved this problem. The problem was my Ipod is connected to the computer. Whenever the ipod is plugged in, firefox stuttered and offbeat as indicated. I noticed when I got my ipod disconnected for a while to use another usb device, firefox has been resolved, I thought it was the update of this week to be fixed. Couple of days later, I plugged my Ipod in, the problem returned. But, since I started to load my ipod Besides, the problem disappeared. Thus, someone at - it still have this problem, check to see if you have an ipod, an iphone or another usb storage device is connected.

Try to install this driver Synaptics, let me know if it installs correctly or it fails. It is a specific driver for your touchpad.

  • Blinking cursor in line while scrolling

This problem has happened since I downloaded Firefox a few days ago. My problem is that when I scroll, a cursor blinking line thing or whatever is called spoil my scrolling to the bottom of pages. Instead the page just a little more each time I push the bottom and to the top of the arrow keys on my keyboard, the page instead jumps just at the top or bottom and every time he jumps, that thing little blinking line is still there (when I say "this thing little flashing line" I mean this flashing line that is always there when you) type something.). I have no idea how disable it (and Yes, I tried pushing the F7 key) and the thing becomes angry and I can't scroll pages of my site because of it. Anyone have any ideas?

Hello Nickc15, if you can leave caret browsing through the F7 key, tell him instead: enter on: config in the address bar of firefox (confirmed the message information where it appears) and search for the preference named accessibility.browsewithcaret. Double-click it, change its value to false and restart the browser eventually.

  • Someone had problems with Firefox 13.1 while scrolling of web pages

While most but not all of the words scrolling Web page get nervous and fuzzy. This same thing happened on version 13. I had no problem with 12 or those in front of her.

Someone decided to turn on the "smooth scrolling" in Firefox 13, and that could be the problem. Try turning off here:

Orange Firefox button or classic menu Tools > Options > advanced

In the mini ' General' tab, uncheck the box for "Use smooth scrolling".

You may need to restart Firefox for it to take full effect. Does that help?

  • Satellite R850 - cursor moves at random while typing

I use this R850 because it was provided by the work.
I found it almost as frustrating as the HP, I got to my previous job... and it's for the same reasons!

-The cursor moves randomly, then when typing I find I type completely in the wrong place.
-It removes random pieces of my work - particularly frustrating on a web page where there is no "undo" button
-When you use functions like drag in the editor, or highlight text, the touchpad is not always cooperative.
-Some random/spaces etc. letters do not occur despite proper pressure.

Quite frankly, it takes too much time to do things and I want to throw out of a dam in a deep lake.

No liquid has been spilled on it.
Are no crumbs in the keyboard.
This seems to be a defective product as the "HP Elitebook" I got last year!

This happened to me because I accidentally touched the touchpad while typing.
In my case I could solve this annoying problem issue but the option settings: disable the touchpad while typing.

This setting should be available in Control Panel-> mouse-> avancΘs

The other option is to disable the touch pad using the function key

Has anyone else had the same problem and have you known the problem solutions?

    Thanks a mill! Katie x

    Hi mate

I read on this issue of cursor on the different laptop models (from different manufacturers).
But in most cases, the users didn't note that the touchpad was accidentally while typing of touchpad.
You said you checked this hmm but in any case, try to disable the touchpad while typing just for test purposes

In addition, some have said that the BIOS update can also be useful
So if the most recent BIOS is available, updated it!

  • my cursor jumps again post while typing which makes typing it very difficult

installing updates and hope that a solution could be included

You are using a laptop with a touchscreen?  Chances are good that you accidentally touch the touchpad while typing, and that moves the cursor.  Go to start / Control Panel / mouse and see if there are controls for adjusting the sensitivity of the touchpad or to disable the touchpad while typing.  Go to the web site of the manufacturer of your and download the latest device drivers, firmware, and software for touchpad you and your mouse (if you also have a mouse - you may have to go the manufacturer of the mouse for these drivers, if she did not come with the system).  New updates can offer options that did not exist before like the ones I mentioned.

This happened to me also and I bought a separate mouse and disabled the touchpad and the problem disappeared - but he had me past for awhile until I finally figured it out by typing differently (with my hands up higher so the Palms do not touch and had no problem).  Even if this isn't the problem, update the drivers, firmware or software can solve the problem on its own.

If none of the works above, we will need either to run a complete troubleshooting procedures (post back and I'll meet with them) or the touchpad or mouse is defective and must be replaced.  You can discuss these last with the computer manufacturer when you talk to them (if you talk to them).

I hope this helps.  If you have any questions along the way, come back and I'll do my best to answer.

    Good luck!

  • How fix us a cursor that keeps jumping while SMS.

My laptop with windows 7 home, are problems with the cursor jumping around while SMS, what to do?

Most of the time when I met users and myself to this question, it tends to be that we were accidentally mouse pad contact area of the notebook causing the cursor to move. Try typing carefully kept your palms/inches clear of this mousepad and see if that helps the issue. If you need you can disable the mouse pad in the Device Manager and use an external mouse, if it proves to be too uncomfortable...

  • BlackBerry Smartphones help please - cursor does not not while browsing internet

    Hello

My Curve 8520 not long ago and fear I'm kinda a dinosaur techno so please bear with me! Wonder if anyone can help with this.

While browsing the internet my "slider" has suddenly stopped working. My "cursor" - the small black arrow - is still there but when hover over an area of research for example and "click on" my trackball that nothing happens, even if the little hand symbol appears on a link if I "click" the trackball that nothing happens. I discovered I can press return when the hand appears and it goes on the link, but this is unnecessary when only the arrow appears.

    Any assistance received with gratitude

    Ken

Its the kind of thing that could possibly be fixed by a battery pull.

With the BB powered, remove the battery and keep it for a few minutes. Let us know how you go.

  • graphical glitches while scrolling with more of an open pdf

I work for a service company HE managed. One user to one of my clients offices has encountered a strange problem with Adobe Acrobat Reader XI. With a single open pdf works XI player perfectly. With two or more files open at the time the program basically PDF stops, graphically speaking. Scrolling causes the pdf to become blurred to the point of being completely unreadable or navigable. Parts of the pdf scrolls while others will remain in place and essentially becomes spliced with some section files PDF was actually scroll to. So if the customer scrolls a half page the entire document will become chopped just pieces of parts at random the pdf document.

We have tried to reinstall, we tried to update, we have tried to repair the installation, nothing has no effect on the error. All Windows updates and updates to the graphics driver have both been implemented since the problem surfaced and made no difference at all.

The client recently upgraded to Windows 10 about a month or two ago, but the problem does not appear immediately after that it appeared just a few days ago.

Reader XI has been reinstalled after migration to Windows 10 and after that the problem appeared.

Someone knows something like that before? Does anyone know of all possible patches to this type of problem?

    Hi George,.

Can you please confirm that you are facing this problem with v11.0.13 as well.

Also please share a sample pdf with me at [email protected] so that we can try to reproduce this behavior in our end.

Please, try the following steps and I would, if it helped:

    Go in Edition > Preferences

    1. use a custom resolution

    2. try to disable smooth images, line art, improve the option lines

    Kind regards

    Rave
