Very slow resume from hibernation.

I had a T60 before this SL500 and the recovery time after going into hibernation was much faster, even though the specification of the SL500 is much higher... Any ideas? I have defraged and optimized already.

I did a full reinstall OS and all drivers are up-to-date.

Dear Toecutter

I applied programs pagedefrag and jkdefrag without the expected results (although these programs seem to do a very good job!) However, on the site of jkdefrag (www.kessels.com) I found - in addition to a wealth of information - How to defragment "C:\hiberfil.sys"? Yes Sir, the hibernation file! The problem has been resolved after following the instructions of Jeroen Kessels ! Hibernation and resume in a split second!

I guess that this procedure should be repeated periodically.

BTW: this site also refers to pagedefrag, which program composer, Mark Russinovich, also developed useful programs Process Explorer ECA system information, additions/replacements very useful for Windows Task Manager.

Thanks, you saved me a lot of embarrassing wait time!

  • Bug report: Power Manager causes performance slowed after resume from hibernation

I use Windows 7 and several versions of the power manager, including the last 6.63.1 of a 220 X.

If I Hibernate the computer, when I'm back, everything is very slow. For example, it takes several seconds for a page to display after clicking a tab in Chrome, but it's just an example, almost everything is unresponsive. This happens for about 5-10 min, but eventually everything will work normally. It seems to be related to the use of high page files. More I wait to take over after the hibernation, the biggest problem seems to be taking.

The deactivation of the service to be able to eat has not corrected the problem, but after uninstalling the power manager, the problem will disappear completely.

I've seen several reports of that of others. This person, it connects to Power Manager, but does not give many details.

    http://answers.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/Forum/Windows_7-performance/unresponsive-after-resume-fro...

This person is also connected Power Manager, but gives a description of how he did, which can be useful for you.

I have reinstalled Power Manager, because the computer is unusable after hibernation. I love the program, however, so it would be nice if you can solve this problem.

    Best wishes

    Justin

    Justin_KM,

I have discussed this with the Power Manager team and they think that this problem can occur because of a feature called Fast Hibernation summary power manager.  The idea is that Power Manager will page out most application on the drive memory before hibernation.  Then the hibernation file will be as small as possible, resulting in a faster recovery time.  But I guess it can cause this side effect, you found if several applications are page in a lot of memory, disk, after sleep.  Then you would end up with the use of the disc heavy and slow application performance, until finally the memory is restored from pagefile.

Anyway, if you want to retry Power Manager, please install the latest version and then apply this reg file to disable the feature that we believe that your problem is initially:

    https://DL.dropboxusercontent.com/u/62276273/DisableFastHibernationResume.reg

Restart after applying the reg file.  This assumes that you are running 64-bit Windows.  If you are running 32-bit Windows, let me know and I'll give you a different reg file.

  • White screen when resume from hibernation when the graph is active (DM4)

I configured and purchased a HP DM4t with 512MB ATI Mobility Radeon (TM) HD 5450 switchable graphicst.  My problem is that when the laptop goes to sleep (for example when I close the lid), it will sleep for a while (I think his suffering at 6 p.m.), after which she'll take back and hibernate itself (hybrid sleep option).  I like this feature because it allows to save battery power, however, when I try to resume from hibernation when the ATI Radeon graphics card is active, all I get is a black screen.  I can connect using the fingerprint reader, (I hear Windows making the connected to the carillon), but I don't see anything on my screen.  If I do this same scenario using the Intel graphics card, I will not have this problem.

I called HP tech support and their solution was to disable hybrid sleep feature.  I was not satisfied with this solution, because it does not save the battery of the laptop must sleep for a long time.  My solution is to disable auto graphics card change, and I just go to the ATI Radeon manually if necessary.  The problem with my solution is that it forces me to remember to turn off the discrete graphics when I'm actually (I tend to forget).

Is there a solution to this problem that will allow me to use the gfx ATI card AND the hybrid auto sleep function?

I was finally able to update ATI graphics driver on my laptop.  This seems to have solved my out of the hibernation problem.  The version of the driver that I'm on is 8.741.1.1000 with a date of version of 21/06/2010.

  • The computer hangs after resume from hibernation

I bought a gateway in 2007 with Vista Home Premium. Great hibernation worked until 7 months after a windows update (I forget which). Now, when I resumed from hibernation, it restarts and comes up with the screen asking me if I want windows to start normally or in safe mode, etc. Any ideas of what could be the cause? Also now, after I try to bring it from being asleep, the screen is black and the computer does nothing. I have to then it reboot. Thank you.

    Hello Mlhargrave,

Thank you for posting.  I found the solution to the problem of you in a Thread here on this site.

We found that sometimes the BCD file may have problems.

You can try this to fix the BCD file.

    1. run CMD. EXE as administrator

    2. run the following command: bcdedit - enum all

Search for "Summary of Hibernate" in the output of the command above (example below):

    Out of the hibernation

    ---------------------

    identifier {3d8d3081-33ac-11dc-9a41-806e6f6e6963}

    Device partition = C:

    path \Windows\system32\winresume.exe

    Windows Vista (TM) Enterprise (recovered)

    inherit {resumeloadersettings}

    FILEDEVICE partition = C:

    FilePath \hiberfil.sys

    PAE Yes

    debugoptionenabled No.

    3. Once you have found, copy the value of the identifier (in this example - {3d8d3081-33ac-11dc-9a41-806e6f6e6963})

    4. run the following command: bcdedit /deletevalue {3d8d3081-33ac-11dc-9a41-806e6f6e6963} inherit

    5. test of hibernation.

Please let me know if this helps you.

I hope that someone can help you. My computer is very slow and unstable since the El Capitan 10.11.3 patch. I am on a MacBook Pro 15 "-end 2011. The computer is particularly slow in Safari, but was slower than normal as well. I backed up my files in Time Machine to an external drive before any troubleshooting, so I'm really happy about it. The person had me clear everything and go into recovery mode and reinstall the OS. After that I had problems with closing down and restart so I reinstalled again and just have not stopped since then. I don't him have NOT YET migrated all my files back and will not until I know that the system is stable. My laptop is functional but still just very slow. Can someone please help? I'm desperate! I think you might have some misconceptions about the work of parallel processing how and what to KEEP. You can also consult the manual of Concepts on when things go in the PGA, and when they go into the CMS and find out how to see the use of the PGA. If you try to load the buffers of the SGA by making a parallel with full table scan, it won't, because this combination uses your PGA and multiblock reads to increase performance - negative in some cases, such as yours.

  • Windows XP Pro SP3, very, VERY, SLOW to the hibernation

Reference Dell Lattitude D620, Windows XP Professional, recently upgraded from SP2 to SP3 & IE6 to IE8. 2 GB of RAM.

Before the upgrade, "Fn + F1" = hibernation; the process took 12-13 seconds to complete.

After upgrade, I rebooted Ad-Aware, Spybot S & D, Spyware Blaster, Malwarebytes, Avast antivirus. And added (again) the 'light' of CCleaner version.

After the updates, the process of hibernation take 95-105 seconds to complete.

    Any suggestion to check/set appreciated.

I see...  Let's look at something else now that we have this new information.

If you are using IDE drives, use Device Manager to make sure the transfer mode for the IDE channels to something as DMA if available (depends on your hardware) and the slow PIO mode.

PIO is the slowest, DMA is faster.

It is easy to check and usually easy to fix and the mode would not have changed in itself, so if she changed to PIO, change it to DMA, and then understand why it changed and fix it.

To launch the Device Manager console, click Start, run and enter in the box:

    %SystemRoot%\System32\devmgmt.msc

    Click OK.

Expand the section controller IDE / ATA to see your IDE channels. Each right click and choose Properties for each channel that has a tab advanced settings, determine the Transfer Mode. There are usually 4 channels to check in a desktop computer, maybe less for laptops.

Faster selection will be a kind of selection DMA (usually: DMA DMA5, UDMA, etc - anything but PIO).  If it is PIO, change it to DMA.

If you are unsure of what you see after return of help and advice.

Followed this with a reboot to ensure that any change stick.

What may have caused the change?

After deleting the partition of 100 MB, I ran Windows repair and I started correctly in Windows. Then I installed Ubuntu and it starts very well as well. The boot loader is now the Ubuntu one, I don't assume the cause of the problem.

    Now comes the problem.

When I put in hibernation in Windows, it hibernates correctly but using the Hibernate, I am presented with the message "Windows summary of Point of hibernation". Recovery from hibernation is very slow. It takes about 3 minutes to resume everything in just a minute, if I'm cold it starts. I have a desktop pc with all the drivers of the last update. I tried to reduce my swap file, installed the drivers for my chipset, have a pretty good 7200 RPM hdd (I have a pc), 2 GB of ddr2 ram and a core e7500 2. But my problem is that my computer Hibernate in very less time but when resume after hibernation (no sleep) 1 min and 35S (windows 7 64 bit) when starting cold takes only 50 dry or slow. Before installing SP1, I installed all the updates (from Microsoft and Toshiba) and had no problems; all the drivers are up to date.

Thanks for any answers in advance.

I guess that this happens because of a problem of compatibility between some pilots and SP1

    > After checking these forums, I saw that Toshiba does not support SP1 is that correct?
    Yes it's true.

    > If Yes, when and how will notify us when Toshiba released a "patch" for compatibility Vista SP1? I'm guessing that via personnel TEMPO?
I think that there should be information on the Toshiba driver page, support page or we will receive some information of Toshiba through applications of Tempo.

In the settings app, under the Safari settings panel, tap lightly on the Panel in the right-hand turn off / disable Safari Suggestions.

In the application settings tab general, right under the spotlight sesrch, try disable the search under the applications who really don't need a research, as some games, remote controls, apps that are really useless to be searched, etc., in order to reduce the list to Spotlight search.

Try to turn the reduced movement.
This is found in the application of settings in the general tab, in the left panel.
In the right panel, look under accessibility, look to reduce the Motion and turn this feature "On".
You should see a significant performance increase on all models of iPad 2, 3 and 4.

In the application settings under the general tab, in the right column, search background App update and enable this setting to "off".

Try a reset of your iPad by simultaneously pressing buttons Home and sleep/wake button until your iPad goes to the dark and restarts with the Apple logo, then release the buttons.

    Good luck!
