Bug report: Power Manager causes performance slowed after resume from hibernation

I use Windows 7 and several versions of the power manager, including the last 6.63.1 of a 220 X.

If I Hibernate the computer, when I'm back, everything is very slow. For example, it takes several seconds for a page to display after clicking a tab in Chrome, but it's just an example, almost everything is unresponsive. This happens for about 5-10 min, but eventually everything will work normally. It seems to be related to the use of high page files. More I wait to take over after the hibernation, the biggest problem seems to be taking.

The deactivation of the service to be able to eat has not corrected the problem, but after uninstalling the power manager, the problem will disappear completely.

I've seen several reports of that of others. This person, it connects to Power Manager, but does not give many details.

http://answers.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/Forum/Windows_7-performance/unresponsive-after-resume-fro...

This person is also connected Power Manager, but gives a description of how he did, which can be useful for you.

http://asqueella.blogspot.com/2012/07/Windows-7-resuming-from-hibernation-is.html

I have reinstalled Power Manager, because the computer is unusable after hibernation. I love the program, however, so it would be nice if you can solve this problem.

Best wishes

Justin

Justin_KM,

I have discussed this with the Power Manager team and they think that this problem can occur because of a feature called Fast Hibernation summary power manager.  The idea is that Power Manager will page out most application on the drive memory before hibernation.  Then the hibernation file will be as small as possible, resulting in a faster recovery time.  But I guess it can cause this side effect, you found if several applications are page in a lot of memory, disk, after sleep.  Then you would end up with the use of the disc heavy and slow application performance, until finally the memory is restored from pagefile.

Anyway, if you want to retry Power Manager, please install the latest version and then apply this reg file to disable the feature that we believe that your problem is initially:

https://DL.dropboxusercontent.com/u/62276273/DisableFastHibernationResume.reg

Restart after applying the reg file.  This assumes that you are running 64-bit Windows.  If you are running 32-bit Windows, let me know and I'll give you a different reg file.

  • The computer hangs after resume from hibernation

I bought a gateway in 2007 with Vista Home Premium. Great hibernation worked until 7 months after a windows update (I forget which). Now, when I resumed from hibernation, it restarts and comes up with the screen asking me if I want windows to start normally or in safe mode, etc. Any ideas of what could be the cause? Also now, after I try to bring it from being asleep, the screen is black and the computer does nothing. I have to then it reboot. Thank you.

    Hello Mlhargrave,

Thank you for posting.  I found the solution to the problem of you in a Thread here on this site.

We found that sometimes the BCD file may have problems.

You can try this to fix the BCD file.

    1. run CMD. EXE as administrator

    2. run the following command: bcdedit - enum all

Search for "Summary of Hibernate" in the output of the command above (example below):

    Out of the hibernation

    ---------------------

    identifier {3d8d3081-33ac-11dc-9a41-806e6f6e6963}

    Device partition = C:

    path \Windows\system32\winresume.exe

    Windows Vista (TM) Enterprise (recovered)

    inherit {resumeloadersettings}

    FILEDEVICE partition = C:

    FilePath \hiberfil.sys

    PAE Yes

    debugoptionenabled No.

    3. Once you have found, copy the value of the identifier (in this example - {3d8d3081-33ac-11dc-9a41-806e6f6e6963})

    4. run the following command: bcdedit /deletevalue {3d8d3081-33ac-11dc-9a41-806e6f6e6963} inherit

    5. test of hibernation.

  • Satellite L40-139: new graphics driver is causing the problem after waking from sleep

I have a three month old Toshiba Satellite L40-139 (PSL40E) with 1 GB of RAM with Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium pre-installed. This laptop worked very well for me for the basic headquarters far tasks, and I would have no problem recommending.

In the last days I've updated the software and drivers from the Microsoft Update web site.

Since the update driver Mobile Intel(r) 945 Express Chipset Family (to version 7.14.10.1350, dated October 18, 2007), the screen resolution at 800 x 600 after awakening from the sleep state. The only way I found to fix it is to restart the PC.

Other articles published on the web, I understand that this particular driver (Mobile Intel(r) 945 Express Chipset Family driver 7.14.10.1350 version) has caused many other problems on a variety of hardware and software platforms.

Does anyone have a definitive solution for Satellite L40?

    I looked at four options.

    1. let the new installed driver and restart Windows each time after waking up from sleep mode. Rather, I must not do this.

    2. using the Restore Point created by Windows Update before the update of the driver, roll back to an earlier time. This seems to be a good course if it works.

3 download an older version of the driver and reinstall it. I don't know which version would work but note that others have had success with the 7.14.10.1280 version. I guess a similar version could be included in the driver Package that can be downloaded from Toshiba Europe site, but have heard that the time required to download this software can exceed ten hours and am therefore reluctant to try.

    4. the fourth option is not really possible. I should be able to "Roll-Back" the driver in Device Manager, but the button is disabled.

Although only a minor problem, it is very irritating and I would like to address them without causing other problems. Does anyone else have this problem? Someone has fixed it successfully?

    Hello Peter

If I understand correctly, you use your usual laptop for daily work and you don't need any computer high-performance notebook. If I'm right I have to say that you should be happy if the laptop works well and stable.

I don't really see any reason why you wanted to update chipset driver. In any case, you should try to roll back the BONES of time earlier and I hope everything will work again. There is absolutely no risk, and you can test it.

    Please post the result.

  • Very slow resume from hibernation.

I had a T60 before this SL500 and the recovery time after going into hibernation was much faster, even though the specification of the SL500 is much higher... Any ideas? I have defraged and optimized already.

I did a full reinstall OS and all drivers are up-to-date.

    Dear Toecutter

I applied programs pagedefrag and jkdefrag without the expected results (although these programs seem to do a very good job!) However, on the site of jkdefrag (www.kessels.com) I found - in addition to a wealth of information - How to defragment "C:\hiberfil.sys"? Yes Sir, the hibernation file! The problem has been resolved after following the instructions of Jeroen Kessels ! Hibernation and resume in a split second!

I guess that this procedure should be repeated periodically.

BTW: this site also refers to pagedefrag, which program composer, Mark Russinovich, also developed useful programs Process Explorer ECA system information, additions/replacements very useful for Windows Task Manager.

Thanks, you saved me a lot of embarrassing wait time!

  • Satellite 1905 - problem with the touchpad after awakening from Hibernation/standby

    Greetings.

    I've known a few interesting problems with my Satellite 1905 - S301.
Whenever he wakes up from hibernation/standby my touchpad stopped accepting "taps" as a click on the left button of the mouse. It works normally with finger motion detection, but stops at all but it is quite annoying to restart the machine whenever he returns from hibernation mode.

I've done a small workaround and after I close the laptop lid still works but this isn't the way it should work, I would have preferred that she either Hibernate than running for 10 hours without any sense;).

Can someone give me the solution to this problem, please?
    Thank you in advance.

    Kind regards
    Akar

    Hello

I agree with you. It s very boring to restart the machine each time to use the touchpad.
This problem appears on the first day?

I think there might be a software problem and, possibly, the new installation of operating system recovery CD Toshiba could help.
I know, the complete installation is not the best solution, but it might help.

You should also check you the touchpad. Satellite 1905 - S301 was designed for the U.S. market and so I checked the American website for available drivers.
It seems that 5.3.203.2 is a newer version of the Alps touchpad driver for Windows XP.

I suggest to reinstall the touchpad driver and check if there is no improvement.

  • Qosmio X 300 - 14U - game performance slow after upgrade to Windows 7

Hello. I hope someone can help me.

I upgraded my X 300 14U to Windows 7 32 bit without too much problem. But the game is terrible. I play Battlefield 2 on the spot (which should cope easily this laptop) but the graphics deterioriate after about 5 minutes of play. Then it crashes to the desktop. On average settings, it is much better but not perfect.

so I tried to update the graphics drivers and managed to get the new version 8.17.11.9716 of the drivers to install nvidia (not easy) but the gameplay is still the same.

    Anyone has any ideas please

    Hello

I'm not a gamer and do not know much about them. Have you tried to update all the drivers for windows 7? Is this compatible with win game 7? Perhaps, you must install DirectX or something like that.

  • Satellite C660-1F1-Slow After recovering from DVD and fans constantly running

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite C660-1F1 has an i3 processor and I recovered from the recovery disks. A few days later, everything is very slow and the Fans are always at full speed, even at idle and there is no dust when I opened it and I replaced the thermal paste.

    All of the Suggestions.

    Thank you

    Hello

Try to optimize the OS version. Check the startup options and disable all applications that you don't need.
Make sure that all unnecessary applications do not start with the OS. Remove the system from all things, that you don't need.
    Play a little with it.

  • 2012 MacBook Pro VERY slow after restoring from time machine

Recently, I upgraded my hard drive on a seagate drive. I went from 500 GB to 1 TB. The installation went well. Later, I followed the steps to set up the hard drive:

    1. start the computer by using the R command

    2. open disk utility

    3. formatting the new hard disk by the computer specifications

    4 closed disk utility

Then I restored from a time machine to the top. It took about 3 hours I had about 350 GB of data to restore. Since that time, my computer is moving very slowly! For example, the start-up takes at least 15 minutes for loading applications. Between the tabs in Chrome takes about 45 seconds to a minute. Loading a new web page takes about 3 minutes or more. Open an application like Evernote can take 5-8 minutes. Same shutdown takes about 10 minutes.

In a previous forum, someone suggested to take a look at errors in the console. I have no idea what it means. Can someone help me figure out what this topic?

Here is example of them below:

And I agree a suitable fix is needed, the weather is a kind of BIOS or update the driver, but not a 3rd party work around. For a $1,200 + laptop, this should not be something that get just is swept under the rug with a 'temporary solution '.
